Apple TV showing 0 songs for album

Hi All - So I've got a album that's showing up on my Apple TV, but it lists 0 songs. The album/songs show up in my itunes, and I can play them both through my computer and the apple tv (via itunes). But when I use my apple tv I just see the album with 0 songs... any thoughts?

Jonathon I don't mean to tell anyone how to organise their libraries, and I wasn't saying that the 'zero' albums issue is OK. I was trying to explain the best workaround to the situation, and let you decide whether to take it up or not.
Let me ask you this: if you have 50 CDs of Beatles, Rolling Stones, Abba etc how would you store those? Now add in Tom Petty. Where do you put him? T or P? Well I put him under P (Petty, Tom).
I would enter them as 'The Beatles' under 'artist' etc, itunes would automatically sort them under 'B'. Personally I would have Tom Petty as 'Tom Petty', which would show under 'T'. I appreciate why you and others would want them under 'P', but as you say that's easily sorted as you say by listing as 'Petty, Tom'.
I have a McCartney album which has other artists on it. I want the fact it has other artists on it for info, so I have the album listed as "McCartney" in "artist" and all the other artists under "album artists"
Personally I have this the other way around 'Paul McCartney' would be the 'album artist', however this is where the tv has a problem which tagging the album as a compilation provides a work around for.
And why should I have to search for "composer" when I'm browsing my library? I might be in the mood for some Edie Brickell but see there's a chorale by Bach I haven't heard?
Again, I tag my music slightly differently than you, I would have, lets say 'Symphony #4 in A Major/1' as the name', 'LSO' as the artist and 'Mendelssohn' as the composer, and would search for each in their respective categories. This doesn't cause a problem for me but I can see doing it another way may well introduce the zero song problem.

Please Help me! Itunes wont show my songs in albums!

I have a mac (Mac Mini, Mac OS X Server Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)) and I have itunes updated and everything else that I would think need to be updated but this has been happening for so long. For all my albums I can not see the songs, like it just wont show them when I click on album cover / thing. But my music does show when I go to songs. It also wont show in, Artist, and Gernes.

If iTunes does not appear to be grouping your songs correctly under Album, Artist, or Genre, you may want to check to make sure that something hasn't changed or removed the metadata from those fields. The following articles explains a bit more about the metadata attached to song files:

5th gen ipod not showing all songs for artists....

I just updated to 1.1 about a week ago, so i am not sure if this issue was present in 1.0 or not.
when looking at the artist list on my ipod, i noticed that if I go into a artist and that artist has only one album listed, it goes directly into that album list. Therefore not showing your other songs that you may have by the same artist because dont have the album name. Has anyone else had this issue??

I have an iPod touch and before I got it, I made sure I had album art on all of the albums, by starting a song and then dragging artwork image. Naturally now, only track 1 per album has the album art.
How can I make sure that when I drag album art that the WHOLE album displays the art, instead of only one song having the art and all the others having the standard eighth-note background? Thank you.

Get Info on the entire album, and drag the art to the Artwork pane in the lower right.

On my mac I have my downloads from i tunes. I have previously transferred thousands of songs onto an external hard drive. How do I show these songs and albums in my i tunes on my mac without adding them to the computer as there is insufficient space ?

PLEASE HELP ME. I transferred my music library onto an external hard drive as it contains about 30 000 songs. I got a second hard drive as extra security and loaded the songs onto that as well. To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions
Delete the "songs" that do not play in your iTunes library and reimport them.

IPod wont show artist songs w/o album

so ive noticed that when im using my iPod ill select an artist to listen to and some of my artists have album info while others dont (mostly because theyre singles or whatever). The problem is, when i select the artist, it will only show the songs with album iformation, so i cant scroll down to find the other songs w/o an ablum that i want to listen to. The only way ive been able to look for those songs is if i hit the play button while the selector is over the artist name, but then i have to press "next track" a whole bunch to hear the one song i want to listen to at that time. Is there an update that I am missing that fixes this problem?

yeah, this irks me as well. I have like 30 some b-sides by my favorite band and i wanted to just throw them in my ipod without album name so that i could see them below the album titles in the artist part. didnt work, so i just "made up" a b-sides album and put them all in there that way

I understand that you are having issues with your music displaying correctly. This may be an issues with the metadata stored within that song, and iTunes interpretation of that info.

Sorry for not getting back with you...
That moves only the iTunes media, not the iTunes library (which is really kinda nebulous).
iTunes library = iTunes folder and all the media, wherever it is located.
The /Music/iTunes/ folder contains the iTunes library.itl file, which keeps track of everything in iTunes.
I do however still have the original MAIN startup drive still in the computer, it's just not the startup.
This is good you still have it.
Try this...
Hold Option and launch iTunes.
Select Choose library... and select the /iTunes/ folder on the original drive. It should be in /Users/your_user_name/Music/.
Don't mess with anything. We can get it cleared up.
Does everything work okay?

Is it possible to show or view multiple album artwork for one song on an iPhone 4, especially on the now playing screen? I figured since iTunes has this feature then the iPhone should too. Can I download an app that does this? I've searched but couldn't find any, maybe I'm using other keywords. Could anyone point me in the right direction with this?

Search for shared library is impossible, as far as I know. Searches supported - are local and internet.

Have you tried re-building the artwork?
Try unchecking "display album artwork" in the music preferences section when your iPod is connected and click "apply". Then sync your iPod.
Then check "display album artwork" in the music preferences section when your iPod is connected and click "apply". Then sync your iPod again.
This should resync the album artwork to the iPod.
If this does not work, you might need to restore the iPod and reload the songs in order to correct this error.

Also in the first page of Get Info for all tracks set the Album Artist to be Various Artists.
If you select all the tracks and right click to get info then you can do all the tracks in one go

A recent album purchase / one song is showing a podcast for cover

I recently bought a album from itunes. Then the next day I downloaded a podcast.
After I watched the podcast, I listened to the album, when it got to the seventh song, I noticed that
the album cover for that song is showing a clip from the podcast and not the album.(But is playing the song)
All of the songs for that album show the proper cover. Anyone know how to fix this?

I fixed this by deleting the song and the podcast and then replaced it back into the ipod .

How do I organize my itunes library so that album name only shows up once for multiple song?

When I view the songs in my itunes library, it appears that album names appear multiple times even though they are the same album. (that I may have added to my itunes library at different times).
For example: For U2 album War, there are multiple songs in my library which I downloaded or uploaded in my itunes album at different times. Now the album War under artist U2, appears multiple times. How do I organize and make songs that belong in the same album appear under the album once so when I choose the specific album, all the songs are available there so I can listen to it all or shuffle it within the album. I don't want single songs under the same album names. It is very irritating. Please help to organize my itunes library better, I have a large album and it would be much easier if the album names would appear once when I have multiple songs for that album. Thanks!

Each tune gets a file name - that is how iTunes works. iTunes is a data base manager.
In a PlayList a reference is created that will link to a specific tune.
You can take the tunes that you do not want listed under a particular album name and change the album name using 'Get Info' for that tune(s) from the iTunes window.

I made a cd on a macbook pro in itunes. it plays fine in my car and also shows the song's name, singer and the name of the album. however, when i play it on another apple computer, the songs only are listed as trak 1,2,3, etc.! that is strange, any idea?

On the computer where you made it, with the correct track information displayed and the CD still in the drive, use the command Submit CD Track Names, as pictured below.
This sends the information to Gracenote/CDDB. Once Gracenotes digests the info into its database, that CD, or any identical copies, can be identified by any computer that is running iTunes.
