i want to set up my apple tv so i can display photos from my macbook pro plus my kid's ipads- 2, 3, 4. do i use airdrop or airplay; I can see both my installed networks( windows home network, airplay) ; at present i cant "see" a photo file installed on a flashdrive on my usb port on my macpro . how to access the photo file and display on the TV through Apple TV is my question

Airplay on the iPads, controlling what is displayed from the iPad.
With the Mac you can set 'photos to share' in iTunes, either selecting iPhoto or a directory where photos are kept. If the Mac is new enough you could potentially Airplay from that, but sharing allows you to browse via the AppleTv remote.

The problem is that all services are bundled with your Apple ID ([email protected]):
Your iCloud account (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes, Backups, etc.),
also iTunes & App Store purchases (Music, Movies, TV Shows, etc.),
and the iTunes Match services.
(I guess that all your devices - yours and your wife's are connected to one iTunes library, right?)
If you want that your wife gets her own iCloud account for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, etc. but gets also access to your media then you have two set up two things on her device:
iCloud (Settings > iCloud) with her account (e.g. [email protected])
and
iTunes & App Stores (Settings > iTunes & App Stores) with your account (e.g. [email protected]).
In this case she gets access to your library and could use the same iTunes Match account.

I can't get past the ipad setup.

So I got an Ipad for Christmas and I can't even get past the Ipad setup! It's all fine choosing my language and Country Or Region, but when it comes to choosing a network, for one I don't have Wifi access, so I try and skip that part to go to the Itunes section, nothing even registers, so I try pressing the square button on the bottom of the Ipad, which then says: "Setup Incomplete", which thereby gives me the option of "Continue", "More Wi-Fi Settings" or "Start Over". I click continue but nothing happens!! I'm stuck on the same screen..Can someone help out please??

You can't setup the iPad the way you are trying to set it up without WiFi.
Connect the iPad to your computer and set up with iTunes. You must be running the latest version of iTunes as well. If you do not have iTunes on your computer, download it here.

If you don't have a computer, you have to use WiFi to set up the iPad, there is no other way.

I am unable to use apps on my iPhone 3GS, apple TVs & iPad mini - Airport Express

I currently have an airport express and Netgear ADSL2+ modem. I also have an iPhone 3GS, 2 apple TVs, iPad mini, and iMac (circa 2008). The only device that is working properly is the 2008 iMac. All other devices show that I have 5 bar signal but do not allow me to use any of the apps (ie: Netflix, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) I have ran speedtest on all devices, ping and download speed are as expected. Ping: 150 ms, Download: 2.7 mbps, Upload 0.68 mbps from iMac. The only difference is that upload speed on iPhone and iPad mini does not register. I feel like the issue is with the modem or the airport? Do I need the airport extreme even though I show 5 bar signal strength on all devices or do I need a new modem from Verizon in hopes that it will get me a better connection on a device that they support? (they do not support the Netgear modem I currrently have).

There is no problem about using one ID for iTunes, iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match, and another for iCloud and its email and syncing facilities. This way you can all use the same iTunes account but have separate emails and calendars etc.

Yes, I do have multiple devices and it appeared to me that every time I tried to sync or log onto iTunes, the password was incorrect. Consequently, I was and am constantly changing it. Wouldn't it be nice if Apple would simply say that you only need one Apple ID and one password regardless of the number of Apple devices you intend to sync via iTunes.
Barring the above, how about a way to merge all of the Apple IDs and passwords into one.

After upgrading to itunes 11 home sharing to all devices, apple tv, ipad, itouch, doesn't work, or doesn't work for long. How do I fix it?

I followed a tutorial to downgrade back to iTunes 10.7, which worked but the home sharing still having issues. It will stream for a few minutes and then kick me out and tell me I need to turn on homesharing. If I restart itunes I can watch again for another few minutes before it kicks me out. I have adjusted my energy saver settings to see if that was the problem, (which it worked perfectly before the update with the same energy saver settings) That didn't help. What can I do to fix it? All of my home entertainment has been digitized to run through my 2 apple tvs, ipad, ipod touch, imac, macbook and then Apple goes and screws me with an assanine software update that renders all of their products worthless!
I have reset, reboot and restored my apple tv, so I know it is not that. And like I said, everything streamed perfect before I updated to Itunes 11 a couple weeks ago.

Could you specify what brand, model, and ports the TV has?
Perhaps the maker of the digital TV has customer support.
Unless that's part of the issue, a general lack of it there, too.
However remote that may be, a few have a web page with
pictures of the back or end of their product with ports in view.
And/or a schematic of the kinds of gremlins they have inside.
Was your MB/Pro a certified Apple Store refurbished 'special deal' or bought at a retail store from existing stock that may have been an older model?
In either case, the ability to return the item has a limited duration from the date of purchase; unless there is a technical issue whereby they may choose to repair or replace a failed component or device. Perhaps someone with more experience with the device and adapters will offer their take on what to attempt next.

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can get a clue to what it is, and potentially use it, by going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and clicking 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you should see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have, or don't want to use, your rescue email address (you won't be able to add/change it until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support or Apple to get them reset (which will be by phone as they need to verify your id - we are fellow users here on these forums).
e.g. you can try contacting iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management , and then 'Forgotten Apple ID security questions'

Unless you had Find My iPad enabled on it then there isn't any way to try and locate it. If you did have it enabled then you could try locating it either via http://icloud.com on a computer or Find My iPhone on another device - but that will only work if it's connected to a network and the device hasn't already been wiped and/or Find My iPad disabled on it.
If it was stolen and you haven't already done so then you should report it to the police. You should also change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc., and if it was a cellular model then you should contact your carrier.

First open the flap holding it in.
Then, with the front cover open and away from you (iPad is face up and the right edge is toward you) pull the edge of the case that is facing you toward you about 1/4 inch until it drops over the edge of the iPad.
Then, use both thumbs to push on the iPad while using the fingers of both hands to hold the edge.
After it has moved about 1/2 inch release the edges, grab the outer edge with your off hand (left if you are right handed) using your left thumb and forefinger and use the thumb of the other hand to push the iPad out and away from you. Try to keep the thumb in the center of the iPad so it doesn't bind.
After doing this a couple of times you will get to where you can remove even a tightly bound iPad in about three seconds.
