Apple TV Menu missing TV Shows & Music options

Just set up my new Apple TV which I'm using in conjunction with OSX 10.6.8 / iTunes 10.5, and the menu screen only shows the Movie, Internet, Computers & Settings options, no sign of TV Shows or Music. I have Home Sharing selected in iTunes and can stream music and video from both my Mac and iPhone, but can't seem to access my library from the Apple TV menu. Why? Thanks.

Like DougMcLean, same thing happened to me. With every other version of iOS in my AppleTV 2, I had YouTube, Radio etc items in the menu. Now after updating to the latest version everything is gone except for Computers and Settings. FYI, I am in Malaysia where the AppleTV is not sold. I got mine in Oz.
I tried Settings to see if this is simply a setup issue, but there is nothing that I can see that relates to this problem.
I have not tried studiogalatea's solution. By pulling the plug, do you mean that I simply remove power?
Still I wonder what Apple is doing? Even if I am not able to buy movies in Malaysia (I guess its because of IP rights and piracy) I don't see why Apple has to cripple the device and only allow me to share my computer's content and nothing else! This is quite ridiculous. I can view anything on YouTube, Internet Radio etc on my computer anyway, since these sites do not prevent anyone in the world from viewing. So has Apple become everyone's conscience?

ever since updating my apple tv to the latest software, my on screen menu is missing all the apple shows and movie catagories plus netflix is gone from my internet menu. I have home sharing turned on and able to listen to music from my desktop also see any movies I rented from apple on my desktop mac. Any ideas what could be happening.

"This window only" option missing from Show View Options

Hi,
When trying to create a background image for a disk image for distribution, the radio button for "This window only" is missing. I read instructions on the web on how to set the background image, make the file invisible in the Terminal. It will work on the 10.6 system that created it, but will not show on another computer. (Mac OS does not matter)
I eventually had to do this on an old system with Tiger 10.4 . There when looking at View Options, the radio button is there labeled 'This window only' . I created the disk image and voila' it will keep the background image for any other computer.
So my question is - Is there a keyboard combination to set this? This option is missing in 10.5 and 10.6 . This is really frustrating.

I'm experiencing the same problem. However, I don't think it's defaulting to an arbitrary colour. Rather, it seems to be defaulting to the exact opposite colour (than whatever colour was selected) in the spectrum.
For example, if I set the background colour of a folder to red, it instead defaults to green (and vice versa). This is consistent for all opposing colours.

Recently I reset my submenues to use the Show All option rather than displaying the entire contents of the menu. How do I get that setting back.

Which sub menus do you mean?
Are that sub menus from the Firefox menu bar or orange Firefox menu button or the context menu on a web page or otherwise?
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

Cannot generate a Key. Manage Account menu doesn't show up even after following Help articles. Correct username, e-mail and password. I already have a Firefox Sync Account but cannot Add a Device. No way to Sync due to no Key.

"Music Videos" under "Music" header on my 1st gen Apple TV menu is missing.

I no longer seem to have "Music Videos" under the "Music" header on my 1st gen Apple TV menu. This occurred about a month ago now (early October). Does anyone know why? I have worked with Apple Support and I have reset my device to factory settings to no avail...
I actually used this menu option often but I might have been the only person who did since I cannot find any information on it nor does anyone seem to know it even existed:)... I am more curious to find out what has happended now than expecting a fix for it.
I have had a rough couple months with my Apple products actually...:(

Having the same issues.....I have two 1st Gen Apple TVs and neither are showing on the Remote App on any of my devices as of Dec 24th. Everything is connected to the same network, have most recent updates to Remote App, software of devices, itunes. Rebooted router, computer, apple tvs....deleted the app, reinstalled...turned off wifi and homesharing, then turned back on and the Remote App will only find my itunes library and not the Apple TVs. Any help would be appreciated.

If you are on Version 11.0.1 rather than 11 Apple put it back in
View > Show Duplicates
Option + View > Show Exact Duplicates
so if you are on 11 upgrade to 11.0.1 and you will have it

There appears to be a large increase in this type of problem at this time, it seems that that there is a problem at Apple's end, but I couldn't at all be sure.
There are no issues being reported at Apple’s System Status page, but this status may yet be updated and it may be you need to try again a little later.
This isn't affecting me here in the UK, where exactly are you.
So far I have noted users in the following locations having similar problems:

If this is a problem at Apple’s end, it rarely happens, however when it does only Apple can fix it. When this has occurred previously it has usually been resolved in a few hours or slightly more.

From things you are saying, such as "shared folder" and having both machines on, it doesn't sound to me like you truly moved the whole iTunes collection.

do not confuse moving your whole folder and library with moving just media files as in
iTunes for Mac: Moving your iTunes Media folder - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1449
Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

Apple TV (2) does not show TV shows or Music

I have a new AP TV (2) which I have just set up. However in the menus on the first screen I do not have TV shows or Music.
my iTunes account is linked as Movie's are there and work fine.
Does anyone have an idea as to why they would be missing?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
TV shows are only available in limited locations (N America), there is no music menu, you can play music from your computers itunes library via the computer menu.

IPad mini device music menu missing info

The music menu does not show playlist/genre menu which I can sync from but only says

You are asking about two very different things here:
1. Registering your device. You did this, and that is good. That is how your device is tracked for warranty, etc.
2. Associating your device. This is what you are referring to when you say " ... it hasn't shown up on my account as a managed device." "Managed devices" are iTunes related. They are not related to warranty issues.
Here is how to associate your device to your Apple ID. Once you do that, your device will appear as "Managed."

Bought two songs from iTunes store on my iPhone 4s. Tried bringing the songs from my phone to my computer iTunes through iCloud but it doesn't even show the option to choose music?

My computer has been authorised and has the newest version of iTunes. My iPhone shoes the option of choosing my computer's music but my computer doesn't even show the option of music, but shows apps, movies, tv-shows and books. When i choose the option of find music to download from my phone, it says i have downloaded all yet i haven't and the music isn't in my library.
This was my first time when i bought anything from iTunes store and it also shows in my account information that i have bought these two songs but when trying to download them from my iCloud it doesn't work. Also when i click on the songs in my iTunes store on my computer, it says i have bought them but doesn't show the option of playing them. Is the problem in my iPhone or is this something to do with the songs' copyrights?
