Apple TV - Startup Assistance

I just ordered Apple TV having just recently crossed over from the darkside (pc's).  Is there a site on how to setup and use Apple TV with all Mac devices.  Thank you.

Take a look at the Set Up Guide.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
If your iMac is only 9 months old, it probably comes with OS X Mountain Lion, and it includes AirPrint, so you do not need to purchase anything else apart from the printer (which is compatible with AirPrint).
Once you have purchased the printer, you need to follow the steps of the manufacturer. To add the printer to OS X, see > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4670

  • Creative Cloud Issue After Using Apple's Migration Assistant

I bought a new Mac and used Apple's Migration assistant to transfer everything from the old Mac to the new. Everything works with all apps except Creative Cloud. Creative Cloud states that some files are missing and prompts me to download and install Creative Cloud again. I do that and run the App. The app runs for a minute, acts like it's installing than I get the same error -- Creative Cloud is missing some files or some files are corrupt, please download and reinstall -- it brings me to the webpage to download it again. I'm stuck in this infinite loop!
The old Mac where Creative Cloud runs fine is a 15" Retina Display MacBook Pro. The new Mac is a 27" iMac.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • Pourquoi Apple a une assistance aussi pourri

PPourquoi Apple a une assistance aussi pourri?

What is your question. Why do say they have decayed assistance? This is a user to user support forum, not manned by Apple. You type out your question in as much detail as possible, what you have done to try and fix the problem, and then wait for someone to answer.

  • Consequences of not completing the Startup Assistant

What are the Consequences of not completing the Startup Assistant?
After a TM restore and the Setup Assistant splash screen had finished, I CMD-Q out of it.
I have seen that when I open (for the first time) apps such as Aperture, I do not get registration details filled in.
This I can live with, but are there any other consequences that may have a future impact?
If so can i run Startup Assistant again? or at least where is the data yo enter into it sored and can it be entered manually.
That is the basic question. What follows is a summary of why this happened. , but you probably do not need to know that to answer the above, just included for completeness.
This is on a Mac Pro with 4 HD's:
    1) System
    2) user home folders
    3) Video/Pic Music files
    4) Time machine drive
I had two users on the machine. An standard user called 'Home' and an admin user 'Neil'
Both user home folders were stored on drive 2)
My initial mistake was calling one user 'Home' , Time Machine auto excluded it from the backup.
Once I realized this I created a new user, logged into it and deleted the old user named Home.
This is a new machine and I am installing various bit of software as I search for apps that I need. I ended up with loads of useless apps, so decided to go for a Time Machine restore, keeping just the d/loaded packages of the apps I wanted.
The TM restore was for a time BEFORE I got rid of the user 'Home' When it rebooted, i could not logon as the user 'Home' was gone.
Got this sorted with another Restore, created sacrificial user 'home', rebooted then restored again to the earlier time, setup new users correctly with 'non system' user names and rebooted.
It was at this reboot, loggin on to the new users that the Setup assistant appeared that I quitted out of
    Neil

OK, great, so it is not a 'System breaker ' error that I have committed.
I have since been through and launched all the apps in the apps folder. had to do a reinstall of the iLife and iWork apps, but everything else was fine.
Both iLife and iWork were both up to date from Software Update, but even with a re install from original disk, the updates were kept....newer files were kept ....wheww something went right today

  • Erase all users and rerun Startup Assistant

I just got a new iMac and did not use Startup Assistant to migrate my data over from my old iMac during my initial power up, but I did setup a an admin account on the new iMac. Because the admin account has the same name on both computers, from what I read earlier in this forum, using Migration Assistant now may cause problems with the accounts on the new iMac. Since I have not used the new computer much yet, I would like to start from the beginning and use Startup Assistant to move accounts and data over to the new computer. Will a reinstall of 10.6 from the DVD erase all users and let me rerun Startup Assistant or do I have to erase the drive and do a clean install?
    Alvin...

Assuming the admin account on the new Mac has nothing you want to keep, you might try this alternative:
    1. Create yet another admin account on the new Mac, using a name you don't want to use later.
    2. Log in to this account & delete the first admin account in System Preferences > Accounts. You will be asked if you want to keep that account's home folder. Instead, select the option to delete it completely.
    3. Now run Migration Assistant to transfer the admin account from the older Mac to the new one. There should be no conflict because the new Mac no longer has an account with the same name.
    4. Optionally, finish up by deleting the account made in step 1, using the same procedure as in step 2. Or keep the second admin account around for testing or whatever.

Everytime I connect to iTunes, I get iTunes startup assistant like I am new. I've had an account for over 2 years!!  Why is this happening?

No, you have to connect to iTunes and restore via iTunes. This may help:

  • Intel Imac won't get past Apple on startup

One of our 17" Intel Imacs (early to mid 2006 model) will not get past the Apple on startup. I have done the following:
    1. Replaced the ram. No luck.
    2. Zapped the PRAM. No luck.
    3. Reset the SMC. No luck.
    4. Tried booting from several CDs including disk warrior. No luck.
    5. However, I was able to run the Hardware test from the system disk. It found no problems the several times I ran it.
    6. I was able to mount the drive using Target Disk mode. I then ran diagnostics on the harddrive. Fixed some things, but nothing major. Still won't boot.
    7. I tried the opposite approach and tried to run the machine using the other machine in Target mode. No luck.
    8. I downloaded firmware, created a disk per apple's instructions and tried to run it. No luck.
I think that is basically it. I've been able to backup all the data and was going to reformat the harddrive, although I don't see how that would work considering that the machine won't boot up from either a CD or another drive in Target Disk mode.
I'm thinking this machine is a goner. Any other ideas would be much appreciated.

Have you tried the diagnostics? Insert the original OS X Installer Disc One that came with the computer and restart the computer. After the chime press and hold down the "D" key until the diagnostic screen appears. Run extended diagnostics and not any error codes reported.
If you cannot boot into the diagnostics then take the computer in for service.

  • Apple Online Service Assistant

I recently used Apple's Online Service Assistant to order a replacement for my old headphones that came with my iPod (they were falling apart cosmetically). I received my replacement, and Apple received my old defective earphones. But Apple charged me $29. Why? It did not show $29 on any of the receipts I received. The way I understood it was, Apple would charge me $29 ONLY IF I did not return the defective product to Apple within 10 business days. But I returned the defective product well within 10 business days. Yet I was still charged $29, according to my recent credit card statement. If this was supposed to happen, I did not read anything that said Apple would charge me $29 even if I returned the product. The product was under Apple's Standard One Year Limited Warranty. Please explain to me how the Online Service Assistant really works, and if all this was supposed to happen.

Thanks alot for the help, guys.
Turns out Dave was right, I gave them a call last night and they agreed to send the replacement free of charge, as it was still under warranty. Preauthorization on the credit card is required not to cover for the cost of the call though, but as a guarantee that you're going to send back the faulty item as proof that it's malfunctioned. The preauth should drop off the card, once they receive the returned item and verify it's not working properly.
I wouldn't think Rogers or Fido would have anything to do with technical maintenance of the iPhone. After all, they are only the service providers for your phone plan, but should not be able to provide wide range of tech support for all the phones they offer. Such issues would generally be redirected to the manufacturer of the phone.
    Case closed. (-;

  • Black Curtain during Apple/Spinner startup

I've been struggling with this for a few days, watching posts in this forum and trying things out, but nothing seems to work.
Upon startup, my PB gets the "Black Curtain" error message after a few seconds into the grey Apple screen with the spinner. What's odd is that it does this whether it is starting up from the internal HD or my Leopard disk, and when I tried booting a second machine from the PB hard drive in FW Target mode, it got the same error, though not when loading from the Leopard DVD in the PB drive.
I've managed to get it to start up in "Safe Mode", and that seems like progress, and I can start it up from the DVD in Safe Mode, but that didn't seem to be a lot of help. On another post's recommendation, I tried deleting the boot kernel extension thingy, assuming it was corrupted, to no avail. Because I had everything backed up the night before this started happening (THANK YOU TIME MACHINE) I have no fears for the data on the PB, so I tried completely reformatting the disk while reinstalling Leopard from the DVD in safe mode.
What has all of this gotten me? An essentially virgin install of Leopard on an empty disk that gives me the same error I've been getting this entire time. I fear that this is the logic board giving out, but it doesn't seem like the right symptoms, and I'm trying to exhaust every possibility before going to the Apple Store and plunking down my $319.
    Any suggestions?

    Macgregor Justice:
I gather, from your description, that you refer to a Kernel Panic. If you do a search you will find plenty of reading material.
There are two basic causes of KPs: software and hardware. Theoretically the reformat should take care of the software angle, although the ability to boot in Safe Mode raises questions in my mind.
From the hardware angle, I would not jump to the conclusion that it is logic baord. The Airport card is a frequent offender, as is RAM. I suggest that you begin by booting from the Apple Hardware Test disk that came with your computer, and running all tests in a loop by holding down Command + L during the tests.
    Good luck.

  • Apple Gray Startup screen changes color before going to desktop.

    Hey guys,
Since I upgraded my macbook air to lion last summer, the startup is a tad slower because the gray screen with the apple logo changes from a blu-ish gray to a yellow-gray before going to the desktop.  I do not have this problem on my iMac.  Anybody have any answers?
    Thanks so much!

I find this topic kinda funny. several answers and NONE of you guys mention that the spinning wheel is supposed to be there and completly normal, it appears on every mac and I'm 100% certain it appeared on your mac before as well.
the spinning wheel is supposed to be there, it's nothing to worry about it's the regular OS X boot up working indicator. it even appears on the new macbook airs with flash storage built in, where boot up takes about ... 8 seconds or something.

  • Apple Works 6 Assistants (Address labels)

    Hi
I would like to use the address labels Assistant referred to in the AppleWorks help file but when I open Assistants there are only 4 options listed - not including address labels. When I spoke to Apple Support the person there could only find the 4 options on his machine and suggested that I make a data base file from scratch and take it from there. No doubt that would work but I thought the Assistant was meant to make it easier and should in any case be there?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)
    Sony Vaio VGNA-115B   Windows XP

    Hi Hasty,
Labels in AppleWorks are made from within the Database module. The Labels Assistant does not appear in Starting Points, but is activated by the New Labels Layout menu item in the Layout menu, which is visible when you have a DB document open.
If you are making labels for outgoing mail (ie. if the name and address are different on each label) you will need a database that contains the names and addresses to appear on each label.
If you are making return address labels (ie. every label will have the same name and address) you will still need a database document, with as many records as there are labels on the page you are using, but the DB needs only a single field, and the field does not have to contain any data.
You'll find a full set of instructions in Sharon Joiner's post in the User Tips library here:
