Apple TV stop sync with iTunes

I have 3 apple TVs, once in a while I get this Error
The Apple TV "XXXXXX" is not responding.
Check that any firewall software running on this computer has been set to allow communication on the port 3689.
but the other Apple TVs can sync
If I restart itunes, I can now see the content that Apple TV, but gives an error that it does not recognize the format: "This video cannot be played..... format is not compatible"
to solve the problem I have to restart the Apple TV wish it had a reboot menu item, instead of using the - and menu to reset, then restart).
make it very difficult for my kids or visitors using the Apple TVs.

You turned it off I assume on your computer or on your wireless access point?

  • Ipod touch stopped syncing with itunes since ios 5 upgrade

    Can someone PLEASE ADVISE ME!
I spent off and on 24 hours finally getting my ios 5 update on my ipod touch 4g. When i first upgraded itunes to 10.5, when I tried to upgrade to ios5 the udgrade kept crashing.  Then my ipod stopped syncing with itunes. Im on a PC with windows 7 (64-bit). So I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes.  My ipod coninues to not sync. So, I finally reverted my ipod back to factory settings and then it took like 8 hours total for my ipod to revert, update to ios 5, and then resync my apps, music & vids and settings with itunes. I thought YES EVERYTHING IS GREAT.  Starting using ios 5 and was loving it.  Till, i wanted to resync with itunes to enable wifi syncing.
Now, everytime i plug in my ipod, it says Syncing my ipod (step 2 of 8) and the stripy thing is moving...and below that it ways Backing up
but then it just keeps saying this for hours.  never moves beyond "step 2", So i end up having to open task manager and closing out itunes.  Then when i reopen itunes it will freeze up.  I uninstalled'reinstalled itunes now 4 times and the same thing happens...the sync never gets beyon step 2...backing up.
WHAT CAN I DO? please help! Desperate

ah now i see your reply in the thread.  well, i am sorry yours wont tuen on or even get recognized.  *** is going on with this stuff.  i really love the ios5 but if i cant sync with itunes im screwed. i dont want to have to pay for more iCloud storage for backing up either!!!
I really hope someone can advise me. Cuz i fear I may have to try and revert back to factory and spend like 6 or 7 hours again trying to resync and re set up my ipod

  • I have two iphones in my house hold one syncs with my MAC Itunes the other doesn't is there a setting that casues the Iphone to stops syncing with Itunes?

I have two iphones in my house hold one syncs with my MAC Itunes the other doesn't is there a setting that casues the Iphone to stops syncing with Itunes?

You need to start over with Music. On the iPhone Music screen uncheck sync music. Also, on the Summary screen uncheck "Manually manage music and videos", then sync and it should clear off your phone.
Next, choose the music you want to sync. If you want to fit more on check "Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC". This will reduce quality slightly, but it won't be noticable unless you are using $300 headphones.

  • Iphone stops syncing with itunes

    Hi there.
I recently upgraded to a new Macbook Pro (late 2010, no thunderbolt) and transferred the info from my old MBP to this one using the migration assistant which copied applications and data.
Now the only way I can get my iphone to sync with itunes is to delete itunes and reinstall it and after a day this stops working so I have to repeat the process. Its almost as if the computer is deleting the Applemobiledevice.pkg and reinstalling itunes reinstalls it.
The computer sees the phone when connected to iphoto and it appears in the system profiler.
    Any ideas?
I don't know if its relevant but I noticed yesterday that the Canon EOS software doesn't automatically load either when the camer is connected - like it used to.
    Many thanks.
    Michael

Yup! I have exactly the same problem but with iPhone 5 + iOS 7.0.4 + iTunes 11.1.4. I used to create a playlist of podcasts to listen to via the Music app in the car along with music playlists. I can still create the podcast playlist in iTunes and listen to them in iTunes but the playlist does not appear in Music in the phone. In Podcasts they are there although I also get the screenshots above but only on a random selection. There is no playlist facility in Podcasts so I have to pull the car over to move onto the next podcast. In other words the most useful facility for me (catching upon podcasts) in the car is no longer available. Congratulations Apple! I've heard there are 3rd party apps available but haven't found one yet.
Another backward step is the cackhanded procedure one now has to go through when syncing the phone with iTunes. Setting up a podcast playlist is dead simple. Now it is anything but simple. I can only presume that the guys who have worked on this change have never seriosly used an iPhone on the move.

Can anyone help with this problem please

    Hello, AndrewR2.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I would need clarification on this issue to provide a better answer.  However, it sounds like your computer may not recognize your iOS devices  I would recommend manually installing the Apple Mobile Device driver as outlined in the article below.  Start with the section labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 > If the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is not listed > Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8.

  • Apple TV not syncing with iTunes for purchased movies

Hi, I purchased two movies on iTunes and neither one is syncing with my Apple TV. All music is syncing perfectly fine.
The Apple TV is set to Custom Sync. On the movies tab of the Apple TV device in iTunes I have selected sync all movies since the two I am trying to sync are the only two I have purchased. When I click sync it takes about 15 seconds and then finishes with no additional files transferred. I have also tried changing the setting from sync all movies to sync selected with the two movies selected beneath. Neither works for me. Any ideas on why?
    I am using iTunes 8.2

in iTunes in the left hand panel under "Library" click on "Movies".. in the right hand list... find the movies that you bought. on far right of each row/item in the list is a checkbox... this checkbox must be checked or the movie will not sync... is that checkbox checked?

  • IPod touch 4g won't stop syncing with iTunes

I had a nearly 2 year old ipod touch 4g that when updated to ios 5, it froze...just days before the orginal warranty was about to expire.   apple store gave me a new ipod touch and they put ios 5 on it at the store.  when i got home and synced it to my itunes, everything copied fine...and the strange thing is...no matter how long i leave the ipod connected to my macbook pro (running lion), itunes always stays stuck on "copying step 6 of 6".  it NEVER stops copying.  here's the wierd thing, i can manually unplug the ipod touch and it seems fine....all the stuff is there.  but itunes never recognizes that it's done.  i've restored the ipod AGAIN...and it still gets stuck on 'step 6 of 6'.  i've left it synching overnight...and still, in the morning..'step 6 of 6'.  bizarre.  any one have ANY ideas on what's going on?  I also have a iphone 4 running ios 5 and do NOT have this same problem.

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

  • Apple TV NOT syncing with iTunes

I've had my Apple TV for a little over a year and I have synced it with my MacBook Pro a few times in the past. I recently move and reconnected all my media and computers and NOW I'm not able to connect to my Apple TV via iTunes. I've bought several new movies since my last sync and now I'm not able to back any of it up. What can I do to get itunes to recognize that I have a Apple TV. I've already tried to go thru preferences in itunes and click on AppleTV but nothing shows up. I also use an Airport Extreme for my internet and my Apple TV is connect to it via Ethernet cable. Please help!!!

have you tried a complete power cycle of your equipment ?
shut everything off for a while. then start the modem and let it run for a while. next, start the router and wait a little, followed by AX and TV. last startup your Mac. try again.
    any difference ?

  • Apple tv not syncing with iTunes on Mac or IPad

hi there. I have Apple TV 2. AirPlay with my IPad 2 and ATV won't work. And I can't sync ATV with my ITunes library on my Mac. I've worked out it's the routers fault. I need to open some ports, but I'm not sure how to do it. It's a Netgear DG834G. Any idea how to do it?

As a first step, make sure you have turned on Home Sharing in the TV and in iTunes and on the iPad.
In iTunes click Advanced/Turn on Home Sharing.
I can't help you with the Netgear.

  • Ipod Toch 4g won't sync with itunes, running Itunes v.10.2.1, 4.3.1ios

Please just give me a clue! Is anyone else having the same problem as me. Ok, Dell XPS Laptop running windows 7 home premium, 2 Terabyte Drives, 8 Gigs Ram, all windows updates installed, AntiVirus up-to-date, and no new programs installed since buying my ipod touch. I have had it for 2 weeks with no problems at all, then 2 days ago my ipod stopped syncing with itunes. Note: When I installed my ipod I had version 4.3ios and after it stopped syncing I checked my device summary and I noticed my software version was 4.3.1ios. My main two questions are: 1. Is this a problem with 4.3.1? 2. Is there any fix or workaround that anyone might know about? Any answers would be better than none, please help or give a little insight as I am new to owning an ipod as this is my first.
    Thank You

Thanks "lllaass," But it seems as though many win7 64 bit users are and have been having the same problem for over a year. Microsoft and Apple have not as of yet taken steps for a fix as they have been investigating the issue for well over a year. I am so sorry I bought an iPOD at this point, all included it's been $400 dollars out of pocket and hours of frustration and searching forums for answers. Apple just sold me a headache wrapped in sales hype. This is disappointing and I truly doubt I'd buy another Apple product again without THOROUGHLY investigating forums about the item. Lesson Learned! Best Reguards

  • PLEASE APPLE, GIVE US SYNCING VIA ITUNES BACK!!!!!! Why take away one of the most valuable features of iTunes???? Why take away our choice of syncing via the Cloud or locally with iTunes????

DO NOT UPGRADE TO MAVERICK UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE DEPENDED ON APPLE’S CLOUD. It removes the ability to sync Calendar, Notepad, and Contacts between your apple devices. You then can only sync them via Apple’s Cloud. For those of you like me, that do not want to be depended on an external data base accessible via the Internet or Cel Phone (with data charges).
Why do I not want to use the Cloud to sync and backup?
    1. I found I only have one device with me at a time or am sitting at a computer when I add to my calendar, make a note, or add/change a Contact. Syncing with iTunes while upgrading apps and doing a back up to two external hard drives worked great and met my needs.
    2. I use WiFi and pay for the minimum data plan with my Cel provider (AT&T). I do not want to pay higher monthly data fees.
    3. I do not like a central data base (that will be hacked someday) having the personal info I have in my Notes, Schedule, and Contacts.
    4. I like the security of my most important data being on my own hard drives and written off to Data DVD’s, not subject to even rare central system outages/failures.
    5. I do not like the prospect of becoming dependent on a Cloud in which the provider could decide at any time to either start selling information or charging monthly fees to recover the costs of providing the cloud.
I am reluctant to go to the trouble to go back to 10.8 because Apple will eventual stop providing updates to 10.8 and 10.8 compatible applications.
PLEASE APPLE, GIVE US SYNCING VIA ITUNES BACK!!!!!! Why take away one of the most valuable features of iTunes???? Why take away our choice of syncing via the Cloud or locally with iTunes????

You will need to contact Apple through their feedfack channel. These are user to user forums, sorry.
