Apple TV playing up

My Apple TV has started to mess up starting today, it's lost all of the channels apart from the settings and the computers channels, I HAVE TRIED the plug into iTunes method and it didn't work, I then unplugged it from the way and the Television and then plugged it back in after 20 minutes, it let me sign into iTunes and iCloud and then got all of it's channels back, but after watching some videos on YouTube the search feature stopped working, then the whole app collapsed so I put it to sleep but when I woke it back up again all of the channels had disappeared AGAIN.
I have used the restore function on the Apple TV, and the reset feature.
I have tried the iTunes restore method.
My time zone is: London (Where I live)
My Regional Format is: United Kingdom, where it should be.
I have disconnected from the network and connected again.
I CANNOT: Restart the router it is connected to or join any other internet access points as I live in shared accommodation and there is no access to the router, or any other access points.
I do not know what else I can do apart from take it into an iStore, but this is really starting to annoy me as I expect the product to work flawlessly as it has been doing before. Please help me get this back online as it is very annoying to say the least and I would like it if the products I have spent so much money on would work as intended.

You might try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Also try restarting the router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
If the problem persists, try a restore, you may want to try the previous procedures several times before doing this.
If restoring from the Apple TV doesn't help, try restoring from iTunes using a USB cable.
In addition to trying the above, it may also be that your network router is not allowing access to the timeserver, check that your router allows access over port 123.

Apple TV Playing my music "slow"

Hey there smart community. OK, my subject pretty much says it all but I'll explain anyway....
At first, my Apple TV played my music perfectly with no problems (running through my Mac Pro - direct ethernet). I switched it over to my iMac on a wireless network and my audio is playing... but very slow and down a few tones... like holding your finger on a vinyl record.
Is this caused by my wireless not being powerful enough? I switched to the Time Capsule Airport connection and it's still the same.
I'd like some insight to a particular setting I may have screwed up, or , well, anything

Bizarre.
Wireless issues would lead to stuttering/choppy music not slow playback, and if it worked over ethernet it should over wireless too.
Assume you've unplugged the AppleTV and restarted it.
The only thing I can think of that could cause this is if you've encoded audio with somewhat unusual parameters which AppleTv isn't expecting eg high sampling frequency which gets played back at a lower one making the audio slower. Can't see why this would have worked over ethernet though so seems unlikely.
Is all audio affected or just some?
If problem persists I woud have to guess that it's software corruption and a 'factory restore' might be needed though it will wipe all content and settings on the unit.

I can not get apple air play to work. I have down loaded three diffrent apps looking for a solution none of them were the right one. I spent over $10 in these apps. Can I get a refund. Do I need apple tv to run air play?

Thanks to the $15 Beamer, AirPlay streaming is still possible on Macs that do not support Airplay and mirroring.
Other solutions are the Air Parrot, StreamToMe, and AirServer.

In the lower RH corner of iTunes is the Airplay device selctor.
Click on it, select multiple speakers and check the computer and Apple TV from the list.

A DVD converted into iTunes and run at maximum bitrate on the AppleTV will look pretty much the same as it being played in your DVD player. No increase in resolution. The AppleTV will not upscale the image like a high-end receiver or specific DVD player would.

Apple TV plays music from iPhone for about 30 seconds. Then Air Play switches from Apple TV to iPhone mode. This worked well previously without this type of problem.

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).

Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)

Make sure all of your songs have a checkmark next to the song title. There are small blue boxes that need to be checked for songs to play consecutively.
If the library is unchecked, you can easily recheck things by clicking on a song, going to the top line selecting Edit>Select All, then right clicking on the selection and choosing "Check Selection".

Don't have the movie but I was surprised when you go to play from the cloud you go directly to Extras menu - nice to have but many people just want to play the main movie and have no interest in extras, and an extra step to play the movie.
In this case it sounds like a bug with the extras menu for Planes.

Possibility of Apple TV playing one Itunes Library while the computer plays a different library at the same time (Mac)

The Apple TV is for my son's room to watch his videos, listen to music, etc. off his iTunes library I made for him on my Mac. I want to be able to listen to my own library at the same time he has his. Apple TV only recognizes the current library open; unless I'm doing something wrong or the stars haven't aligned for me yet, is there a way to do this? I can't run two iTunes at the same time (wish I could).
*Note- to teach my son about computers, I bought an old green iMac which will be for his learning venture. The iMac however does not have wifi (at least not yet). Perhaps something for you Mac professionals can use to help me whip up a good setup, unfortunately the iMac is slow, not enough HD space, so I don't have the funds right now to open it up and do what can be done. (If this helps)

Same issue here. Just upgraded (?) from the previous version of Apple TV, to the new Apple TV2. Like others here, my main problems seem to be with unreliable streaming from iTunes 10 on my PowerMac (Quad G5, Leopard OSX).
My original AppleTV had no issues w/the wireless network, or synching w/my PowerMac.
The network connection from the ATV2 are fine, and have no issues accessing the Apple Store (for movies, TV shows), or accessing Netflix. The access to the internet from my ATV2 is quite robust.
My problems are with keeping a constant, reliable wireless connection to my PowerMac, via an Airport Extreme wireless router.
I have tried multiple restarts, reboots, reset ATV2 to original settings, tried different wireless channels on the Airport Extreme, verified I have Home Sharing properly enabled in iTunes,etc, but no luck so far.
What I'm seeing is when I access my iTunes on my computer, I can see my library, and then if I start to "shuffle songs" I may get 1 to 3 songs to play fine, but then the music stops, and I can no longer access the music/movies/etc in iTunes any longer. When I then go to my PowerMac, it has lost most bars of signal strength on the wireless network (although all other devices show strong signal strength), and I have to Turn AirPort Off, then Turn AirPort On and I then am reconnected to the wireless network with good signal.
I then go back to the ATV2, connect to my iTunes, start my music, and then 1-2 songs later it again stops playing, and I go through this all over again.
It seems as though there is something on the wireless network between the ATV2 and my PowerMac that causes it to lose connection, and I have to manually start again. The problem is that the connection is not robust, and only lasts a few minutes.
Hope this gets solved soon.
