Apple TV sync doesn't work properly?

Last night I set up my new Apple TV. I synced all the content from my iTunes and could quite happily watch/listen to everything whilst my laptop was on. When I turned the laptop off, however, all the content disappeared from my TV screen. I thought when you sync, everything was supposed to stay on the Apple TV so you could watch/listen without having the laptop switched on. However, this doesn't seem to work. Any tips?
For information: the content on my iTunes is less than the capacity of the Apple TV hard-drive. When I sync, the capacity bar for the Apple TV summary page on iTunes does not show any capacity on the Apple TV as having been used up.

Right, finally you get it! It's not meant to just stop - that's the problem! That fact that was pointed out at the beginning of this post: the synchronization process stopped unexpectedly.
I haven't seen any indication that such a capability is present either in the iTunes code or Apple TV's firmware...
Ok, whatever, you brilliant hacker you. Add a movie to your library in iTunes. Right after iTunes begins synching with the AppleTV, start playing a movie (any movie) on the AppleTV. Now read the message in iTunes that tells you synching has been suspended because the AppleTV is busy. Now stop playing the movie on the AppleTv and observe that iTunes automatically resumes the synching process for the movie you just added. Next, why not read your iTunes code and AppleTV firmware some more and tell me which lines of code are causing this.
I agree, either post something that is helpful or don't post.
I did post the solution that work for me, which was to restore the AppleTV to factory settings and re-register it with iTunes on my iBook. After doing so, the problem of the synch process stopping unexpectedly resolved. So far you have posted what you think is causing the problem, but haven't posted any solutions. You should follow your own advice.
Simply criticizing someone else's post without offering any useful help yourself is counterproductive.
I criticized your post because what you were saying was the cause of the problem didn't make sense. Why would you be able stream or synch *any* incompatible movie format? The original post said that the movie would stream, but not synch - therefore it's not the movie format that's causing the synch problem. Additionally, if it is a format that AppleTV can't decode, iTunes tells you that it wasn't synched because the movie can't be read by AppleTV; it doesn't just stop unexpectedly. Again, you should follow you own advice.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -

    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
    In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
    If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
    Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

    I dug out my old m105, put new batteries in and start it. On first launch it auto runs the alignment tool, and after touching all the points it goes to the main screen and works fine. No problem till here.
    Now, I plug it into my old computer which still has the palm software with my apps, and I run the sync operation (from the palm device sync manager, cause I lost my cradle and I'm connected via the serial cable), and it syncs fine BUT, here comes the problem, when it finishes the sync (successfully) the touch screen is all misaligned. I can't go back to the home screen or do anything useful.

    Let's help solve this mystery together! Is your screen freezing after every reboot? Is there any physical/liquid damage on the device? When did this issue begin? Did you notice this after a recent update or application download?

    sounds more like Bluetooth rather than moue, but w/o knowing w/o posting mac model type/year we... will... not... know... what you have
    All computers are personal computers, a PC though is also "non-Apple" in common usage.
    Mac also is platform and OS.
    Very confused reading what you are trying to tell us.

    Hi Guys,
    As the title suggests I am beyond aggrevated with Apple. But in the interest of healthy blood pressure and actually solving the problem; I will now continue with the problem at hand.
    I have through the years provided support for clients who own Apples, and I have through many years of frustration (due to illogical, broken and unnecessary Apple software functions) and oh so many forum visits solved their problems to their satisfaction.
    This one takes the cake however.
    My client recently broke the glass of his iPad (64Gig) and is now unable to navigate around. He did however buy an ipad mini(16Gig) for his son afterwards and now wants all the kiddie apps loaded onto his sons. I proposed that we perform a backup of his iPad in iTunes and then just restore to the iPad mini as some of his apps was bought in Mauritius and are nor available here for purchase.
    First problem:
    We can't restore the backup (45gig of which 30 gigs are pictures) because the iPad mini has too little space. No problem (or so I thought), let's just delete his photos after I manually backed them up. It turns out we cant delete the photos on his iPad (syncing doesnt work, nor can we manually remove them) because iTunes (he is running 10.6.8 and cannot upgrade further) doesn't provide the function of deleting things, and like I just said the syncing doesn't work. This after trying EVERY solution and workaround presented in the forums.
    Second Problem:
    This would all have been easily solved if we could just do a memory upgrade on the mini. But Apple has seen fit to force their clients to go out and buy BRAND NEW iPad's if they want a small ram upgrade.
    Third problem:
    I tried the syncing seperately via iPhoto and guess what? After about 4 hours of waiting around for it to syncronize it did Jack Diddly Squat.
    Can anyone that maybe has had the same problem provide a solution?
    For those PR agents out there who actually care, just make things simple. People WANT simple. I'm done with punting your low quality products though.

    you can import ALL those photos into iphoto. Then EXPORT them to a large capacity hard drive. Then sort through the photos and sync em to the other ipad.
    When you export movies then make sure you choose ORIGINAL not JPEG.

    Hi all, I'm PHP programmer, and i have some questions in my area. I have 3 Apple computers (MacBook Air, MacBook and MacBook Pro). There is one site, made by our group, that doesn't work properly on my MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, while other sites work excellent on that 2 computers. And what is more interesting, site, that doesn't work on my MacBook Pro and Air, WORKS on my windows computer, and WORKS on my MacBook. I tried to use this site from different internet provider, but problem was steel actual. I asked 2 of my friends to try this site on their MacBooks Pro - the same (it doesn't work properly, links don't open), but any other computer (under windows, or iPad, or my Macbook) can work with this site excellent. Can anybody help with this? Are there any specifications in program code to MacBook Air work with that site also excellent?

    Hello.. so yeah ever since I updated to Mavericks, Outlook from Microsoft Office 2011 doesn's work properly. I don't want to be deleting and installing MO again because my friend did it for me and I don't know all the registration details to prove it's legit or something and I don't want stuff deleted.     Am I the only one whose iTunes doesn't work properly in Win 7? I open iTunes and few seconds later it closes itself because Windows finds some problems. I've already reinstalled the whole program but this problem still stands.

    Have you tried any troubleshooting steps, like resetting you iPhone, for example?  Or restoring it?
    If not by all means do so because your problem could be caused by software glitches that could be solved resetting or restoring.
    Warranty is for one year from date of purchase and two years if you bought Apple Care at the time of purchase. If your iPhone has a hardware issue within warranty, it would be replaced by Apple.  If it is already out of warranty, you might be eligible for an out of warranty replacement where you pay a much lower amount but this varies according to the country and currency, so it is better to check with Apple or with an authorized reseller.

    Please don't use all caps, it is considered shouting. No this may well not be an ebay problem, but it is not a Safari issue either, it is an issue on your Safari and on your computer. Everyone I know has no trouble with ebay at all. In fact Safari 4.0.4 has made it even faster to log in and browse, buy etc.

    Again, tell Apple, not us, through the Apple feedback page or file a bug report. They will update Safari if and when they decide, but it will not be to fix what is not broken.

    I agree, as stated before that some sites are just lazy in updating their coding, usually not the high traffic sites though. Other sites only update their code for Windows IE and forget the rest of the world. Firefox, Opera, Camino etc. also can't access some sites.
    So in conclusion, try Safari and OSX maintenance and if that fails, then try an archive and install. Because there is nothing wrong with Safari 4.0.4 and ebay, or else this forum would be inundated with thousands upon thousands of users complaining and that is not the case.
