Apple TV no longer automatically wakes up

Hi All,
Since last update, my AppleTV(3rd gen) no longer wakes up automatically when I broadcast something via AirPlay from my iPhone 5(iOS8.0.2). In fact, it's not visible on AirPlay if it's on sleep mode. I have to wake it up with the remote and wait a couble of seconds before beeing able to see it from my Iphone or iTune on my computer.
My AppleTV is linked to my network via ethernet cable. It seems that since the last update, when AppleTV goes into sleep mode, it shuts down the ethernet connextion. I think that because when it's on sleep mode, I notioced the ethernet port light on my router refering to the AppleTV's port is off. It turns on when I manually wake up the AppleTV with the remote.
Anyone has a solution ? Am I the only one having this kind of issue ? How can I downgrade to the old version ?

It still has its photos and play lists and it is linked up for streaming but does not sync as it used to do. Yes, the first generation model still works with iTunes 11. It sounds as though you have set it up as a streaming only library.
Navigate to Settings > Computers > Your Library on the Apple TV, you may be told you will lose all synced content, but you can sync it back afterwards, you won't lose any purchased content that has yet to be transferred. Then select Settings > Computers > Connect To iTunes, note the passcode that appears on screen, click on the device in iTunes and enter the passcode when prompted.

Apple tv does not automatically download

My 1st generation Apple TV no longer automatically downloads TV shows from the iTunes store for season passes purchased on iTunes. These need to be downloaded to the computer and synched manually. As this worked previously, I am wondering if anything has changed?

As it happens, this is true for me as well. The fact that there are some movies on my Apple TV that I cannot move to my computer prevents me from simply trying to disconnect and reconnect the Apple TV to my library.
I asked for assistance on this, and they re-initiate the download. Now i have two copies of the movie on the Apple TV and still none on the computer. The movie did appear in the "Downloads" list on iTunes, but dissapeared once the download completed. The "iTunes Extras" is present on the computer, however. Just not the movie itself.

Things to try:
Try resetting your phone (press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds until the Apple logo appears. When you see the Apple logo let go of both buttons and your iPhone will reboot.
Try a new sync cable (often the problem)
Make sure you phone is adequately charged
Make sure you are using latest version of iTunes

And if not, why are they taking so long? I care about this, and not even telling people if they will be able to turn this off is worrying.
This is not a matter of whether or not it's a "big deal" or not, it is up to the individual to decide for themselves what they will and will not tolerate. Apple's continued silence is only making matters worse. They need to say SOMETHING.

After Yosemite upgrade FaceTime no longer automatically selects display microphone

I have a Macbook Pro 2012 with Apple Thunderbolt display. I have noticed that since upgrading to Yosemite, FaceTime no longer automatically selects the correct microphone, depending on whether Thunderbolt is connected or not. I can still manually connect to the correct microphone, but under Mavericks this used to happen automatically. Anybody else having this issue?

had the same problem. set a much lower resolution and turn the overscan on, then move up the scale till you reach one which fills the screen
eg 720p on my screen isn't 1280x720, but 1360x768 NTSC overscan on!?
Not quite sure why this is the case, don't know a great deal about tv's, but give it a go.
P.S. I couldn't get a very clear image the first time i set it up, after a reboot i had more options to play with and selected the above one which is perfect.

Podcasts no longer automatically download in iTunes 11

I've been Googling this and searching the Apple forums for some time now and can't seem to find this exact issue... close but not exact. If it's there and I missed it, please kindly direct me to said thread! Thank you!
Anyway, since upgrading to iTunes 11 (now using 11.1.3) - or maybe it was the upgrade to Mavericks, I'm really not sure - my subscribed podcasts no longer automatically download. When I hit the refresh arrow next to the podcast title all the new available podcasts appear in the list, but now I have to click the little cloud with the down arrow next to each individual podcast to start the download process. Extremely annoying! Especially if I haven't been able to download for a few days and have twelve or so in the queue.
None of my settings have changed, and I have double-checked the settings which are: Subscribed is checked; Keep: All Episodes; Download: Most Recent Episodes; Sort Order: Newest on Top; Play Order: Oldest First.
It used to be when I refreshed the podcast queue all new episodes started downloading immediately and automatically. Now, as I said I have to click on the cloud/down arrow to the right of each podcast. On occasion I will notice the podcast STILL did not download to my hard drive and instead was just streaming. I'll have to click again to download.
I have plenty of hard drive space on my external hard drive, which I have been using for years with no issue until now.
Anyone have any ideas?

I was away from my home computer for 3 weeks. I have lists of podcasts with the cloud download symbol. Is there a way to get (download) all the missed podcasts onto iTunes so I can put them on an iPod for listening?

I kind of agree with Philly on this one. If you get a new email address, there is no need to establish an entirely new account to use that address. You just need to modify your account to show the new email address. This way all your purchase history and rights to purchased apps stays in place. Creating a new iTunes/Apple account each time your email address changes really doesn't make sense in my opinion. I only point this out for future searchers who end up on this thread.

That's up to you. Apps are tied to the ID so you will only be able to use apps purchased to a specific ID when logged in as that ID.

- Note that apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
- To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

My Apple TV no longer sees my MacBook Pro / Itunes Library. Apple TV tells me to turn on Home Sharing on my computer, which I have.
Also:
1. All other ATV connections are working (Netflix, movie previews, etc.)
2. I have all the latest updates for ATV and Itunes
3. Home sharing is turned on for both ATV and MacBook Pro Itunes
4. I am correctly logged in to my Itunes account on both ATV, and Itunes on the MacBook Pro
5. Everything had been working perfectly for approximately one year until yesterday.
I'm not sure what to try next.

Thanks. I just closed Itunes, came back today to check it out and the pull down menu with "Computer" or "Apple TV" was inexplicably back again and everything now works. I had tried restarting Itunes, the modem, and router before with no luck. Anyway, it's magically working.

An aside question relating to Itunes: In my movie library, to the left of the movie name, a circle sometimes appears. Some movies have no circles. Some of the circles which appear are solid blue, some are half blue/half white. What do these circles and color codes mean? thanks

A blue circle indicates you haven't yet watched it, a half blue circle that you have started to watch it but didn't finish it.

Having the same problem with one I bought with my iPad in the Regent Street Apple Store. Not sure why it wouldn't work unless the OS now needs the lightening Connector certificate to use a card now.
I am hoping there will be a fix real soon or maybe someone knows a work around?

My iPhone 4 no longer automatically launches iTunes. In iTunes, the box is checked that says "Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected." I've checked and unchecked that box, restarted the computer, etc., but nothing I've done has fixed the problem. I've seen the solutions for the same problem in Windows, but not for a Mac. How can I fix this?

I have the same problem and found the same solution (i.e. unchecking then "open iTunes when iPhone is connected", then rechecking it, re-installing iTunes Helper).
The only problem is that this keeps happening over and over, and while I can certainly manage opening iTunes manually whenever I connect my phone, it bothers me that something is not working and I cannot figure out how to fix it.
I noticed that when iTunes does not open automatically, you will see that iTunes Helper is not available in the System Preferences -> Users -> Login Items. The funny thing is that I am not even able to find it on my computer at all - until I re-install it through iTunes that is...
Does anybody have an answer for this?
