Apple TV / iOS and AirPlay is intermittent after updates.

Background:
Home network with Airport Extreme, Apple TV, 2 MacBook Pro's, 2 iPads and an iPhone. Everything works together great, just as it should. I can play music from either the laptops or iPads over my house system via Apple TV. AirPlay is great.
10/12/11 - Update to iOS 5, Lion 10.7.2 and ATV 4.4
Much like many others posting here, my AirPlay connection is intermittent. Sometimes it work, sometimes it stops (no AP icon). Restarting Apple TV generally solves this, and the icon re-appears and AP works for a while, until it decides to stop. This is most apparent with the iPad - ATV connection. So, it appears there is a bug somewhere, if I had to guess, I would say that it's Apple TV. But maybe it's iOS. Hope Apple fixes this soon.
If you are experiencing the same - post here - hopefully Apple engineers will see this and look into it.
If someone has other suggestions for me, I welcome them in advance.

My understanding is that 4.4 is fine (it certainly is for me) once installed, and that the problem if it occured was with installation and not using it.
Your problem to me sounds like interference.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.

    After updating to 10.8.2 on my early 2011 Macbook Pro, whenever I pause for more than a few seconds using either the keyboard or the mouse, the pointer freezes. It takes a few seconds of dragging my finger across the keypad or hitting a number of keys before it begins to respond again.
    It doesn't appear that any background process is frozen or that the whole system is frozen because video still plays through without stuttering, and downloads continue updating the progress bar as the freeze occurs.
    The same thing has happened since my wife updated her Macbook Air. Very frustrating.

    Have subsequently tried doing a re-install with the combo updater, repaired permissions, reset SMC and PRAM. No luck. When booting into safe mode, works fine but cursor is 'jittery' and the screen is erratic (like an old tv with rabbit ears antenna.)
    Any thoughts or help would be significantly appreciated.

    Assuming that the battery isn't empty (and it can take up to 15 minutes of charging before it will respond), then have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep/on/off and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
    For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
              SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages

    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
              DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
    (not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
    I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
    If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
    In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
    Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

    so,i reset everything and reset my network too,but nothing change.
    BUT,when i connect my ipad 2 with my iphone using ad-hoc,the facetime and Imessage worked really good,just like normal.
    And my iphone using Optus network.,So when i connect like that,my iphone using 3G and share ad-hoc to my ipad and everything work fine.
    SO,anyone having idea of how to fix this problem,please,help me. And thanks alot for your time .I just want everything working normally just like before i update to IOS 7.

    backup the device with itunes.
    Restore the device with itunes and set up as new.
    Sign into the facetime and imessage to activate it.
    After that is done and activation is good.
    Restore from the backup.
    Then make sure to sign into facetime and imessage again and you should be good to go

  • AirPort very, very slow & intermittant after update

    I installed the AirPort Extreme Update 2007-001 from today's Software Update, and on restarting, my wireless connection became extremely slow (56k speeds at best) and very intermittant -- it'll work for a minute or so, then lag for two or three minutes with no signal. I've rebooted several times, but it hasn't helped.
    Is anyone else having trouble after the update?

    If you are having extreme difficulties after applying this update, the workarounds listed in our wireless tutorial have failed, and you absolutely need to restore wireless access, you can try this somewhat risky workaround:
    Download the most recent version of Mac OS X for Intel (10.4.8)

    but do not install it.
    Download and install the shareware application Pacifist

    Scroll down and find the file IO80211Family.kext. Drag it to your Desktop or another location (you will have to enter your administrator password)
    On your Mac OS X startup drive, navigate to /System/Library/Extensions and locate a similarly named file (IO80211Family.kext). Move it to another location for safe keeping.
    Now drag the file from step 7 (the one that you retrieved from the Mac OS X 10.4.8 install package) into the /System/Library/Extensions, in effect replacing the newer file (installed by the AirPort updater) with and older copy -- you will have to enter an administrator password.
    Restart your Mac
    This workaround is risky because you should not generally mix and match kernel extensions after updates, you will lose some improvements (including security refinements) brought about by AirPort Extreme Updater 2007-001, and new conflicts can ensue. Still, in a bind, it can restore wireless connectivity where other workarounds fail.]

    - Go to settings>Store and sign out and sign into your account.
    - Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

    The Portable Wireless Server WG-C10 I purchased in 2014 doesn't stream any audio and some video content after updating phone to Android Lollipop 5.x.
    The WG-C10 firmware is the last version which is available and the PWS Manager software is the last version available in Google Play Store.
    There are no updates for the WG-C10 firmware nor PWS Manager software since 2013 or for Android 5.x (Lollipop) and I don't know if the WG-C10 firmware is the problem or if the PWS Manager software is the problem.
    BTW, I am still able to stream this content on my tablet which is on KitKat (4.4.x) so the files are not corrupted.  The only problem is with Lollipop.
    PWS Manager in the Google Play Store says it supports Android 4.0+ which is no longer true.
    The audio file formats which fail to stream are:  mp3 and wav
    The video file formats which fail to stream are:  mp4, avi and 3gp
    JPEG Images appear to work fine, but I haven't tried other formats.
    I purchased the WG-C10 to stream audio and video primarily to my phone and now that this no longer works, the WG-C10 is useless to me.
    Any ideas?

  • Apple X11 for openoffice; graphics and text getting blurred after update

    I downloaded a program from openoffice to have an alternative powerpoint presentation program. i successfully downloaded the program but when i was opening it a dialogue box says that i need to have Apple`s X11. and so i downloaded X11 but after a series of steps of installing it the final step where you choose where to place the application (McKintosh HD), it says it already has its latest version. and yet i CANNOT open the openoffice. how come? i`m getting frustrated now rechecking again and again. i need some advice on this.
    and also, after i updated for the newest mac OS X how come the text and the graphics on the computer are getting blurred? an update is supposed to be better than the old one, but how come it`s the other way around?

    The X11 package required cannot be downloaded from Apple. It is on the OS X installation disc that came with your computer in the Optional Installs package. Simply open Optional Installs and select the X11 package for installation.
    Be sure to set your Display for millions of colors when using Open Office.
    If you prefer a solution that doesn't require X11 try Neo Office instead. Also an Open Source project Neo Office doesn't require X11 to run. There is an Intel version of Neo Office available.

    If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
    Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
    Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
    Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
    Open iTunes.
    Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
    (You may already have a micro USB cable if you have a camera or other digital device)
