Apple TV Isn't Connected To The Internet In iTunes

I rented a movie and after it download I couldn't transfer it to the Apple T.V. it kept saying that I wasn't connected to the internet but I am connected. For obvious reasons I am pretty confused. Could it be that even though on my MacBook the iTunes applications is on my notebook and the library file is in my Time Capsule? Do they both have to be on the laptop to sync a rented movie on the AT? I am curious because the AT won't even recognize the rented movie icon in the library pain when I try to stream it. The same is true if I try to sync it also. Am I crazy?

Yes, but first you need to deauthorize and then authorize again... enjoy

  • Why do I see: iTunes Help is unavailable because your computer isn't connected to the Internet.  IE9 works fine but iTunes does not connect to the store.

I have tried 4 days to get iTunes 10.4 working on my Win7 x64 machine.  I purchased a new iPhone4 and after syncing it the first time, I can't connect to the iTunes store.
When I try to run iTunes Help, I get this message "iTunes Help is unavailable because your computer isn’t connected to the Internet."  However IE9 and Google Chrome run as always...... no connection problems.
I have already uninstalled IE9 x64 and iTunes 10.4 x64 and reinstalled but still the same.  I followed all the instructions I could find about firewalls, ports, SSL etc.

When I try to use online help in CC, I get a message that says Photoshop isn't connected to the internet. But I am connected.

Did you use CS5 or CS6 in the past? Did you set those apps to use offline help only so that you didn't have to watch Adobe Air update itself every time you tried to open Help? If so, there might be an old Adobe Help (CS5 / CS6) preference lingering on your machine. You wouldn't think CC would respect it, but you would be wrong. I had to install old Adobe Help (for CS5 / CS6) and change the pref.

  • "Your computer isn't connected to the internet"

I hope I can make this succinct....
Earlier today, Airport suddenly quit working. I couldn't access the internet (getting message "your computer isn't connected to the internet") and my email wouldn't work. I restarted the computer and it worked fine, for awhile. Then the same problem arose.
I ran the network diagnostics. When i started, all Network Status lights were red (Airport, Airport settings, Network settings, ISP, Internet, Server all said "failed".)
I selected the location "automatic" and then chose network port configuration "Airport". That made the airport light turn green, but the rest remained red.
It asked me which airport network to join and i picked the appropriate one. I know the network is working because I'm using it on a separate computer to type and send this. The airport light remained green and the rest remained red.
It asked if I use PPPoE or DHCP. Since I've always used DHCP in the past, I presume that continues to be the case. So I chose DHCP.
It asked if I use a cable modem or DSL. I said yes, but it didn't need to be reset.
The first couple times I tried this diagnostic, the ISP button would turn yellow in the beginning and later a pop up would showup saying "yor network settings have changed" or something to that effect.
Any idea what might be causing this and/or how to solve it? I presume a network setting just got messed up but I have no idea what it might be.

Hi, was this after the dreaded last Security update or two?
Two things to try right now...
Try putting these numbers in Network>TCP/IP>DNS Servers...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
Then Apply. These are safer/faster than most ISP's NDS numbers, and have been patched against DNS poisoning.

  • My ipod touch isn't connecting to the internet???

The internet on my iPod touch has always worked, but today it's not connecting to anything. When I go to settings and then wi-fi it says it's connected to my internet but doesn't show at the top left bar and isn't working? I have tried turning it on and off, I've reset my network connection and have gone through the common wi-fi issues. Restart the computer
Turn off the computer with router unplugged
    Turn off Airport

    Swear at the internet
Unplug the router and turn the Airport off too
    Additional Info:
Second computer (mac) connects to the internet so it's not an internet problem.
Last few days the internet has been slowly dying on the computer (Mac OS X) in question. Meaning that the internet asks me for the router password constantly, which was a new development.
I have seen information about reseting Plists and a few other weird things, but I didn't want to do anything drastic based on someone elses issue. I figured it's best to bring my specific issue to the forum before destroying my Mac by randomly deleting Plists.

Excellent troubleshooting solutions which usually works.
Which os version are you using?
First contact your ISP.  You need to confirm that the issue is not on their end.
Change your router channel.  Sometimes this is all you will have to do.
Power cycling the router.  Read the router's user manual or contact their tech support for instructions.
    System Preferences/Internet & Network/Network
    Unlock the padlock
    Locations:  Automatic
    Highlight Airport
    Click the Assist Me button
In the popup window click the Diagnostic button.
System Preferences/Network- Unlock padlock.  Highlight Airport.  Network Name-select your name.  Click on the Advanced button.  Airport/Preferred Networks-delete all that is not your network.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined." Click the OK button and lock the padlock.  Restart your computer.

    No internet connection (wireless)
Check to see if an extra entry is present in the DNS Tab for your wireless connection (System Preferences/Network/Airport/Advanced/DNS).
Delete all extra entries that you find.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined."

  • My apple tv is not connecting to the internet via ethernet

Got home tonight, have not been having problems before this, turned on my tv and started the aptv the same as always
and got the regular splash screen with the usual icons, netflix, Hulu etc.
Went to Hulu and it went to the usual menu screen, but from there it would not connect.
Tried to restart, at the end of the restart cycle the screen said it was trying ot set time and date.
Seems like it can not do this and does not connect to the internet.
I have it on a ethernet cable to a modem that works fine for my iPhone and my laptop via wifi, and
have not had any other problems, so not being able to watch tv is pretty frustrating.
Has Apple done something in preping for next weeks iOS7 launch and suspected aptv upgrades????
    What is going on????

I would test something else connected by ethernet like the laptop to make sure it was not a router thing
then I would connect the appletv by usb to the laptop and use itunes to restore the firmware if that was the issue
then I would try  bringing it to a friend or relatives place and test it there
if all else failed it would resturn it under warrenty

  • Why can't I connect to the internet?  It says that I'm connected, but then I get messages that my iPad isn't connected to the internet.

I've tried the troubleshooting things that I've seen, but it still doesn't work.  The wifi notification on top says that I'm connected, but I can't get to any websites.
    Help!!

The wifi symbol only indicates the presence of a wifi signal, not that you are connected.
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • HT204400 Apple TV won't connect to the internet

I'Ve recently installed a new wireless router. all my devices are connecting to the Internet just fine, except my Apple TV which will connect to the network, but not the internet. It will connect, however, via ethernet. Any advice?

If it's working fine via ethernet then there is likely an issue with the wifi network. Other devices may be working, but that won't rule this out.
If you want to see an accurate picture of your network go to istumbler, netstumbler or similar to get a report, look for signal strength and noise.
Make sure DNS is set to auto on ATV (settings - general - network)
If there are other wifi devices around, if ATV is in a closed space or on top of something..this will impact performance.
Try changing channels on router (refer to manual if unsure)

  • HT1595 My apple tv won't connect to the internet.

My apple tv will connect to my network, but not to my internet.

I've had this problem for ages, which seems to have started with problematic download speeds and then resulted eventually with the inability of the ATV (2) to connect to the internet.  Like you, we were able to connect to the wi-fi network in our home, and able to connect to the computer, but our ATV was not able to connect directly to internet services or internet products available through its connection with iTunes (eg: movie rentals on the computer).  Every other wi-fi device in the house was connecting successfully, the ATV did not.
Prior to that time we'd been operating the device successfully for about 15 months.
Most web advice seems to suggest problems with  static IP addresses, or blocked 80 and 443 ports.  We've talked with Apple support, ISP support and Netgear support.
In the end, by adding   together clues given by Apple and Netgear, we worked out that the recently updated software for ATV is no longer compatible with the software of our modem router.
By updating the modem router's firmware (which was a process in itself!) our ATV is back to full functionality.
You can update your modem or modem/router by going to the home page of its manufacturer (eg: Netgear).  Model numbers and Serial Numbers are normally recorded on the bottom of the device, as is the address used to access the modem router manager, in which you can update your device.
Hope this is useful to others.

  • Ensuring the iPhone isn't connected to the internet

    Hello,
I have recently bought an iPhone.
I have managed to connect it to my home Wi-Fi network and it accesses the internet without any problems.
This is fine for home use, but I don't want to access the internet while out-and-about. I notice the user guide mentions that the iPhone will try Wi-Fi first, search for other Wi-Fi's second, and then try my Phone carrier last.
    My questions are as follows:
    1) Will the iPhone confirm that I want a connection with the internet via my phone carrier Before it actually connects?
    2) When I do connect via the phone carrier, how can I ensure that the connection has been properly disconnected when I have finished? The phone always displays 3G whether it is actually using the internet or not or just connected to the phone carrier.
    3) Is there a way to disable the iPhone connecting to the internet via the phone carrier without disabling normal phone functions or the Wi-Fi home network option?
I have a simple data package, and don't plan to connect that often unless I'm using a wireless network. As my data package is only small I want to limit accidental use, hence why I want to ba e=able to ensure I know when I am and am not connected ot the internet.
For thos of you in Australia, I'm using Telstra and the 3G network.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    Leon.

    Hi Allan,
Thanks. Your answer above seems to already put my fears at ease.
No problem with having internet connection always available so that I can have it when I need it. I don't want to turn that off. Just wanted to make sure that as long as I don't use any applications that require internet connection, I don't get connected to the cellular network internet/data transfer and thus unknowingly eat up my free data hours. And, when I do use apps that do require internet connection, the connection/data transfer will automatically cease once I simply exit the apps.
Sometimes with such high tech products, I still have the need for something basic and outright such as -- 'disconnect from internet?' to ensure that I am really disconnected and not loosing my free hours... and worse of all, getting charged for use over the free hours!

My MacBook won't connect to the Internet, but it's connected to my router. When I go to network preferences, it says that it has a self assigned ip address, and can't connect to the Internet. How can I fix this? Please help!

First thing you need I think is to get your iMac connected to the Internet.
Shut down your iMac and you iPad. Then power off your router. Wait 30 seconds and power up the router.
After the router indicates that it is connected to the Internet then start up your iMac and see if it connects. If the iMac connects to the Internet then your iPad should too.
If this power up sequence doesn't work you'll have to dig into the router setup to make sure it is working properly.
