Apple TV speeds up playback when using airplay?

Hi there.
I'm trying to airplay a cartoon from my Mac mini to my Apple TV. The cartoons are imported to iTunes.
If I open them on my computer in iTunes, the volume and picture is normal and working fine. However, when I Airplay that to my Apple TV, suddenly, it gets sped up by a bit... This increases the pitch of everything, as well as the speed of the show. What gives?
I used handbrake to convert the files to the "Apple TV 2" setting before I imported them.. here are screens of the settings for audio/video

one more weird thing, if I do a normal airplay of my screen to my apple TV (via the little button in top toolbar) the volume and everything is normal... so it seems to be iTunes doing this? But like I said, if I play it in iTunes and don't airplay it from there, the audio and everything is normal... what the...

Our Apple TV loses connectivity to our wireless network while using Airplay from our iPad or iPhone 5. This started occurring after the latest iOS update. We are able to wirelessly stream movies from iTunes without any problem. This issue occurs only when using AirPlay. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have a:
new MBPr 15" late 2013 with dedicated graphics card
new airport extreme base station
3rd generation apple tv
iPhone 5s
200mb download speed (not important, as streaming video on your local network has nothing todo with outside bandwidth)
All equipment is up to date software wise. Airplay mirroring from my laptop to my apple tv is ok. I get frequent lag, pixelation, audio skip (every 10 mins or so).
I'm using the 5ghz specturm to connect to the airport express so shouldn't have any inteference from my neibours (accordiing to iStumbler i'm the only person with a 5ghz setup using channel 30). I've tried connecting apple tv wirelessly and wired. No issues streaming from my iPhone or an iPad!
Surprisingly, using apps such as Beemer or Air Video Server on my MBP work better than native mirroring when it comes to video play back.
Strange when you think how Air Video works:
Video file lives on MBP
iPhone connects to laptop
Video plays on iPhone and is sent to Apple TV via Air Mirroring
Rather than:
Video played on laptop
Video sent to Apple TV
Seems bizzare that my iPhone can handle better streaming than my pro laptop.

Sky go is an app that does not support video AirPlay, not all apps do.

Losing WiFI on MacBook when using AirPlay to Apple TV

When I use AirPlay to 'Extend Desktop' from my 2014 MacBook Pro to my Apple TV, about two thirds of the time my MBP will lose its WiFI connection to my Airport Extreme. So AirPlay and Extend Desktop works fine, but my MacBook no longer has access to the Internet. The WiFi signal strength icon on the MBP menubar just goes grey. If I click on the menubar icon, it just says "Wi-Fi: AirPlay" rather than the name of my network.
It's like AirPlay just takes over my WiFi connection to connect my MBP to my Apple TV, forcing out the WiFI connection to my base station. But again, one third of the time my MBP will remain connected to the WiFi and the Internet when using AirPlay. And other devices, like my iPad, always remained connected to the Extreme and can access the Internet.
I've been scouring the Internet looking for solutions or even other people having this issue, but no luck so far. Thought I'd ask here to see if anybody had any suggestions.

Finally got a chance to test this out. Saddly enough, it didn't work.
I deleted the movie from iTunes (no hard delete), then added it again. Same problem :-/
And yes, they are all saved in the same location (Movies folder).
Any other suggestions???

Do you get an "HDCP error"?
Since the last ATV software update, I have had problems playing You Tube content from the iPad to the ATV using airplay, yet the same content from the You Tube channel on the ATV plays fine. I get the dreaded "HDCP error" which is nonsense, as YouTube content does not have this protection. Netflix also gives the same error. (I have posted seperately about this problem.)
I have had a couple of years of fault-free playing with my setup, the only thing that has changed is the Apple ATV software. Ergo, they need to fix whatever bug they introduced. None of the recommended "fixes" have worked.

Probably a quick question, but I'm fairly new to Macs. I've a Macbook Pro 13 Late 2011 and now I've got an Apple TV, I use AirPlay. But how do I stop system sounds when using AirPlay?

Open AirPort Utility located in HD > Applications > Utilities
From the AirPort Utility menu bar click AirPort Utility > Preferences
Deselect: Monitor AirPort base stations for problems

I'm having the same problem, just upgraded ATV2 to 5.0 and now I can't use Airplay from my iPad2. When I try I just get the spining clock timer.
However the strange thing is that mirroring does still work.

I find it extremely frustrating that Apple does not care for such an obvious bug affecting one of the basic funcionalities of AirPlay. Unless, of course, if there's something I don't know - but I've done some research and it seems that plenty of people have same issue and no solution is settled.

Intermittent issues will point to a local network/wifi issue.
Reboot ATV and router, make sure both are up to date
Try ethernet
The home sharing connection will cut out if the iMac goes to sleep.

I have done this for several Titles, using Photoshop and a Layer Mask, that gets "erased," revealing the letters. My Titles were of "handwriting with chalk" on a blackboard, so I could keep the edge of that Layer Mask, looking more like the "chalk." Photoshop also makes it easy to output Layer Comps for each "step" in the handwriting process. IIRC, I did about 5 Frames per Layer Comp on Import, but do not recall if I used an extremely short Cross-Dissolve Transition between those - I intened to do so, but just do not remember if I liked that, or went with just the Still Images? Will try to find that animation, and maybe create a full tutorial of the process. In my case, I also added an SFX of chalk on a chalkboard.
If you have Photoshop, it's really quite easy to pull off.
Now, I do not know if Photoshop Elements has Layer Masks yet, which make it so very easy to accomplish. One could do it backward, where the Text Layer gets Erased, and then one would have their full Image as the last in the sequence, and then the next would have a little bit of the Text removed, then a bit more, then a bit more - going backward, until the "writing surface" is clean. One could also do this with a Transparent Background, so that one saw the Video below, and no actual "writing surface" visible.

No sound when using Airplay for Movies on Apple TV

For reasons unknow, when I try to stream full length movies (Lion King and Nemo bought from iTunes) from my iPhone or Macbook Pro using Airplay, there is no sound. When I stream smaller movies, like Boundin' the Pixar Short, there is no problem.
Side note 1: Why do purchased movies not show up like purchased TV shows on Apple TV? I feel like I shouldn't have to use Airplay for movies if I don't need to use it for TV shows I buy.
Side note 2: For some Netflix movies played directly from Apple TV there is no sound. Other movies work fine and the movies that work or don't work seem to change day to day.

Apple has not negotiated the rights to allow this is the assumed reason.
We can't even play Purchased music or TV Shows from the cloud in UK.

Also the 1st gen device was discontinued awhile ago, since it runs on a different OS compared to the newer models it hasn't received any updates for 3 or 4 years now. There would be no update to check for.

Apple TV name followed by random number when using AirPlay

Hi, I've been having this issue for a while and it's getting on my nerves because I can't seem to find a reason and there's nothing on the internet.
Lately, whenever I use AirPlay, the name of my Apple TV in the drop-down list of devices appears like this:
There's that annoying number between brackets following Apple TV, and I've no idea why it's there. Whenever I try to use AirPlay to stream a movie, I see 188, but when I stream audio I see '2', and some time ago, number 5 appeared; they keep changing. Right now, for instance, there is no number when streaming audio (just 'Apple TV'), but sometimes that annoying number will appear.
I see the number from either my Mac or my iPhone. And just in case it's important, my Mac is connected through ethernet to a Time Capsule, and the Apple TV is wirelessly connected to the TC.
I know it's something rather silly but what bugs me the most is not having the slightest idea of what that number is or why it appears. I want to get rid of it.

I changed my Apple TV name to Living Room Apple TV but it still has the number following the TV identification in the mirroring window. It starts at no number then gains one number at a time. If I unplug the Apple TV electric plug, then plug it back in, the number disappears - then, sometime later, starts adding the number again. Doesn't affect the Apple TV performance, just an irritation.

So here my problem, when I use airplay from my MBP(or iPhone)to my ATV2 audio will dropout. The song stil plays in iTunes(I can tell by the minute count) but no audio comes through my ATV2. Im using an ATT Uverse Cisco router, and all software is up to date.
Its a frustrating issue, any suggestions?

I occasionally have the same problem,I have found if I unplug the app tv it now works ok sometimes I have to hard reset the ipd iPhone for this to work in fact it did it a few hours ago and it's now working again.I hope this helps
