Apple TV refusing to work after factory reboot

Due to the impossibility of connecting the AppleTv to internet I followed apple suggestions and performed a factory restart. Only when I started the device he tried beforehand to log to the internet, what I was not able to do even before, and lacking that it stucks on the "Connection not available" menu with its three options all of which try beforehand to establish the wireless connection returning me to the starting point and not allowing to do anything else.
I tried to unplug it but I am soon left at the same point.
From my mac I can ping the AppleTv.
I suspect the problem is with my mac and its routing capabity but I do not do what to do.
Please note the original problem with the internet connection - even if it said the problem was with airport even if the songs and photos transfer worked properly - good days they were... - arose after two weeks in which I kept the AppleTv turned off.
My wireless network consists of a MacBook connected to the internet by USB, a Time Capsule for backup but with no internet connection (presently working correctly), and the stuck AppleTv.
Thanks for any help,
Fabrizio

If I understand you correctly you are turning off the Time capsule and trying to establish an ad hoc network between the macbook and the tv. Have you followed these instructions.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8339.html
However, I can't help but wonder why you are using a USB modem when you have a Time capsule available to you. Why not use the TC as your DHCP server and keep it running, that way the tv will have internet access even when the macbook is switched off.

  • My flash player stops working after a reboot.

    My flash player stops working after a reboot. i have flash 12.0.044 installed on a dell laptop with windows 7. The flash works fine until the next day when I restart my computer. If I go to control panel / programs and features I notice that the program is still there but the icon has turned blank. If I re-install it works fine until the next reboot. I have asked the IT services company we work with and they have completely ‘rebuild’ my computer. (Installed new windows etc etc) and still the problem won’t go away.  I am at a loss. Who can help? Thank you so much in advance. Duncan

  • HT202157 Apple TV No Longer Works after the most recent update (2.1.13)

    Why can I no longer access the movies and tv shows I’ve already purchased in iTunes after the update?  It was not until the most recent update as on 2/1/13 that I started having this issue.  Please correct this so I can use what I paid for.  Thanks

    Same problem here, Apple, I'm pretty upset at the moment.  My daughter's 12th birthday, and she wants to watch a movie we purchased through your software.
    We love the normal apple usage...but, since your hardware and software are so stringently ruled...I have some expectations on the fact that it will actually work after the updates.
    Customer service outside the apple store has been suspect for some time.
    Please step up here, we've invested quite a lot in you, and we're feeling a bit let down at the moment.
    No notice, no warnings, for all the messages you do send out, "hey the stuff you bought from us and can only play it back on us isn't going to be working for a while"...would be nice.
    Or just fix it.

  • Toggle Full Keyboard Access is Not Working after Shutdown/Reboot

    Hi,
    I'm yet another keyboard maniac and somehow as above subject was keep re-occured every time after enabled it, I've turn it on full keyboard access in system preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts. All seemed to be good before I shutdown or reboot my macbook pro. I could access all the dialogs and windows. After a reboot or shutdown, all the dialogs from any other apps can still be accessed via keyboard except one single window, the shutdown window (both from hitting apple->shutdown and control+eject.) I have to toggle control+f1 or control+f7 every freaking time in order to enabled keyboard access to shutdown/reboot. I've tried "defaults read -g AppleKeyboardUIMode" in terminal and it returned 3 which is "Full Keyboard Access ON and All controls" even after a fresh reboot:-
    +++++++++
    Ben-MacOSX:~ Ben$ defaults read -g AppleKeyboardUIMode
    3
    +++++++++
    But when I'm using sudoer to check the result was set to "0" means disable:-
    +++++++++
    Ben-MacOSX:~ Ben$ sudo defaults read -g AppleKeyboardUIMode
    Password:
    0
    +++++++++
    So what I do for the workaround/fix is by the set value to enabled it using root access level or sudoer:-
    +++++++++
    Ben-MacOSX:~ Ben$ sudo defaults write NSGlobalDomain AppleKeyboardUIMode -int 3
    +++++++++
    Once done do reboot your Mac & check the result in Terminal should shows as below:-
    +++++++++
    Ben-MacOSX:~ Ben$ sudo defaults read -g AppleKeyboardUIMode
    3
    =========
    Ben-MacOSX:~ Ben$ defaults read -g AppleKeyboardUIMode
    3
    +++++++++
    So it's fixed for my issue. If anyone have better suggestion or the proper method please share.
    Thanks in advance.

  • After updating to Firefox 8.01 all my add-ons are disabled & I have to manually reinstall those that still work after each reboot??

    After updating to Firefox 8.0 & 8.01 all my add-ons were disabled.
    I have to reinstall those that still can be enabled manually after each reboot. These, that I can reinstall, are:
    Download Helper 4.9.7/WOT 20111107/Adblock 1.3.10/DivX plus Web Player HTML5 2.1.2.145/
    All my other add-ons are incompatible with this version of Firefox! This includes Ghostery which I particularly miss,
    This is annoying!

    Ghostery: Works with Firefox 3.5 - 11.0a1: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ghostery/
    It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
    Delete the files extensions.* (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
    *https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles
    New files will be created when required.
    See "Corrupt extension files":
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions
    *https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Unable+to+install+add-ons
    If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to do a compatibility check or see if there is a compatibility update available.

    I've recently updated my MacBook Air to OS X v10.9.4.  iPhoto won't work as i am currently using v9.2.  I've tried downloading a later version but have been advised that my Apple ID will not work on this computer.  NB.  I have an iPhone but have not used the Apple ID on this - to my knowledge, or another Apple ID on my system.  I'm a basic level user so any advice on this would be great.

  • After upgrading to 10.8.3 my Apple USB keyboard stops working after about 3 hours

    Mac Pro 3,1
    OS X 10.8.3 Server
    32GB RAM
    Apple USB Keyboard works fine after reboot (typing on it now), stops responding after about 3 hours.
    I see nothing in Console that looks like the culprit. Here is everything around the last time it happened - between 11:28 and 11:30 they keyboard just stopped working. Unplugging and re-plugging doesn't bring it back. Changing USB ports doesn't bring it back. Rebooting is the only thing that seems to work. Bluetooth keyboard works before and after.

    Hey Doug,
    Thanks for your post, and welcome to the Apple Support Communities.
    I understand that your keyboard backlight is not working upon startup, the following may resolve your issue:

    After performing normal troubleshooting, these symptoms may indicate that an SMC reset may be necessary:

    You may also want to reset your computer's PRAM:

  • 3gs not working after factory reset

    restored factory settings and now have apple logo on screen and phone is doing nothing please help

    If you got this after choosing "Erase all content and settings" in the Reset area of the Settings App on the iPhone the fix is DFU Mode Restore.
    But first do a Reset, Hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone begins to restart. Usually less than 20 seconds.
    If nothing, then DFU Mode Restore.
    With iTunes open on Computer, connect iPhone, hold both Home and Power buttons for exactly 10 seconds, release Power button, keep holding Home button until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. This is usually less than 30 seconds more time. If the iPhone screen is now blank, then this is DFU Mode. Restore iPhone Firmware. If you have the Connect to iTunes screen on iPhone this is Recovery Mode, you try the Restore anyway. If it works great, if not try again to get DFU Mode as I described. Even experienced users can have trouble getting DFU Mode, just keep trying you will get it. DFU = Recovery Mode with blank screen.
    If this does not work and you have Warranty or AppleCare Coverage take iPhone to Apple for resolution.

  • Apple Pro keys not working after 10.4.3 Upgrade (!?!)

    Hi All
    My computer is a dual processor G4 1.42 chrome drive door. I have an Apple Pro keyboard and a Macally 3 button scroll mouse.
    I just upgraded from 10.3.x (x=4 I think) to 10.4.3
    After the upgrade the eject and volume keys on the keyboard don’t work. The only way I can open the optical drive is to start iTunes and use the button in that application.
    I’m pretty sure the keyboard selection is wrong, but I run into a brick wall everywhere I go to change it.
    MAC HELP says:
    Open System Preferences and click Keyboard & Mouse.
    Click Keyboard.
    Click the "Change Keyboard Type" button...
    But there is =NO= such button there.
    I tried searching and found the Keyboard Setup Assistant, but it does not open or run - nothing happens when I double click on it.
    I tried reinstalling 10.4.3 - No change
    The input settings are set to US. I also tried US Extended. No change.
    How do I get all the buttons on my keyboard to work?
    A.M.

    FYI
    I've solved the problem.
    This problem, and several other symptoms (Safari hangs, slow log-on, Epson Printer Utility hangs, etc.) appear to have been caused by an old version of Spell Catcher.
    Spell Catcher is a truly =GREAT= program by Rainmaker Software (http://www.rainmakerinc.com/). It's been around in one form or another since 1985 and I've been using it almost that long. It's inexpensive, and does more stuff for me than I'll go into here. (Including checking this message as I type it.)
    -BUT- you MUST upgrade to version 10.2 if you are running Tiger. Or suffer the consequences.
    Thank you all those who have read this and tried to figure out what was going on.

  • White Screen w/ Apple logo + spinning clock frozen after SL reboot

    Hi there,
    I bought a Mac Box Set and tried to install Snow Leopard to my Mac Mini (Intel chip with 2G RAM running Tiger) today by inserting the DVD into the original internal DVD RAM drive that came with the Mac Mini. The window shown up and I followed the instruction to double-clicked the Snow Leopard icon. Then I was prompted to click 'restart' and according to the instruction, the machine suppose to reboot and start the installation. Machine started reboot and everything seems ok until the process got stuck on the default white screen with Apple logo and a frozen 'spinning clock' after 3 to 5 min... then, waited for an hour and still showing the same screen.
    I tried manually power-off and redo the same process at least 5 times and the results are the same.
    Any suggestion is truly welcome and appreciated.

    I have actually tried to install SL on a brand-new (internal and unformatted) HDD but same 'frozen' screen shown up. According to the procedure, it supposed to show a screen to let me choose if I want to do partition on my new HDD and then format accordingly. Unfortunately, this screen never shows up...
    Any other thought/idea would be appreciated.

    Sorry to hear you're having an issue with your device.
