Well, I finally didi it, but with a great deal of effort. The computer and TV are on different floors, so connect the Ethernet cable using the household electrical wiring as a conduit,also had Airplay on, I finally had some movement. But it was Oh so so slow, I could have installed the OSX system 10 times plus on the computer for the time it took to update Apple TV. So out of character to the usual Apple products.
So, Apple TV team, lot's more work required on that coding and a lot of tweaks to speed this up.

You can't do much else besides pull the plug. If it causes further problems you should be able to restore as below:
Get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
On the other hand you may be able to simply start the update again.

Apple just released firmware 1.2.1 for the ipod, you should try restoring your iPod again with that.

G5 1.8 SP freezing - OS update?

I have a late 2004 1.8 sp G5 (the infamous buggy model) that I had loads of problems with when I first received it (i.e., not waking up; freezing; not starting up). After Apple issued the firmware update for this model several months ago, it worked like a dream. However, it has been exhibiting a tendency to freeze up rather frequently since the OS update to 10.4.7
1. Has anyone else had this issue?
2. Can I revert the system to 10.4.6 without compromising the security updates from 10.4.7?
3. If so, how would one go about doing such a thing?
4. If not, is there anything else that can be done to minimize the problem?
Finally: When I initially received the computer, I spent countless hours on the phone with Apple Care and brought it in to the local Genius Bar. They couldn't find anything wrong with it. It wasn't until later on that I came to realize that many people with the model had similar issues.

Have you tried resetting the SMU? (System Management Unit)

To reset the SMU, shut down the G5. Then pull the powercord out and leave it out for about 30 seconds or so. Then plug the cord back in and start up.

Apple TV Freezing

Anyone else having the problem with the Apple TV freezing? It seems to just get stuck on certain songs when i try to play them and then the only option is to do a soft reset or pull the plug. The display does not change but I can see the LED blinking when i try to use the remote.
It happened three times the other day when i was trying to enjoy my new toy.

It appears that particular specific files can be troublesome when synced to AppleTV. I suggest finding the most recent files you have synced and remove them from sync.. Try syncing again. Then, restart the AppleTV.
If it still freezes, remove all content from sync and access files only by streaming. This should fix it.
If it does, be careful what you sync, particularly with your own created (or transcoded) video files. Also, send a report to Apple on the feedback page.
If it does not, ask for more assistance from Apple.
I would imagine we are going to get some fixes when the next software update comes along.

Apple TV freeze then reboot when flipping through music

Hi,
I have an issue where my Apple TV freezes and then reboots when I flip thorugh the music files. The music is playing and I switch to the next song but it seems that if do this too fast repeatedly the unit feeezes and then reboots. It varies how many times I have to switch the song but approximately 10 times before it happens.
It only started happening after the newest update.

I'm having a similar problem. I stream my music collection from my computer hooked up to an external hard drive. For the last few days, apple tv freezes right after I choose "Shared Music". You will wait for the rest of your life. You need to fix it; no one else will. To turn off "Find my iPhone" and its associated Activation Lock you need the Apple ID and password that were used to turn it on. If you know the Apple ID you can contact Apple Account Security and have them reset the password (after you prove you are the rightful owner of that Apple ID). see: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699.
If you don't know the Apple ID the phone is permanently unusable.

The user id that displays on my ipod is correct on the settings menu but when I try to update my apps, the apple id that displays (and wants a password) is one that I no longer use. How can I change the apple id for this one function to my current correct one? I've tried poking around all the settings and can't find where to change it. To update those applications, you will need to sign in to the Apple ID that downloaded the applications initially. One, you cannot delete an Apple ID, all you can do is stop using it and let it fade away.
Two, apps are permanently tied to an aPple ID and can never be transferred to another. You must use that same ID to update an app, or delete the app and repurchase/download under another ID.

If the thief enabled activation lock on the device, then there is nothing that can be done. Only the password for the Apple ID that it is locked with can disable activation lock.

Those apps are forever tied to the Apple ID they were purchased under. You can either delete them and re-purchase them, or you can go to Manage your Apple ID and reset the password on the old Apple ID so you can use it to update your apps: Apple - My Apple ID
If you decide to continue to use them under the old ID password, I would suggest that when you reset that password, you change it to be the same password as the one you are currently using. That way when apps need to be updated you will only need to know one password and you won't have to be concerned with which Apple ID is displaying.
