Apple tv french movie

I want to know if it's possible to rent a movie en french on apple TV
thanks
Martin

Welcome to the  Discussion Forums.
I believe there are a couple of French films available, but I'm not so sure they are at all easy to find. I know I've purchased some that have been in German with English subtitles and unless I missed something saw nothing that indicated this would be the case. Sorry I can't be any more helpful.

There are several threads that address this issue.  Apparently there's an option to turn off infrared remotes in Security Preferences - but not for my MacBook Air.  Try this thread:

Apple TV - rented movie, stopped midway, now can't watch 2nd half.
No option to "return to rented movie" - screen only says "go to Settings, find Downloads, then Download" or something similar.
***? I went to Settings and there is NO Downloads option. Anywhere!
I think Apple is losing it. FIrst my iPhone 4S, which I was tricked into loading the new operating system which is HORRIBLE. Am now looking at moving back to Android. And now Apple TV seems screwed up. Jesus, is this the end?

If you rent it on your Apple TV then that is the only place that you can watch it - from the HT1657 page that you posted from :
If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV (1st generation), iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4 or later, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.
Why it's like that I don't know, I don't think that Apple have said.

  • Closed Captioning in Apple TV Rented Movies?

Is it possible to select closed captioning in Apple TV Rented Movies? I rented a movie and did not see the closed caption option. Is it possible that only certain movies have the closed captioning option, or none.
I would appreciate any information regarding this subject.

You can turn on closed captioning in the AppleTV settings. Go to Settings > Video.
It is possible that not all rented movies will have closed captions. It is up to the movie studio to provide CC with the movies files they give to Apple for hosting.

  • Can Apple TV access movies that are stored in Time Capsule?

Can Apple TV access movies that are stored in Time Capsule?

The Apple TV looks for iTunes, which is likely on your computer.
I know of no way to "tell" the Apple TV to look for anything. It is pre-programmed to look for iTunes, iPhoto, etc.

I have to reset everything, then it will repeat the cycle. This happens regardless of wire or wireless connection. I would suspect that there is something wrong with the network, or Apple TV, except that movies and TV Shows seem to be fine. My music library is about 3700 songs, all legit, either imported from source or puchased through iTunes. This one has me stumped and frustrated!

I thought that may have been the case too. I set the power settings to compensate but still the same. I also done things like reset the router and Apple TV to factory. Starting to think it may actually be the Apple TV, but it just doesn't make sense ?!?

  • Quicktime X will not play some Apple Mpeg 4 Movie Files

    Hi,
Having a strange issue.  Quicktime X will not play some of my Apple Mpeg 4 Movie files anymore.
The files open fine in Quicktime 7, but not Quicktime X.
I receive the error message "The document could not be opened. A required Codec is not available"
I have installed other codecs (Flip4Mac as well as Perian), but no luck.  Have re-installed Quicktime X (10.1) and software is all up to date (running Lion 10.7.2).  The movie file works fine if I import it to iTunes as well.
Called AppleCare Support and they could not come up with an solution.  Does anyone here have any ideas?
    Thanks!

(BTW, I just realized this was an MPEG-4 topic - my issue wasn't necessairly centered around that architecture)
Yes, I naturally assumed that you were having problems at some point with MPEG-4 Part 2 or Part 10 content.
Since I mentioned "from," I should have mentioned what the codec/wrapper was (it was captured into a .mov file using DV/NTSC via "Capture Now" in Final Cut Pro studio V7, via an analog-to-digital converter).  What makes this confusing is that files captured with the same settings sometimes open right into QuickTime X with their audio/video intact, and at other times, only the audio shows up (where upon opening that same file in QT 7, we can see both audio and video). Interestingly, the problem files icon shows up on the desktop as the generic movie icon, whereas the "normal" files' icon is the first frame of the video.
May we assume at this point that the source video data is DV-25 with 16-bit Interger (Linear PCM) audio sampled at 48.0 KHz and it is the scratch MOV file that may or may not open/play correctly in QT X but always opens correctly in QT 7?
Ultimately, though, this is an unimportant point in solving my issue. Why? Well, if I can successfully open the problem files in Compressor (e.g., see/hear the video/audio), then I can theoretically re-compress (or "re-wrap?") them to whatever codec I want - ideally one 100% compatible with QuickTime X.
I took a test file, placed it into Compressor, and applied the DV/NTSC setting to it (yes, I know, the same setting the file already had). After re-encoding (which took very little time), the file was perfectly executable in QuickTime X - both Audio and video showing as to be expected, and no real difference in quality (not that VHS source is quality to begin with).
This sounds as if the "problem" file's container may be the source of the problem. As I don't know if your Compressor test is passing the data through to a new faile container, I would make an additional test here. If your version of QT 7 is keyed for pro use, I would simply use the "Save As..." File menu option to to create a new file container. In fact, I would probably just create a "reference" file rather than another "standalone" file here—a very, very fast operation—and then open the secondary file in the QT 7 "Properties" window to ensure all of the data tracks (1 video, 2 audio, and 1 timing) are present. If all looks good, I would then try opening the reference file in QT X to see it it now plays. (I.e., whether you use a reference file here or a standalone file, the object is to see if the QT X player will now recognize all contained data tracks whether resourced by reference or physically contained in/via the new wrapper.)
Could this have been answered without knowing the complete "from" specs? Probably… which is why I posted to the help forum in the first place - the goal being some other reader may have had the same issue, and had a handy solution or suggestion, saving me the time of experimentation (what forums are great for).
I don't know about you, but I would still be looking at profile/level combination settings to see if an an assumed MPEG-4/AVC video and/or AAC audio settings had been properly encoded for QT playback.
I have no doubt that there's a technical difference between the files that created this issue in the first place. But, the solution of re-compressing with an identical codec did the trick, which for this project is good enough for me.
Recompressing data is slower than rewrapping data which is slower than rereferencing the data pointers. But, if your solution works, then that is all that matters.

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
        1.    Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
        2.    Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
        3.    Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
        4.    Open iTunes.
        5.    Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
(You may already have a micro USB cable if you have a camera or other digital device)

  • Suddenly I cant get sound on the music I have purchased on Apple TV. Movies

Suddenly I cant get sound on the Music I have purchased on Apple TV. Movies and TV Shows sound is ok

Welcome to the Apple Community Ree Ree
Have you tried adjusting the "Audio Out" and the "Dolby Digital" settings in settings > audio and video? It may be worth trying several combinations of these settings, although typically it is the "Dolby Digital" setting that causes most problems for users.
If you are using a sound system/receiver, make sure that you have correctly mapped the input port on your sound system to the output, if you are unsure about how to do this, refer to the manual that came with your sound system.
Have you tried playing various content sources (i.e. podcasts, music, iTunes Store video, other video etc), do you have the same problem with all types of content? If you use optical you might also check that you can see a red light at the end of your optical audio cable. Is your optical audio cable plugged straight into your sound system, or does it go through a switch or other device?

  • Why should the Apple TV download movies its its not authorized to play ?

Why should the Apple TV download movies its its not authorized to play ? If the Apple TV is not authorized, how come the itunes store still goes ahead to download anyway ?

You need to be a bit more specific here.
Surely you're not suggesting iTunes or AppleTv are downloading things you've not purchased and therefore not entitled to play.
If it's something you've bought then there may be an authorisation issue with iTunes, AppleTv which could be due to a glitch (reboot AppleTV) or local/distant network issues.

How can I change the CC size of Apple Store rented movies on the 3rd generation Apple TV (iOS 6.0)?

So, mich, according from what I've figured out that's not possible on Apple TV. What I actually think is lack of features. Any free software avaliable on Internet has suck a basic feature like that...
I've contacted Apple about it too, but I think they don't care about me!

Found the streaming shut off depedent on time capsule. Had to enter port 123 at shsring on time capsule.
This is crap....no data re This re appletv and itune 10.5.
Films on swedish itune ...no subtitles...i am really dissapointed

After having audio background noise so loud you cannot hear the audio on Apple TV using iTunes movies and Netflix television programs, but no noise problem on Netflix movies or on Apple TV iTunes movie previews, Apple Care solved the problem by telling me to go to "settings" in the menu, select "audio and video", then select "dolby".  Turn "dolby" to off.  For me, this not only solved all noise problems, but also enabled the closed captioning on the Netflix movies, which were not showing before!!!  You must be sure closed captioning is enabled in the "settings" section in the Apple TV menu, and the movie must be closed captioned (noted on the preview page for all movies, etc.) - for ITunes movies or Netflix.  Netflix is closed captioned just by turning off the dolby on the Apple TV.  Netflix doesn't seem to know this solution.  Apple Care is finding that the dolby fix also seems to fix a "no audio" problem.

  • Can i to see directly with Apple-TV the movie presents in my Time Capsule?

I would like to know if can I to see directly with Apple-TV the movie presents in my Time Capsule?
Thank you very much in advance for your support. (sorry for my english)

Unless your Macbook is recent and supports Airplay you would need a third party app such as Airparrot to Airplay video to AppleTV - this will not work with Apple's DVD Player though but may work with VLC.
Methods of conversion of DVDs to play on AppleTV cannot be discussed on Apple's fora due to their terms and conditions.

  • Sharing an Apple ID for movies/tv shows only?

My husband and I are currently both running iPhones (4 for him, 4S for me) and two brand new iPads.  We have separate iCloud accounts and apple IDs because we both had older iPhones before we met.
The only thing we really wish to share is movies/tv shows, as we don't really use the same apps and listen to different music mostly (I rarely download music from iTunes to begin with).  I have never downloaded any movies, so in that regard I'm starting fresh, but now that we have the iPads I would like to watch our growing movie collection which is all under his apple ID.  I don't mind using his apple ID for everything from the app store/iTunes from now on if it makes things easier, but how can I keep the apps I have already downloaded to my iPad?  I don't plan to download any movies to my iPhone and no music will go on the iPad, so I don't mind continuing to purchase music from my own apple ID and using that on my iPhone, and using my husbands apple ID for my iPad, but I have already paid for several apps and I'd rather not lose them, nor do I want his app purchases syncing to my iPad.  (I do, however, want app purchases to sync from my iPhone to my iPad.)  Is there a way for me to get our movies to my iPad with a computer?  Really, what is the simplest way for me to watch our movies without having to use the same apple ID?  What do you all recommend for us?
Sub question- is there a way to combine ALL previous purchases (music, apps, movies, tv) on our shared desktop and then select manually what syncs to each device?
This whole not being able to sync more than one Apple ID to a device for 90 days is really killing me.  That does apply to apps as well, right?

That actually has very little to do with my original question.
For anyone with the same problem I had, I did eventually make the leap and it turned out to be an easy solution for us.  Since I had never bought any movies and rarely buy music (which is oodles more transferrable than movies and tv anyhow) I just started using my husband's account for everything.  The issue I was worried I would have- not being able to update apps and such- turned out to be moot, since the updater just prompts me for the password to whichever account the app was originally downloaded under.  So never fear, if you decide to use one out of two accounts you will still be able to update apps and not worry about that 90-day switch.
This will become an issue someday when we upgrade our stuff, but at that point I'll probably just bite the bullet and re-purchase any apps I hadn't bought under his ID.
