Apple tv menu displayed over video content

During airplay and occasionally while playing video content on the Apple TV, the atv menu is displayed over the video content. This goes away by restarting the device but it is only a matter of time before it happens again. Does anyone now how this can be avoided or of an easier/permanent fix? It is annoying to keep restarting the device.

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router.
Reset the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings)
Restore the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Restore)

Have you done google searches for it ("Apple 30" cinema display")? That's all I can recommend.
A quick google search turned up this page which apparently lists some new 30"s.
Note, I did not follow those links to see if "new" really meant "new".

Apple TV menu showing over now playing screen

My Apple TV menu stays showing over the top of the movie/TV show/music video etc that is selected to play? I can't work out how to make it disappear and can't find any other similar issues in the community - thanks

This is showing up on videos I try to view. I have latest update. It is a box that displays over video that says, get video URL, get embed code, etc. how do I correct it?

A Box has just started showing up that has the following.
get video url
get video URL at current time
Get embed code
report playback issue
get debug info
stats for nerds
about the HTML.5 player
this is on every video on face book. How to fix?

I had the same issue.
I had a youtube downloader app that had a plug-in installed on my Home Safari. I deleted that app. and the plugin. Not sure if that was the culprit, but I figured I'd try.Thought maybe some bug crossed over when syncing the two safaris.
Anyway, I ended up unlinking my Mobile Safari to my Home Safari (iPad; iCloud/Safari/OFF)
A prompt will come up asking what you want to do with previously synced data: Delete from My iPad (don't worry, you'll get it back)
Your bookmarks should disappear.
Reset HOME Safari : Safari/Reset Safari (everything checkmarked)
Turn ON the Mobile Safari again (if you want to relink to the Home version) or keep off (and rebuild it from scratch on iPad alone)
Personally, I turned it on, got my bookmarks back then turned it off and pressed Keep on my iPad.
Now the two aren't linked and I have the bulk of my bookmarks back.
There might be variations of this solution so play around with the process and be sure to refresh your Mobile Safari browser on a video clip to see if it takes.

Blue haze, layer over video content

Hi,
I recently bought a new mac mini server 2,3 Ghz i7 HD Graphics 4000 (brand new) and expanded it with one SSD and 16GB of ram.
The monitor is a Dell monitor U2413
The mini is connected either with HDMI --> HDMI or Thunderbolt --> Displayport.
Both setups give the same problem.
I have not tried the DVI port yet as I don't have a cable.
When a video is played in a browser (Safari or Firefox) within 3 seconds a blue-ish (purple - pink) haze or layer comes over the video image.
When the video is pauzed, the haze is gone, starting the video again and within 3 seconds the haze is back.
This happens when a video is played in a window in the browser and also in full screen mode.
When I hook up my Macbook Pro Retina with the Dell monitor (Thunderbolt --> Displayport) I do not have this issue.
What causes this problem?

APPLE 23'' CINEMA DISPLAY AND VIDEO CARD

My new Mac Pro (2.66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xenon-8GB RAM) has a NVIDIA GeForce GT 120. I am thinking to upgrade it to either the ATI Radeon HD 4870, or the just coming out NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 (manufactured by EVGA).
Any information for the two products, comparison charts, charachteristics etc will be very helpful and wellcomed.

Menus are displaying over the video and I have to restart Apple TV to fix it. Anyone seen this?

I'm experiencing an issue with Apple TV that's annoying. Every so often, when I start video (any video - movie or TV show) that menu doesn't fade out. In other words, I see the Apple TV menu over top of the video, which is in the background. The only recovery I've found it restarting Apple TV. It's happening about 1 in 5 times starting video. Anyone else experiencing this? Is it a known issue?
I'm on release 6.1.1 (6698.99.19)

I understand that sporadically the Apple TV menu doesn’t disappear when you play video content. In this situation I would recommend restoring the Apple TV back to factory settings and setting it up fresh. This step should help unexpected or inconsistent behavior within the Apple TV interface. Apple TV Menu Icons Show Up Over Video PLaying

Menu icons keep showing up over video I am playing. I have restarted and that will fix it for a while, but it keeps coming back.

I’ve been having the same issue’s [AirPlay / HomeSharing notworking or working intermittently] after some digging and testing I found that this worked…please note I made the change 1 hour ago and things are still working.
Steps to Fix:
Login to the Router
Select Wireless settings
Change the “Wireless Mode” change it to 11G only. [Default is mixed mode]
Power off your computer[s], Apple TV and all other connecteddevices [wireless/wired].
Unplug the power on your router and wait 20 seconds…then plug itback in.
Once the router is full started up [5 min]…now turn on all youconnected devices such as computer[s], Apple TV and all other connected devices[wireless/wired]
You should now be able to access Airplay as well as HomeSharing.

HT201177 switching to multiple displays via i-mac and apple tv works great in video but the audio doesn't switch over.

When I switch to multiple displays the video transfers perfectly through my Apple TV but the audio doesn't come through unless I turn the volume all the way up to it's maximum level, and at that, it's hardly discernible.

Safari will not display video content/flash etc on websites ie youtube etc

I am running Panther 10.3.9 and Safari 1.3.2 (v312.6). When trying to access Youtube, Facebook etc Safari does not display video/animation etc and so Safari closes with an error. It will also not play video content on the Apple website. I would also like to know the following if someone could please help; What is the best software to upgrade to ie Tiger? etc ; What is the maximum memory upgrade for my machine and what would I ask for and best place to buy? You may find some improved online performance with Panther 10.3.9 with
the last supported Flash and Shockwave players installed (older ones have
to be uninstalled) and though the use of Camino browser since it is up-to-date.
There still will be some limitations; but if you have the correct Flash/Shockwave
players for Panther installed and get Camino, and use it as a default replacement
for that ancient Safari, that would make a difference. Also, it always makes sense
to get more RAM in an older computer since they usually shipped with very little.
In the case of older computers, often the capacity of the hard disk drive was also
a matter of marginalization. A large enough drive to have plenty of free space in
it, after applications and the OS X is installed, so the system can have room for
temporary files and Virtual Memory, then it can run the last supported OS X ok.
An externally enclosed bootable hard drive (FireWire enclosed unit) could be
used to add space or a second system for use when at a desktop, so for the
sake of discussion, the internal drive would not necessarily need replaced to
check out a different operating system that may need more room in a drive.
RAM is an easy fix; and a new browser from Camino.org - plus those players.

Buttons over video is crashing Apple DVD player!

I have 4 menus (tracks) that use buttons over video. The first one plays just fine- the buttons come up after a second & disappear 30 seconds later(then the menu continues into a film). The other 3 menus crash 1-2 seconds before the buttons over video forces the subtitle to become visible. here's what i've done to troubleshoot:
-set a different menu to be first play
-swapped out the m2v/ac3 files to see if that was causing the issue
-moved my menus/tracks to different VTSs (using dvdsp 4)
-shifted the hi-lite markers forward and back to various times
-swapped out the overlay file
All my tracks were created exactly the same- using the same BOV structure (13 buttons in all)... I'm completely baffled. One works fine and the rest don't work at all!!
p.s. i burned the disc and tested it on a regular dvd player.. seems to work fine, but it still crashes on the computer.

I figured out the problem so I'll wrap up the thread in case someone else runs into this problem...
I was using dvdSP's ability to "offset" the overlay file in order to make my highlights match up perfectly. For some reason if the offset differs from one overlay to the next in the same subtitle stream, it causes apple dvd player to crash.
example:
(all motion menus were created on one track with BOV & then separated into stories for easy targeting)
subtile(BOV) 1 had an overlay file offset to 0x & -4y & subtitle(BOV)2, my second menu, had an overlay file offset to 3x & -1y.
The first one would play fine, but as soon as apple dvd player detected the next subtitle it would crash. I solved the problem by editing my overlay files in photoshop to compensate for the offsets & leaving the offset in DVDSP untouched. weird... but it works now.

Buttons over video, subtitle stream displays on wrong story!

Here's a quick run down of my project:
the client has a video program which should play two different ways. the first button on my main menu should play the video program with no subtitle streams on. the second button on my main menu enables the same program to be played only now with subtitles stream 1 turned on. the subtitle stream is serving as buttons that appear over the video which jump to other submenus.
my problem is that the first button, no matter what i've tried, still displays the subtitles stream though i don't want it to. i have one track of the video with two stories, 1 for display without the subtitle track and the other to display with the subtitle track. the button for the 1st story is set with the "view" option unchecked for subtitle stream 1 while the second is set with the "view" box checked...yet it still displays both! i've checked my disc options and the subtitle track's "view" is unchecked...
i'm at a loss for what else to try. please help!

i'm encountering the exact same problem with buttons over video in dvd studio pro. despite of the fact that the simulation within dvd studio pro works flawlessly, after buidling the video_TS folder and opening it in the dvd-player application, you can't hide the subtitles anymore (you can set the subtitle-streams in the menu to whatever you like but the subtitles never disappear). the same problem exists if i burn or build and format a physical dvd.
help is really appreciated! thanks in advance for every hint!

Spry menu bar content displays under flash content

I have a spry menu bar with sub bars and below that menu bar
I have flash video. Well, the submenu content of menu bar is not
fully displayed, as flash content blocks it. Is it possible to
order the flash content (or menu bar) somehow i.e send to back,
bring to front?

All Active content on a page will always rise to the top, so
to speak,
including Flash, certain form elements, Java applets, and
Active X controls.
This means that each of these will poke through layers. There
is not a good
cross-browser/platform reliable way to solve this issue, but
if you can be
confident in your visitors using IE 5+ or NN6+, then you can
use the Flash
wmode parameter (however, Safari does not support this
properly!).

Detail: I am having a HTML from, having text box, displayed using UIWebView. If user types in text box it shows the keyboard. Now If user tap and hold on text box it shows a popup menu. Now while keyboard and pop up are being displayed user scrolls the view. At this time it shows pop up over the keyboard which I need to hide.
I tried setMenuVisible of UIMenuController when popup rect and keyboard rect intersects each other on viewDidScroll but it didn't help me.
Any clues will help a lot.
