  • HT1600 "Restoring to factory condition failed."  What do I do now?

I have an appletv first generation.  It seems to be locked in the restart, run diagnostics and restore to factory condition setting.  I have tried all three and none have worked. I believe I have all software updated.  The appletv also does not show up in my itunes on my macbook pro.  I have tried unplugging everything and restarting everything as well.
Does anyone have any suggestions?  Is there a manual restoring that can be done?
    Thanks for your time.

My Apple TV is actin' the fool:
Your Apple TV could not be restored to factory conditions. Try again or go to www.apple.com/support for help.
I found one archived topic about this that was unsolved.
    Anyone?

I kind of figured it might be that the hard drive partition with the restore image is inaccessible. It is pretty silly that running the built-in diagnostics show the thing is working fine and has no problem.

  • Odd Partitions after Restore to Factory Condition, Why?

HP Compaq Presario CQ57, Windows 7 Home Premium SP-1 64 bit
A month ago I bought an HP Compaq Presario CQ57 notebook (laptop), which comes installed with 2 x 1GB RAM modules. It functioned fine. A couple of weeks ago, I upgraded the RAM by replacing one of the 1GB modules with a 4GB one.
When I restarted Windows, yes, it did blue screen momentarily, but recovered with another start and then things went well for a week.
Then, upon attempting to reboot, it failed. On the Windows Welcome screen, it flickers briefly before it fails and goes to a blue screen.
Using the HP Recovery Console,  after trying a recovery that didn’t work, I tried the option of restoring to factory condition. Then,  it still produced blue screens, giving error messages like IRQL less than equal and Page fault in non-page area.
I replaced the new RAM with the original 2 x 1GB RAM and tried a restore to factory condition option again. This time it worked. However, the hard drive partitions are odd.

As you can see, Disk 0 is divided into
    System 199 MB, C 75GB, not labled 133.34 GB, Recovery D 19.38, HP TOOLS E 3.97 GB.
    Ignore the CD ROM below.
Isn’t System supposed to be on C? And the 133.34 GB unallocated space isn’t supposed to be there either.
I ran the restore to factory again and it produced the same disk partitioning. I consulted HP customer service, and they sent me a Windows disk and wants me to try restoring from that rather than from the Recovery provided on the hard drive. I haven’t done this yet, but is there an explanation? And actually, can’t I simply expand the C partition to the unallocated space to the right?

In Disk Manager (see the pic above), the C partition has "boot" in parentheses after "Healthy". Customer Service claims it's tools from Microsoft, but I'm not satisfied that's correct. And it's only 199 MB.
So to be clear on my question, What is the rightmost partition, the one labeled "System" in the above pic? It appears the OS and boot are on C.
And how should Disk Manager look on a normal, successful restore?

  • What to do if when trying to sync iPhone to computer you get the message "itunes cant read content of iphone. restore to factory condition"?

what to do if when trying to sync iphone to computer the message appears "itunes cant read content of iphone. restore to factory condition"?

If you're receiving that message, you data are already gone.  If you've been using iCloud and backing up your phone as recommended, you should have no data loss.  If you have not, well, hard lesson learned.  Good luck.

  • Restoring To Factory Condition Using Similar Model

    Hi
My eny 17 3010en was vandalised by some douche and I lost my original internal hard disk.
A friend of mine has an envy 17 3xxx, I'm not sure which on exactly, but I want to create back up disks from his device to use on mine. Is this advisable???
P.S. My reason for doing this is to restore my keyboard backlight capability which just stopped somehow and NO ONE in HP seems to know how to fix this problem.
So what's the point of designing a backlight feature that nobody in HP is willing to help fix??? I don't mean to bad mouth, but that's some lousy service right there. I now have to result to my own means to fix the one feature I love most on this device.
    "Thanks HP"

    Hi @Chabbzz ,
Thank you for your query, I will do my best to assist you!
I regret that someone vandalized your notebook and took the hard drive. I also regret that HP support has not been able to help you overcome this issue.
I am not sure if that will work or not.  I would definitely give is a try.  I would check to see if you notice any hardware differences.( example the network card or graphic cards.  If so his system would require different drivers then you do on yours.
Please be sure your friend is aware that he will only be allowed to created 1 set of recovery disks. Creating Recovery Discs or Saving a Recovery Image to a USB Flash Drive (Windows 7)
You could try just installing the original drivers for the keyboard.Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 7)
You may wish to consider Obtaining HP Recovery Discs or an HP USB Recovery Drive for your exact system.  This would allow you to restore your system back to factory condition.
    I hope this helps.

  • Rescue and Recovery "restore to factory settings" fails

I have had need to recover my T61 to the state of original receipt. I boot from the recovery startup disc and select that I wish to recover to factory settings, and that I wish to save no files. After a progress bar fills, I am prompted to insert Product Recovery Disc 1. After it has completed, I am prompted for Disc 2, then Disc 3, etc., until the Disc 8. After the last disc progress bar is filled, I am presented with the message "Product Recovery failed to restore your system." The T61 then boots to the Rescue and Recovery menu. I have attempted this once again and have the same result. Please help if you can!

Trying to do a restore to factory settings, ive tried holding down '0' on bootup but i get nothing it just goes starts up.
I want to totally reset to factory settings, but unable to do it?
You said that Win 8 system run on this notebook.
As far as I know this notebook Satellite L750D-14R was preinstalled with Win 7 64bit OS.
This means that HDD recovery procedure will not work because the HDD content and the partitions has been modified!
To recover the notebook back to factory settings you would need the Toshiba Recovery disk/medium. If you did not create such disk then you could order this here:
    http://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/
Anyway, I guess that the LAN connection doesn’t work due to LAN driver issue.
I recommend you to uninstall the LAN driver (in device manager) and to download the latest available LAN driver from Toshiba EU driver page.
After LAN driver installation reboot the notebook.

  • HT201380 how can i restore my apple desktop back to factory condition?

    restoring back to factory condition

This forum is for questions about Apple Remote Desktop, Apple's software for managing networked Mac systems, and hence not the best place for your question. I'd suggest asking in the forum for the version of Mac OS X your iMac came with.

  • Erase and restore to factory condition

having problems with my 11 months old applemac using iphoto and reading the suggestions to correct, prompts me to take the easy option of starting all over again.i do have the origional photo cds ,plus dvd back ups and feel that this might be the way to go.
can you advise please how i would go about erasing and restoring please.
    thank you

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What problems have you been having with iPhoto?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • HT1414 can i recover the contents of my iphone after restoring to factory conditions

I am unlocking my iphone4 from Att. I will be able to restore the contents of it after the unlock?.

Sync your phone to create a current backup. Once done, hit the "Restore" button on the Summary Pane. Once complete, you should get the "Congratulations" screen. Then, restore your phone from the backup you created when you started.
That's all you have to do.

  • Unable to boot normally or restore to factory fresh on original generation1 Apple Tv

    Hi,
Not sure what I did but here is the problem I have with my original gen1 apple TV (40GB).
Now everytime it reboots it comes up with these options.
    1) First comes with Language options : I select ENGLISH and it switches to that language
    2) Then, I am asked to choose a resolution : I choose 720p
Then, the following 3 options are given
    3) Restart
    4) Run Diagnostics
    5) Factory Restore
Now if I Restart, it comes to the same recovery options as above. I see that the apple logo goes off and comes back during the boot process. This probably indicates a crash. I am not sure though. The hard drive works normally and no clicks are heard. If I run Diagnostics, it says everything is ok with the ATV. But factory restore fails with the following message "Your apple TV could not be restore to original factory condition" In other words I dont get the regular menu and the box appears to be bricked. The LED is blinking amber during the boot but turns off after the boot.
Is there anyway I can come out of this? Can I reinstall the OS or something? I do not have a cloned image or something like that. I am desperately looking for a solution. Can the ATV connect to iTunes via USB like the iphone or ipad at this point? I have downloaded the dmg OS file but dont know how to install it fresh. Will replacing the hard-drive solve the problem? Please help  !!!
    Thanks
    Sinu

Please help me out here. I tried booting it off a USB flash drive with ATV flash but that gave me some errors and prompted me to login with username [email protected] with password frontrow
But I am not sure how to get to login using a suitable input. I tried to telnet it using my PC over network but I dont think it has initialized anything (like wifi or network) at the prompt. Would it take USB keyboard input? All I can do is remove the power and restart it with the usb flash out and get into then get into the recovery loop. I am not sure replacing the hard-drive would help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sinu

  • I recently upgrade to an iPAD Air. I gave my old iPAD (1st gen) to my wife.  I restored it to original factory conditions.  Now we cannot install iBook on it since it requires iOS 7.  What can we do with older iPADS that are still 100% functional.

Look at this similar problem in getting Netflix on an iPad 1. Same technique should work for you.

  • I need to erase the contents of my phone and restore to factory settings. Does anybody know how to save your texts so you don't lose them?  Can I back those up to iCloud?  My phone was very likely hacked (Apple's advice was to call the police!)

"I need to erase the contents of my phone and restore to factory settings. Does anybody know how to save your texts so you don't lose them?  Can I back those up to iCloud?  My phone was very likely hacked (Apple's advice was to call the police!)"
That was all I could put in the initial "box."  Then it brought me to this page with instructions on how to write a good sentence.
    Proceeding ...
After going back and forth between Apple, AT&T and the police (all telling me to go to the other two) I took AT&Ts suggestion and got a new number. One tech warned against doing a backup, especially on my Mac, saying if my phone had been hacked then whatever bug was there would then invade my computer. But nobody knows how to determine if the phone has been hacked or a virus was planted there. Unfortunately I know who would have reason to do such a thing and all I can say is that he is at the top technologically and could easily do it. Almost impossible to prove, however.
So I need to preserve my text messages and my emails as well. I backed up my photos to that Microsoft product (One-Drive) and it froze (Surprise, Surprise) with four short videos to go, and no way of stopping that (when I tried it crashed repeatedly) so I'm in crisis mode here.
    Help ...
    Running 8.0 on 5S
    Thanks!

Betty I don't know if you fixed your hacking problem but I feel your pain. I've seen some strange things going on between my iMac and my iPhone and Apple has told me the same thing, call the police which I have done. The hackers have stole 500.00 out of my checking account have access to every internet account I use and no matter how often I change the password their right back on the account. I closed my FB account 3 times only to have someone reopen it. Right now I've got a link in my reading list (Safari) that if I click on it, it allows me to log onto my FB account anonymously.
I've seen a green folder come out of no where while I was trying to delete my passwords out of keychain when that green folder was put into the key chain I was immediately locked out. I than went into system preferences to try to make changes to my security settings, when I clicked on the icon it wouldn't open. I've seen log files of automator receiving commands and sending out my personal information thats on my computer.
I have a legitamate program called iExplorer that allows you to look at the contents of your iPhone back ups and saw a transaction someone made at the Apple store for some full length movies, some albums, ibooks and other apps but when I called the iTunes store and they said none of those items were showing up on my account. If their not on my account how can they be on my iPhone 6? One day someone was using my gmail account and unknowingly used google maps to search for an Italian restaurant, than a Mexican restaurant than a coffee shop and their search showed up on my iPhone but I didn't have my gmail account installed on my iPhone 6. Using my computer I logged onto my gmail account and looked at the maps history and sure enough there were the searches when I'd hover my curser over the link it gave me the longitude and latitude of the where the hacker was when he was using google maps. I know whoever reads this thinks Im crazy but I've documented everything and can prove the things that I have mentioned in this post actually happened.
One day I had my laptop (pc) and my iMac next to each other as I was using both. when I clicked on airport it showed that my laptop and my iMac had made a connection and were actually communicating with each other. I know I didn't do it I don't know how. The iMac was logged into my iCloud account while my laptop wasn't. I have formatted my iPhone at least a dozen times, Apple and an Apple retailer have formatted my hard drive not to mention the numerous times I have formatted it but the hackers keep getting on my devices. Im formatting my lap top at this very second because during the course of the night I left the ethernet cable plugged into it and they locked me out of my c: drive, and configured the system so I can't download any updates from Microsoft, overtime I type in www.microsoft.com it changes to ww38.microsoft.com which takes me to a blank page. I right clicked on the page I was redirected to and read the java script and couldn't believe that someone had actually configured Internet Explorer to redirect me to a blank page when I tried to go to Microsoft. Apples answer to all this is there was nothing wrong with my iPhone or my iMac and if I thought there was a problem to call the police which I have done.
Theres no doubt the hackers are reading this while I type it or will read it and I simply don't care anymore. I no longer email anyone, don't use my iCloud account and have taken precautions to protect my credit but if I ever find out who has invaded my privacy to this extreme the police are going to want to talk to me because Im going to hurt them like they've never been hurt before
