Apple TV New software won't update

I have the newest update available. But it sits for a while and then tells me the update was unsuccessful and to try later. I am having the same problem trying to update a Iphone 4S from a Macbook. Are there issues with the servers. I was able to update my Iphone 4 from a windows computer.

You need to contact Apple and order and purchase the next Upgrade Disk, Snow Leopard 10.6.3, install that and then update that to 10.6.8. You didn't give enough information to know if you need to then Upgrade that to Mountain Lion 10.8 in the Mac App Store by purchasing that, Or even IF your computer is capable of Upgrading to 10.8.

What concerns "can I uninstall the old version of CC ?" yes you can, I for my part would keep it for a while, if your harddisk has enough space.

Update - Help - Brand New ipod - won't update with software

IPod will not update with cd-rom it came with - this is the first - initial - brand new install of ipod
win xp with sp2 installed
used cd-rom that came with ipod - followed instructions to the tee - stated it can not update ipod - itunes does not see ipod - went to web site and downloaded 47mb file from june 05
still will not update - states ipod not supported by this software - the ipod is BRAND NEW - 30gb color photo ipod??

Hi I had the same problem with my last ipod. i tried all of the steps on the apple support site but none of them worked. I decided to send my ipod in for a repair. Anyway when a week later my ipod came back it was fixed but when i loaded up the computer the disk locked again. I followed through the instructions which said to download the newest software. So i downloaded the new software again and this still didnt work. The last thing i tried to do was to use an old version of an updater so i used (ipod updater 2004-11-15) this ran through the restore process and after completing this, the menu on the ipod loaded up. I then connected to itunes and it allowed it to communicate and transfer the songs
It worked for me i hope it works for you.

New apple id and it won't update it on the icloud

I have changed my Apple ID because I wanted to use my personal e mail address. It works with itunes, but now my icloud does not work. It only pulls up my old apple id and won't let me sign in. I backed everything up and tried to delete the account, but when it came time to turn off the Find iphone, it asked me to sign in to my old apple id. How can I update my icloud account to reflect my new apple id?

Try going back to http://appleid.apple.com and changing the ID back to the original address. If you can get this accepted, then go to the iCloud preferences/settings pane, stop 'Find My ....', and then sign out. Do the same on any other devices or computers.
Then go back to http://appleid.apple.com and change the ID to the new one. Sign in with that on all your devices.
However as the address which forms the original ID is now not working it can't be validated and it's possible that you won't be able to revert to it. In this situation only Support can help you.
To contact iCloud Support: if you currently happen to have AppleCare, either because you recently bought Apple hardware or have paid to extend the inititial period, you can contact them here:

You will need the serial number of the covered hardware.
If you are not covered by AppleCare, then - in common with other free email services - there is no free support and you may be asked to pay a fee.
If you canot get this to work for you you may be able to get help from a different Support department. Apple TV , new software issue

Just downloaded the new software , Apple TV no longer lets you resume playing or start from the beginning , programs also stop while watching and take you back to the main selection screen

I still update my software so it can't be jailbroken. Jailbroken ATV require much older software than 6.1 and an update wouldn't be tolerated. Additionally, I have a ATV 3, I didn't mention that earlier, which isn't amendable to being jailbroken.
If no one else is having a similar problem, I can withdraw my question and try to address it. Thanks.

30 GB iPod - 8 GB "Other" Used - What is Other, & new software won't D/L

This has been driving me insane.
1) When I plug in my iPod and that page comes up with the iPod info, it says that 8GB of my capacity is used due to "other". And due to that, I have no more room on my iPod, even though I don't have any videos or podcasts, and I can only put around 4500 songs.
2) I'm trying to download the new iTunes software and the new iPod software. The iTunes software won't download because it says that there's something wrong with the iPod software...and I tried to update the iPod software and I keep getting an error message that says:
"The iPod could not be updated. An unknown error occured (1417)."
Someone help. I'm desperate.

I have been wondering the same thing. So I did some testing and I found other is Album artwork and something else.
In my iTunes there is
Audio 29.21GB
Video 576.9MB
Photos 5.9MB
Other 444.4MB
Free Space 25.58MB
Photos cannot be the answer because photos have their own spot. I tried removing them anyway and the "other" size stayed the same.
When I turned off "Show album artwork on your iPod" the other category went from 444.4MB down to 106.5MB
That 106.5MB leftover is not contacts or notes because I do not have any. I also do not have any TV shows to test but I suspect those increase the Video size as movies do.
When I removed the movies the other size went down to 103.1.
When I removed podcasts it went to 67.7MB
I am guessing that "Other" is all the extra files that add meaning to the video/audio/picture files. The thumbnails for the album artwork, the enhanced part of a podcast and so on.

Software won't update on old phone

Trying to use my old iphone as an i-touch but having trouble syncing the apps that I want because they require a newer software version. Each time I try to update the software, the phone freezes up. I am concerned about putting my current sim card in the phone and then updating the software...will it erase any of my current data? Is this what I need to do to make the software update so I can download the apps?

It takes Mac OS X 10.5, a newer version of the operating system, to use iTunes 10.

I understand that you have an iPad (1st generation) and would like to update the software on it. The latest supported iOS version available to the iPad (1st generation) is iOS 5.1.1. If your iOS version is lower than that and you would like to update, I would suggest attempting the update with your computer using the instructions located Update your device using iTunes section in the attached article.

Apple poor new software , cannot use Yahoo in Apple imail

After recent Apple iOS updates in Feb2013, the yahoo mail account in Apple iMail did not function properly. This happened to all Apple devices I have -iPhone , iPad mini and iMac . It always say my password is incorrect, prompting me to re-enter password. I entered the correct password and even changed my password in my yahoo mail account Internet version, and removed yahoo from Apple iMail in all my Apple devices and then restart them, but still my yahoo mail account could not be set up properly. It says cannot get mail because the apple.imap.yahoo.com rejected my password, or says that my password is incorrect. I am not using POP for yahoo so I do not suppose it would have problems with multiple devices' use. Now I could not setup Yahoo mail in my devices, even worse. The Internet version of Yahoo mail works properly.
This did not happen before I updated the iOS (ok when I was using iOS5). My view is that recent Apple's software updates were very poorly done, as there are a lot of clashes with other Apps and functions, not just the Yahoo Mail. I hope to hear from other users and Apple on how this yahoo mail problem can be solved.

The question I have is, did you install your new third party music AFTER you updated? My third party music that was placed in iTunes after I updated loads fine in an older iPod running iOS 6 but will NOT load in iOS 8.1.2. This is with the Apple provided USB sync cable. I just sent another song to iTunes and it will not load iOS 8.1.2 but did load on iOS 6. If you are able to sync new music AFTER the update on iOS 8.1.2 then I will start over AGAIN with iTunes. I deleted a song from iTunes and it stayed on 8.1.2 but not on 6. It seems that it is a iOS 8.1.2 problem. When I purchased this device, I had to scrap iTunes altogether and start from scratch. Funny though, iOS 6 never had a problem.
I have an attitude because since I have been messing with iOS 8 it has been nothing but trouble. My "Conclusions" are also shared by another in this forum as well. I knew right away what he was referring to. So, they may not be "Incorrect" as you say. As I reiterate, fix the junk. These devices are to be used by the "Average Joe". Not just people that have a better understanding of software such as yourself.

New muse won't update site

So now I have two copies of muse on my laptop. I opened the new copy (CC 2014) and made my changes. I clicked update through FTP host. It added one new window (folder) and had no idea what to put there. Published my update modifying existing files, and it reuploaded every photo on my site. Changes were not on the website when I checked. So I redid using upload all files. Nothing (though it reuploaded all images yet again). I tried to edit in browser and it told me my sit was published through the old software and to update. I went back and clicked publish. Then upload through ftp again. No updates will go through and I can't update through browser. What am I doing wrong? Im going crazy. Im not a web guy but need my updates to publish. PLEASE HELP!!!

It sounds like you've uploaded to the wrong folder on your server. Thus the files are there, but they didn't overwrite the prior version and aren't in the correct place to be seen in your browser.
The "Folder" field is the same as the "Host Directory" field in prior versions of Muse. Every hosting provider configures their servers differently, but typical values for "Folder" would be blank, "www", "public_html", or "htdocs". Most hosting providers will have information in their documentation for what folder/directory your website files need to be placed in.

Aluminum Keyboard software won't update

Leopard notices that I need an "Aluminum Keyboard Firmware Update" 1.0
I click the box, then, install, and I get the following screens...
1) Updates were installed successfully.
2) Software Update is still Active... Quit Software Update and click continue.
Whatever I seam to do, the software does not update. Any suggestions would be VERY helpful!

I had the same problem. Actually, I did not know it had not updated properly until I ran the software update application again the next day and noticed that I still needed the Aluminum Keyboard Firmware Update. So, again, I selected install software. This time though I closed the software update installer application, as instructed. Then I pressed continue to install the update. The bar ran across my screen showing that the software was updating. It installed successfully.
After the install, I noticed immediately that I can now move my keyboard further away from my iMac. I love the smaller keyboard. It is perfect for working from my lap. I am glad Apple made a wireless keyboard without the 10-keypad for people like me who never use the 10-keypad anyway. Thanks Apple!

MB702LL Software won't update 4.2.1

I have a iPhone 3GS mode MB702LL and the software will only update to version 4.2.1. iTunes says this is the latest version... but the latest version available is 4.3.3 Is anyone experiencing a similar problem?
