Apple tv mavericks

Using Mac Book Pro running Mavericks my Apple TV can show the image for a little while and then it dissapears. Any ideas on what to do?

Thanks...
It seems to have been easier. I restarted the ATV and now it keeps connected all the time! ;-)

Is anyone having trouble with Apple Mail (Mavericks)? It has suddenly stopped sending/receiving iCloud mail. (Gmail, Yahoo Mail are working.)

    Hi Stephen,
If you are having issues with Mail in Mavericks, you may want to make sure you have updated to the most recent release. You may find the following article helpful:

    Yes, no problem at all.
    I'm running it here.

  • Apple Mail (Mavericks), Viewing size of list is too small.how do you increase the size of the email message list.  The font is too small, I can hardly read them.

In Apple Mail, using Mavericks, how do you increase the size of the email message list that displays on the left side of the screen?
The font size is so small.
    Thanks.

Thank you for responding.  After investigating and checking further, it was clear that only one of your suggestions changes the font size of the list of emails, also called the In-box.  And that is the display resolution.
However, changing the display resolution affects the dots per inch of everything, everywhere and makes it larger.
Given the high end fee Apple charges for their products, and the generally well developed software they provide, it is hard to imagine they have not corrected this obvious slight of effort on the inbox text. At times Apple's "one-size-fits-all" and "it's our way or no way" mentality astounds me and makes me want to run back to Microsoft.
Evidently this is a well known mistake, which has yet to receive any attention.
Again, thank you for your effort and assistance on my behalf.

  • CS 5.1 and Apple OS Maverick compatiblity

I have CS 5.1. Runs beautifully. No issues. Just found out that my OS is not supported any longer and I need to upgrade. Apple told me to check to see if my software is compatible with Maverick. Is CS 5.1 compatible with Apple's new OS Maverick? I've looked and can't find anything on Adobe website that tells me about compatibility with any CS before CS 6.
    Please help me.

That's because versions before CS6 were not tested by Adobe. They're not being sold any more. CS5 or 5.5 is probably OK, earlier than that it's a crap shoot

  • When will Apple fix Mavericks?

I now have 3 threads on the Support Community and none have been solved:
Printing Problems in Mavericks ? just posted
Re: Preference in iCal ignored.  How to fix? yesterday
Re: How to stop aol.com mail from being in my .mac mail account.
                   Not solved
There are numerous other problems:  slow to load, wheels of death, difficulty changing icons, et al.
I keep Force Quit window Open so that I can sess an not-responding/responding alternation or at all.
It is like a new bug a day!
I installed 10.9 on my MBP without difficulty.  But now I feel like I am back on Macintosh II.
Fortunately I cloned my MBP to an external hard disk before installing Mavericks.  So I am able to choose a different start-up disk and it is like night-&-day difference between 10.9 and 10.8.6 (even though that external disk is a USB 3.0 connection)
From reading the threads under Maverick it appears to me the problems are "system wide"!  Aside from a few issues (like Google HD), everyone is posting a multiplicity of  difficulties, some shared, most not.

Spotlight has indexed OK so far as I can see.
I am now having keyboard (Apple wired) troubles.   In Spotlight e.g., Cmd-Option does not show the location of an item found/selected.  Also often Cmd-Q does not quit and Cmd-O does not open file/application.  Often double click does not open a file on desktop.  I am having to locate the Application (in App. Folder) and then get the app to open the file.
Double click on quit and open does not highlight/select the word so that I can change to bold!  I have to drag the cursor across to highlight the word and then hit bold.

  • I can´t be more upset with apple and Mavericks

Ever since I´ve updated, on Apple´s advise, to Mavericks, my mail application is useless.
My smtp´s are offline, my imap account is 70% of the time disconnected. I´m really dissapointed and frustrated since I´ve lost my last 2 working days trying to solve somehting as elementary as my mails !!!!!!

Try a third party application. I use AirMail, available from the Mac App Store, and it's simply fantastic. $1.99 (and is worth far more)
It's not really your fault though, Mail seems to be having issues with IMAP accounts across the board, particularly with GMail.

  • Apple ID maverick and i cloud

i have 5 different users on my mac. i jut installed maverick and when every user logs in for the first time, the appel id is used. • Is there a way to get Creative Suite CS5 Design Standard (Win XP version) to run on a new Apple OSX Maverick?

I understand Adobe's license is for the Win or the Mac environment, but not both. I installed VMWare's Fusion and Windows 7 Pro on the Mac but that did not work. Is there anything I can do besides purchasing a new license?

    Thanks Steve,
I find this so discouraging. As a self-published author, I scraped together some money to purchase CS5 Design Standard about 2 years ago. My most recent manuscript has taken longer to develop, and then Microsoft abandoned Win XP for an inferior product (Win 8.1 which is why I went to an Apple). I need Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator at a minimum to independently publish my work.
With Cloud at $49.99/month, I would never regain that expense in my profits over several years. Even CS6 Design Standard at $1300 is out of my price range. Independently published authors rarely make a profit and I am in that category. My discouragement is that this may stop my work - because of a product that I already own! I am recently retired and find that one of the two things I was going to do in retirement may go away.
    Discouraged,

  • When will Apple fix Mavericks Bootcamp issue?

I am going round & round in cirlcles with this problem as are many of us on here. From what I can gather there is no easy fix. I know that it is a generalised questions but can anyone hazard a guess as to when Apple may fix this? If anyone has information with regards to direct contact with Apple regarding this issue then maybe you can post the information here so that we can all get the latest updates on any potential progress with regards to a fix.

  • Apple Mouse - Mavericks scrollen

    Hallo Community,

Which mouse are you using, MightyMouse or MagicMouse?

  • How to fix brush lag in Photoshop CC with a Cintiq 13 HD (on apple's Mavericks OS)?

I bought a Cintiq 13 HD about a month ago and have been using it with Photoshop to do a book cover and to teach concept art at a university.
Everything with Adobe Photoshop was working fine, as far as I can remember/noticed, until this last week or so.
All of a sudden there is a significant amount of brush lag—to the point of Photoshop being completely unusable.
I have spent hours pouring through the web looking for answers, but to no avail.
In Photoshop, however, there is anywhere from a tiny delay to a full 1 second delay—afterwards the brush *usually* catches back up with me.
If I try to jot down a dozen small lines quickly, sometimes Photoshop skips brush strokes altogether, or only puts down one brush stroke "space" or stamp, whatever you call it.
This happens even if I'm using the most basic airbrush with default settings—I'll have a delay, an occasional skipped brush stroke altogether, and an occasional tiny dot where I first started the brush stroke followed by nothing until I lift up the pen and go to the next stroke.
I also use Corel Painter X3 in my work, and there is no lag whatsoever. I jot down a dozen tiny lines as fast as I can and the Cintiq and Corel keep right up with me.
I have tried playing with the GPU and OpenGL to no avail. My GPU drivers are up to date (I'm on a mac, so it's automatic). I've tried changing the Performance Preferences to Basic, Normal, and Advanced (being sure to restart Photoshop each time) without any real solution. (I will say that changing the GPU settings down from Advanced seemed to produce a slightly faster brush stroke in general, but not in the sense that I'm talking about in this post. More of just the regular lag kind of thing that's to be expected.)
    I'm on a Mid-2010 Macbook Pro
    2.53 GHz Intel Core i5
    8 GB Ram
NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512 MB graphics card
Using a SSD drive 512 GB free space
    OS X 10.9.5
All Adobe products are completely up to date and I've tried reinstalling the Cintiq drivers.
    I'm out of ideas.
At my university I'll be teaching my class the basics of vehicle design very soon here, and I would prefer to use Photoshop over Painter for this sort of thing, due to its superior non-painting tools. But I can't paint when my brush strokes randomly don't appear on the screen, or lag so much that I can't see what I'm doing if I'm working quickly.
    Thank you for your help.
    Bryan Beus

First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to try to help out. It
    is much appreciated.
The two things that first come to mind are: I have many friends in the
industry who paint solely in Photoshop and do just fine. My computer is
technically "old," but the specs are still just fine—even the graphics card
is the exact same one that is in the new Cintiq Companions (the all-in-one
    computer/cintiq machines).
And, more so, I was painting on it for a few weeks without noticing
anything. A part of me wonders, did I just not notice it until it became
    dramatically worse?
I do remember painting fur, which requires making tons of small brush
strokes over an extended period of time, and I don't remember there being
    any lag.
By the way, I forgot to mention: I've even tried going into the Performance
preferences and disabling the graphics card altogether. No luck. Still an
    issue.
As far as painting at 100%: I do notice an amount of improvement. The one
brush stamp, or space, whatever you call it, issue only happened on the
first brush stroke (every time) and then just once otherwise. The lag was
tremendous—and I compared it to Painter's performance, which had no issues
    whatsoever.
I am really hoping to be able to rely on Photoshop more and more, as its
tools for other aspects of image manipulation are far more robust than
Painter's. And the working compatibility with Adobe InDesign, Flash, and
Adobe Media Encoder are sooooooo useful for speeding up the workflow.
Hopefully we can find out what's going wrong.
I'm truly baffled on this one.

  • How do I disable automatic hyperlinking in Apple Mail, Mavericks?

I typed the text of an email address with 'at' instead of @ and the remainder of the email address. I expected it to appear as all text but part of it came out as a link (I did not set it as a link) which linked to my website which I did not want. I just wanted the text to appear and I have tried several ways to disable this automatic feature without success. One suggestion was to disable smart links via the edit menu but this did not prevent the auto link thing happening. Help please.

I see what you mean. You can send an email with a web address that is not a link in your Mail body, and it arrives as though you had made the link active before sending. My original response should have suppressed this behavior, and appears to do so before the Mail is sent. I find no Mail Preference, or menu setting that can prevent this automatic link activation behavior after pressing the send button.

  • Sync Services eliminated from Mavericks - can no longer sync contacts

I clearly made a big error updating to Mavericks. I only discovered after the installation that Mavericks no longer supports Sync Services, which was critical to my ability to sync my personal contacts and calendars to all of my devices. In the absence of restoring my computer back to Mountain Lion, I am wondering whether there is anything I can do, but I fear the incompatibilities are too great to surmount.
My work email, contacts, and calendar are on a 2003 Microsoft Exchange server, and I have no power to change that. That apparently means that the only Mac email client I can use to sync my work contacts and calendar is Microsoft Entourage 2008. (The email is less of a problem, as I believe I could access it through IMAP.) I had also been using Entourage for many years for my personal email, contacts, and calendar, so it has been nice having everything centralized in one program. To sync my personal contacts and calendar, I was using Sync Services to sync everything first with Apple's Address Book and iCal/Calendar, and then those were synced with my online Google account to serve the rest of my devices.
I had everything set up, as described above, to conveniently sync everything in all directions. Then came Mavericks and the unexpected loss of Sync Services. Now, Entourage 2008 is completely isolated from the outside world with regard to contacts and calendar events, and I believe the same would be true of the newer Outlook 2011. (I never even bothered to upgrade to Outlook 2011, because it apparently is not compatible with 2003 Exchange Server, so it would not have functioned with my work contacts and calendar.) Apple Mail is also apparently not compatible with 2003 Exchange Server. I tried DAVMail to serve as an intermediary to no avail.
Then, I thought, well, perhaps I could continue to use Entourage 2008 for work email, contacts, and calendar, and switch to Apple Mail, Address Book, and Calendar for my personal email, contacts, and calendar. That is not particularly convenient, but perhaps it would not be too bad. However, I cannot figure out how to transfer my hundreds of calendar events from Entourage 2008 to Apple Calendar. There is an "Import from Entourage" function in the Calendar program, but nothing ever gets imported. It will launch Entourage, if Entourage is not already running, and it will crash Entourage sometimes, but nothing ever gets imported.
I can also export my calendar events from Entourage in RGE format (some sort of archive format), and I could probably also get them into Outlook 2011 and then export them in OLM format. However, Calendar cannot handle either of those either. I am also not particularly impressed with the functionality of Calendar relative to Entourage/Outlook's calendar system.
So, now I am wondering whether my best option is to restore my computer to Mountain Lion and hope that my work will eventually change to a 2007 or newer version of Exchange Server. It seems that there are a lot more syncing options on the Windows side of things, as well, so I am thinking my next computer is going to be Windows, and I am due for a new one soon.

I restored to 10.8.5 using Time Machine. However, Time Machine immediately seemed to get confused and tried backing up my entire entire hard drive, even though I had just restored it and nothing had changed. This process went on for like six hours, and I was afraid to interrupt it. In the end, it failed, because the backup drive was too full. But it kept trying unsuccessfully to backup the whole thing, and I could not figure out a way to make it stop! Eventually, I had to reformat the backup drive and start over with a new backup, which took another eight hours.
I am going to buy a new computer in the next few months, because my current Mac is over five years old, but I will likely switch to Windows after 20 years of using a Mac at home. It saddens me a bit, and I know that my sync problem with Entourage/Outlook is probably mostly the fault of Microsoft. However, I must have compatibility with my system at work, and the simple fact is that is not possible on the Mac without jumping through hoops.
In addition, Apple presented Mavericks as a free upgrade in the App Store and promoted all of its alleged new features, but they did not list the things that had been removed (including the Sync Services functionality on which I depended). Given the widespread usage of Office for Mac, I would think it might have been good for them to reveal that broken functionality more prominently. Then, of course, there was the fiasco of trying to restore things back with Time Machine.
    Sigh....
