Apple tv not able to connect to net

Hello,
Please help! Am I doing something stupid? I've just bought an Apple TV and it isn't connecting to the net. It's connected to my Mac Pro via Airport successfully - in the settings it has the correct IP address. My Mac Pro is connected to the net. But it can't connect to the iTunes store (and thus won't play any iTunes movie/music content). I am also unable to run the software upgrade function - or connect to Flckr, Youtube etc.
Am I right in thinking it should access the net wirelessly via my Mac Pro? I don't have a base station or Airport Extreme or anything like that - but I shouldn't need it, should I?

I had this problem when I first got my Apple TV. I'm running 2.0 and I have an Airport Express. On my iMac, I went into Airport Admin Utility, and after selecting my network and "configure", I clicked on the "Network" tab, then selected "Distribute IP Address", then selected "Share a single IP address (using DHCP and NAT), then updated the Airport, no problems since then. As it explains on the Network settings tab, this setup determines "how your base station's Internet connection is shared with computers connected to its AirPort network"

Apple TV not able to connect to iTunes, try again later

Is anyone receiving the message their Apple TV receiver cannot connect to iTunes and to try again later? I have the latest update and own a 3rd generation unit. this only occurs trying to play movies or shows I own. My music plays fine. On a side note even when my movies do play, I mostly receibe errors trying to play movies on the first try. I usually have to exit out to main menu and try again. It usually will play on a second attempt. Anyone else have this issue? It's just frustrating when you can't always access a movie you own. I guess that's the gamble with digital copies.

The funny thing is all my other apps such as youtube and Netflix workEd perfectly fine during this time. Even after I said it was working, only a couple movies were playing. Others still couldn't connect. Had to do a second restart and a reboot on my phone. Strange

I was updating my Apple TV and now it says that I need to connect it with Itunes with a wire, but there is no wire given to connect it to my computer. What should I do?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
    1.    Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
    2.    Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
    3.    Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
    4.    Open iTunes.
    5.    Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore.
If when you choose restore you get a message that the device cannot be found, download the file below
Apple TV Software Restore 5.1.1 (2nd generation)
Apple TV Software Restore 5.1.1 (3rd generation)
Then hold down the option key while choosing restore and select the downloaded file when prompted.

No it doesn't. Sometimes it make a sound that it should when connecting but that is it. Never actually charges or syncs. And it is a brand new cord.

The iPhone does not transfer music and videos via Bluetooth. To move content from one iPhone to another, you will need iTunes or iCloud handle that. If you have purchased content from the iTunes Store, you can download them directly. The articles below will assist with getting your media to your other iPhone.

Have done both suggestions, still not working. Could it have somehting to do with my local network? I am using a wireless Internet provided by my apartment building so not sure if apple tv and my computer are not technically on the same "local network?"

some reason it took so long to get update to ios 8, twice i had to rest the device since i was getting error all the time when i was trying to update from ipad itself, later i connected my ipad to i tunes on my desktop the it started updating and it took more than a hour.after updating my new ipad to ios 8 now its working slow in app store, it says not able to connect to the server , my net is working perfect though.

IPad 2 - I am not able to connect my iPad 2 to my tv anymore using AV adapter.

What is wrong with my iPad 2? I'm not able to conect my iPad to my proyector or tv anymore using AV adaptor. Is there something wrong with my iPad?
I tried it with my wife's iPad 2 and it was the same result. I was not able to connect her iPad to my TV. Niether TV or a proyector couldn't find the device.

Sounds like the one common thing is the adapter. The cheaper, non apple branded ones tend to fail.
Try another adaptor before worrying about your ipad.

Livecache database instance is not able to connect from DBMGUI

We are facing very critical problem. Livecache database instance is not able to connect from DBMGUI .
DB instace is down currently, i checked X_server is running. when i am trying to conect using DBMGUi its going on hang status, same way if i am trying to start using LC10, its going on hang..
Could anybody please help me out if faced this problem.
Earlier it was working fine. But now It 's not able to connect through DBM tool.
Any help would of great help..

After uninstalling the binaries, and reinstalling / joining back to the farm, everything seems happy expect search.
When we try and start the Search Service back, it takes us to the Search Application section, and shows this message;
The search service is not able to connect to the machine that hosts the administration component
How can I get search to work again, or get around this error?
I am pretty inexperienced with Search

For your issue, it can be caused by the search admin timer job was disabled.
Run below PS command to know the status:
Get-SPTimerJob job-application-server-admin-service | fl
If it returns “IsDisabled: True”, ran below PS command to enable the service:
Enable-SPTimerJob job-application-server-admin-service
Then run below PS command to stop and start the timer and IIS reset:
Net Stop timer
Net start timer
iisreset
Then wait 1-2 min and try browsing to the SSA again.
