Apple tv not really connecting
I just got an apple tv, and set it up. As I entered my internet password I didnt get a five digit code, though it says on apples info that one should pop up, so I couldnt put that code into itunes. Itunes on my pc seems to only occationally recognise apple tv, and the appletv loses connection to my computer all the time. Under "Computers", 10% of the time it offers my computer and the rest it just says I have to activate Home sharing in itunes, which I have, several times.
I know something must have gone wrong, I just cant believe apple would sell this if this is how bad it is, but what??? Anyone with any ideas?
I have similar issue with dimmed spinning wheel. Wonder if its software related ...

Test it on another network--like at McDonals. If it works there, you got an issue on your home network--like a router setting.

I'm in a Hampton Inn trying to connect my apple tv to the wifi. Apple TV recognizes and says it's connected but doesn't ask for the password and is not actually connected because it can't download Itunes. How can I get the Apple TV to ask for a password. I noticed another wifi connection from someone in another room and when I clicked on that the Apple TV asked for the password, but doesn't for the hhonors wifi. Anyone know what to do?

Connection pooling is not really connection pooling? Right?
Here's what I don't understand, I'm trying to pool connections but everywhere I look I see the following code:

Why is the connection closed? Isn't it supposed to be "pooled"? I have read that connections need to be closed to be reused, then what's the point of "pooling connections"? I mean, I have closely followed MySQL server connections and appears that connections are indeed closed, apparently, what "connection pooling" does is save some connection information (which is what apparently is the only thing that is "pooled") which is used to establish connections instead of reusing them.
When I start my Java application, DataSource.getConnection() creates a connection and MySQL Administrator shows a new connection in a list of connections to MySQL. I get com.mysql.jdbc.Connection@13e6657 for that connection. After con.close() is called, that connection is removed from the list of connections and when DataSource.getConnection() is called again, I get com.mysql.jdbc.Connection34o3422 and a new connection shows up in MySQL Administrator.
So what's the point in calling this "connection pooling"? I mean, this isn't really pooling connection but rather saving some data in the memory that is used to create connections, not saving them.^ The fact that a connection is pooled is usually abstracted away from the client, such that a call to the Connection's close() method doesn't actually close the connection, but instead returns it to the pool. The example you cited above says as much. The code that @OP posted could very easily be pooled behind the scenes.

Airport seems fine, but is not REALLY connecting to internet
Hi, I am using a Belkin 54G to connect my iBook G3 to internet. I am sharing the router with others in my house. However, things stopped working for me 2 days ago while it is fine for others.
I have restarted the machine, turning on and off the airport to see if anything would work. no luck. it shows that it detects the belkin and I do have a strong signal. however, nothing works when i try to use safari, mail, ichat, software update... etc.
has there been a recent update on airport cards that i don't know about? or is there someway i can re-setup the airport on the computer to take me back to 3 days ago (when the airport was running normally...)

WiFi can get cranky without warning. You just have to adapt to the situation.
First, try resetting the router. There may be a button to do this; if not, unplug it for a minute. What many people don't realize is that the router is really a computer running server software, and all computers can get hung up and need to be rebooted. This may or may not solve your problem, but it's easy enough to do.
If your router is OK, then you need to check your MacOS X network preferences. Make sure that Airport has highest priority in your Network Port Configurations and that its box has been checked.
Please post back if these quick fixes don't work. Then you need to do some more technical stuff. Good luck. -
Ipod 4th gen not really connecting to wifi
My ipod 4th gen has always worked fine a day ago out of the blue the wifi wasnt working but then i relized it was my ipod it only works when im right next to it as soon as i walk away it disconnects i have tried everything to make it work disconnecting the router, the dsl cable, resetting the network setting,to turning off and on my ipod everything else in the house connects fine i dint know hat to do anymore and i really dont want to reset my ipod so please can i get help
If you have same problem with other networks that indicates a hardware problem. Likely a loose antenna connection

Dear apple, I am really dissapointed with you. Around January 2013, my iPhone 4s 16GB White has hardware issues, which was the Wi-Fi grey out. The wifi grey out means that I can't access the wifi on/off button, and also it has no connection. I have put up with it for months, until june 7 when I decided it has been long enough, and I got a replacement. I told the genius bar what happened, and I already did the so called "steps" that apple reccommended on the site, which was reset network settings, restore iPhone. The genius bar gave me a replacement phone, so I was expecting that the problem would be over, but it isn't. It seems that it's iOS 6.1.3 which is the case of most public complaints on apple iPhone products. Not even 3 weeks after I got the phone replaced, it is doing it again, so I suspect I'm just going to get a replacement again? Unfortunately I only have until 5th of july 2013 until my 1 year warranty is up. After that, any issue I have, I have to purchase apple care. People are expecting this problem to be fixed but I don't see it being solved any time soon. This is horrible and really low, because I have been a good customer, when I talk to the people at the genius bar, I show the utmost respect I can to them for the work they put into their job, but somewhere there is a problem where something has gone wrong. Because of that, people that only have a one year warranty (which i received because I purchased my apple iPhone at an Optus outlet, once that one year warranty is up, I have to pay for a problem that isn't even my fault? That isn't how it should work, you should be fixing this problem so people can be happy customers and leave happy. Obviously you don't all know how to do your jobs, because if you did, we wouldn't have this problem. I would like a replacement phone, ONCE AGAIN. If this problem occurs again, I will simply stop buying your products, and lose faith in your company, your's sincerely, Jack Maher.

My iphone 4s wont sync when I connect it to the pc( not apple). It is connected as it comes up on itunes but when I try to sync it with apps/ music etc it wont. I am doing something wrong or is it a mistake with the phone. I am still able to download apps and music from itunes on my phone though.
I already restored it but that didn't help.

If you sync to a different computer, all your music will be replace with the music from the new computer's iTunes. If the music were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download them again otherwise the music on iPod touch will be deleted. Do you have iTunes backup?

My older model Apple TV won't connect to iTunes and does not show up in my devices list in iTunes. I have two Apple TVs in my house and I can't imagine that this is part of the problem but I mention it just in case. My other Apple TV is brand new and it connects to iTunes just fine. I've tried most of the "fixes" and one says to Force Sync but I can't since Apple TV isn't in my device list. Another "Fix" said to Navigate the Apple TV to Settings --> Downloads --> Check for Downloads, but when I tried that there was no option for "Downloads" under the Settings Heading. I'm at a loss. Please help. Could this be an issue with too many authorized devices? We have three iPads, two iPhones, laptop, desktop, two Apple TVs, and an iPod and most of them are syncing the same music playlists and whatnot... have I run out of rope?

ok, ive had the exact same issues for weeks now, as with everyone i had done the lastest upgrade and no longer could see/sync my gen 1 appleTV.........so, i removed the upgrade and went back to the prev version, even though it was showing in my prefs under appleTV, it still wouldnt show in the side panel under devices....i gave up.
This week i was determined to get it to work! So i started from scratch, totally removed itunes and started back with version 9 and upgrade each version from there, i had no luck, ic clicked find appleTvs but it wouldnt....however i just d/l version 9.2.0.61 and BINGO!. No sooner has it opened and up popped the side panel devices list, showing my appleTV..all ready to be synced etc. I immediately panicked of course haha..and set it all up and its working perfectly.
...Only catch now is that this older version will not be compatiable with my iphone, which i do keep music on...seems we cant win. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr this will be the same for all the latest apple products.
Apple needs to allow more than one version of itunes per pc OR perhaps they could get their act together and include all of the millions of APPLETV GEN1 owners in there latest upgrading..after all, THEY made the product and THEY do sell the movies/tv shows, perhaps they could stop making all the upgrade all about the music only!......on which i might add why not incluse movies/tv shows in icloud! yet another upgrade that should be included in the APPLETV GERNERATION 1!..yes we do still exist!
at the very least, im happy ive managed to get all my movies etc onto the apple tv, where ill keep them and from now on d/l directly onto my apple tv. I usually d/l to my laptop and then send them to the appletv but while trying to get all this sorted i did a test, i d/l a movie using my appletv hoping it would somehow let itunes "find" it and getting it to show up in my device list, but it didnt work, however it did sync/send the movie to itunes.. so at least i could save a back up copy.
good luck trying, as i said this has been weeks and this is the only solution ive found so far....and going through these forums its obviouse its itunes thats the issue, NOT Our apple tvs. -

I am not allowed to sign in with my Apple ID on iTunes Connect when I am trying to publish my book in iBooks Author. I do not understand why because I have fulfilled the first steps creating an account and informed my IRS tax number...
The recommendation is always to make another ID for use with a paid books account. And while I can't swear this is at the root of your issue, you should in any case reach out to Apple for assistance on this one, I think.

Apple TV does not re-connect to wireless network after standby
When I 'turn on' my ATV after it has been in standby mode it will not re connect to my wlan. I have to do a restart of the ATV box before it will find the network again. Needless to say, this is a complete pain....anyone else suffer from this or know a fix ?

andrewI removed the file "com.apple.networkConfig.plist" from the Library\Preferences folder and restarted. Now my network is found after restarts and wake from sleep.

SO I just installed the new iOS6, and the wifi is working (posting on my iPad 2 right now). However it won't let me use safari, and every time I select my wifi network, it shows the full strength signal. But before I can do anything it loads a page in an attempt to connect to apple.com, that says "apple page not found." I can then navigate the apple website, but there is no address bar. I try using safari and it says I am not connected to a wireless network. I know this is a problem with iOS 6, so has anyone heard how to fix this? Or is anyone having this problem as well?
Reading some older threads from 2012 and 2011 it appears the problem was present even then. Part of the problem was due to people using multiple or different account id's on the various devices. In my case, I only have one ID and it is the same on all devices yet the iPhone and iPad are still throwing the same error when I try turning on iTunes Match. This is very frustrating . . . any help out there? Thanks.
