Apple TV - signal fallout

Hey,
After a long battle with Itunes 10 and my ATV, I can see it and choose it as external speakers.
But......The signal falls out from time to time. Sometimes its a second other times it is 5 seconds.
When connecting to the apple tv as external speakers, I am getting "error 15000" but second or third time it connects.
Any of you wiz who knows what there is wrong?
Thanks in advance.......

are you connecting to the appleTV via wireless? it sounds intermittent.. it sounds like it could be from interference.. could be from leaky microwaves ovens, cordless phones, other wireless networks near by..
if it is wireless and you have a router that is 802.11n capable you might want to switch to 5GHz instead of 2.4GHz.. take it out of the range of most of the interference.. if 2.4GHz is the only option you may want to try changing the channel that the router broadcasts on..

The remote app requires both to be on the same network and home sharing to be enabled, you will need the physical remote to set this up. You can purchase a replacement through Apple.

  • Apple TV signal goes on and off on my TV HDMI source

My apple TV works fine when rebooted but once I try to change the source on my TV the TV has trouble recognizing the ATV signal. it goes on/off on the tv screen.

I just returned an Apple TV to the nearest store. After three days of troubleshooting, I figured out that the problem was a bad video card. It worked for less than a week, and I was constantly having problems that I couldn't nail down.
Rebooting sometimes worked; restoring video for a few minutes. Eventually I connected the Apple TV's component outputs directly to my tv (Sony Bravia KDL-52V5100), and that worked for about ten minutes; then it too started blinking on and off. The picture was visible, then not visible, then visible, then not visible...
While the component cables were directly connected to the tv I still had the HDMI cable connected through my receiver (Onkyo TX-SR507), and the loss of signal showed there as well. The Apple TV video output was failing.
I checked the HDMI cables by using them with my Blu-Ray player (Samsung BD-P3600). The cables (which I paid $0.22 for!) were not the problem. The signal from Blu-Ray player routed through the receiver to the tv with no problems. You can easily eliminate the cables as the issue by using them with a second HDMI device, taking the Apple TV out of the loop.
In the end; after consulting with Apple Support (Apple TV was less than 2 weeks old), we came to the conclusion that it was likely a bad video card. They set up an appointment at my nearest Apple Store, and I was able to get a replacement immediately, as their brief test showed, the video output was not functioning properly.
I got a new Apple TV and all is good. Solid signal, and no problems noted since yesterday (15 July) at 10pm.

  • Apple TV signal drop from TV

Hi, My Apple keeps dropping the signal from the TV. I have the latest Samsung TV using 50Hz1080HD and my Apple TV is connected via HDMI. If I have it on the correct TV input channel and reboot the apple then the TV finds the signal, if I then change channels on my TV then return to the Apple TV channel it just keeps saying searching for signal. I have put other devices on this channel and cables to sensure the TV is working which it is. Can anyone help please?

    Welcome to the  Discussions.
This is a typical HDCP over HDMI issue, unfortunately it happens with all sorts of equipment. I've heard here on the forums though that on some samsung tv's with more than one HDMI port that there is one port which doesn't have this problem. (I think it might be port 2, but not sure)

  • Apple TV signal Problems

    HI,
I recently moved and placed my appleTV (3rd generation) on top of my router, on my TV stand. I wanted to have everything in one location. I noticed my airplay was lagging and music would cut in and out, if it played at all. In addition, netflix was also extremely problematic. I thought it was an issue with my router so I reset all the settings. Now I have started to think it is because the router and apple TV are too close so I moved over the Apple tv just to the other side of the TV stand. So far (15 min) I have not had any problems. Is it possible to have these two devices two close? By the way, everything is new except for the router. Purchased it about 5 years ago from apple. I run a 27 inch mac, iphone 4s and ipad. Airplay is extremely important to me.

All the cordless phones in the house have been of since i got the Atv as i thought that they might be causing the problem. Microwave is 2 rooms and currently not on. So i don't thing interference is the problem
As mentioned already the Atv can 'see' my router, 3-4 bars out of 5 are showing on the signal strength in settings for my wireless network with the router 2 rooms away. Media from the Itunes store and youtube can be viewed with no problems at all, not juddering or lengthy waits whilst is buffers.
My powerbook has a good up and down load connection to the net thru the wireless router, with the powerbook situated either in the room with the Atv or the room where the router is.
I can successfully 'ping' the Atv direct from the powerbook, 10 pings both ways with no errors.
So the wireless network to and from the router seems to be good. The problems appears to be when info is passing from one mac to the other THRU the router?????
tried moving the router to another phone connection upstairs and still no good.
There seems to be no pattern to it some times ATV shows up in itunes then it disappears. Sometimes is says its syncing but its clearly not as the capacity bar is not changing, then for no reason it just disappears from itunes. Only way to get it back is to shut stuff down. Other times its not there and there is no way to make it appear. But all the time this madness is going on i can still view the itunes store and use youtube. So it can always without fail see and talk to my router in the study but finds it impossible to make contact with the powerbook sat 3 inches from the router it can see!!!!!!!!
    Really mad now

  • KDL-4655100 Sony Bravia not picking up Apple TV signal

Once in a while, I get a no signal on the HDMI port where ATV is connected.  Sony HDMI port where ATV is connected is lit up so I know Sony is recognizing that something is connected but not getting any signal.  I've tried switching ports, and even used the HDMI port where blu-Ray is connected (and working) but not getting signal with ATV.
Also tried resetting ATV and Sony Tv but no luck.  Changed the HDMI cable, but still no luck.  Any other solutions?  Thanks.

I have a SONY KDL-40S4100 which supports full 1080p. I have changed all the settings to see if it makes any difference. Still get the same error. Even tried using expensive Monster cables. If I turn the TV off then back on the apple TV menu appears for a few seconds then the screen flashes, every now and again a message displays saying something about invalid data or something and a few (10 or more seconds) later the apple TV menu is back. I have run the diagnostics and all is good. Any ideas?

  • How: Extend a non-Apple wifi signal with Airport Express

I have a Wifi modem provided by the ISP, Tiscali [Italy] unrelated to Apple.  I want to use my AE to extend the signal to another part of the house.  The Tiscali router was set up with WPA2.  I have Airport Utility 5.6.1 [yah, I know, old; haven't moved up from OS 10.8.5 either, MBk Pro] and the Airport Express is MC414Z\A  C86L9K02DV3R.  Opening the A Util w the AE powered up [yellow light showing] I immediately saw the AE listed at the left, but now that I go back to the Utility and rescan, it doesn't find the AE, altho Airport is one and lists that AE showing a full signal, properly calling it "gatti.11n."  Your advice would be most appreciated and likely will be helpful to many others saddled with a non-Apple wifi router.

Apple AirPorts cannot wirelessly "extend" a signal from a third party product.  They can only wirelessly "extend" a signal from another Apple router. Another way of saying the same thing is that if you want to wirelessly extend a network using an Apple router, you need two Apple routers.
    You have two options:
Option 1.  Add another AirPort Express and install it close to the ISP modem/router using an Ethernet cable and configure the Express to 'create" a wireless network. Then, your other AirPort Express can wirelessly extend the signal from the first AirPort Express.  The "extending" Express will need to be located where it can receive a strong signal from the first Express.
Option 2. If you cannot run the Ethernet cable....or....you do not want to add another AirPort Express, then a pair of Ethernet Over Powerline (EOP) adapters might be able to send the Ethernet signal over the existing AC powerlines in your home.  These products are also sometimes called HomePlug adapters.
The theory with these devices is that you already have the wiring in place.....you just need the adapters.  In practice though, things do not always work as well as the theory might suggest. So, if you decide to try a pair of these adapters, then it would be good idea to understand the store's return policies before you buy.
Any computer / electronics superstore will have a selection of EOP adapters. Ask the salesman what type and brand that he would recommend.

  • My JVC LCD Stopped recognizing Apple TV signal

With the new update of Apple TV 3, my JVC LCD stopped recognizing Apple TV through HDMI port. The screen remains "blue" and nothing happens.
I have tried changing resolution, color, HDMI cable and nothing. At the beginning it worked like for 5 minutes, but then stopped working.
I have tested the HDMI port of my tv with other products and there is no problem.
¿Someone with the same problem? ¿What can I do?
    Thanks.

What is the model number of the TV? Have you tried a different port? If possible try on another TV.
If it persists you can try to restore Apple TV or take it directly to Apple.

  • Apple TV Video Signal Times Out

That's the best way I can describe it. Since installing the latest firmware (allowing rentals, new UI, etc.) if I turn off my TV (panasonic plasma) then turn it back on after a couple of hours the monitor reads "no signal". The only way to get it back (that I've found) is to reboot my Apple TV. I'm using HDMI out for the video connection (direct to monitor) and fiber for the audio (to receiver).
Anyone seeing this behavior and/or know a better solution than unplugging and plugging in the apple TV unit over and over?

Thanks for the reply. Neither switching the TV input nor the apple TV remote will 'wake up' the apple TV signal. The only thing that seems to work is power cycling the apple TV.
An example: Before this last SW update I could turn off my TV and receiver (say after watching a movie), come back in a couple of hours, turn the TV and receiver back on and there would be my apple TV screen saver and I could nav around etc. Now, when I turn everything back on I just get the 'no signal' indicator on my TV - nothing I've found short of power cycling will bring it back.
    Any other thoughts?

  • Apple remote not working

My Apple remote is not working with my MacBook. The Mac OS X 10.5 Help Knowledge Base says to go to Security > Systems > and Disable remote control infrared receiver. I don't have a systems button or box nor the checkbox to Disable remote control infrared receiver. And, my MacBook has an infrared receiver.

    Hi Focus,
I have the same problem. When I update from TIger to Leopard the front row apple remote still working. But is been a long time the last time i used and now on 10.5.2 osx the apple remote not working as I imagine.
I read some answers that help me understand better the problem. My check box of "disable remote.."is unchecked and I saw a "pair" button and try to pair with my apple remote. The tips told me to HOLD "menu" and "next" buttons of apple remote to pair him with computer. And Works fine. So I try to push only Menu button (as I've done so many times on tiger) but still does not working. So I realize the command to "start front row from apple remote" now on Leopard 10.5.2 is MENU+NEXT buttons and does not anymore only menu button. For me works like this.
While I write this answer I try again push and hold only MENU button and after almost 2 or 3 seconds holding button appears on screen an virtual image of my apple remote signaling to replace the battery, may be now will be works only on push menu, but I need to change the battery first.
    I hope help somebody.

  • PPC Mac mini + Apple remote

Hi - I've got a PPC mac mini and use it mainly with EyeTV 2.3 / Miglia TVMini. I managed to get Front Row installed on it, and it sort of works ok with the Miglia remote.
Having read that EyeTV now supports the Apple remote, I went and got one - to find that it doesn't work. Presumably EyeTV only supports it if the mini has the internal inrared sensor. Which mine doesn't. (Although the TVMini appears to pick up the Apple remote signal, just not do anything with it.)
Aside from the fact that I'd be shelling out another £25 to get a £19 remote working, would connecting an iPod dock with built-in infrared allow me to control front row via the Apple remote? Ie will OS X recognise it as a built-in infrared sensor - which the remote seems to want?
    Cheers

  • Apple tv on multiple tvs at the same time

I just purchased an iPad 2.  I am interested in adding apple TV to my home.  My questions are:  If I had a apple tv for each of my TVs, would it possible to play videos on multiple TVs in my house simultaneously?  Also,  Would there be a way to use a second iPad on the same apple TV signal? Any information would be great.

If the content was in iTunes and compatible you could have a computer running itunes and each AppleTv would be able to play iTunes content.
If stuff was bought from iTunes store and available in the cloud in your country you wouldn't need a computer on and could stream iTunes Store purchases from the internet provided your connection was adequate.

  • No signal on TV, sometimes?!

hi,my samsung tv seems to struggle to get the Apple TV signal. i have it plugged in via HDMI wire, if i unplug the hdmi wire and put it back in it works fine and appears on screen, but when i am just generally turning the apple tv on, it cannto find the signal, or takes ages. i have reset the apple tv which hasnt fixed the prob. my tv is capable of 1080p, which the apple tv is set too. can anyone pls make any suggestions?

Hi, how did you solve it? Both my Samsung LCD TV-s (a 32" and a 40" Full HD TV) looses the HDMI signal when I resume Apple TV from sleep. I have to reboot Apple TV to get display back correctly. It didn't use to do it, but after the latest update (I think), it constantly does it.
