Apple TV Keeps restarting while I watch HBO Now?

I have an older Apple TV (September 2010, I think) and it keeps restarting whenever I watch HBO Now. Just randomly, during a program it will restart and put me back to the main screen. HBO Now does remember where I left off on the program, but it happens fairly regularly (before once a day, now once an episode!) and I am not sure why. Apple TV software says it's up to date and it doesn't happen with any of the other apps I regulary run (Netflix, Hulu, WWE Network, Crackle, ABC News).
Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's connected through Wi-FI to my Apple Time Capsule and my Internet is 6MBPs DSL.

I'm cruising the forums looking for a solution to this exact problem. It's doing this on both Hulu and Netflix now.
Second gen, latest software. I've done a restart and restore. Same problem.
What the ****?

  • Apple TV keeps restarting

The video I'm playing from iTunes over my Apple TV keeps restarting every 15-20 minutes.  In order to get it back on the TV I need to deselect AppleTV on my Mac and then reselect it again.

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

  • IPhone 5 won't get past apple screen (keeps restarting)

    Hello
Bought an iphone 5 just before the ios 7 release and for the last little while the phone would shut off a After a full charge when it hit approximately 97% of full charge it would shut off!  Now it won't get past the apple screen and just keeps restarting over and over again.
Does anyone else have this problem with their iphone 5 and if so any solutions???
Our carrier Fido says this is an IOS 7 issue. Can anyone help
    Thanks
    Shep

    Hey Shep77,
That definitely sounds frustrating! To completely isolate the issue, you may want to restore your iPhone in recovery mode, as outlined in this article:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
iPhone is unresponsive and displays the Apple Logo
Review this article: iOS: Unable to update or restore.
.The above article also has great troubleshooting steps for Power issues, you may want to run through those if restoring does not resolve your issue:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
    - Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
    - Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion.
    Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
    - Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
    - After at least 15 minutes, if:
                   - The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
                   - The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
                   - Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
    - If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
                   - If the display turns on, go to step 4.
                   - If the display remains black, go to next step.
    - Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to
restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
    - If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

What happens when you install the original RAM?
    A 2009 15" model identifier 5.3 MBP will accept RAM with the following specifications:  204-pin PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM
You have installed RAM with these specifications;  DDR3, 1333 MHz.  Should you install with the correct specifications, the MBP will probably operate correctly.
The best sources of Man compatible RAM are OWC and Crucial.

  • Iphone 5 keeps restarting while syncing, updating or pluged in

    Hello,
first of all sorry for my enlgish.. so please, be patient...  i'm having a problem with my iphone 5 that showed up after i updated to iOS 8.1.2. First i saw that after the whole night charging, battery shows that its 52% charged so i restarted and that was the start of the biggest problem.. after restart phone starts to rebooting by itsef every 2 minutes. I've tried to restore it, but that didnt helped me so i took it to apple service. They said that whey cant help it, because phone was bought not from mobile operator and they cant change it without a charge(im out of warranty). I took back, tried factory reset, but nothing changed after. But, after i restored from backup, disconnected from itunes, updated apps(everything took really long when its restarting every 2 minutes...) and when it was finnished(app uploading), phone restarted couple more times and now it works for about an hour, but when i connect it to itunes, charging, syncing, updating apps it starts all over again its rebooting every 2 minutes like before.
Is there anybody who had/having the same problem? know the solution or at least know what could be wrong with it? is that a battery, memory, something from the hardware or software problem?
    thank you for any information.

Are you using the USB cable that came with the phone?
    Is it charging when connected?
This might be a hardware issue, depending on the use of the phone the battery might be not charging anymore or damaged otherwise.

  • 5s keeps restarting while charging..stuck on apple logo

I just updated my 5s 32g -space gray to ios 7.0.2 evertime i plug it in the wall charger it shuts off and blinks the apple logo.. tried restoring it a few times same thing keeps happening..
also the power button is loose and keep shaking a bit im not sure if thats also normal or not

The power buttons seems like it is fine. The rest of your problems, ie not Restoring is a very bad sign. Make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple or take receipt, box and everything in it back to where you bought it.

While playing a DVD in my Sony Blu-ray BD/DVD player it keeps shutting off, then automatically restarting itself and goes back to the home menu. It is a BDV-2100 Series. Any suggestions? Hi Thebestest1v1er,
Based on your description of being able to Safe Boot (holding down the shift key) but not boot normally, it sounds like your startup/restart issue may be related to one of the things that Safe Boot disables. You can find more information about them here:
OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564
It may also be related to a disk or file system issue (as that is also something checked during Safe Boot). You may find these articles helpful as well:

  • Apple TV keeps restarting/rebooting in an almost endless loop

So this is the second ATV I have setup in the last two weeks. All iTunes/Mac OS software is up to date. ATV comes installed with 2.4. I have been able to set it up, stream, sync, control with Remote, etc. However this time the problem occurred about four days into it running smoothly as opposed to one day last time. My problem is it just sits in an endless rebooting loop. I see the Apple, then the menu in which it is frozen for about 5 seconds, then the apple, etc. Anyone else having this problem? Two units, the same problem in two weeks, I can't be the only one right? Thanks in advance for the help.

One more update and it just gets weirder. So I perform a factory restore yesterday and go through the motions and everything works fine just as it did before. This morning I get up and the screen saver is working with all the pictures I have synced to ATV, I am able to view the moves I have synced to ATV. However when I try to play the music that is streaming from my iMac over the wired network it is all connected to, I get a message saying 'Apple Tv cannot play the selected song'. It happens like this with all songs. So, I put the ATV in standby, unplug ATV from the wall, replug it in and voila, we are in the endless reboot/restarting cycle again. Same thing happened the first time this unit failed. I get the cannot play message, I put it in standby, unplug it and then the reboot/restarting cycle happens again. It's probably the battery indicator, not the battery itself.  Run it down until it shuts down automatically.  Ignore any low battery alerts that appear.  Then, charge it overnight with the 10W charger.  That should clear things for you.
