Apple TV search features broken

Used to be on a search under movies your could search and the search would only return movies. If you wanted to search for music you would start in the music and then search. Now when I select moves and search i get everything, music and movies. That is stupid. For instance start under movies, search for Frank Sinatra. Not one of his movies will come up, but 96 of his albums will. How do we get Apple to put this back the way it was before. Used to work just fine. If I am wanting to watch a movie I don't want a list of albums to come up.

it's a discontinued product so you would have to do it yourself from scratch unless you found a defect device to use parts from
I would say it was and I would say a quick google would provide some step by step dis asm of the appletv 1g thats how I discovered it had a fan inside
people also tried to put SSD disks in to replace the hd so those guides would help you too

  • Forum Search Feature Broken

Since Monday, when I use the Search feature, I get the following result:
The page caused an ESI processing exception.
I would have searched to see if others are having the problem, but the search feature is broken. :)

This happens with search This Forum. However, it seems to be ok when I choose All Forums.

  • Apple Mail search feature?

Is there a concise list anyplace that explains how to do boolean searches in Apple Mail, and all the various options?
Have found information scattered here & there, and help file offers general instructions but no information on how to actually make them work. Essentially says "you can do boolean searches".
    Couple examples:
"If you began your search in the Spotlight menu in the upper-right corner of your screen, click Show All to switch to a search window."
    Where is "Show All"?
    Perform a Boolean query
A Boolean query uses AND, OR, and NOT (known as Boolean operators) to narrow the search results. You can also use a minus sign (-), meaning AND NOT, to exclude items when you search. Here are examples of what you might type in the search field when you use Boolean operators:
author:tom OR author:thom searches for items authored by Tom or Thom, if you don’t know the exact spelling of his name.
trip -france searches for items that contain the word “trip” but not “france,” so results might include photos from a trip to Spain but not to France.
Looking to search a message from person A, with the body or subject of the message containing text X. How do you type the second operator (above syntax doesn't seeem to work)? How does one even know what all the operators are without a list in a dialogue box like other email programs have?
Image below is an example of a search. Can't get a second operator to work:
    http://tinyurl.com/77unn2w

That the text changes at all is the problem. I simply want to type a word, and search for it. The drop downs limits the choices, apparently, to what Mail thinks you want. If it's not there, you simply can't search.
Example below. I want to search for a message from "Roy". I type "Roy". Mail doesn't have an option to search the "from" field. Have seen that option other times, doesn't appear here for some reason.
Second issue: you can't get any options at all for a second search term without choosing one of the "pre-filled" choices that appear. There were some pre-filled choices further down, none of which applied. Clicking "Message contains "project" leaves you with no choices (to search the subject field, for example).

  • Search feature broken on this Forum!

When I use the search text box on the Director Support Forums
    homepage I get:
The web site you are accessing has experienced an unexpected

  • IE-11 Image Search Feature Broken

I've used Google as my default search engine with IE for years.  When I search for images of plants, I have it set to load 100 images per page.  If I click on an image a few screens down from the top of the page, a larger image opens for
preview and provides the option to go to that site.  However, a few days ago, that behavior changed.  Now when I click on an image, it jumps me to the top of the page and I have to scroll back down to the original location.  Cleaning up
temp files, etc. did not help.  I also tried resetting the browser to original, and then did a system restore to a date prior to the problem.  All failed to resolve the issue.  However, when I installed Google's browser for a test, the
problem was resolved.  Any ideas to fix?

Your question is off-topic here. If there is a web page that lead you to here, tell its author that the instruction is wrong. To report a Google search
results page that doesn't look right in Internet Explorer, visit https://support.google.com/websearch/troubleshooter/3425345?&ref_topic=3285072#ts=3502652.
This forum is for helping web developers in writing better web sites for Internet Explorer. Looks like Google needs some help here, not you.
Note one web site work in one browser but not another does not mean the browser is at fault. For example, the Windows Update site does not work in Chrome or Firefox because the web site's server side does browser detection and refuse to work with these browsers.
Google has similar policies for certain version of Internet Explorer. Search "Google internet explorer support" for Google's support policies for Internet Explorer.

  • Annotating pdf documents in Preview - the text search feature doesn't work?

    Hi everyone,
I'd like to annotate my pdf documents using preview. However, I realized the other day that as soon as I start annotating a document (with notes, shapes, highlighting, etc), the preview text search doesn't work anymore.
Thanks for any help or advice!

This is a known problem. I have seen one suggestion to print the annotated PDF as a new PDF in order to get search capability back. You can try the Apple Discussions "search" feature at the upper right corner to look for more suggestions.

  • The ipad safari on facebook will echo characters on the search feature.  Please fix this STUPID error!  At the least, investigate it and come to a suitable response.  Stupid things like this are making me lose faith and interest in Apple products.

  • Mail search feature not working

Not a good day today but to top it off, my Mail search feature doesn't seem to be working.  In the past I've praised OSX Mail search features and enjoyed the instant results all whilst bashing the inop feature Outlook and Notes try to utilize.  I'm afraid to say the OSX Lion Mail search feature is completely non-functional.  As I was searching for this issue through the support topics, I noticed this very topic appear then quickly disappear.  I couldn't duplicate the search again for anything.  Hmm.
Also, what's the dealy with opening a PDF in Mail with Preview and your last 5 PDF's open as well?  Uncool.  And I want Safari to open with my Home page, not the last page I visited.
At least the Spotlight will still identify the messages I'm wrangling for.
No need to reply... just need to vent a bit.

A lot of things are broken in LION. Not recommended for professionals (only iPad users).
But here's a way to make better use of Mail Search:
In the new Mac LION MAIL app, it's not apparent that you can search for any part of any email address the way you could before with any previous OS, for when you type partial email text in the MAIL search field, it simply gives you a drop-down list of wrong or limited suggestions and none of the suggestions are email addresses, but people's names. I don't want to search by name, I want to search by email address. (Maybe I'm the only one who does this.) If two different email addresses have the same associated name (which I have), it chooses the wrong one and searches for the wrong email address!
    But there is a way:
    1) Select the mailbox you want to search (if any).
    2) Type in the search field:
              to: any_string ["return" or "enter"]
              OR
              from: any_string ["return" or "enter"]
    3) Your entry will change from this:
    to this:
    4) Notice that after you press "return" or "enter", your "to:" (or "from:") becomes a pull-down-menu button and the MAIL's silly choices go away. If you click the button, you get this:
and you can change your choice.
    3) Strangely, "to:" or "from:" MUST be ALL lowercase for this change to take place. (It will still work if "To:" and "FroM:" are all or part uppercase, but the change to a menu button will not occur.)
    4) On the menu bar below the toolbar, you will see the places to search ("All…Selected mailbox…Inbox…Drafts…Sent…Flagged")
    Hello Lara_Croft.
Again, this time with your original fix.  This works for me..  big help until Apple gets this squared away.

Okay, i have 2 bugs with maverick.  First, when I delete a file within a window, the files deletes but the preview doesn't delete until I close the window and reopen it.  Second, I work on a network of computers and the search feature is now buggy...  When I search for a file, A) it asks me if it's a name, or it wont produce anything, and B), its slower than in prior OS versions and in some instances I have to toggle to a different directory and go back to my original directory in the search: menu bar or the search wont produce anything...  Very buggy.

It appears to me that network file access is buggy in Maverick.
In my case I have a USB Drive attached to airport extreme (new model) and when I open folders on that drive they all appear empty. If I right click and I select get info after a few minutes! I get a list of the content.
It makes impossible navigate a directory tree.
File access has been trashed in Maverick.
They have improved (read broken) Finder. I need to manage a way to downgrade to Lion again.

  • Apple Mail search not working for Inbox

In the last few weeks I've notice the Apple Mail (5.2) search feature has stopped working correctly.  It used to turn up all relevant results in a mail box, then lately it seems (based on the results) to go back just a few weeks and not the full year of mail that is in the mailbox.
Following the advise of a MacWorld article I removed these files from Mail's library folder… Envelope Index, Envelope Index-shm, and Envelope Index-wal, restarted Mail and followed the prompt to reindex.  Following that… Search works worse, I run tests to find a word in the body and get 0 results… and I know it's there.  As I type in the last letter of the word into the Seach lozenge  I get a list just below the lozenge ) of People and Subjects that contain the word but nada results for the word in the Body of the message.  These tests were run on the Inbox, other mailboxes (with List-serve Mail) seem to work ok… but the Inbox Search is what I really care about.
Any ideas about fixing this?  Thanks in advance,
    Paul

  • The search feature in Address Book no longer works

I have over 2,400 contacts. For no apparent reason the search feature in my Apple Address Book no longer works. The  Address Book app has quit several times recently, again for no apparent reason. It is probably unrelated, but Preview has also been quitting. I have repaired permissions and used Disk Warrior 4.4 to rebuild the directory. Any thoughts?

That was a while back...after a little research to jog my memory, it had to do with iCloud. I found this on another page, and I think this is what I did to fix it:
"I had the same problem and fixed it a slightly different (and probably safer) way:
Backup your Address Book - File > Export > Address Book Archive
Go into preferences > iCloud - untick syncing for Contacts
When it asks you, tell it to delete the contacts from your local Mac (all your local address cards will be deleted but they will still be in iCloud)
All your cards should now be deleted from Address Book on your Mac
    Quit Address Book
Go into preferences > iCloud - tick syncing for Contacts (this will download your contacts into Address Book again)
Open Address Book and after a few secs you should see all your cards and the problem should be fixed"
The important part is to be sure to export your Address Book before doing anything. I think I ended up afater deleting all the cards and quitting address book, I reimported them from the backup I exported. Has been fine since. This is pretty safe as long as you have that exported file.

  • Does pages have a search feature on documents

Does pages offer a search feature for documents.  If I have a document and want to search for a specific word or phrase how can this be done?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
    Try a Spotlight search?
If you've never used it, Spotlight is the 'sort of magnifying glass' icon at the upper right corner of the top menu bar.
    Click on the Spotlight icon.
In the box that opens, type in your search term(s), a space, and .pages, and click on Show All
Spotlight will open a Finder window.
You can refine your search results including where to search This Mac or "Desktop" for example, and whether searching for Contents (words or strings embedded within documents) or Filename.
Now you can choose a document from the results displayed.
Clicking on a filename and pressing the space bar lets you view the document without actually opening the program that created it.
You can control what kinds of documents are/are not indexed by selecting  from the top menu bar, then System Preferences, Personal, Spotlight.

  • Search feature in the new 1.2 software not working

i just watched the video of the announcing of the new ipod features and it showed him using a search feature from the new 1.2 software but i dont have it on my ipod. why is this?

Apple, if you read this, please consider adding the search to "old" 5G models. I just bought a 60g a month ago (I know, silly me) and the search option is something I've needed since my original iPod a couple years ago.
I find it hard to believe that there is new hardware to support the search, although I suppose it might have a faster processor or something.
Anyway, I would really like to be able to search.
    Please?
