Apple TV not syncing purchases back to iTunes

My Apple TV is not syncing purchases back to iTunes. All music and TV shows I've purchased through Apple TV since the upgrade to ATV 2.0 is still not showing up in iTunes.
In iTunes, when I click on Apple TV in the left pane I see only the "Summary" and "Photos" tabs. On the main Summary window there is no button to "Sync" Apple TV. Neither are there any options for setting this up in iTunes Preferences, or in any of the on-screen settings in Apple TV itself. I can stream content just fine, I just don't see how to enable syncing back and forth. Am I missing something?
Many thanks for your input!
Tom

Any idea how to get ATV to sync with iTunes? Is there some way to enable syncing to move purchased ATV content over to iTunes? I was under the assumption that this should happen automatically with 2.0. I also recall with ATV 1.0 that I DID at one point disable syncing in favor of streaming, and perhaps this setting somehow transferred over to ATV 2.0 ?
Funny, others on this forum are trying to disable the automatic transfer of ATV content to iTunes, while I'm trying to get it to work!

  • Error -50 when trying to sync purchases back to iTunes

I'm a UK iPhone user (no relevance) and tried the iTunes store last night for the first time. I browsed, purchased and downloaded an album without a hitch. A warm feeling all over when things just 'work'. I've come to charge the phone today and it has shown an error for the first time. I can only assume it's when it's trying to copy the purchased music back to iTunes. It shows a window with 'the iTunes Library file cannot be saved. An unknown error occurred (-50)' To confirm, the purchased music does not appear on iTunes.
I powered down the phone - no difference. I repaired permissions on my Powerbook - no difference. I clicked restore in iTunes only to be told that I would have to rePURCHASE my music again! Not redownload. REPURCHASE! How is this fair?!
Has anyone any ideas? I do store my library on an external disc which was the first thing I thought of but I can read and write to it OK.

Nathan - I've plugged into a different socket using my travel cable (that came with the headset) and it is now transferring my music over!! Magic!!
I should have thought of that earlier - I did restart the Mac a few times and still the problem occurred. Ah well - all's well that ends well!!
Turned out to be my USB hub was having an issue since I'd plugged an Apple mouse into it - removed that and the original dock is working perfectly again.
    Thanks for the replies guys!

  • Iphone 4s will not sync purchased videos from itunes

Unbeknownst to me, my iPhone deleted a purchased TV show (from iTunes) from the device (I don't know how it happened).  I went to sync it on iTunes and it would not put the videos back on the device.  I have tried this several times and even wiped the iPhone and started it fresh (not from a back up) and it still won't work.  Help please!

What version of iOS is your iPhone running?
What version of iTunes is you computer running?

  • IPhone 3GS not syncing purchased music to ITunes on Windows desktop.

When I plug iPhone into USB port on desktop, iTunes goes through the regular operation with photos and syncing purchased applications. However, it does NOT sync the music I purchased on the iPhone to my desktop. iTunes is to sync manually. When I select "Transfer Purchases from iPhone" nothing happens

it does NOT sync the music I purchased on the iPhone to my desktop.
It won't, the itunes content sync is one way: computer to phone. If you manually manage music, and the computer you're connected to is authorized, you must use File>Transfer Purchases once your phone appears in the left device pane, is that what you're doing?

  • ITunes 10.6 not syncing purchased music to iPhone iOS 5.1

I upgraded iTunes to version 10.6 and my iPhone to iOS 5.1. iTunes will not sync purchased music from the iTunes store. In the past, I have been able to sync these purchases via iTunes. Now they appear greyed out on my iPhone 4S.
When I go into the App Store from my iPhone, I am able to download my purchases, but there are many and tapping on them one by one is not something I want to do EVERY time I update my iPhone to a newer OS. I would like to sync from my computer since those files are on my computer and I can play them in iTunes.

I have also tried adding my music into a different playlist and it will still not sync half of my songs.  I have also deleted the Purchased playlist and copied them back into it again... still nothing works
    This is quite silly!

  • IPhone 5 will not sync or back up to itunes

My iPhone 5 wil not sync or back up to itunes on windows 7 64bit.
I have uninstalled itunes, reinstalled, reset the phone, wiped the phone, taken to apple store (however, they did not look at my PC as they said they will only look at macs), tried all sorts of things and it just will not sync or back up.
I have the latest software for the phone and PC.
When I click back up, the button just greys out for a couple of seconds, then goes back to being clickable again. The sync button is permanently greyed out.
I'm able to back up to iCloud, however am trying to back up to my computer and trying to transfer some music etc.
    Any help is much appreciated.

This is a bad situation. Your iPhone is in a state which cannot be backed up, and the Restore will return iPhone to factory specs erasing it. You need to Restore your iPhone to get it working again. If you were experiencing problems before, maybe your iPhone is damaged. If still faulty, and you have Warranty or AppleCare take iPhone to Apple for evaluation. If no coverage and still faulty it may be time for new phone.

  • HT1212 I did not sync my iPad to iTunes on my PC. Now my iPad is disabled because I forgot my passcode when I set up iOS 7 on it. I have tried to use the support info from Apple AND the cut and paste responses from people in the community, but it does not

I did not sync my iPad to iTunes to my PC. Now my iPad is disabled because I forgot my passcode when I installed iOS 7 to it.
Before anyone cuts and pastes the info from Apple support in response to this, I have already tried those steps. iTunes simply states that it cannot do anything since the iPad is locked with a passcode. I cannot access iCloud to use that specific advice as iCloud will not let me sign in; a message keeps coming up reading that there is an error with the server. Remote Swipe? Not sure. It is three hours later, and I am no further.
What else can I do? I never had a passcode set up when I first got my iPad. I would have bypassed this with the installation of iOS 7 if I had known about this.
    Thank you in advance.

You can only play 720p video.
Download the 720p or standard def version.

  • My iphone 4 will not sync or back up and it is asking me to restore.

My iphone 4 will not sync or back up and it is asking me to restore.
I just figured out that it hasn't been backing up on the cloud like I thought either.... so it hasn't backed up anything to my computer since April and I have no idea the last time it backed up in the cloud.
Will this delete everything on my phone? How can I fix this without losing anything? I am mainly worried about my contacts.
Also - this was happending before I installed 6... I installed 6 hoping it would fix it... not so much.

  • HELP! Does anyone know a Data Recovery Expert for I-CIoud? -My calender disappeared during I-Cloud transfer of data from old I-Phone 4 to new I-Phone 5s. It was on both I-Phones then vanished. (It was evidently not syncing during back-ups on the laptop)

HELP! Does anyone know a "Data Recovery Expert" for I-Cloud & I-Phone? - My calendar disappeared during I-Cloud transfer of data from my old I-Phone 4 to my new I-Phone 5s. It was on both I-Phones then vanished. (It was evidently not syncing during back-ups on the laptop)
The Apple techs are looking. But they can't find it. Nor can they find a back up on my laptop, Evidently when I backed up my Iphone to computer the calendar wasn't syncing. Since I only use the calander on my phone - I never noticed.
The Apple store rep that sold me the I-Phone 5 on Monday, was transferring my contacts and calendar thru I-Cloud (I never used I-Cloud before that moment - and always had it turned off). He successfully transferred the contacts - which are still on my phone), but the Calendar weirdly split into 6 calendars (2 of which were linked to my G-Mail which only had a few entries) (4 were linked to my MSN / Hotmail email and contained all the major events/data). I never created calendars that were separate or liked them to 2 different emails. I just typed entries into the I-Phone calendar. However, the calendar did exist on the new I-Phone for 24 hours. Something happened during transfer. When the Apple Genius Bar tech was attempting to back up my Calendar & merge the 6 calendars, everything disappeared in his hand while he was looking at it.
I am hoping that some really good data recovery expert exists that can restore the calendar that was in both I-Phones yesterday. It is completely devastating if I can't recover it.
Any help, or referrals, is great appreciated!!!!
    Thanks!

My iPhone 5 will not sync as i need iTunes 10.7 but this will not download as i have OS 10.5.8

You need to upgrade your OS to this:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
From there you upgrade iTunes, & you'll be able to sync your phone.

The first thing that has to be done with a new iPad is to activate it via iTunes. What version of iTunes, and what spec computer, have you got ? The iPad's minimum requirements are (from http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/)  :
    Mac :
Mac computer with USB 2.0 port
Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later
    iTunes 10.2 or later recommended
    (free download from www.itunes.com/download)
    iTunes Store account
    Internet access
    PC :
    PC with USB 2.0 port
Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
    iTunes 10.2 or later recommended
    (free download from www.itunes.com/download)
    iTunes Store account
    Internet access
