• 576p 50Hz (PAL format)
• 480p 60Hz
The TV i was think of buying is http://www.shop.philips.co.uk/katalog/ctl3590/cp36390/si2465877/cl/
The Spec is Pixel Plus HD, 1366 x 768p, is this compatible? Sorry if its a stupid question!

• 720p 60/50Hz == 1366×768

    Hello, anabelleho.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here is a troubleshooting article that I would recommend going through when experiencing this issue.

  • Apple Studion Display LCD 15" dying?

My Apple Studio Display (LCD 15", purchased 2000) visual display is intermittently shutting off. Audio remains functional, and I can still type while the display is absent and when it comes back what I typed (ie, on a word doc) is there. The screen saver does not come on during the loss of visual display - the screen just goes black. When I move the mouse around or hit the keyboard repeatedly, the visual will come back. There are not problems with the display when it is visualized. Here's what i've tried so far:
    1. All connections are secure on the ADC cable.
    2. Tried restarting computer several times - no avail
    3. Checked the display settings in system prefs - energy saver is @ 15min.
I'm wondering if the problem is the monitor or something with the computer. I read somewhere in discussions that PRAM batteries can be a problem (mine has never been changed and I don't know how to reset).
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I really hope to continue to use my monitor!!

In order to do this you need to use an adapter to go from DVI to ADC. This can be found here http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=187 2D402&nplm=M8661LL/B
Good luck hope that works out!

  • Has anyone been able to get a repair/proper fix from Apple for their LCD?

The more I use my Macbook Pro while traveling the more i notice the 'sparkly/grainy' display. Compared to the White/Black Macbook it is obviously noticable what i'm talking about - especially on white backgrounds. My question is - has anyone been able to get a proper repair/fix for this common problem for the Core 2 Duo 15" Macbook Pro's?
I normally have my Macbook Pro connected to an external display but when i do take it along when I travel it stands out more and more every time.
Is Apple going to issue a 'recall/repair' for their customers who bought their Macbook Pro's? What am I to do here, When i need to use my laptop when I travel I can't take the annoyance of using this LCD screen.

Yes, I can CLEARLY see it, it's like wearing glasses that are filthy. The laptop is one week old and I could see it from after the 802.11n upgrade. This is not all that zoomed, really. To me it looks like a video memory problem, not a LCD problem. The problem is the same if I connect an external DELL monitor. Also very visible there. Also very visible if I change resolutions or number of colours. The main reason I believe it's a video memory thing is that when I move a window, it changes from white to, well... yellow and red. Check out: http://niklas.saers.com/MBP/MG8665.jpg That is why I am unsure if this is the kind of grain you are talking about. Can you confirm that this is the kind of problem you guys are seeing?
    PS, I use a Canon 20D with a 100mm f/2.8 macro lens.

  • Can be possibile that a Philips LCD screen doesn't work correctly with Mac?

    I've buy a LCD Screen 17" Philips SXGA 170S7FB/00.
The first time i've connect it on my Mac Mini and it worked, but the second time when i try to startup the Mac,on the screen appair only a white page with in the middle a folder signed with a flashing question mark.
Can be possibile that the monitor make creates problems or conflit with Operative System?

If a display isn't compatible with the system, generally what you would see is that the display would go blank or distorted, but the system still work. It is not likely that the monitor has caused this problem, and the fact you can see a white screen with the flashing question mark shows that the screen and mini are able to talk to each other.
The flashing question mark indicates that the mini cannot find a copy of MacOS to boot from. I see you've asked about this issue in the 'Using the Mac mini' area, which is where I think you'll be most likely to get some assistance trying to get your system running again.

  • Watch Tv with apple 20 inch LCD monitor

I have a 20 inch apple LCD monitor, I dont want to use it for my computer, instead I would want to use it to watch tv. How shd I do it or what shd I buy?

That is one very expensive 20" TV, frankly you should sell it on and buy a 20" LCD TV instead.
You could have a look at Elgato's TV Tuners for Macs you can then display and record HD TV on your Mac and are pretty good value.

  • Apple 17" M7649 LCD Monitor &  iMac G5 iSight to Mirror

    Hi Gang,
    Need to pick your brains.
I have a studio that I need to run a second monitor off my iMac G5 iSight 2.1Ghz. I know I can only run it as a mirror.
I have picked up an apple 17" M7649 HD LCD Display from ebay for $20 ... How do I connect it to My iMac? I may need an extension cable too does that exist?
    Thanks,
    Antny

I have the previous model iMac that you have. I have not encountered the problem that you are describing, but I have a few suggestions. If you haven't already, try the Apple Hardware Test. Insert disc 1 of the Mac OS X discs that came with your computer. Double click on the disc icon, and read the instructions on how to conduct the test. If the test proves to show nothing wrong. Try rebooting your computer, and looking in the console for any error messages. You can find the "Console" application in the utilities folder under "Applications"
    Hope this helps!

  • Apple TV 2nd + LCD monitor (DVI-D socket)

    hi,
is it possible to connect Apple TV 2 to LCD screen and have  clear and nice picture on it?
I have got all needed cables, Apple TV and monitor are connected and... please have a look what is going on:
In fact I can see just only a few letters of each word in a menu. I appreciate every help. TIA

I would connect it to a tv with hdmi and go into settings and change the resolution to something I was sure that the monitor supported and try again
but in general hdmi to dvi is a hit and miss when it comes to working and most DVI monitors don't support hdcp which mean you cant buy or rent anything from itunes and think netflix and the sports thingy availble in usa

  • Philips LCD HDTV without RF Input???

Hi - I am curious about this Philips model television:
    Philips - 55" Class / 1080p / 240Hz / LCD HDTV
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Philips+-+55%22+Class+/+1080p+/+240Hz+/+LCD+HDTV/1390518.p?skuId=1390518...
But noticed it doesn't have an RF Antenna input!  Does this mean it doesn't have a built in digital tuner?  I thought all new HDTV's had built in tuners to pick up free stations.  If I don't have cable and get this TV, will I have to buy a digital tuner too?  That seems really silly, so I hope I am missing something.
    Any information would be great.
    Thanks!
    Tom

According to the owners manual, there is indeed an RF connector:
    http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/5/55pfl5505d_f7/55pfl5505d_f7_dfu_aen.pdf
Another tip-off was the V-Chip in the specifications.  A V-chip indicates it has a built in tuner.

  • Will Apple replace my LCD Screen?

The 13" ALuminum macbook i bought in February shows "negative photo" effects if the lcd isn't tilted just right, especially when i watch movies/shows on the screen. Can apple replace this screen with one of the same screens in the 13" macbook pros?

You can speak to Apple but that type of effect ("negative photo" with change in viewing angle) is typical of nearly all of the 1st generation Aluminum MacBooks that were produced prior to about April of this year. Thus, it really isn't considered to be a defect for that generation of MacBook.

  • Apple Applications on LCD screen

I am developing an Apple Accessory that displays the video screen of gaming type applications(motion sensor games) of iPods/iPhones/iPads on the LCD screen.
Is it possible that while a Gaming application is running on iPhone 4, a compitable accessory displays parallely video output from iPhone 4 on a separate display ?

I'm not sure that this is what you are asking but if you are referring to the need to enter the lock screen passcode instead of using Touch ID the first time every time after you power the phone off and back on, that is normal and how it was designed to work. As to the why, I would be guessing.

  • Touch Screen Technology into Apple 30" CINEMA LCD

I am looking for companies that can integrate touch screen technology into 30" Apple LCD. Please let me know any reference concerning that.
    Thanks in advance,
    Rogerio Pinto
    Apple 30" CinemaDisplay

I have not done a hardware test, how do you do this?
And no I did not re-install the the OS X - I re-installed the software that came with the cinema display thinking the "drivers" were bad. Because hooking up an alternative monitor works fine.
By re-installing the OS or "System" do I lose all software programs and files? It would be a pain in the padded butt if I had to re-install everything!
Are there any diagnostics I can run?

  • Connection MACBOOK PRO to Philips LCD: NO VIDEO SIGNAL

    Hello all,
I recently both a Philips LED TV, type: 40PFL8605H/12.
    I have a MACBOOK PRO from 2007.
I would like to use this MACBOOK PRO as a media server on the TV.
I have connected the MACBOOKPRO via DVI-VGA connector to the VGA input of the Philips TV.
Result; I get 'no video signal'-message on the TV screen. I recently connected the MACBOOK to a beamer and it worked perfectly.
Although, the TV say's 'no video signal' the display system preferences does recognizes the TV. It say's PHILIPS FTV and a different number of resolutions.
I have tried them all, the result stays the same.
I'll tried the Philips helpdesk and the answer was that everything seamed to be connected ok...so, no use full help there (yet)
'Google-ing' around did not give an answer either.
Anybody here with use full tips?

    Thanks a brody,
I'll get me one of those cables and give it a try...
are you sure it should work then? i see a lot of discussions and people with the same problems...
I was first thinking to buy a new mac mini to use it as my 'home-server' and as multi media player.
However, my 'old' macbookpro is also getting 'ware-out' and is subjet for replacement for profesional purposes...
If I could use my good old macbookpro as media/server, it would save me a couple of euro's...
Can you (or somebody else) advice me... my old macbook as media server and a new one as profesional lap-top or upgrade my old macbook (new harddisk extra memory) and mac mini as home server and media player...
of course, first criteria is to get my old macbook hooked-up to my TV ...
    thanks for the advice...
    cheers

Will this type of display work with the G4 Powerbook or and iBook with a VGA adapter or does it require a Power Mac?

  • Philips LCD TV with Ethernet does it work with TC

Philips have on some of their top models an Ethernet point in the back of the TV for connection to the network but has anyone got it set up with an airport unit? and if so can you please tell me how to make it work.
    thank you in advance

I don't have this TV, but I imagine it should be easy. Just go into the TV's network setup screen, and make sure the Ethernet is set to DHCP mode. And then get a CAT5 cable and connect from the TV to the LAN port on the TC.
