Apple TV on a wireless network that requires 'Agreeing' to a policy first?

I just bought an Apple TV to use at a resort I'm staying at so I could watch my Netflix Instant on the HDTV, but the problem is that once arriving I find that I have to 'Agree' to one of those hotel pages that come up first when you try to access the network. Any ideas of how to do this with my Apple TV since it has no browser?
There is a checkbox and a connect button...

Enable Internet sharing in the Sharing section of the System Preferences on your MacBook Pro. If it's connected to the hotel network with an Ethernet cable, set the Internet sharing preferences to share from Ethernet to AirPort and connect your ATV to your MBP by wifi. If your MBP is connected to the hotel network by wifi, set the Internet sharing preferences to share from AirPort to Ethernet and connect your ATV to your MBP with an Ethernet cable.

  • Problems joining Wi-Fi networks that require viewing a redirect page in iOS 8.1.1? Check your "Auto-Login" setting.

Are you having problems joining previously used Wi-Fi networks that require you to view a login or redirect page (say to accept Terms of Use) first?  The problem could be your Auto-Login Wi-Fi network setting.
I found numerous cases where I could not access in-store Wi-Fi networks (Nordstrom was one), hotel networks or in fact networks where you had to first view a Terms and Conditions page or where you had to login via a web form.
These were all networks I had used before.
This appears to be due to the "Auto-Login" setting assuming that once you (re)join a previously known network you can just go ahead and use it without further action. When the iOS device receives an error trying to use the network, it silently drops the Wi-Fi association.
If this is happening to you, follow these steps:
    1) Go to Settings -> Wi-Fi
    2) Select the network you want to join
    3) When a check-mark appears next to the SSID, press the "i" button on the right hand side
    4) Set Auto-Join however you want, but shut off the Auto-Login switch
    5) Now attempt to use the network and you should be presented with the usual redirect page with terms you must accept or where you must login to use the Wi-Fi network in question
This cleared up the issue for me everywhere I had previously been having issues.

Just let me get one thing straight...you don't change don't do this for the PC you have your router plugged in to?
    "For Vista:
    1. Open Control Panel, Network and Internet, Network and Sharing Center, Manage Network Connections
    2. If Wireless, Right click on your Wireless Network Connection, otherwise, Right click on Local Area Connection and click Properties
    3. Highlight Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4)
    4. Click Properties
    5. Tick Use the Following IP Address and enter the IP you want to use for that PC. I would start at 192.168.0.100(D-Link) and work your way up on each additional device. The second device would be 192.168.0.101, the 3rd, 192.168.0.102 and so on. Like I said, different brands of routers use different IP's, so it could be 192.168.1.100 and so on, so you will need to know the IP address of your router first.
    6. Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0 on all pc's and devices
    7. Default Gateway is 192.168.0.1(D-Link) or whatever your router's IP is on all pc's and devices
    8. Tick Use the Following DNS Server Address and enter 192.168.0.1(D-Link) or whatever your router's IP is and click OK.
    9. You will need to do this on all Vista Pc's"

Trying to connect my new Apple TV to the wireless network. When I try to use the remote the Apple Tv doesn't respond ( doesn't go to the next screen). Could this be caused by a weak wireless signal?

It is not properly connected to the network.
Make sure location is set correctly
DNS should be on auto (settings - general - network)
    Try ethernet
Signal strength on device won't account for issues, you would need a network report from istumbler, netstumbler or similar. This will show accurate signal strength along with noise and nearby networks

  • HT1695 Ipad will not find wireless networks that it used yesterday, but MacBook Pro still finds and uses these networks.

Our ipad will not find wireless networks that it used yesterday.   Our Mac Book Pro finds them and uses them.
we have reset the cable modem and wireless router, turned off the ipad and turned it back on.   Turned wireless off and back on.
but it just spins trying to find networks but finds none.
    What do do next?

Settings for wireless network connections are actually stored in two separate places on your Mac, so in addition to the correct advice offered by Jolly Giant, you will also need to delete old network listings in KeyChain Access.
Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > KeyChain Access
Locate the name of the wireless network that you want to delete and click it to highlight it
    Click Delete on your keyboard
It would be a good idea to go ahead and also delete the current connection as well in case it has become corrupted. This will clear out the old settings and when you next connect to the network and enter the password, the new settings will be preserved.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Do you actually see a weak signal shown on the Apple TV when it is connected to your network. The problem may not be a weak signal, it may be interference from other networks or electrical devices.

  • Can I use airport express to create a local wireless network that my apple tv can connect to for AirPlay/mirroring in student halls/dorm without Internet connection

    Hi I was wondering :
Would I be able to make a local wireless network using airport express that my apple tv can connect to which in turn is connected to a projector with hdmi in so that I can mirror/AirPlay from iPhone pad and mac

will the Airport Express allow you to log onto a hotel wireless network, and broadcast a secure wireless network in your room for your wireless devices, like the Ipad, Iphone, etc.?
The bottom line with a single AirPort Express is no.
The AirPort Express can only "extend" a wireless network when the network is being provided by another Apple router.
As you might imagine, it is extremely unlikely that that the hotel network....which no doubt uses professional wireless access points provided by a manufacturer of commercial systems.....would be compatible with an AirPort Express.
In many years of travel domestically and internationally, I cannot recall a time when a single AirPort Express would "extend" the signal provided by a hotel's wireless network.
However, if you had two AirPort Express devices handy, you might be able to configure one to "join" the hotel network and provide an Ethernet signal to the second AirPort Express, which would be configured to "create" your own "private"  wireless network.

  • TS2972 Using more than one Apple TV on same wireless network

Sorry if this is answered elsewhere, but I have an Apple TV for the main home TV, and now want to add another Apple TV for elsewhere in my house.
Can I have two or more Apple TVs using home sharing on the same home wireless network? I'm assuming that I can, but don't want to buy another Apple TV and have to return it. Thanks. RB

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Yes you can have more than one, but be aware this will place more demand on your network, generally speaking this shouldn't be a problem for 2 Apple TV's on a reasonable network, but if your network is flakey or you add many more Apple TV's, it may become a problem.
We have 7 and have installed additional base stations for the network to cope with the bandwidth required.

  • Apple Devices Dropping Off Wireless Network

Hello, I have recently deployed a wireless network using a WLC 2504 with 21 Light APs. All seems fine except that

  • Won't connect to a wireless network that it sees

My iPad (iOS 6.1.3) sees my wireless network extender but won't connect to it. Just started today. Any ideas or remedies? I've tried unlearning the network and relearning. I've also done a reset, etc. nothing works. As I said, it sees the network but when it tries to connect, the little wheels just spin. BTW, it DOES see and connect to the main wireless router network fine.
    Thanks for any ideas.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Apple TV Disconnects from Wireless Network

I've got an Apple TV that apparently likes to disconnect from my wireless network and the only way to get it to reconnect is to re-setup the network on the Apple TV. This is really getting annoying because it seems that each time I want to sync it or rent a movie I have to reenter the network key. I've performed a factory reset and always download the updates whenever they're available.
I have noticed that the Apple TV is picking up a bunch of other wireless networks in the area and mine is about 4th on the list. Though my signal is much stronger that all the others. I'm using a Airport Extreme base station as my router/access point for this Apple TV.
Any ideas? or anyone else experiencing this problem?

    Hi
I was having the same problem. It is most likely as was previously posted, signal interference.
As I don't know what router configuration you are using (I use Time Capsule) I am not completely sure this will work but if you download from Apple Support Airport Radar it will tell you what signal channels in your area are in use. You can then select one that no one else is using with your Airport Utility/ Manual Setup or with whatever configuration tool your router has and the problem will go away. In my case Channel 8 was best.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't connect to wireless network that works fine for other machines

I received my MacBook Pro last week (2.16 GHz) and I've been very happy with it so far. However, when I brought it home, I've had nothing but issues trying to connect to my wireless network. It's a Netgear, and you can read more about it at the following link:
    http://www.netgear.com/products/details/WGT624.php
It works great with my Windows XP Desktop (HP Pavilion 1250n) and PowerBook G4. It works with no password, 40-bit WEP and 128-bit WEP. But not with the MacBook Pro. However, my MacBook Pro has worked at my office and StarBucks, so it works sometimes. Is there something special I have to set on my router for it to work with the MacBook Pro?

I also had problems with wireless connectivity while trying to access a netgear WGR614 albeit a v2 base station.
The problem was that I could not see the network from my MBP. It just didn't appear. The network was open with zero security. However my dell laptop was able to connect fine.
I noticed in the MBP config that the wireless locale was set to USA. I however live in Ireland. I then changed the locale inside the netgear 'wireless settings -> region' to United States. Now everything works fine. My dell didn't seem to care either way. It just picked up the new 'USA - region' based wireless network.
The problem now is that I travel quite a lot and usually I won't have the luxury of being able to change the routers configuration.
Is this just a MBP and Netgear WGR614 issue?
If this happens in the future is there a way for me to change the AirPort wireless card locale?
