Apple tv shows photos in random order

hi,
i have the 2nd gen apple tv and i can't get Photos showed properly.
They are on my pc (Windows 7) and they are sorted by filename (001.jpg, 002.jpg ...).
When i try to watch the photos using apple tv, they are displayed in a completly
randomized order. This order has nothing to do with the filename, the date or the size,
it's completely random.
Any hints on this problem ?
Best regards
Stefan

I'm a PC; Windows 7-64; Apple TV 1st generation
I had the random problem as well with one particular folder of photos. No matter how many times I renamed/relabled them, nothing worked until this.
I noticed that the other folders with photos IN ORDER still had their old camera id numbers (i.e. IMG_0762, etc.). It was then that it dawned on me that maybe Apple TV didn't like my numbering system for tha out of order photos. This numbering system (file name) went from 1 to 177.
So I made all the photo file names into 4 digit numbers and it's important to use the zeros properly. photos 1-9 became 0001-0009; photos 10-99 became 0010-0099; photos 100 to 177 became 0100-0177.
After I re-synched these, they were ALL in the proper order...
ENJOY

  • Show photos in random order (with possibility to switch back to last one shown)

    Hallo!
I'm having trouble to to show my entire photoselection on my ipad in random order - like on a regular photoframe. The only possibility I figured out, was to show the whole library as a screensaver in random order. Unfortunately in this case I'm neither able to zoom in the current picture or to switch back to the last one(s). In the build in photos app i can start a slideshow with all pics but I didn't found an option to randomize them.
I already tried tons of photoframe-apps, but all of them have problems to import all of my ~30.000 photos (automaticly) without having to select every single one of them.
Does anyone have a solution on this??

I'm now using Snow Leopard, and the same thing happens. Don't know if it is relevant or not, but one of the things I've noticed is that the System Preferences window (even when hidden) shows in the right place, but clicking on it doesn't work. It is as if the window and the buttons are somewhere other than where they show on the screen. Quitting System Preferences and restarting it solves the problem.

  • IOS8 Photos not showing photos in chronological order

Photos App not showing photos in chronological order!!
what gives apple?!  I take a picture, go to Photos and since theres no more camera roll, I'm forced to go into Photos Tab, and when I select "Collections", I see the tiny thumbs of all my pictures sorted which look fine in chronological order, But when select to go down to the next level of viewing (Moments), the dates are all over the place!  When I scroll all the way down, I should technically be at the most recent of my pictures taken. Its not, it shows Aug26. Then one above that Aug 21 Then next few are in Aug; mind you we are in September. Then theres Jun 25. THEN finally some recent photos of Sept 26 and 15!!! THEN the next one is MAY 31.
So trying to find my most recent photos taken is painstakingly tough.

Check this thread out. I have mobileme, but this solution worked, perhaps you could try something similar for your Gmail account...

  • How do you play photos in random order?!?!?

This is apple right? You can do things very easily, thats why I switched from PC. How do I view photos in random order in iPhoto? The help menu says to choose the "Shuffle Slide Order"... WHAA? Where is this on the menu, am I doing somethig wrong? Please tell me I am just missing the obvous.
    Thanks!
    B

    Hi Brian,
I am assuming you are talking about an "on the fly" slideshow.
Select the images, album, roll, etc. and hit the Play button on the bottom left of the window. In the next window, check "shuffle slides order"
Pssst...just a little hint, you will not find shuffle on a permanent slideshow menu for an option.

  • Still photos disappearing and showing up in random order?!

    Hi,
I'm trying to add a series of still photos to my iMovie project, and while they're appearing correctly in the project map, they either disappear or appear in a random order when I play back the movie. Oddly enough, if I play it back a couple of times in a row, it'll pick a different random order to show the photos...if it decides to show anything at all. I don't seem to be having the photo duration problem that other people seem to have (knock on wood), but this seems really weird. Is there a setting I'm missing?
Thanks in advance for any help!
    Mardie

I may be mistaken, but it appears that you are trying to add stills to an iMovie Trailer template. Unfortunately, the Trailer templates only allow the insertion of video clips. The way around this limitation is to convert the Trailer to a normal project, then you can add stills and/or edit the project in the normal way. At the points where you wish to add stills, just leave the animatics in place. When the Trailer is converted, simply replace the animatics with your own stills.
To convert the Trailer, go to iMovie's menu and select File>Convert to Project. It's best to duplicate the Trailer first. To do this, in Project Library view, right-click (or Control-click) on the name of the Trailer. From the pop-up menu select Duplicate Project, then convert the duplicate to a normal project.

  • Slideshows show photos out of order

    Hi there
I have an Apple TV and looking at my slideshows, my photos are displayed out of order. I renamed all the files so they are in the sequence I want, however that made no difference.
Seems as though the Apple TV is showing the files in order of the time the shots were taking which is not what I want given the re-naming process I went through.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Mike

AppleTV shows you your pictures in whatever order AppleTV decides, and you WILL like it. ha ha.
Seriously, I've tried and failed here. I have no clue how the thing decides what order to show pictures, I don't think it's necessarily in the order I shot them in.. it's more likely the order they get copied over by iTunes. So maybe uploading your photos 1 at a time will enforce a specific order.
Since there's no way for Apple to monetize your personal photos, I don't think they are really interested in developing that part of the software as well as they do for the movie rental and itunes store portions. I've had this device for almost 2 years now and pretty much only the parts that they use to sell me stuff have been improved in that time.
Personally I'm about ready to convert my iTV into a doorstop.

  • Photos in random order

After I upload photos to iphoto 09, they appear in random order, not at all according to date. I can't use "split event" because alike photos are not even next to each other... How do I fix this or move photos into some order that makes sense? Or must I always upload photos after every single day/ event during the day to avoid the scramble??

    View menu  ==> sort events?
Alternatively you could provide enough information that someone can actully help - like what version of iPhnoto - what the source of the photos is - what order they are in - if the dates in the EXIF info of the photo are correct - etc

  • Showing photo titles in ordering window

I've labelled all my photos 1.jpg, 2.jpg, etc. Then given people an order form on which they write the numbers of the prints they want. Then the idea was I just add them up and order the totals for each print. But when I opened the Order Prints window I found it wasn't showing me the photo titles! Is there a way I can get the titles to show??
    Please help...someone.
    Thanks a lot.
    Yours in annoyance...

    James2:
I don't think so. It's not designed to break it out by image, just the total of each size.

  • Apple TV (2) photo slideshow display order different than iPhoto album being shown

Both ATV (2) and iPhoto (9.4.2) have latest software updates. I sort photos in Albums by date. But ATV displays the photos in a different order. Does ATV use some other intrinsic sort order for its display? Is there a way to make the ATV slideshow show the photos in an Album in the same order in which they appear in that Album in iPhoto on my iMac? Thanks.

I suspect that you will have to re-edit the metadata to accomplish your goal. As images are copied and moved this is often modified (place/geotag, faces, dates).......... Just a though. You can download the photos and both check it and if necessary change it in iPhoto

  • Photos in random order in Camera Roll

I have an iPhone 6 with iOS 8.1.2.
For some reason that I don't know all the photos in the Camera Roll are mixed up.
The logical order (and the one it always had) is in order in which they were taken.
Now it doesn't seem to have any logical order...
    So anoying...

This is happening to me too.  It wasn't immediately after the ios5 update though.  My symptoms:
some camera roll photo thumbnails are blank (gray or black)
thumbnails not matching up to what the photo actually is (the same thumbnail shows up multiple times)
some photos are blurry looking (pixilated)
if I email a photo or edit, then it corrects itself (shows the correct photo, not blurry)
if I try to view photos from the camera app, rather than the photos app, it just crashes
I also can't get any photos off my iPhone as the phone no longer shows up in my computer as a device.
Please see the examples below.  Please help!!  This is extremely frustrating.

  • Anyone have ipod sort photos in random order on upload?

My iPod loads pictures not by file name it seems. Anyone know what order it sorts them? Or how I could get it to keep the same order as on my hard drive?

Anyone use an ipod to load photos and view photos? No one answers my post and I cannot figure this one out, I tried deleting them, renaming and loading them again but it picked the same sort order. Very frustrating...
    Help!

  • Putting photos in random order

I'm making a slideshow and I have all the photos loaded, my question is, is there a way to rearrange the photos so they are not in order that they were taken? I'm looking for a quick way I started to rearrange each photo individually but that is taking forever.
    Thanks
    Jennifer

to move a picture to a different spot on the movie you click the picture so that the yellow box is highlighted around the picture. make sure it's not on edit mode (where you can flip or crop the picture) and once the little white hand appears you can click it to grab and move anywhere you'd like.

  • Random order by in SQL!

    11g
    Hi There,
I had posted this query in the Application express forum, but I guess it really should have been posted in this forum, since its more of a sql question. Apologies if this is against the forum rules.
We have a pie chart in Application Express which has select like
select null, '0-10' Days , count(*) from table
    union
select null, '11-20' Days, count(*) from table
    union
select null, '21-30' Days, count(*) from table
    union
select null, '>30' Days, count(*) from table
The 3d pie chart was showing the slices is the correct order 0-10, 11-20, 21-30, >30 but now shows it in random order.
Unfortunately, the charts in Apex have a restriction as far as the select statement is concerned, it should just have three values in the select statement, the first is a link (can be null), the second can be any column_name or description and the third a value like count, sum etc. Now, the above query is to get the count of sales in the mentioned number of days and so what is happening is that it is taking the values as character sorting and I think randomly sorting in the apex chart. Now, this works fine in SQL! So was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to maybe force the sorting on the second column (0-10, 11-20 etc). If I take those values as 010, 1120, 2130 3000, something like that(basically a number) it seems to work fine, but then those show up as labels on the chart which is not correct.
Any suggestions on how to get the order by working. I suspect since the Days column in the select is a Character column this issue is occurring, however, with the restrictions in the number of select items we can have in the Apex charts, was wondering how do you get the order by working?
    Thanks,
    Ryan

you would have to add an explicit order column that maps the string to its position in the result: that could be an id:
    group_name|group_id
    > 60      | 4
    11-30     | 2
    0-10      | 1
    31-60     | 3
    Regards
    Martin
P.S.: and you could add the information via: case when group_name = ... then 1 end group_id

  • In downloading my Events from iPhoto on my Mac to my iPad Air, the Events arrive in the proper order but not showing the Key Photo.  At the same time, the Events arrive in iPhoto on the iPad in totally random order but showing the Key Photo. Why?

In downloading my Events from iPhoto on my Mac to my Ipad Air, the Events arrive in Photos in the correct order but not showing the Key photo. At the same time, the Events arrive in iPhoto in a totally random order but with the Key phto showing. Why? of course and is there a way to shift the order in Iphoto and get a Key photo in Photos?

HHi, thank you for the reply. I have checked my iPad and iPhone and neither has iCloud Photo Library (Beta) enabled. Turned off in both. Photostream is turned on.
i tried to sort it out  by dragging all the photos to Events on the Mac and then deleting them from iCloud - (left hand side of iPhoto under the section 'Shared'). the photos now show up in Events. I did force quit but the issue remains. The message reads ' photos are bing imported to the library. Please wait for import to complete.'
i can't empty iPhoto trash either. The message read "Delete error. Please wait for import to complete.'
WHen I was moving the photos to the Events I always had a message about duplicates - to the effect that the photos already existed, did I want to import them? I clicked on Yes, import all duplicates. But when it showed the images - duplicates side by side - one showed the photo and the other was blank.
I really don't know what to do! And I don't know how to handle my iOS devices. Is it to do with the large number of photos? Any help, advice appreciated.
