Apple TV manual update

I would like to install the latest Apple TV update on a 160GB Apple TV.
I am living in an area with a VERY slow internet connection and each time I try to download the Apple TV update, the download starts and after some time I get a message saying that the update could not be downloaded. I suspect this is due to the download timing out due to the slow speed of my internet connection.
Is there a way to download the update on a computer (e.g. at work or next time I am abroad) and installing the update on the Apple TV from there?

no, not that i am aware of.

  • How do I set iTunes to manually update songs without connecting iPod first?

Hi. I just got a new computer and downloaded iTunes. The User Guide says that when you connect the iPod, iTunes automatically updates all songs in your iTunes and deletes songs that are not in iTunes. As far as I can see by reading the User's Guide, iPod has to be connected to change the setting to "manual update". I already have an iPod with songs in it that are not on the iTunes that I just downloaded. I'm afraid that if I connect my iPod, it will erase the songs already in my iPod because of the default "automatic update" setting. Does anyone know how I can change the setting to "manual update" BEFORE I connect the iPod to the computer?
    Thanks for your help!

  • Apple Remote Desktop update 3.5.2

since Apple Remote Desktop update 3.5.2 when I access to a computer using two screens I get black screen or partial displays

    Hi Cheryl,
I'm not using "Mirror Displays" so I was not aware that a bug was also existing there [Apple really worked like pigs for this update of ARD admin]...
So with ARD admin 3.5.2 the "working" screen arrangement is the following:
(no "Mirror Displays" => dual screen)
Now to downgrade to ARD admin 3.5.1 they are two ways depending where you bought it:
    - AppleStore/Retail [my case]: download the DMG (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1424), trash the application "Remote Desktop" and try to install fresh from the DMG. If a problem occurs, you will need to remove completly ARD: do a Spotlight search for "This Mac" with "filename containing" "remotedesktop" with criteria "System files" "are included" and trash everything (that is consistent with ARD), try to install again from the DMG.
    - AppStore: no chance for you, only TimeMachine might help you, or if you manually backup every application after each update.
    Good luck.

  • Does Apple plan to update iWeb?

I've enjoyed using iWeb 09 for just over a year, but I'm beginning to wonder if this program is going to be around in the future. I'm a small business guy with limited time to spend on making a web site, so if Apple is going to ditch iWeb I think I'd rather spend my time learning another web-design tool like Sandvox. It's a pain to start over with another program, but I can't see any alternative if iWeb is headed nowhere. Does anyone share my concern?

So glad you asked! Don't get me wrong--I love iweb. But as a small business, I feel like I am outgrowing it and I really hope  Apple will recognize that many small businesses use this program and wish it had a few more "business" features. For example:
    SEO
A built-in store for customer purchases using PayPal
Ability to create custom templates that can be used across ALL pages. Right now, if you create a custom look (not using one of the provided templates), you have to manually duplicate it for every page. There is no way to save it as a template. For someone with lots of pages, that is tedious and time-consuming. I am in the process of redesigning my site. As a new user, I just picked an existing template. Now I want to create a custom look and I have. But in order to duplicate it on my existing pages, I have to manually update each one. I have worked with the One-to-One group at my local Apple retail store and the Business Specialists. But they tell me that there is no way to switch over my existing pages without manually reworking each one, and I have lots of pages.
    Seamless integration with Google Analytics
Search function on every page. Customers/Readers are often looking for specific content and it would be helpful if they had the ability to search for it regardless of where they are in the site.
    Drop-down Navigation Bar
Contact page with automatic response to customers who want to subscribe to blog or updates
Newsletter integration with sign-up form and auto-responder
Ability to customize headers, footers and sidebars particularly for navigation to other pages and allow them to be selected for use on any pages
Ability to Email a link to individual pages. Right now you can only email the URL address of the home page. This doesn't allow you to send someone a link to a specific article or blog page.
The ability to assign default settings for subsequent pages for things like font type and sizes. This should be flexible enough to change if needed, but right now (because we can't set custom templates), we have to change the settings for each individual page.
The pages load slowly and if you have imbedded video, this is even slower. Not all customers have the fastest download speed.
Thanks so much--I really do hope that Apple will decide that the future of iweb is more than home use! It has SO MUCH potential for small businesses.

My iphone hangs any time.I see a call coming but i cannot attend. My call drops anytime and i cant even end the call. The settings page doesnt respond many times.I have given the phone to Apple care , they update the software and return it back to me.IT WORKS FINE FOR 3-4 DAYS AGAIN THE SAME. Its under warranty and i am disappointed with the Apple product and service

If you used your backup to restore the data after it got returned, set it up as new device and don't use the backup data afterwards. It seems that some data inside the backup are corrupt. Follow this article and set up the account info and other setting manually after that:

  • ITunes: No option for manual update

    Hi All,
I recently bought a new IPOD shuffle. I tried to install iTunes from the CD provided with the ipod, but it was giving some error at the end of installation. I have norton antivirus on my machine and Windows XP professional. Finally I downloaded iTunes from Apple's website(Version 6.0.5.20) and that worked. But this iTunes does not have manual update option.
Then I used itune to transfer mp3 files on my CDs to the ipod. Ipod works fine. However when I dock ipod to get some other music files from different CDs, the songs from first CD are erased from my ipod.
Could anybody please suggest some solution?
    Thanks,
    MYR.

The iPod shuffle does not support the manual update option. You need to use a different model of iPod if you want to sync songs to it from two or more iTunes libraries, or if you want to put music on the iPod without keeping it in the iTunes library.

  • How to manually update itunes

I just tried to update my itunes with the version released today.  It failed and now itunes will not boot.  How di U manually  update to latest versionN

    Hello, kenengeron.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I would recommend uninstalling iTunes and all of it's components.  Below, I have included the article that covers the specific order that the programs need to be removed.  After the steps have been completed, attempt to install iTunes with a new download of the install package http://www.apple.com/itunes/.

  • Two questions about manually updating

    Thanks.
I had read enough on these boards to know I ought to manually update my iPod rather than automatically update. But then I kept getting the "do not disconnect" flashing on my iPod. I went in to disable disk use in preferences as I'd read in some threads. It was grayed out- I couldn't disable it. I enabled automatic updates in the purchased playlists only, figuring that would limit damage of lost songs. Except it didn't. I have very few since I'm just starting out but now I'm also missing those songs in the playlist in iTunes. So...
    1) How can I disable disk use AND manually update? Or should I just not be concerned about disconnecting my iPod as long as I don't hear the drive whirring, as the Apple website says?
    2) I don't suppose there's any way to recover the lost songs?
    TIA

    No need to be afraid
Just make sure you let your iPod finish updating before trying to eject it.
And! If for some reason it seems to be disconnected (no longer appears in iTunes or Windows) but the screen still reads "Do Not Disconnect," shut down the computer and wait for the iPod to return to the main menu before you unplug it.

  • Chinese Word list update 1.6 has been released by Apple but no update to my Mac. Help Please

Apple has released Chinese Word list update 1.6 on May 6, 2013. It is a 105 kb update file. I have Chinese word list updte from 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, and 1.5 installed on my Mac. So I think I need it.
But many days passed, no Chinese Word list Update 1.6 is being installed automatically on my Mac 15 inches with retina display.
Where on earth can I get this chinesewordlistupdate.pkg file to manually update my Mac to 1,6?
And I really don't understand why Apple release this update in this kind of ashin many times and it is very anoying. I have contacted Apple support many times, but there is no clear response and they said there is no such kind of update.
Here is the link t prove that the update exist and has been released

Help clarify and if possible, please point me to download this version 1.6 pkg file please

I think you are mistaken about needing it.  Since you do not write in Chinese, it will not be of any more use to you than were the earlier Chinese word list updates you have posted about here in the past.  Nor can I imagine that anyone in these forums will be able to help you get it, any more than they could the last time.

But I wish you good luck!
Apple now has a special discussion forum for Chinese.  You might want to ask there:

you're not disabling anything in the settings menu.
the update menu allows you to a manual update. it doesn't give you any option to disable updates.

  • HT2304 IR Receiver firmware update Apple released an update that essentially changes how the IR receiver communicates with the OS

remote no longer works the likely culprit is a missed IR Receiver firmware update.  Back around version 2.1 or 2.2 of the Apple TV operating system Apple released an update that essentially changes how the IR receiver communicates with the OS.  If your Apple TV missed that update and then later gets updated to the newer 3.0.X firmware your Apple TV will no longer respond to input from your remote, though the light on the front of the AppleTV will blink.  The solution is to load the update manually, but unfortunately that requires ssh access on the AppleTV.

    Thanks Dave,
You are a genius. I can't tell you how much I appreciate being benifit of your knowledge and willingness to share it with others. A thousand times over, thank you!! I burned the little utility to a CD on another machine/setup, ran the little sucker and restarted in OS X like a hoot!!! About 8 minutes later I had the processor upgrade installed and see quite an improvment. Again, thanks and kudos be upon you,

  • Folks in the U.S. - please stop manually updating for 1.1.2

    Everyone,
There are dangers to updating manually when it comes to firmware. For some of you, there's been no problems. Others are having a lot of trouble and you may end up doing serious harm to your iPhone. At the very least, you may void your warranty.
Everyone should stop applying the manual update. There's a reason it's not available via iTunes and until it is, it's better left alone.
This is my truly professional opinion, and I simply want to save you the mess you could get yourself into.

Wow...the psychology present on these boards is quite intriguing. It seems that a great many people are trying to validate their decisions by getting others to take the path they trodded.
    I didn't update...you shouldn't either
    I updated...you should do likewise.
Scott...with all due respect...relax...and you owe me a week's salary. AppleCare did exactly as I stated earlier. Instruct me to apply the 1.1.2 update.
I'm including my original post below.
To be clear...I am not advocating one position or another. Update or not...find your own path and may it bring you joy. My only editorial comment is that folks really should consider making their own decision and not blindly following my post, Scott's post, or a dialogue box that says "Update Now." Consider the available facts...make the best decision you can and own it.

------------------------------ Snip from Original Post -----------------------
With all due respect to folks who have been using these forums much longer than me...there is some significant misinformation being passed around. Allow me to give you my direct experience and take from it what you will.
My own iPhone was having the known 1.1.1 issue of randomly heating up and draining the battery, so I called AppleCare and ran through a variety of possible fixes...no joy. I was about to exchange it at my local Apple Store when 1.1.2 came out.
I called AppleCare and AppleCare told me to install 1.1.2
So far (fingers crossed) this seems to have fixed my heating issue. I also has:
    1) Improved Volume
    2) Added Custom Ringtone section to Settings
    3) Improved the speed of Edge (tested this with tools...not a guess)
    4) Improved speed and smoothness of Application Loads and Unloads
    More Facts:
    1) If you do a restore, iTunes will load 1.1.2 [Edit...others report this as hit or miss depending on a variety of issues]
    2) If you do an update (as of 12:50 pm), iTunes says 1.1.1 is current.
If you want to load 1.1.2 on your phone now, you have two primary options:
    1) Do a restore and let iTunes handle everything -- Downside is that you will have to reload all your music and videos, and restore settings from your backup.
    2) Do a manual update. on Win32, you do this by shift-clicking Update. on Mac it is alt-click Update.
AppleCare stepped me through the process and my update went off without a hitch.
I asked these specific questions of AppleCare because I'm paranoid:
Q: Is the 1.1.2 build available for download the current software? A: Yes
    Q: Is there a Europe version and a U.S. version A: No
Q: If I have a problem with my phone and I have 1.1.2 on it, will I have any problem getting support? A: <pause> Uh...no...its the current software and I just told you to load it. (now AppleCare knows I'm paranoid too..wee!)
So, there you go...do with this information what you will, but everything I stated are facts, rather than impressions of what Apple "wants" or "thinks" or otherwise. Free your mind Neo...take the red pill or the blue one...but don't let others tell you what to think...ask for facts not opinions.
