Apple TV Rental transfers

Is there a way to transfer rental that have been rented on the Apple TV transferred to another IOS device? And How? Thank you?

I am not %100 sure of this but I believe you can only rent content though ATV now.

I would like to pay for apple tv rentals with a different credit card from my iTunes Store. How can I do this?

Any purchases made from the iTunes Store, on your computer, AppleTV, or iOS device, use the same billing information that is associated with your account. To pay with a different credit card, log in to your account and change the payment options associated with your account. If you want to use different payment options on different devices, you may want to consider utilizing multiple iTunes accounts, each with its own payment options.

  • Apple TV rentals and iTunes on iMac

I have rented movies on Apple TV.  I want to download to watch on iMac but the rentals do not show up on my iTunes on iMac.  How do I 'see' these rentals in iTunes on iMac?

Movies rented on Apple TV can only be viewed on Apple TV. If you want to move between devices then you need to rent via computer.
If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV (1st generation), iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4 or later, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.

  • Apple TV rentals no longer working

I have a 3rd gen Apple TV which has worked flawlessly for all apps, movie rentals and purchases up until a few days ago. Now when you rent a movie there is perpetual spinning during the "loading" screen. It typically I goes on to say "ready to play in 1 minute." it will say this for an indefinite period of time. if I do get the movie to start playing it will typically pause to load for extended periods of time as well while I am watching.
    Some notes:
this is only happens with rentals, I can play movies on Netflix, Hulu and any other apps.
My network is fine, everything pings with appropriate speeds and everything else works perfectly
i have reset my apple tv
i I have restored my Apple TV
    does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks for the quick responses.
I have pinged with speedtest several times when the download gets hung up. The results for my lowest result so far are download: 4.96 Mbps and upload 5.25 mbps
I Have not checked signal strength and noise, I will look into that in a little bit.
THis is problem has developed in the last few days. I have never experienced a problem before.
I Have not experienced the same issue with movies I have purchased as I have with movies I have rented.
thanks again for any assistance you can provide

  • Apple TV2 - rental system "needs improvement"

Hi...I own an iPod Nano, an iPod Touch, two iPhones, an iPad, and two Apple TVs (one new#1, one old-the big first one) -- not to mention four Apple Towers and a laptop. Suffice it to say.. I support Apple; I love Apple. Go Apple!
But the Apple TV2 leaves me a bit perplexed.
First, let me say that I like the little black box and the interface on screen is much better especially since it doesn't default to other people's content all the time (that was annoying on the old one). Plus my playlists properly sync (again, didn't on the old one unless I replaced the whole playlist again and again) And so I do not miss the syncing on the new unit. Well done.
But..about two weeks ago when I was doing some chores I thought I'll rent a movie and watch it while I folded laundry. So I picked one and rented it right on the AppleTV2 and it said, to my shock, it would take 6 hours to download!. (I have 30mbs download speeds). But given I rented it already "thanks for the money -see ya later" was of a splash of cold water. Imagine going to the video store, giving my money and then the kid behind the counter says "Thanks. Don't worry. I'll drop it off at your house at 2AM".
About a week about I rented another movie for my iPhone. Thought I'd watch it alone. But my wife was drawing and wanted my company so I decided to move it to my AppleTv2. Wait..can't seem to do that. Won't accept it. I thought it had to do with it being SD for the iPod. A disclaimer about quality would have sufficed..but "nope" was what I had to live with.
So I thought, 'to **** with it" and the next day rented it again but this time I was smart (or so I thought) - I rented it on my COMPUTER ahead of time in HD and had it ready in my Library.
So I went upstairs, chose MY library which is authorized to play my music, TV shows and whatever else on MY AppleTV2 and after a long spinning wheel of consideration sat on the screen "This content is not authorized to play on this device" appeared which shut me down yet again.
What? It's the same account. Same house. Same person. Same Visa card!
Now..I'm a reasonable guy. I get that the only way that Apple got studios to sign on board was pretty tight security protocols and, quite frankly, unreasonable 48hour rental periods (what?!? does the data have to get back to Apple so they can rent it again?).
But this nonsense of per-device rental makes me want to waste time peer-sharing my movies and convert them instead. It's less trouble (notice I said trouble - not less MONEY. Take note. It's the service guys. Apple-you know this better than most).
As I said..I love Apple...but their rental experience spoils the movies.

"You did make mention of rental limitations in your post."
    ????? Ya..I think I did..it's what started the post.
"I don't see the use in pointing a finger."
It's not about blame. It's targeting the source of the problem. If someone...well..let's say YOU...said to me "Your settings on your computer need to change to blah blah blah.." I wouldn't take it as blame as much as identifying the problem.
If Apple products don't let me share between my computer and an Apple device and all evidence seems to point to a restriction on the device by Apple (for whatever reason) I don't think I should label it an Act of God and move on.
I think I made it pretty clear from the get-go I'm an Apple FAN. A big one! And I've supported ($$$) my team in many ways.
My disappointment stems from what appears to be a stranglehold on how I share my media on my devices use my account (one person). That's all.
Imagine if, on the outset, iTunes would never let you use the same purchased music (when it was DRM) on your iPod and your iShuffle. How popular a decision would that have been?
Well..now I want to share a DRM movie between my computer (with my account) and my AppleTV2 (with my account).
If it helps to call it blame...okay I BLAME APPLE. But my choice in phrasing is more like a question:
    why is it doing this?
    Am I doing something wrong?
This doesn't seem like it should work this way.
If the answer is: ya..you're doing something wrong and here it is - great!
If the answer is: ya..it's supposed to be like this but here's WHY and what you haven't considered IS blah blah blah blah --then okay!

  • Apple TV / Rental

I understand the software update for ATV will not be out for a few weeks. However, does anyone know whether a rented movie today from iTunes will still stream to ATV (without the software update)?
    Thanks

@Leah, same here, I found this article
    http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08/01/15/firstlook_apple_tv_2_0_and_itunes_movie_rentals_photosvideo.html
here is what they said about the rentals
"Now, users can rent and buy movies, as well as buy music, music videos, and TV programs directly from the iTunes Store using the simple remote control. While music and video purchases can be synced back to a desktop iTunes library, just like the new WiFi Store on the iPod Touch and iPhone, video rentals ordered on Apple TV can't.
You can rent movies directly from iTunes for playback on iPods, but those can't be synced to the Apple TV. Therefore, you have to choose whether a rental you order is something you want to watch on TV or anywhere else, before you actually rent it. Given that rentals are $3.99 and $4.99, that decision isn't as deeply ponderous as it might initially seem to be."
It sounds like 2 different animals, another question, if I rent via AppleTV, can I watch on other AppleTV's in the house? many times we start out on the Big screen, then retire to bedroom to finish, this is more important since you only have one night to finish.

  • Apple tv rental did complete last night.

Watching a rental last night.  The movie stopped in the middle.  I can't find it in settings to complete the download.  What can I do?

A number of people have reported similar issues recently, many appear to have found a discrepancy of some kind in their account settings and making changes to these settings or simply resetting them has resolved the matter.
Check your account details are correct, check that you are using the correct details for Location, Region and Time Zone. You may want to change these settings and then change them back to see if that helps.
You might also try logging out of and then back into your iTunes account (Settings > iTunes Store > Apple ID’s > Sign Out) and restarting your router. (Some have reported that after doing this, they need to check for rentals even though it may report that there aren’t any, after which rentals once again appear in the ‘movies’ feature)
Rentals should appear under their own heading in the ‘Movies’ feature, you might also check at Settings > iTunes Store > Check For Rentals.

  • Why mess with Apple TV Rental menu?

Talk about making it harder for customers!
Rentals use to be simple - it was on the main menu but I can't see it anymore. Now I have to search through the Settings and then find Rentals and then watch it sitting there spinning away!
Who is messing with the simple beauty of the menu systems?
Surely it doesn't need to be this hard Apple!

Ok - logged out and had to log back in and it's back. Why does an update mess things up? Oh well. Now off to the Apple store to fix my iPhone 5 that doesn't work as well.

  • Content Purchased from Apple TV Not Transferable?

Hi. First, I'm a newbie to these discussions.
Second, I recently purchased some content through the iTunes store on my Apple TV. The content shows up in my purchase history but is not available for download to my laptop. This seems strange to me as content purchased on my iPhone is transferable and is able to sync.
QUESTION: Is this a known bug and/or how can I resolve?
    Thanks,
    DANNY

Thanks Alley Cat. Still no go on my end. When I right click on the Apple TV icon in iTunes it only gives me "Turn off streaming" as an option.
Is this a streaming library only - I'm not sure if purchases only sync back to a synced library - when I right click on my AppleTV it says 'turn off syncing' not 'turn off streaming' in the options.
Beware os setting up a new streaming library at this stage as it might wipe your AppleTV clean of purchases - this would clearly be a stupid software feature.
AppleTV really needs a foolproof drag and drop to get purchases on your computer to backup.

  • HT1498 (1st Gen) Apple TV Rental issues:

Last 2 rentals I have purchased through my 1st generation Apple TV have appeared to download fine, however when I go to play all it shows is a white screen with no sound. Has anyone else experienced this. Were you able to come up with a solution? Thank You.

Try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds, or resetting it using the reset option under general. You should also try restarting your router or de/re authorising your iTunes library.

  • Perplexing Quality Issue: Itunes Rental VS Apple Tv Rental

Hello everyone, I have a quick question hopefully someone can help me out with.  I find that when I purchase a rental directly from the Apple TV interface, the quality of the material is not quite as good as when I download it from iTunes and then Airplay stream it to my Apple TV.  Why is this?  Is this standard for everyone else?  I have made sure both on iTunes and on Apple TV that my settings are at 1080p.  It seems that allowing the movie to completely download via Itunes and then streaming it to the Apple TV yields better quality.  Anyone experienceing the same thing?

Don't have any solutions to offer, but I sympathize, because I have had that occur in the past.  A few images simply refused to sync from Smart Albums, for reasons which completely eluded me.  Very frustrating!
The problem seemed to have resolved itself, but I always suspected the problem was mainly with the system-wide media browser (whatever it's called).

  • Is there a maximum number for rental transfers to devices?

    Hello
I don't rent movies from iTunes that often but currently have two awaiting a watch. Earlier today I tried to transfer both to my iPad. The transfer went fine, and the second almost completed, but presenting me with an error message saying that it could not be copied because it had already been transferred to a device. Except of course, it..errr...hadn't, otherwise it wouldn't still be in iTunes, would it? So what's the issue? Was the error message in fact referring to the first transfer: are you only allowed to transfer one one rental at a time?
    Any input appreciated!

Eventually figured out that this was down to a corrupted file

  • Apple TV Rental Help!

When I try to rent a movie it says Your Purchase Cannot be Completed. Its tells me to go to www.apple.com/support/itunes/ww. That website is worthless. I called and have to pay $29 for the ability to speak to them. Very non-Apple. My CC is correct and my Apple ID works since I use it to buy music. This probelm just started and I have reset and restored my device and still no luck. Can anyone help?

Instead of calling, click here and fill out the form. There isn't a charge for this.

  • Apple TV rental has corrupted sound

I just rented a movie on my apple tv.  It downloaded and the image is perfect but the sound is corrupted and garbled.  It can't be watched.  Any idea what I can do?

Try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history to contact iTunes Support : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that film and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work (it's been taking some people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.
