Apple TV on CRT TV (component to s-video)

Hi all
newb here, so here's the story.
Apple iTunes film rentals have hit the UK, wohoo! The 160GB Apple TV is literally US$220 more in the UK. I'm off to NYC in 3 weeks so I'm going to get one there but I've we problem. My CRT Sony 32" TV (which I'm not replacing) doesn't have Component or HDMI inputs (which the Apple TV only gives ).
I've figured 3 options:
1. Buy a special converter box (found 3 so far), that takes Component and on the fly converts to S-video - all around £70/$140
2. Buy a new AV Receiver/AMP that converts video signals on the fly (cheapest decent one is £400 Yamaha DSP-AX763, Denon and Onkyo do it too)
3. Get a DVD Recorder that will accept Component and output s-video on the fly (£100+)
But all of these cost more than I want! Suddenly I remembered ye olde VHS VCRs! Does anyone know of a PAL VCR that accepts Component but will output s-video (or RGB Scart would be even better) please? Or any better suggestions.

what is a good converter box to convert and hdmi signal to a component or s video signal?

I tried the HDFury with good results, to connect a new AppleTV to an older, but still very nice, plasma display that lacks HDMI inputs. Picture quality is as nice as any other video source (running at 720p).
There is a trick to setting it up, however. AppleTV comes out of the box set to "auto" video resolution, which means that it determines what resolution to use based on the device to which it is connected. HDFury is capable of 1080p, so the Apple TV wakes up in 1080p mode, and does not sync with my 720p monitor.
The fix for this is to have the AppleTV also connected to an audio amp so that you can hear its audio output. When it starts up it will offer the option (via audio) to turn on the "voice over" feature, which causes AppleTV to read the menus out loud. You can then navigate the menus with the remote control to the video resolution settings, and force that to 720p. Shazaam, the monitor syncs up and asks you to confirm the resolution setting. Then you can use the Settings menu to turn "voice over" off.

No Mirroring in Ipad 2? I have IPAD2 and Apple Tv 4.3. I can airplay videos/music from Ipad2 to my HDTV via ATV, but I cant mirror it. When I select airplay to switch from Ipad2 to Apple TV, Mirroring does not show as an option. What am I missing?

Here are the steps for AirPlay:
Before starting Azul from your (running iOS 5.x/6.x) home screen where have have all your apps we need to turn on mirroring
On your iPhone 4S/5 or iPad 2 or 3, double-click the Home Button to view your recently-used apps.
Swipe all the way to the right to until you see the icon.
Note: If the icon does not appear, go to the "If AirPlay Mirroring is not visible or available on your mobile iOS device" section.
Tap the icon to see the list of available AirPlay devices.
Enable AirPlay Mirroring in this menu by tapping on an available Apple TV, then sliding the Mirroring slider to ON.
Now you should be seeing your iPad/iPhone on your TV.
Start up Azul now and using the settings icon on the top right corner go to the option that say "TV out" ON.
When you do that you will see an Orange screen
Now click "Done" and play the video you want to watch and it will AirPlay

Capture external component or s-video into G25

I have searched and found simular posts, but nothing specific. I wish to use an external DVD/VCR player/recorder to capture video's from this external source into my G25 using Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0
PP2 doesn't recognize either capture source regardless if I use component or s-video. Neither does any other application. Tech support stated that the Media Center was designed for this and must go through the internal TV processes, and they know of no work-arounds at this time. I wish to directly access the component or s-video source input source without using Media Center.
Does anyone know of a work-around or 3rd party software aplication that will work?
I hope I do not have to purchase a USB or hardware solution.

Im not a adobe premiere pro specialist but as tech support has suggested you can use the media center edition to record the movies from the different sources.
I think the WinDVR is very useful software which is used for recording the TV on your PC.

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

You are correct, there is no flash player on the iPhone, find an alternate browser that may be able to help your quest.
Or use the corresponding app in the App Store.

I believe Apple is all about innovation, simplicity & thinking of the box. Adobe Flash is an old technology - which over the years has not been developed or succeeded with a better offering from Adobe, leaving behind an application that is slow, buggy and a resource hog. When Apple creates technologies it thinks about future, which is the key to success. Like everyone you too should moved on. HTML 5 is the way to go.

Apple 17 inch CRT

I want to run my excellent Apple 17 inch Studio Display CRT with my new Mac Pro.
Does anyone know how to do this.
For some inexplicable reason the DVI to ADC adapter isnt compatible with the CRT and Mac Pro combination.
There may be a 3rd party adapter out there somewhere.
I'm sure I'm not the only photographer who prefers CRT displays.

It is possible that the gefen DVI to ADC conversion box, which is often used with the 205W power supply from a G4 cube MAY be able to supply enough power to run the CRT. Their specs:

... say their box consumes 60 W max (which is not enough), but I do not know if they can "pass through" enough power to run the CRT. The G4 Cube power supply, when used with a Cube, can produce and supply the 4 Amps needed. It is not at all clear what supply they sell with the product, and whether that supply can provide 4 Amps to a CRT.
A better solution would be to try to find a card with an ADC port and use it with a computer than can supply enough power.

Apple component cable - no video output

I purchased an Apple component cable thinking I would be able to display video on my HDTV, but all I can get is audio. I know the TV is working properly as I can get component video from a WII console. The phone is a 3GS with the latest software (4.01). I get no video with the IPOD app or the photo app. I have the TV settings configured for widescreen and NTSC in the IPOD setup section.
What am I missing?

Try booting your Mac while holding down the shift key, which will boot it in safe mode. If this works, then you probably need to flush out some corrupt data in the PRAM.

PRAM stores, among other things, video device settings. I've seen cases where the PRAM became corrupted and caused video display problems.
Otherwise, if you have spare hardware or a nearby friend (with a computer) who could help you, some logical troubleshooting will help isolate the issue:
#1 Try connecting this problematic monitor to another computer system. If nothing displays, the monitor is supect and should be replaced.
#2 Connect a known working monitor to your Mac. If you get picture then it further confirms the original monitor is damaged, and also ensures your Mac is functioning normally with video output.

Is there a way to mirror your monitor to your tv using the apple composite cable instead to just stream your video in specific situations?

I know that there is a way to do it in jailbreak ipads or iphones (using a app, but don't want to do it).

Component to Composite Video for Ipod touch

I have a 8gb ipod touch and i have the composite cables for my old ipod so i can watch videos on my tv. I've read that the touch needs the new composite cables and i don't have a hdtv to support that. Is there any converter i can buy to make this work or will i need to invest in a hdtv.

I'm pretty sure composite cable will work with composite cables. There are two cables that apple does sell anyway
