Apple TV full?

I tried to buy a movie but I got a message telling me the disc was full and I had to delete something, and also the stuff I buy direct through Appletv doesnt appear in my itunes so it doesn't get backed up to my external HD. How can I sort this out.
Rustynuts

Basically the idea behind having a sync and a stream option is that streaming gives you the opportunity to watch all of the content on your iTunes library, but requires your computer to be on, whilst syncing gives you the opportunity to sync a handful of movies and TV shows and be able to watch them whilst your computer is turned off.
As for the duplicates that you are now seeing goes, I don't really have any answer for this at this stage. However I would say that I would expect a TV show to take at least 10 minutes, if not more, to transfer from your Apple TV. So I don't really think there has been no time for that number of TV shows to be transferred to your iTunes library.
I would be inclined to wait to see what happens and let it finish. You may wish to keep an eye on your free disk space. You may also wish to look at "get info" to see if the duplicates are the same file or are all separate copies.

No, there is no redownloading with the Apple TV 1. Transfer them to a computer.

  • Apple TV Full - No More Space

How do I remove items from Apple TV - stuff that I do not want to watch anymore. I would like to get new shows - but cant since full.
Can I simply go to my iTunes folder, move some of the TV Shows & Movies into another folder on my desktop?
    Thanks

"Can I simply go to my iTunes folder, move some of the TV Shows & Movies into another folder on my desktop?"
iTunes on your Apple Computer is yr interface for what goes on yr Apple TV. I assume that you sync yr Apple Computer with yr Apple TV?
U can simply delete a movie/tv programme/song etc on iTunes. It will ask you if you want to "keep the file" or "delete" it to the trash. By "keeping the file" it will remove it from iTunes and hence Apple TV, free up space on yr Apple TV, but keep the file it in it's original location on yr Apple Computer, so that you can re add it to iTunes and Apple TV later.
As yr library of media increases in size (on yr Computer or Apple TV), yr gonna have to be disciplined as to what you keep. Whether you have purchased TV programmes from the iTunes store or "downloaded and converted" from another site, yr Apple TV can only hold so much.
I have a Macbook Pro laptop with a 160Gb hard drive. I use it for everything......photos, movies, TV series, email......you name it, and as such it's hard drive fills up quickly, so I am constantly having to delete media. It fills up way b4 my Apple TV does.
To remove a movie for example, click once on it, hit the delete button, you'll then get 2 options. One is to just remove the file from iTunes (but it will stay on yr computer, the other is to send it to the trash where you can delete it forever......unless of course you have a Time machine connected!
    Good luck!

  • If I buy a Verizon/Sprint Phone from Apple at full price can I put an ATT SIM in it and run on ATT network?

If I buy a Verizon/Sprint Phone from Apple Unlocked at full price, can I put an ATT SIM and Run on the ATT network?

    Verizon: Yes.
    Sprint: No.
Sprint iPhones can not be used on any U.S. carrier other than Sprint. They can only be unlocked by Sprint for use on non-US carriers, and then only for current Sprint customers in good standing.

  • How to fix Apple Mail full message index in Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)?

I've tried all the solutions proposed in the past five years for this recurring failure of Apple Mail.
Many of those no longer apply because the OS X has evolved.
In April 2013 is their an effective fix or am I forced to migrate to Thunderbird?
Surprising that Apple has allowed this problem to continue for soooooo long.
Or is there an APP that can find messages in mail for me? EasyFind doesn't seem to work.
    Thank you for suggestions.

The "issue" is the need to spend my time answering inquiries smoothly, efficiently, effectively with no headaches, no hassles, no downtime. THAT's why I dumped my Windows machines and re-invested in my Macs after a long stint in Windows World.
Fixing Apple Mail is NOT my job and certainly not "my" issue. Getting work done is my issue.
Happy users don't try alternative software.
Obviously the shortcoming of Apple Mail prompted you to get Postbox and "try it very briefly".
Calling Postbox rubbish is utter nonsense. Apple Mail is not "my own" and Postbox is not "my own".
Hardware and software are just tools to do a job and achieve an end and reach a goal.
Plenty of torrents offer Postbox for free.
But I was so impressed with its ease of use and comprehensive indexing that the company certainly deserves compensation for their efforts and I paid for it on the first day of a 30-day free trial.
Religiously supporting Apple regardless of extensive and widespread reporting of Apple Mail's multiple indexing problems, aside from all of Spotlight's widely reported indexing problems and CPU power consumption, but offering NO ACTUAL help, only stating the obvious -- "You have a problem." -- is not the purpose of Apple Support Communities. That is not support.
You offered no "steps to troubleshoot it now". You suggested no "simple but effective measures." You suggested no "maintenace tools".
THAT'S what I needed. THAT'S what lot's of other Apple Users need. That's what you should post here and lots of people would give you plenty many points.
All of the MANY fixes I tried were specific suggestions from the Support Community here and elsewhere trying to offer solutions that worked for them in the past -- support. Unfortunately, most of those suggestions were dated and didn't solve the problem. None of them solved the problem.
But they did offer well-intentioned, specific "simple but effective measures" and "steps to "troubleshoot" the problem. That's what people are looking for here, not just commentary.
In this case, best solution for me that got work (helping people) back on track was effortlessly slide into a great app that does the job with no problems whatsoever (so far).
The APP cost LESS than a drive to the Apple Store.
The REAL issue is solved. The REAL issue is fixed.
And I hope this one more additional option helps other Apple users get on with USING their machine, not trying to find fixes for buggy Apple apps.
Apple does not do all things the best.
Apple Mail worked OK until the last quarter's multiple software updates which I accepted believing they were fixes and improvements. The Apple experience degraded.
Any Apple Mail users experiencing problems with it should DEFINITELY consider moving to Postbox. It's great. And it's FREE for 30 days.
It is NOT HERESY to suggest Postbox works much better than Apple Mail. It's the truth.
Apple Mail working properly is still not as good as Postbox IN MY OPINION based on my personal experience.
I don't sell Postbox. I don't sell apps. I'm just posting a solution for other users to consider because it was such a relief to be able to "just use" my Mac again.

  • Can you buy iPhone 5 at full price at Apple and then bring it into VZ to activate?

As with many people asking today, I'd like to keep my unlimited plan. No current discussion seems to apply exactly to me so I'm making a new one. Here is a quick summary and then my question:
I'm not an account manager but I pay my share of the bill so the acct. manager doesn't care what I do with my phone. I have an iPhone 4 with unlimited data. I'd like to get an iPhone 5 and keep my data. I don't mind paying full price. I'd much much prefer to order from Apple than VZ's online store. So question: Can I pre-order the iPhone from Apple at full price and take the phone to get switch at a store to make sure it get's switch right or do I have to wait till who knows when till my local VZ store has iPhone 5s in stock?
Edit: Decided to call Apple (VZ's customer service line has a pre-emptive recording about how you shouldn't ask questions like mine to a CS representative. Understandable)
What the Apple guy said was that when you buy from them you have to tie that iPhone to an account, whether it's new or current. What I want to do will only be possible once Apple starts selling "unlocked" iPhones. At this time they don't know when that'll be possible but he was very optimistic in saying soon. I guess I'll have to wait no matter what I choose.

maybe not with verizon, a friend of mine preordered well into the day when the iphone 4 came out no problem so you might be able to.. keep in mind most people who have the verizon iphone 4 probably dont have an upgrade before oct 7th since thats 20 months from the first day people got it so the numbers will be slightly down. (of course you have people with multiple lines and people like me who plan on paying full retail)

  • Apple Loops

Hey all, i have been successfully converting various sound files to apple loops (full disclosure i like making sample based hip hop, a la beastie boys, etc). recently when i am editing a piece of audio, rather than importing the correct region information into apple loops browser, i will go to retrieve the sample and the tempo will be different from what was assigned and there will be dead air at the end of the loop. i'm sorry if this is unclear, but any help at all would be much appreciated. thanks.

  • Is there a way to make Apple TV move to the next video in a Vimeo playlist automatically?

Is there any way to make Apple TV play multiple Vimeo videos automatically, one after the next?
For any of you who have used a Google TV device, you know that this is the default behavior for internet videos (Vimeo included, obviously) there. It's the only thing that I miss after boxing that thing up to use my Apple TV full-time.
If there's not a way to do this, is there any hope of suggesting this behavior (and if so, who would I suggest that behavior to, Vimeo or Apple?)?
    Thanks in advance.

It's a bug that has presented itself again after the update. I would provide feedback and a bug report

  • Why does Apple lock my phone to the first SIM I activate with? How to clear the IMEI?

I paid a premium to purchase a unlocked iPhone direct from Apple Canada so that I could use this phone around the world with various SIM cards. As it turns out however, Apple locks this phone upon the initial activation with the SIM I had installed for the activation. The result is that I can receive calls, send/receive SMS but cannot send calls.
Apple tells me that its Rogers I need to talk to. Rogers wants $60 to unlock my phone and tell Apple's IMEI database that this phone is legit. So why can't Apple register my IMEI directly in their own database? I bought the phone from them, unlocked.
    This is unacceptable frankly!
Apple advised to do a restore from iTunes with the new SIM and it should unlock. I attempted this after a backup, restoring from the backup, but am still unable to make calls.
Can anyone please advise how I can register my IMEI directly with Apple or how I can get this working again? I'm 5 months with a $800 piece of hardware that can't make phone calls.
@Apple...can you please provide me with an official story of how this works, why its done this way and how it is to be solved?
Appreciate the time of anyone who can help on this matter.

iPhones which are sold subsidized or bought directly from a carrier are all carrier locked iPhones.
The only way to buy an unlocked iPhone is direct from Apple at full price. This is just the way it is.
As far as unlocking the iPhone goes it is up to the carrier. Rogers started to unlock iPhones back in December for $50 + applicable provincial taxes, which puts it somewhere close to $60. This is a service that Rogers offers and has nothing to do with Apple. Yes the IMEI number is added to town Apple server somewhere but the service is to do with Rogers. If you are having issues with the unlocking process then you need to contact Rogers.
Once the IMEI number has been sent in you should be able to connect your iPhone to iTunes and do one of two things. You can restore the iPhone with the original SIM. You should get a message saying the iPhone is unlocked with the restore is completed. Second option is to install a sim card from a differnt carrier and then connect to iTunes. No restore should be required if you have a sim card from a differnt carrier.
If you are not getting service with the new carrier and the sim card I would say double check that the sim card is working properly and is activated with the new carrier. You should be able to call them to see.

  • Full screen incoming caller

Why Apple removed full screen incoming call photo. It was an awesome feature. I hope Apple will consider this and return in next version of iOS. Everyone has got their own happines to see loved ones photo, which makes them happy, relaxed and lot more, when phone rings with full screen photo.. Thanks

  • Snowleopard upgrade and full version

I have macbook with leopard. I want to upgrade it into snowleopard. But I found 2 types of dvd, upgrade version and full version. What is the differences and advantages between full and upgrade? If I buy the full version, could I install it in my mac(leopard)? Because I found more easily the mac box set (full version) that is cheap.
    Thanks

The 10.6.3 white retail disk (so called "upgrade disk") sold online at Apple are full version disk of OS X Snow Leopard, however it also has a upgrade installer for OS X versions 10.4 and 10.5.
So if you boot the Mac into 10.4/10.5 and stick the DVD in and double click the upgrader, it will replace 10.4/10.5 with 10.6.3 and leave your programs and files alone.
If you stick the same disk in and boot the machine while holding c or option/alt key down (wired/built in keyboard) you get the opportunity to use Disk Utility (and others) and can erase the entire drive and then install OS X 10.6.3 Snow Leopard fresh. However this disk is sans-free iLife, but can be reinstalled via the 10.5 machine disks.
I don't know the specifics of the full version of the Snow Leopard install disks as I never used them, or what particular advantage they have (free iLife?), but if it requires a erase and install, then that's a disadvantage obviously as you can't carry over your already installed 10.5 programs.
OS X 10.4/10.5 need to upgrade, 10.6.8 ok still

  • Apple tv gen 1 and 2 jerky playback.

I have had this issue since i first purchased atv1 when they first came out....jerky playback/lag/ slight delay..whatever you call it..i upgraded my modem to an N series..i got apple extreme and ditched the belkin..i bought apple express......extended the range......
i bought atv2 thinking maybe it will fix the problem....nope.I have all Apple hardware except the modem and download via wifi..(i have tried ethernet direct and sill the same)...i hassled my ISP and now have around 6mbps.....still have the lag.....i recently downloaded from foxtel..(ethernet) to compare and playback is perfect...what;s the go with Atv....? i am far too gone now to just leave this and accept it as normal...i still have atv 1 on a separate tv and still the same old lag.....any help or suggestions would be most welcome before i ask apple for full refunds of all the movies/tv shows i have bought..i would rather use Apple to buy tv shows and movies than Foxtel in priciple...but i am running out of ideas......when i first went to support originally Apple hadn;t heard of this....?

Same with 3rd Gen too.  I made a movie in Final Cut Pro, exported as SD, 720p and 1080p.  Plays back smooth on Mac, iPad, iPhone etc... but on AppleTV 3rd gen, it's dropping about half the frames.

  • Can I buy an iPad in Asia and register the Apple Care Protection Plan in Europe?

I want to buy the new retina iPad mini while I am in Hong Kong for my semester abroad but I want to have it protected with an Apple Care Protection Plan for when I'm back in Europe. I was told that the protection plan is region specific for iPads and that my iPad won't be covered in Europe if I buy Apple Care in HK. But, what if I buy the iPad in HK and buy Apple Care separately in Europe, when I'm back?

The AppleCare+ plan is valid only in the US where you purchased the iPad. So if you want the $49 replacement price, you will have to send the iPad to someone you know in the US who can take or send it to Apple for you. Othewise you will have to pay Apple's full replacement price, assuming Apple India will even replace the iPad for you; if it's a WiFi+Cellular model you will probably have to send the iPad to the US in any case.
    Regards.

  • Does MBA's Lion Recovery require Apple ID when re-installing OS?

If you bought Lion via Mac App Store, and you want to re-install it using Lion Recovery mode, IT DOES require Apple ID to certificate your purchase history. This is the case when you bought Lion separated from your Mac.
However, I'm just curious the case of purchasing Mac with Lion installed by default, just like MacBook Air-2011.
When you want to re-install Lion on your MacBook Air, which came with Lion, using Lion Recovery mode, does it require you to enter your Apple ID to download install files from a server?
I heard, in terms of iLife, when you buy a new Mac now, it asks you your Apple ID on the first start-up and it registers iLife-iMovie,iPhoto,Garageband- to your Mac App Store account's "Purchase History" so you can re-install iLife whenever you want from MAS.
If, Lion goes for the same with the case of iLife, how can I sell my MacBook Air to another person? There's no way I let the buyer use my Apple ID.
iLife-less MacBook Air will do the job but without OS? I can't sell it to another person because OS is a fundamental.
Any experience? Oh, btw, I haven'y bough any Mac with Lion installed by default, which is the reason I'm curious how things work.

Could you tell me more about "one time transfer?" Did you use it as a legal term or a technical term? If it is a technical term, is there a way to transfer my purchase(s) to another person?
It is merely quoted from the Lion SLA (software license agreement) which you can view/download here:
    http://www.apple.com/legal/sla/
    Excerpt:
    3. Transfer.
    A. If you obtained the Apple Software preinstalled on Apple-branded hardware, you may make a one-time permanent transfer of all of your license rights to the Apple Software (in its original form as provided by Apple) to another party, provided that: the Apple Software is transferred together with your Apple-branded hardware; (ii) the transfer must include all of the Apple Software, including all its component parts, printed materials and this License; (iii) you do not retain any copies of the Apple Software, full or partial, including copies stored on a computer or other storage device; and (iv) the party receiving the Apple Software reads and agrees to accept the terms and conditions of this License. For purposes of this License, if Apple provides an update (e.g., version 10.7 to 10.7.1) to the Apple Software, the update is considered part of the Apple Software and may not be transferred separately from the pre-update version of the Apple Software.
    B. If you obtained your license to the Apple Software from the Mac App Store or on Apple-branded physical media, it is not transferable. If you sell your Apple-branded hardware to a third party, you must remove the Apple Software from the Apple-branded hardware before doing so, and you may restore your system to the version of the Apple operating system software that originally came with your Apple hardware (the “Original Apple OS”) and permanently transfer the Original Apple OS together with your Apple hardware, provided that: the transfer must include all of the Original Apple OS, including all its component parts, printed materials and its license; (ii) you do not retain any copies of the Original Apple OS, full or partial, including copies stored on a computer or other storage device; and (iii) the party receiving the Original Apple OS reads and agrees to accept the terms and conditions of the Original Apple OS license.

  • I am new to Safari and can't figure out to show full page Safari

I am very new to Apple; I just got a new Apple on Sunday. I am trying to figure out how to make Safari and other Apple software full pages. I click on the green plus sign at times, but they don't always give me a full page.
    Can somebody help me?
    Thank you.
    Colleen

    Hi Colleen
Welcome to Apple Discussions and Mac Computing
    Previous poster meant "right corner".
To make any page "full screen", just click/hold on the lower-right corner of the screen (you'll see diagonal lines there) and drag to the size you want. Next, click on the red button to close the window. Then go to the File Menu and select "new window".
Good way to familiarize yourself with OS X is to pick up a copy of Scott Kelby's book OS X Tiger: Killer Tips. Also, these forums have a wealth of information available either via the Search panel, or here for Safari support.
