Apple TV turns on
Hi Winston
Can you tell me how to fix a issue ? Every since I bought my apple tv, time to time, I see that the apple Tv is on by itself. First I thought it was related with the sync process with iTunes, but then I discarded this, because I tested a sync with apple tv off and that remained off after it finished sync.

I have noticed this too on my in-laws' TV. I put a high-rated switch on their power cord, so now they can force it off. :-D
My parents got an TV last week, so I'll see it theirs turns on automagically too.

from the information you provided i can't tell if it is a hardware problem or a software problem. I do have an idea though, try to press your home button and lock button at the same time.

Mac pro running OS 10.5.8 won't boot. Apple logo and spinning wheel shows then Apple logo turns into Forbidden signage while spinning wheel continue. It happenened right after I installed a firmware. Had to restart.Please help. What can I do?

Check USB connections
If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
Common errors: 13, 14, 1600-1629, 1643-1650, 2000-2009, 4000, 4005, 4013, 4014, 4016, “invalid response”, and being prompted to restore again after a restore completes.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you see your error after changing your USB connections, continue to the next section to troubleshoot your hardware.

I think you are referring to "sleep". Apparently upgrade "knows better" what you want and overwrites your settings. This common with arrogant programmers who do not test their software properly.
If you ar referring to "sleep" then please go to Settings->General->Sleep After and change to "Never" or any number of hours available. -
i just got a new apple tv but for some reason the remote only worked for about a min. and than it wount work at all. i tried to pair and unpair but nathing works but when i press a button the light on the apple tv turns off. what should i do?
Have you held the menu and left arrow together for 6 secs ? (I think you have from what you say).
Also try unpowering and restarting AppleTV.

Why did my Apple logo turn blue at start up?
At start up, the Apple logo turned blue (originally gray). The outline of the logo also became pixelated, containing the colors red, green, yellow, etc.
I also have this problem where whenever I am using an application (during the first hour after start up) they would deactivate during the first five seconds of use. I would have to constantly click the application to reactivate it. I've had the apple tv 2 since the week it came out and haven't had much trouble with it until now. I haven't changed anything with my network settings. I have noticed the apple tv light seems to turn on at random times now when not being used. Now just about every time I try to access my iTunes library I get "To access your itunes on apple tv, turn on home sharing in itunes on your computer using (my account name)". My iTunes library is not listed. If I restart iTunes my computer with iTunes open will now be listed but when I select it it tries to connect them errors out. If I restart the computer then everything works fine. That is until next time I try to connect and I have to do it all over again. I don't want to have to restart my computer every time I use the apple tv. Any idea why this just started happening? Everything has worked until now. Bug in the latest iTunes maybe?
Thanks.Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. -

I have an iMac from 2008. When I start I get gray screen with apple and turning gear. Next blue screen. Then light blue screen with turning gear. Back to blue screen. Now just back and forth blue to light blur
Reinstall OS X:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
Do the following:
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/.
Reinstalling Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer. -
I got a new computer. Apple TV states "to access your itunes on apple TV, turn on home sharing using.. I have done this. Still does not work. Can anyone advise me on why - it was all working great before i switched computers

Since about a week my Apple TV turns off randomly. Just turns off and on, but of course you have to wait until turn on again and then pick up the show/movie were you left it. Very very annoying

Well, you may try reset and restore (to factory setting + download latest firmware) your ATV. Of course, you need to reconfigure the box after it restarts. -

I've done all of the above but I'm still displaying the message: to access your iTunes library on Apple TV, turn on home sharing in iTunes on your computer using ....... My home sharing is on ???? Confused, I've restarted and reset Apple TV with no change

Follow the Account management options until you are offered and email contact.
Explain the issue via email as only someone in Support can now remove your iPhone Number from iMessages if it has not "de-registered" itself correctly.
