Apple TV - refresh list of photo albums to display

Hi,
I'm sharing my Aperture photo library through iTunes so we can have big screen slideshows. I have noticed that when I create a new album in Aperture it seems to take a fairly long time before the new album shows up in Apple TV as a viewable option for a slideshow.
Is there a way to speed up the resync so the new album is picked up and viewable sooner?
Also, does anyone know if there's a way to pick up the settings from an Aperture album (meaning - I only want to display the 4 star photos and above from an album vs. all the rest of the shots?)?
Thanks in advance,
Adam

Below is the sequence for updating Apple TV with a photo collection on a home-shared iMac, which works for me. As you can see, it's a bit convoluted, but based on what I've read this is the most efficient way to have images immediately update for your custom screensaver.
For my setup, I store my images on a remote drive connected to my iMac. Whenever I make a change to add images, the quickest way I know of for getting them to show up on my Apple TV screensaver is as follows:
Add new images to your designated photos folder
Rename the designated folder (change it in any way)
In iTunes select "File->Home Sharing->Choose Photos to Share with Apple TV"
Select "Share Photos from:"
Retarget to the new (or newly named) folder you created
Close; then reopen iTunes
Go to Apple TV and select "Settings->Screensaver->Photos"
Under "Computers" your library should appear (note: this may take a couple minutes); select it and the circle-timer wheel should run
As you can see, there are several steps, but I'm unaware of a faster route to reliably get the photos to update.
Hope this helps!

  • Photo Albums Not Displaying On TP

Hey everyone, spent a few days looking for an answer without any luck, so I apologize if this has been discussed before. I recently loaded about 100 photo albums to my TP using USB file transfer. All images are saved as .jpeg. Half of the photo albums loaded normally, but the other half turn sideways with a vertical white line and another white line at a slight angle crossing it instead of displaying one of the images in from the folder. When I enter the folder, the images are replaced with small icons that flash but don't load, and the loading cycle spins but never refreshes the images. The number of images in the folder keeps changing as well. When I reconnect to my computer, the images are intact in their respective folders, and can be read as normal through USB.
I have tried deleting and re-transferring. I have also tried creating a new folder on the TP and transferring the images into the new folder. I tried renaming the files to .jpg and .jpeg. None of the techniques I have seen online have helped.
    Any help??
I am running the most recent update of webOS, and I have not installed any cracks or foreign software. I am attempting to index the albums using the webOS photo app.
    Thanks!

Found this information, but I am not sure if the fix will apply to my system? I am not certain if Internalz or Luna are factory installs or downloadable apps?

Okay, fixed it. Took longer to try various thing and the fix is failry easy.
    1)  Launcher to Settings, open Device Info.
    2) Tap the More Info button, then the Software up top of the next screen.
    3) Scroll down and tap Photos & Videos v3.0.2
    4) A pop=up should appear, and seemed mine took a while to show the Done button.
Also went to Internalz Pro, Preferences, scrolled down to Image Viewer and finally turned the Register as file handler to the off position.
Unsure if the second part was needed or not. When I closed Internalz Pro and opened Photos and Video everything was back to normalagain.
Final Step is to restart Luna, and then the TouchPad. Otherwise you'll end up with several horizontal panes meshed together on the preview - making viewing quite annoying!

  • Photo albums not displayed when viewing my website

I have a website for my band www.lastarrow.combut the photos page isn't displaying properly.
    It should look like this:
    http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i27/eastwoodandy/Picture5.png
But it is displaying like this:
    http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i27/eastwoodandy/Picture7.png
The page was fine a couple of weeks ago, the only recent change is that I've had to remove the domain name from mobileme (because I now have two websites & domain names) and just have www.lastarrow.com redirect to http://web.me.com/andywoodhouse/Last_Arrow/Home.html
The direct link to the photos page is http://web.me.com/andywoodhouse/Last_Arrow/Photos/Photos.html
Can anyone offer any help on this?
I tried changing some of the attributes of the photos page (changing the photo album borders) and republished but they are still not displaying.
I have also done a test by publishing to folder and opening it in a browser and it works perfectly fine.

    Andy:
Try using the File->*Publish All to MobileMe* menu option to republish your site. See if that will work. I see you're at the latest iWeb version, 2.0.4, so that's not a factor.

  • Photo album - image display order

I just figured out how to get a (massive) photo album onto my 3GS (iOS4) but the order the images are displayed in appears to be random. Is there a way to have the photos displayed in chronological order?
    Thanks.
(and now I have just noticed that there is no longer any content in the iPod app, where just before the sync, there was about 10GB. When I hook the phone back up to iTunes, the summary page shows the audio and video correctly, but there is nothing accessible on the phone.)

It seems that iOS devices (or is it just my iPhone 4?) order the photos by file name in stead of not by date. The solution is to rename the photos in Aperture (or iPhoto) based on the date and time taken. In Aperture you can batch change your photos and select version name format: Image Date/Time. It worked! All photos are in order.
Not sure if similar batch renaming is possible in iPhoto, though. Personally, I think the photo order on iOS devices should be based on date and time.

  • Price List for Photo Album

Where can I fond a price list for the iPhoto "Books" that can be ordered and printed from Apple?

Click on the Theme button in a book and in the theme selection window that comes up will be another button to take you to the Apple site for book options and prices.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Apple TV 2 - Problems WIth Photo Albums

    Hi there,
I use Aperture to store all my libraries and have come across an issue with the new Apple TV.
I have my photos organized into Folders and within those folders I have the photos further organized into various projects. When I view my photo library on the Apple TV, it displays both the "Folder" as well as the "Projects" in it. Since the Apple TV is doing this, the same photos are displayed twice (in the folder and the project).
Front Row, however, does not do this, it will simply show the Projects only (which is what I'd like the Apple TV to do).
Has anyone else run into this?

Yes, it appears the ATV2 only shows root level folders and everything under those are lumped into one big subfolder each.
I have no idea why they would do this. Obviously if you have your pictures in folders, you did it for a reason...

  • IWeb '08 Photo Albums not Displaying on any Browser Platform

    Hello,
I have just published some albums to a page on my website:
    http://www.hattrickphotography.com/HPC/weddingportfolio/weddingportfolio.html
... but they do not show up on any browser platform. For example, in IE7, it says that the page has loaded but in the status bar it says "Error on page."
If I drill into the error and view the details it says:
    Line: 765
    Char: 1
    Error: Access is denied
    Code: 0
    URL: http://www.hattrickphotography.com/HPC/weddingportfolio/streamloader.html?scriptURL=Pages/Lindsay_and_Ben_files/Lindsay_andBen.js&id=gridEntry0
I did not set security on my website and have never been prompted with any authentication dialog. I am using iWeb '08 and publishing to MobileMe.
If there is anyone who could assist with the issue it would be much appreciated. Thanks!
    Regards,
    Jason Hattrick

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Are you publishing to MobileMe or a different hosting server? In either case does the slideshow display properly if you publish to a folder and open it from there?

  • Photos album preview display pic

    in the photos app
my albums have synced but the first pic is not always the one shown as the preview pic in the albums view tab
is there a way to change this
also i can no longer move organise the order of the albums directly on the phone
    are others having these problems
    are there any solutions
    thanks in advance

    Hi Nicole, welcome to Discussions.
The easiest way is to copy & paste from Amazon. Via iTunes, you can paste it by highlighting the songs within the album, right click the mouse, and then paste the art. This method will do the whole album rather than song by song. Check my post Simon Clayton, "Good source for quality album art" #2, 07:50am Oct 26, 2005 CDT
for a way of getting higher quality art, but be careful:
read the following post first Matt Downham, "Album Art Woes / iPod Freezing Issue", 01:40pm Oct 21, 2005 CDT which highlights a possible problem with art on the 5G. I am still waiting for my iPod to arrive, so have not tested it yet.

  • Automatic update in creating a photo album

    Hello,
I have created several photo albums for product photos. I was
wondering: if I need to add/delete photos do I need to create a new
album with the edited folder or is there a way to automatically
update? Thanks in advance for help.

Using the built in photo album creator in DW you will need to
    rebuild the
entire album or manually add and remove images and pages.
This involves deleting removed pages, images and thumbnails,
    then manually
re setting the links between pages and re-arranging the
    thumbnails.
If you used the image counter and you're really anal, you'll
    need to edit
that one page at a time as well.
If you plan to do a lot of editing of images, you might want
    to consider a
list type photo album like ShowPick from PVII
    http://www.projectseven.com/extensions/listing.htm
or if you really plan to
do a lot of gallery work, buckle down and buy Image Gallery
    Magic from them
(same address as above) It allows unlimited editing of
    content, rearranging
order, adding, removing images, does all of your web
    optimization and is a
    pleasure to use
No, I don't work for PVII but my life has been easier since I
    bought their
    product.

  • Any ideas on why my Apple TV no longer "sees" my photo albums? It lists events and photos but not albums like it did earlier.

Using my MacBook Pro and iPhoto and Apple TV I have always been able to navigate on the TV to Photos and then to either Events, or Photos, or Albums. I always choose albums for my "shows" but after updating Apple TV I no longer see Albums as a choice which prevents me from getting to them with the Apple TV remote. Any ideas for correcting this?

I'm answering my own question. Here's what I've discovered since the original post: 1. Turn on tv and Apple TV -  2. open iTunes on computer  - 3. under the Advanced menu of iTunes Turn On Home Sharing and click on Choose Photos to Share - 4. check Share Photos From (iPhoto), click Selected albums, Events, Faces and in the Albums column check the one you want - 5. Now, when you go to the Apple TV remote and select Photos, you will see the album you previously selected.

  • Apple TV Photo Album Order

I just noticed that for some reason, the photo albums that I initially synced to my Apple TV appear alphabetically -- and then right after all of those albums, any new photo albums I synced subsequently appear alphabetically (i.e., A-Z original albums, A-Z new albums).
Has anyone else noticed this, and is there any way to fix this?
I just checked and my iPod Classic does the exact same thing. I have no idea why. I'm using the standard defaults in iTunes.

Yes I just synched new photos and the old photo folders appear alpabetically in "my photos" but the new folders only show in a new alphabetical list at the bottom of the old folder list.

  • How can I repair / refresh my photo albums?

    Hi all,
I am using iTunes 12.0.1.26 on a Windows 7 64bit computer. I am using an iPhone 5 & an iPad Air both running the latest IOS 8.1
Since updating to the latest versions of IOS & iTunes my photo albums on both iPhone & iPad are a mess. Duplicated folders & photos in the wrong albums. When opening the duplicate folder & selecting all photos, the delete option is not there, so I can't even manually delete them.
I have deleted the iPod Photo Catche, re-synced the iPad, same problem.
I have deleted the iPod Photo Catche, re-synced the iPad, unselecting all of the picture folders. I was asked if I wanted to delete all photos, which I agreed to. Then re-synced the folders again, same problem.
I downloaded iExplorer & deleted "Photos.sqlite" from the iPad. Re-started the iPad & it rebuilt the folders & they are still mixed up!
Helllllllllllp.............. how can I rebuild/repair my albums without resorting to restoring everything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Roy.

I'm having the same problem on the iPad Aircand iPhone 6 Plus. I really don't know what Apple's problem has been lately, but it's become a joke, between the Remote app and other things. The only thing I can tell you is that I deleted all the photos from my devices and then resynced them again. That solved it until yesterday's software update and then it came back. I'm reaching my end with Crapple.

  • Where is the photo tab on itunes? My device is not listed on the left side of my screen and there is no photos tab on the right of my screen. I want to delete photo albums that were synced through itunes to my ipad 3.

I synced several photo albums to my iPad 3  from my computer through iTunes. Now, I would like to remove them and have discovered that they cannot be removed except through using iTunes. Instructions that I've read say that once the device is connected to and selected from the list in iTunes, select the Photo Tab and then the folder that contains the photos etc.  I never get that far because I do not have a Photo Tab to select in iTunes. How do I find this illusive tab so that I can delete these albums that are merely duplications of other pictures and are just occupying space. I need to get rid of them. Can anyone help me find the photo tab. I cannot move past that step until I do. Also, my device is not listed on the left side as stated in the instructions. It's in the bar on the upper right area of my screen and is automatically selected when connected. I am using the current version 11.1 for iTunes and IOS 7 on my iPad 3, if that helps.

I have the same problem on the latest iTunes software and Windows 7. My window is maximzed and I do not see any tab for photos. Seems related to a recent update (IOS7?) as this was there - at least before the very big change to the interface.

All I can say is the books I've created as gifts to my children for their children were received with absolute joy and appreciation (each book chronicled in pictures  the first year of each grandchild's life). Granted the sentimental factor had a lot to do with the recipient's enjoyment of the book but they were spetacular. The book with its glossy dust cover is a very impressinve way to present your photos.
As Larry has pointed out so many have posted here that they were very satisfried with their book and Apple is very good about correcting problems.
To make sure there are no errors in the book before you order preview the book as described in this Apple document: iPhoto '11: Preview a book, card, or calendar before you order or print it. If the PDF file shows no errors, either in text typos (my biggest problem) or in missing photos, etc., the printed book will be error free.
