Apple TV image doesn't match computer screen

We have a new Apple TV and are able to navigate using the TV screen to access content, but our MacBook Pro which is "synced" to the Apple TV displays different content and seems to operate independently. Any ideas on how to have the TV display and laptop monitor match?

Welcome to the  Discussion Forums.
Your MBP and the tv are different devices and work independently of each other, the display attached to the tv is not supposed to mirror your MBP display.

    You can try AirParrot.

  • Image doesn't match when previewed or exported

Ok, so I have just recently upgraded to the latest version of FCP studio and have been having the weirdest problem with it.
I'm working on a project with two layers of video (a full-screen image with a small box insert. The insert video plays fine but in five spots (out of an eight-minute-long video) the full screen image doesn't play the clip that's put in there.
I've double clicked the clips to verify that they're correct and they look fine on the preview monitor. I tried going in and finding the original shots and replacing them but they are still showing up as the incorrect shots in the sequence monitor. I tried going in to the render files in the document folder and deleting and re-rendering. The problem still re-occurred. I then took off the insert for those clips, rendered, and they looked fine but then when I exported to Quicktime then the wrong images re-appeared in the exported file.
Does anyone have any ideas of what may be going on here, how to fix it, and/or a good work-around?

I wonder if this has anything to do with the MacBook Pro problems?

That said, I'm not sure I'd run the 1.1 update if you hadn't run the 1.0, there were so many problems with the 1.0...
Are you using filters, or just resizing the overlaid video track?

  • Using apple tv will it mirror my computer screen

can i mirror my computer screen using the apple tv??
    thank you

    AirPlay Mirroring
Requires a second-generation Apple TV or later. Supports the following Mac models:
    iMac (Mid 2011 or newer)
Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer)
Your mac must be on 10.8.x to use AirPlay Mirroring and be supported above.

  • Image doesn't fit on screen

At startup, right after desktop image, top menu and dock loads, monitor resolution is being reset so only part of the desktop image fits on the screen. Going to Display Preferences and switching resolution does nothing. Starting up in Safe Mode and hooking up a CRT monitor instead doesn't change anything either. Also tried to reset PRAM and trash com.apple.windoserver.plist
The problem first appeared while I was using computer. Screen resolution suddenly changed.
    Apple Cinema 20"   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Hi
    Screen resoultion suddenly changed. <</div>
This sounds like a monitor cable fault or a graphics card fault. Either one or the other or both are not now able to support the full range of resolutions they were able to support before the fault occured. To determine where the fault lies you could do one of two things. Borrow another monitor and try your mac on that and see if the follows the graphics card/mac or if you have a friend with a computer that you can try your monitor on to see if the fault follows the monitor.

  • Why can't monitor doesn't match computer resolution?

I have an old macbook pro 17" with max resolution 1680x1050.  When I plug in my view sonic Led monitor they don't match.  The monitor says 1920x1080.  The screen seems a bit blurry and hard to read. I tried the smaller monitor size (1600x1200) it stretches the screen.  Why don't they match?  And do I need a different type of monitor?
(see attached image of sizing- the "color LCD" is the macbook.)
Thanks a million.  I get the best answers to my mac problems on this forum.
    -Kate

Yes, it should work. 1920x1200 is the resolution of Apple's 24-inch Cinema Display. The new one connects directly using the Mini DisplayPort, but the previous 23-inch version was connected by DVI and it was 1920x1200 native resolution. I have heard no one else reporting here that any DVI display with 1920x1200 native resolution does not work properly on the Mini DisplayPort (using a DVI adapter).

  • Image doesn't fill the screen on my mac book, Why?

I have two black strips, one up each side of the screen and I can't find away of getting the image to fill the screen again.

it doesn't sound like you actually figured it out.
image taken fromt he web and edited to show you where the setting are.
You can choose to right click your desktop or go to system preferenes. they all lead you to this screen.
if you are in system preferences and don't see where Desktop & Screen Saver settings are just type it in the search area.
this image was found in a google search.

I don't know the exact answer, but when people have asked about problems like these on Adobe's own Photoshop forums, it is often related to the graphics card driver. You can try experimenting to see if it changes if you turn off OpenGL in the Photoshop preferences. If it does behave differently then, it could be a graphics driver issue. That's all I know...for more, you might ask on Adobe's forum.

  • Exported Image Doesn't Match Export Presets After Use of Straightening Tool

Unlike my experience with previous versions, in Aperture 2.1, after applying the "Straightening Tool", I cannot get an exported image to match the dimensions set for "Export Preset." The results are a reduction in size.
It appears that the output is being based within the rectangular confines defined by the out of view corners of the rotated image rather than that of what is actually being displayed.
Is there a new method I am missing or is this a bug?

So, like really, no one has experienced this problem?
The resulting dimensions of the exported image, which was rotated by the "Straightening Tool" are smaller than that of the export image, of the same picture, not rotated, but with the same "Export Preset" selected.
    Example:
I want all my exported images to be a dimension of 200 x 300 pixels. Those exported without the "Straightening Tool" applied are exactly 200 x 300. Those, say with a 10º "Rotate" applied to the original and, exported with the same "Export Preset" dimensions, result in an image which is 145 x 216 pixels in dimension.
This is very unlike Aperture 1.5.6, in which the exported output of both image versions would be identical, at 200 x 300 pixels in dimension.

  • Viewer image doesn't match selected image for Panasonic GF1 imports

I just discovered that when I view an image in a project, the large displayed image reverts to the last displayed image in the LIBRARY>Photos.
This only happens to projects which I have imported from my Panasonic GF1 (after making the modifications to the Raw.plist and the RawCamera files.

I figured it out. After removing the trial app and re-installing the paid app, my modified RAW system files were replaced as well. That's why I could only see the thumbnails.

  • The plastic hinge between my screen and the computer (macbook pro retina) is cracked and doesn't hold the screen anymore? Can Apple change it?

The hinge between my screen and my computer (macbook pro retina) has cracked and doesn't hold the screen anymore. Can I fix it without changing my screen. And if it's still on guarantee does Apple have to repair it?

Apple can fix any and all of their computers.  Whether it would be charged to you would be the question.   Do you have AppleCare?
Accidental damage is not covered by AppleCare.
    How old is this computer?

  • Used to zoom computer screen while using apple tv, since update, my screen is mirrored, but zooming doesn't show up

I used to be able to zoom in and out on my computer screen while using apple tv. For example, zoom in on a certain URL or ribbon. Since the update, my screen is mirrored, but when I zoom in and out to show my Word ribbon up close, etc., the zooming doesn't show up. My zoom preferences are set on computer.

You might try restarting your device, your router and your Apple TV.

Please help me out as this is very irritating. This has been happening for the last 20-30 minutes. It had roughly half battery left.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
