Apple TV only sync's checked songs

I've got both an apple TV and an ipod touch. On the ipod touch I had selected to only sync checked songs (as the library is bigger than the device), but on the apple TV I have selected sync "all songs and playlists" - however it still only syncs the checked songs.
Is there something I'm missing? Or is it a bug?
help appreciated.

I have the same situation (library much larger than iPods). I've found that the way that works well for me is to use Sync Selected Playlists (music pane). This means I can keep most things checked (I still uncheck holiday music the rest of the year). You could do something simple like create a smart playlist that is 7 gigs (assuming 8 gig Touch)and Not played in the last XX days. Or, you could get more complicated.
I have a series of Smart playlists and then I'll have a couple of album playlists for things I recently purchased that I want to review. I used to use just Sync checked only and it got to be a nightmare.
Best of luck.

  • Itunes only syncs a few songs with Apple TV and then stalls

Everything worked fine until a few days ago. Now when I try to sync, Itunes syncs about 7 songs and then stops. I have reset Apple Tv, Airport, Router, Etc.
    Please help me

Ideally, I'd like to sync to my gmail account. It syncs a few contacts without a problem, but that's about 15 out of around 200. I'm not sure why it won't sync the rest properly

  • How can I just sync the checked songs from my iTunes to my iPod?

Okay, I cannot figure out how to sync my iPod (5th gen touch) with only the checked items.
I noticed on the summary page it says, "sync only checked songs and videos" well I have that box checked.
I have all my music checked that I want on my Ipod as well. So what am I doing wrong?

Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?

If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?

  • How do I sync just checked songs & playlists, not everything in iCloud?

I used to be able to sync selected songs, especially playlists, to my iPhone 5.  Currently, the window for syncing music in iTunes when I connect my iPhone tells me that I can access music from iCloud and therefore seems to have copied all my playlists to my iPhone.  However, my iPhone lacks the capacity to store all my music, so most playlists are effectively empty.  I'd prefer to choose manually which playlists are copied to my phone, particularly because when my phone is connected to the audio system in my car, it's distracting to have to scroll through a very long list of playlists to find what I'm looking for.  Is it possible to "turn off" the iCloud feature so that I can select which music to have on my iPhone?

You set that in iTunes on the Summary tab of your iTunes sync setting (check Sync only checked songs and videos, then check the songs in your library that you want on your phone, check Sync Music on the Music tab of your iTunes sync settings and sync).

  • My computer broke and I bought a new one, installed i tunes and synced my I phone but it only synced my purchased songs(100) and I still have 400 songs on my I Phone, when I try to re sync it wants to erase all the 400 songs on my device

My Computer broke and I bought a new one, re installed I tunes and synced my I Phone 4 but it only transfered 100 purchased songs into the library and I still have 400 songs on my I Phone, but when i try to re sync it wants to erase the 400 songs on my device and replace with the 100 songs in my library. I have authorized this computer with this device but I can't deauthorize the old computer because it's boken. I emailed tech support but they told me to manually transfer the files but it only transfers from the library to the device, and I need to transfer from the device to the library.

The music sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases. Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases
The iphone is not a backup device.
Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

  • When i go to sync my new songs itll only sync my old songs

It wont let me sync my new songs onto my Nano , it'll only sync the songs I all ready have. Or it won't show any songs .

How is your iPod configured to sync music from your iTunes library?  Automatically or manually? In other words, what options and settings do you have configured/enabled, from under your iPod's Summary and Music tabs.
You can access these panes by plugging your iPod in and clicking on it when it appears under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes.  This will bring you to the Summary tab.  Right alongside that should be the music tab.

  • Will only sync a few songs and then says unable to sync

I have a very old ipod - no color, click wheel 20GB. Everytime I try to sync it gives me one of these 2 responses:
Attempting to copy to the disk "Kimberly's iPod" failed. The disk could not be read from or written to.
The iPod "Kimberly's iPod" cannot be synced. The required disk cannot be found.
Generally it is followed by another message saying that _______ song cannot sync.
I have tried resetting it to the factory and starting all over again but it still will not work. Any suggestions out there?

    Hi,
In my long experience this is an issue that Apple has never fixed since first introducing iTunes Match.  I have had lots of music that has the same play issues as you describe in your initial post, but I've never seen them fixed.
I did identify a strategy that gets around the problem (sort of, because it is not always 100% successful).
I noticed the issues never appeared to affect songs I purchased in iTunes, only songs I'd ripped from CD, especially songs I ripped from CD years ago, when I ripped a lot of songs in mp3 format at 96kbps. It didn't affect all 96kbps mp3s, just some of them.  I used rippers like Music Match Jukebox, etc.  It was only later that I started use iTunes for ripping.  I'm guessing there is an incomptibility between other mp3 rippers and iTunes, but that is just an educated guess.
    My strategy:
I re-ripped (using iTunes) all my low butrate mp3s to Apple's AAC Encoder, with it set to Apple's iTunes Plus recording standard.  This is the same as you get when you buy songs from iTunes.  That was part 1.
Part 2 was to remove the old mp3 versions from iTunes and iTunes Match, and then have iTunes Match work its magic to put the AAC (m4a) versions in iCloud.
As I said, this strategy has largely worked, except I have noticed at least one song I'd re-recorded to AAC version that went silent half way through after I downloaded it to my iPhone from iCloud.
I do wish Apple would just 'fess up about how to get the best out of iTunes Match, or, just fix it so it works properly.
I live in hope, but ain't going to hold my breath anymore.
    Good Luck

  • Just got iphone 5-only syncs a few songs from itunes library. some songs on ipad. would like them all on new iphone

Please help!  I have a new iPhone. Have some songs from iTunes library on iPad and only a few transferred to new phone when synced. Tried deleting songs from iPad and they went to iCloud.  So now I have songs in iCloud on iPad and some songs on iPhone. Help! I want ALL iTunes library on new phone.

I hope I'm not too confusing--to clarify: I have iTunes library on the computer. When I got the iPad, most of them transferred to that. I read somewhere on here how to delete those songs and they are now 500+ songs in iCloud...I think. Tried putting the iTunes library onto new iPhone 5s a few days ago and only 149 out of 1100 songs transferred. HOw can I get my whole library from the computer to my new phone?  I don't need them on my iPad.

  • Itunes isn't letting me manually add files or sync any checked songs

I'm checking 'manually manage music and videos'.  Then I go to music and try to click 'sun music' but this pop up appears:
Are you sure you want to remove existing music, movies.... and tones form this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library'.  I click 'Remove and sync'.
'Sync music' is check and 'selected playlists....geners' is too.
Some 'artists' are checked and I click 'apply.  Then the added music GB is added to the coloured bar at the bottom - I click sync and it runs through the sync 'steps' at the top. But then the GB of files in the coloured bar at the bottom goes back to how it was and the 'manually manage music and videos' is now un-checked.
Help!   Along with this and a Back up which chose to leave off about 3.8GB I'm a bit pee'd off!

Oh, I just found manually dragging and dropping songs from my iTunes library works for my iPod... I guess I'll be using that.

  • Ipod will only sync a few songs, takes way too long, music not on ipod.

(first off I have a 6gb mini. I use a usb 2.0 and Im seeing if I fare bettter with the older software. so far no luck.)
I've strugglig with this damned thing all night, first I had the "folder !" then I had the "blinking apple", now I have that all worked out its time to put music back on right?(Ive updated and restored god knows how many times) WRONG! Like a kick to the kidneys, the ipod updates something like 8 or 9 songs then tells me the update is finished. after wasting my sweet time, like 20 minutes for 8-9 songs, those dont even stay on the ipod. what the hells wrong?

Make sure you don't have the Manually manage music and videos box check on the Summary tab

  • Itunes only syncs a few songs at a time

I just updated to the latest version of itunes on my windows xp machine. It used to update my ipod without any problems, but I haven't synced in several months. Now, when I plug my ipod in and open itunes, it starts syncing but then stops at some arbitrary number of songs (fewer than 100). This is a big problem since I have thousands of songs to sync onto my ipod (I reset it, so it's empty).
What's going on? I went through the preferences with a fine tooth comb and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.
    Thanks.

Ideally, I'd like to sync to my gmail account. It syncs a few contacts without a problem, but that's about 15 out of around 200. I'm not sure why it won't sync the rest properly

  • Checking songs in iTunes

I have just got a new iphone and have too much music to fit all of it on. So I have unchecked a lot of my music leaving only the songs I want to be synced on my iphone checked. This works fine and itunes only syncs the checked songs, however itunes will now not play the unchecked songs if I have it on shuffle or normal play.
How do I get itunes to play all my music on my computer while only syncing the checked ones?
    Cheers in advance.

Leave everything checked then create playlists or smart playlists and set up the iPhone to only sync specific playlists instead of your whole library. You can change playlists as needed without screwing up how iTunes plays everything.
Smart Playlists are fun because you can set them up to create and ever changing rotation of music on your iPhone which will update after each sync.
