Apple tv internet

I have a wifi connection but no internet for both of out Apple Tv's (3rd gen). We have internet connection on all computers in the house. I am on an iMac (2010 ventage). What could be the problem?

AppleTV does not allow you to browse the internet, but it uses it for certain services via the icon driven menus.

  • Apple Authorised Internet Sellers

I have just had an interesting conversation with a senior staff member at Apple about authorised sellers.  This may not be news to some of the more experienced community ‘bretheren’ but I thought people newer to Apple may be interested.
I am a new Apple customer and as part of my exploration of Apple’s services I had been trying to find out how a potential customer could identify an Apple Authorised Internet Seller.  Locating an authorised ‘shop’ was easy enough through the Apple website but I wanted to know more about buying on-line.
I had looked at the US site https://www.apple.com/buy/ and seen that this particular information was openly published under the heading ‘Apple Catalog & Internet Resellers’.  However, the same information was not available on the UK website at http://www.apple.com/uk/buy/
The Apple representative informed me that the UK operated differently and that there were no Apple Authorised Internet sellers in the UK other than for Apple’s own On-line Shop.
As regards the authenticity of the products sold online other than through the Apple Online Shop, he explained that Apple only sold to authorised sellers. Non-authorised sellers obtained genuine Apple products from third-parties and sold them on.  He explained that these products may well be genuine but Apple had not authorised the company to sell them. Clearly the danger when buying from these non-authorised sellers is that a product may or may NOT be a genuine Apple product.
He accepted my suggestion that it may be useful to include in http://www.apple.com/uk/buy/ this information about internet sellers in the UK not being authorised.
As a footnote, I have to say that I found the way that Apple dealt with my query was a superb example of customer service.  They were thorough and polite.  The supervisor even supplied me – at his instigation and not my request – his office telephone number and email so that I could contact him directly on other matters in the future.

Try > Apple - Find Locations
You might also try > Trouver un revendeur - Find a reseller  to see if any of the resellers there provide support and service.

  • Are Apple's internet payment systems vulnerable to the Heartbleed virus?

Are Apple's internet payment systems vulnerable to the Heartbleed virus that apparently has infected https connections for banks and other businesses?

If anyone were vulnerable, they would not announce it. Almost always, these announcements come from interent security firms and watchdog groups.
and if they did announce it, it would be after it was fixed.

  • Apple IMac Internet not connecting

I have a a WRT54GS and an apple imac and it recognizes the network but will not open the internet. I noticed that on the forum maybe its a firmware update or downgrade. What version of firmware should i be at?

is any other wireless client able to go online ?? if yes, check the ip add on the imac..ensure that it has an ip add in the range of the router ..
the firmware needs to be 1.52.0 if the router hardware version is 5 or 6 ....

  • Apple tv & internet download allowance

    Hi there everyone
I  have recently changed over to an iMac and also have been given as a gift apple TV and am delighted with everything. Although I do have a question regarding my internet download usage which is 40gb a month. I watched a film of my own stored on iTunes and viewed it through my apple TV. On checking my download usage for that day, when little other internet activity was done I was surprised to see my usage for that day was 2gb. I can only think it was watching the movie through the apple TV that was responsible for this. I have done a search on the internet regarding this and there seems to be conflicting opinions regarding download usage when playing your own movies, music and viewing photos through apple TV, any views would be helpfull.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
This all depends on what you classify as your own movie.
If it is a movie that is stored in your iTunes library on your computer and not one that you have purchased from the iTunes store, then there will be no Internet usage whatsoever.
If it is your movie that is in your iTunes library but was purchased from the iTunes store, then there may be a small amount of Internet usage while the Apple TV checks home to make sure that the content is authorised, this would be nowhere near 2 GB though.
If you are talking about a previously purchased movie from the iTunes Store, that you download from the purchased section of the movies feature on the Apple TV, then yes this will use the Internet to re-download this movie to your Apple TV.

  • Apple TV Internet Radio - All Radio Stations Gone.

I have three latest generation Apple TV's (on the same Comcast network connected to an up to date Airport Extreme).  They all have the latest software update.  I never use more than one at a time (they are in different rooms). For the last week, none of them has been able to list a single internet radio station.  After clicking on "Blues" I get a black screen with the word "Blues".  The same is true for every music type.  This happens on all of my Apple TV's.  I've tried rebooting and reinstalling.  I've rebooted the reletively new cable modem. I get the same thing.  What's up?  Is there any way to fix it? It all worked perfectly for more than a year.

  • Apple TV Internet radio

Why does internet radio drop every 5 minutes when I turn my TV monitor off to save energy? I am using an HDMI connection.

There are several things AppleTV can do if software modifications are applied.
These are effectively 'hacks' and will not be supported/condoned by Apple.
They may well work but to get these things running takes considerable technical expertise. Your choice if you feel capable.
Any AppleTV updates might well disable these 'enhancements', and if you bricked your AppleTV trying to apply a modification you will be unlikely to receive any warranty support from Apple.
Do not be surprised if Apple delete this thread.

  • Apple Configurator Internet Error when checking for the latest IOS

    Hey all,
I have just updated my apple configurator software to 1.2.1 and every time the software tries to check for the latest ios version it just times out saying internet error. All internet connectivity is fine as I have unistalled and downloaded the app several times trying to resolve it. I can browse web pages fine so I know internet connectivity is not to blame. What can I do to get this thing to succsessfully phone home?

We have the same error.  I've called apple enterprise support and gotten a case ID.
    I suggest everyon call apple.
It's easy to reproduce once it happens. It's hard to resolve.  It happens even when we reboot and have just one ipad connected to the mac desktop with just a single USB cable.   We can no longer update the ipads.
I've asked apple to focus on less fluff and more function in configurator.
    Please do the same.
It would cost us about 12 man hours to wipe out our machine  , restore lion, then restore from time machine.

  • Apple Mail internet connection problem

i  am able to download pages, check on icloud my email, etc. but I am unable to download or send mail via apple mail.
is there a specific reason for that?
I am quite often using public libraries and it's mainly there the problem exists - in some it's impossible, in others (after a lot of trying) it is possible.
    Is there any solution?
    Mark

I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
Disconnect the AirPort base station from the Internet broadband modem.
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Reconnect the AirPort base station to the Internet broadband modem. For the Extreme and Time Capsule, be sure to connect the cable to the base station's WAN (circle-of-dots) port.
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it adequate time to initialize.
Power-up the AirPort base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes. Note: The AirPort's status light may continue to flash amber after it has intialized. That is because, there may be some additional configuration items necessary, like setting up wireless security, before the overall setup is completed to get a green status.
    Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, the AirPort base station will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN. Network clients, connected to the base station either by wire or wireless, should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options. Please post back your results.

  • Apple tv Internet concerns

Recently purchased the new apple tv and was wondering if it's always connected to wifi
Even when in sleep/standby and if so does it consume any bandwidth this has concerns me since my ISP has put in place a data cap or does it just maintain a connection with the modem without consuming any.

The Apple TV will only consume Internet bandwidth when you are downloading or playing content from the iTunes Store or one of the other features that the Apple TV provides (you chew Flickr etc).

  • Apple TV internet no Airplay from IPAD despite WIFI router

    Hi,
My Apple TV2 is connected to my Ethernet wired network, there is a Netgear Modem Router on this network that allows DHCP and WIFI access WPA2 secured.
The Apple TV can connect to the Mac to share the itune Library over wired ethernet.
My Ipad connect to the same Netgear throught Wifi and I can access every Mac on the ethernet network with all apps.
BUT No way to connect iPad Wifi to the wired ethernet connected Apple TV, I mean iPAD wifi to the netgear router to ethernet wire to the Apple TV, exactly what I do for mac's and pc's that are ethernet connected to the netgear Router.
My iPad can connect to MAC with the same network for screen sharing with decicated Apps.
If I unplug the apple TV from Ethernet wire and I configure WIFI, my Ipad connect instantly to the apple TV for Airplay or remote.
Wifi is far too slow for Video display, you have to wait a lot before it start and it jitters, so I need the fester connection of my 1GB ethernet network from Apple TV to MAC, this is working well but then I cannot use ipad airplay...
every Item is using DHCP from the netgear.
I hope this is clear enought.
Did anyone succeded in implementing such a network configuration???
Does Apple TV neeeeddss direct WIFI for using Aiplay from iPad  (it's the same for iPhone by the way) ??? WHY  (performance, bonjour, marketing lock ??)
Is there a way (by Jailbreak?) to enable ethernet wiring and Wifi on the Apple TV???
    Tahnk you for your help
    Regards
    Luis

The netgear router did not work properly with apple TV, I disconnected its WIFI and use it only as a modem for internet cable to ethernet local network, so no wifi.
I bought a time capsule that I included in my ethernet local network and used its wifi as a bridge for wifi devices (ipad iphones) to local network with internet acces through the modem router.
Then I connected my apple tv2 to my ethernet local network.
With this configuration my ipad or iphone can through time capsule wifi access ethernet local network and use apple TV2 to display ipad/iphone screen/video on my TV. superb indeed...
    regards

  • Share Apple TV Internet connection over ethernet?

I want to share my internet that I'm getting wireless through my Apple TV with my PS3 (which isn't wifi capable). Problem is 1) I don't know where I could turn sharing on and 2) when I plug an ethernet cable in, the wifi disables. Is there a solution that doesn't involve extensive hacking? Much Thanks!
    Bob

Short of installing a third wireless router as a relay, I was hoping for a more efficient solution. Thanks!
You don't necessarily need another router. If you can run an ethernet cable from your router to a point closer to the basement, a simple wireless access point connected to the router by cable would be enough to boost the wi-fi range.

  • Apple TV Internet Browsing other than You Tube and iTunes Site
