Apple TV green LED flashes rapidly

According to the ATV setup guide if the front green LED is flashing rapidly, there is a problem.  I've detached all the cables from the ATV and found a micro-USB cable, which I connected to the ATV and my Mac.  In iTunes in the left pane where the playlists and other options are located, only my iPad shows up as a device.  Going to Prefs there is no tab for ATV.  Under the Devices tab only the iPad shows up.
Other commets here have suggested restoring but it seems that since my Mac doesn't even "see" the ATV, there's nothing to restore to or from.
The USB cable works on my camera but it took a little elbow grease to get it inserted completely.
This is a Gen 2 ATV, two or so years old.  Connected to a late 2012 Mac Mini running OSX 10.9.1, with iTunes version 11.1.3 (64 bit).
Is there anything further that I can look into before committing it to a repair shop or buying a new one?
thanks,
-Tod

    •    Check that you have correctly followed the instructions for your model of Apple TV.
    •    If not already, try using a powered USB port.
    •    Repeat the process but this time try connecting the cable while iTunes is closed.
    •    Repeat the process with another cable.
    •    Try restoring the Apple TV on another computer in another location.

Help has arrived! Does the device have any physical/liquid damage? Was the device in use or being charged when this happened?

  • After installing updates my atv2 screen goes blank and led flashes rapidly

I just bought my atv2 and it told me to update, which I did, and then my screen went black and the led light started blinking rapidly. This is the second one in 2 days. I have tried disconnecting the hdmi, power, and holding down the arrow keys to reboot and still nothing.

I recently got this ipod from the Apple store because my previous one broke. They gave me the ipod and right when I plugged it in, the screen turned an offwhite color, made a quiet buzzing sound and flashed. After a week of this it mysteriously started working so I didn't put much thought into it, I was just happy my iPod worked. Then after a month or two, it randomly started doing the same thing. No matter if I plug it in or not, the screen flashes a blank off white page.
It is also possible that your iPod has entered one of its "Sleep" modes. When it hasn't been used in a while, it goes through a couple of stages of this to preserve the battery's charge.
Try pressing the iPod's center button to wake it from sleep.
If this fails, start with a reset of the iPod (hold Menu & center buttons) and work your way through the rest of the 5 R's.

  • Apple TV loses picture output and status light flashes rapidly after 5 minutes hooked up via HDMI - DVI cable

Apple TV connected to a 2005 50" plasma monitor with DVI input via belekin HDMI to DVI cable.  Unit worked perfectly long enough to get it connected to the wireless network and begin the itunes registration process when there was a loss of signal message on the screen from the monitor and the Apple TV status light flashed rapidly and continuously. Reset and reboot yeilded flashing rapid status light and no output detected from the monitor.  I contacted support online and was told to return the unit to the apple store.  I returned home with another brand new apple tv and connected it in the same manner with exactly the same results.  Is there something with the HDMI - DVI interface that is causing this?  Are there known issues with the HDMI - DVI connection to Apple TV with older plasma monitors?

The Apple TV doesn't actually support DVI. Some have managed to get it to work others have had varying issues with it.

  • 845PE - D-Bracket LED 2 Flashing Rapidly, No Other LED\'s On

    Thanks For Reading This,
    System Specs:
    ==========
    MSI 845PE Max2-FIR (Brand New)
    P4 2.4 GHz 533 (Brand New w/ accompanying fan)
Kingston 512 MB DDR PC2700 (Brand New)
Antec TruePower 430W Power Supply (Brand New)
3D Prophet II Ultra 64 MB AGP (Not New, Working)
I'm upgrading my computer. I bought a new MB, Processor, RAM, & Power Supply (Above). So Far, the above listed is all that I have put in this system.
I connected the D-Bracket (but left the USB Ports Disconnected), the S-Bracket, the Power Supply (all three MotherBoard connectors), all the front panel lights and switches, & the Video Card. I decided to make sure the system POSTed before I continued to add drives and cards.
I connected the power supply (with the PSU's On/Off switch in the Off position). As soon as I switch the PSU's On/Off switch on, the CPU, Chipset, & Case fans all start immediately (before I press the case's Power button) & the #2 LED on the D-Bracket flashes rapidly. All the other D-Bracket LED's are unlit. The system doesn't POST, Beep, Nothing.  :O
Holding the Power Button in for >5 seconds will not shut it off. Nothing, short of switching off the PSU, will turn it off. I disconnected all of the front panel lights and switches (including the Power Switch). Same result. The instant I switch the PSU on, the fans come on and the #2 LED flashes rapidly.
I have tried putting the RAM in different slots, swapping the RAM with known good RAM, disconnecting all "optional" connections, swapping for known good Video Card, resetting the BIOS with onboard jumper. None of which have helped at all.
I cannot find any mention of flashing D-Bracket LED's in the motherboard's manual or on the internet. I do not know what this signal means.
If anyone out there has any suggestions, please help me out. I would greatly appreciate any assistance you could offer.
    Thanks for your time,
     :O Dominick  ;(

Who would have guess that you have to have the Power Supply connector SECURELY connected to the motherboard for the thing to POST?!?!?!
I hope you catch my sarcastic tone. I apologize to you for having wasted your time, but I do appreciate you taking the time to read this.
Apparently, the Power Supply connector (the main 20-pin one) was not snapped all the way into the connector. I didn't have a spare Power supply so that is the one thing that I didn't swap. I just barely thought to check it and SUPRISE!, it was barely pushed in enough for some of the connectors to make a connection.
After snapping it securely into the connector, my board POST's and boots fine.
Thanks again for your time & sorry for being a bother,
    Sincerely & Sheepishly,

  • HP k5400n - all leds flashing at once

    Hi,
I have a printer which failed just after warranty expired, the HP 5400 has all leds flashing rapidly al once.
This error condition is not described in the user manual, does anyone have an answer to resolve this.
    Many Thanks

    Hi,
Wow... there might be a few things to try.  I found this "Blinking Lights" document and a couple of others that might indicate paper jam or carriage jam.
    Blinking lights document:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00845054&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=3654701
This shows some animation on which lights are blinking and which are on solid. I didn't find the "all are blinking" but found where most are blinking.
If this doesn't help, maybe look at this document:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01950039&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=3654701
Check for a paper jam or carriage jam.  If it is a carriage jam, then try the solution 1 step 4 to free up the jam.
If it is not a jam, the try these steps that are listed in the document above in solution 3.  Leave the printer turned on, unplug the power from the power source (back of printer or wall), wait 15 to 60 seconds, plug the power back in (turn it on if it doesn't automatically turn on), this resets the printer and makes it go through it set up process.

make sure you're following the steps exactly (unplug all cables, connect micro USB, if using a 3rd gen reconnect power). Connect directly to computer. Try a different cable

This is a user to user forum. you are not addressing Apple. You can give Apple feedback here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/
BTW: You do not speak for "all users apple". I for one have a LONG list of feature I would rather see than a flash for the iPad.

  • My z10 led flashing red when charging and even at battery full it blinks red. no green at any note..

My z10 led flashing red when charging and even at battery full it blinks red. no green at any notification. But at below 10% charging level it blinks with a combination of red and green. Please send me any settings to be changed if.. at full charged no green light is blinking.. how many colours does z10 led have..and when it works and how to make those settings..or was my led not working fine? I am worried so much..plz help me

Your LED is fine, on the Z10 there is not "network signal available" green LED, as you're accustomed to from the legacy devices. At reaching 10%, the LED will blink orange.
Red for message or applicaiton notifications.
if you want to edit and create specific LED color combination, see the third party apps such as BeBuzz or Hub++

  • HT200197 i restored my apple tv and the light just flashes rapidly. any ideas?

my apple tv showed a cord unplugged on the screen. Did the restore from ITunes and now the light just flashes rapidly and same logo shows up. Any ideas?

    Weaverj,
I experienced the same thing on the SAME day (just last night) except I haven't restored it.  Meaning I DID not want to restore the unit and LOSE all the Movies I had on the unit.  Interesting that this occurred the same day you had your problem.  Instructions state that you should be able to restore without losing the media but there was NO option on iTunes to restore & save!!  Just an option to restore back to default losing all your purchased media.  I hope you would share any solutions with me if you discover one before I do, and I will do the same.  TangoPapa54

  • Show the light on the apple extreme be green or flashing

I just connected the apple extreme and the light is flashing yellow.  Is that ok?

When accessing the AirPort extreme through a Mac, you can look into the Utilities folder, and open AirPort Utility to check the status of the Extreme base station. There is a way of reading trouble reports, but since mine has been working OK for several years (with an occasional power-down or reset w/o change of settings) I don't remember exactly.
Here is a link to an older ASC discussion where some of the general ideas are glossed over. You can also search in you computer Help for details about AirPort Extreme...

A few links to AirPort support pages may be found above Discussions in ASC AirPort community: https://discussions.apple.com/community/wireless/airport
As the light blinks, do you get access to the internet through the wireless base? Is your Location set to use a login password with the base station? You may need to reset the base station, but check settings & any error messages.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • What does the green led on the WAN port indicate?

Does it indicate that there is a PHYSICAL connection or there is activity?  If you have a bad cable between the modem and the WAN, will the WAN led light up?  If the modem isn't operating correctly, will the WAN led light up?
The reason I ask...I have two Airport Extremes.  The green led on the WAN port started acting finicky on the first one (the internet is down whenever the WAN led isn't lit).  I could jiggle the ethernet cable just right and it would come back on.  I changed ethernet cables, no change.  I decided the WAN port must have a bad connection internally, so I switched over to the second Extreme.  Same problem.  It is highly unlikely that two Extremes have the exact same problem.  If I could figure out what that green led on the WAN port actually means, I could diagnose this a little better.
To make it worse, I have an ISP that loves to blame Apple for all their internet problems, so I need hard proof that something may be wrong with their modem.

Does it indicate that there is a PHYSICAL connection or there is activity?
Both. A solid green light indicates that there is a "live" connection on the other end of the cable. Network activity will be indicated by a flashing green light.
If you have a bad cable between the modem and the WAN, will the WAN led light up?
    No.
If the modem isn't operating correctly, will the WAN led light up?
Possibly. A malfunctioning modem may still provide a solid connection and thus the light may still be lit, but no flashing to indicate that there is no activity on the connection.
I could jiggle the ethernet cable just right and it would come back on.  I changed ethernet cables, no change.  I decided the WAN port must have a bad connection internally, so I switched over to the second Extreme.  Same problem.  It is highly unlikely that two Extremes have the exact same problem.
Since you already tried multiple cables and multiple base stations, I would tend to believe the issue is with the ISP's modem.

  • Help Please! Apple Logo Green and won't turn on

Help Please! Hey I like Green Apples, but this does not look good
I need some help with my late 2011, 4gb memory, 500gb hard drive Mac Book Pro. I’ve had problems in the past, the hard drive failed only after 3 months from purchase date.
Now this thing started 2 weeks ago, I turned it off in the night and started it up in the morning to find an Green Apple Logo Screen and after loading it goes to a blank screen.
That’s it no matter, what I do, restart, turn off and I trying safe booth and trying to re-intstall Mavricks lol that was not pretty (It looks like an old crash windows computer) It had no information on it.
Pretty much it is a paper weight now and I need some help.

  • Dc7700 small form factor - I get 9 red led flashes when trying to turn on computer.

I have replaced the power supply and I continue to get the same 9 red flashed.
If I push the power button twice in rapid succession I get a green led but I do not get any monitor feed nor does the hard drive get accessed for booting.
    Please help!

    Hi:
    9 beeps could mean:
    1. Check the voltage selector (red switch) on the power supply to make sure it is set for the right voltage.
Unplug the A/C power cord from the PC and wall socket. Change the voltage switch to the correct voltage.
Wait 30 seconds and plug the PC back in.
    2. Replace the system board.
    3. Replace the processor.
