Apple TV, TV Shows, and iTunes
When I purchase TV shows, they sync to Apple TV. Unwatched shows are marked with a blue dot, watched shows aren't.
From time to time, watched shows disappear from the ATV menu, I assume because new content "bumps" them off.
But, most of the time, they disappear from the iTunes "TV Shows" playlist as well. They are still in the iTunes Music Folder, in ~/Music/iTunesMusic/TV Shows, but they can't be watched again on ATV.
How can I organize my iTunes playlist "TV Shows" so that my purchased content stays there? And how can I control the sync process so that the shows I want on ATV are the ones that sync?

if they are purchased on itunes then appletv can't delete them from your itunes library. it only has access to sync the content to itself and delete it from itself. the content would still be on your pc/mac itunes.
if you purchased them on appletv then you have a little "delete" icon next to them. clicking that will delete the content from both.
if you are saying your appletv is physically deleting content from your itunes library (and by that i mean deleting the file from the HDD and not just removing it from a playlist), then you having something seriously wrong somewhere.

You can call AppleCare and request a replacement set of the original DVD's that shipped with the computer for a nominal charge. You will need the serial number (look on the bottom of the stand) and a credit card. Click the AppleCare Contact Info link. Without knowing which iMac you have it's very difficult to say if a new SL disc would work or not.

I have just installed the new version of itune (11.1) and it keeps coming up with this message. "itunes requires a newer version of apple mobile device support. Please uninstall both apple mobile device support and itunes and then reinstall itunes." I have done this step 3 times, while following the support steps on how to fully remove all itunes and related programs. I keep getting the same issue.
Also, my computer recognizes my phone but itunes wont. When I try to do a driver update according to the support page it keeps telling me that "The folder specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with windows x64- based systems." On the support page it also suggests trying an alternate folder (program files(x86)/common files/ apple/ mobile device software/ drivers) That doesn't work either.
I am getting extremely frustrated.... Can someone PLEASE help!!!!

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe, and select "Extract to iTunesSetup". WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup".
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does an iTunes install go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.) -
I've unchecked the boxes for apple e-mails (news and iTunes offers) after following the link at the bottom of a marketing e-mail from Apple.
Unfortunately I still get marketing info which I don't want. What else can I do to stop the spam?The e-mail checks out as having come from an IP address registered to Apple.

The sender address wasn't spoofed and all the links in the mail lead to legitimate apple web sites. (It was an advert for a MacBook Air christmas special). There was a link at the bottom of the e-mail which takes me to the Apple 'manage your e-mails' page.

On this page there are check boxes for the various Apple news and iTunes marketing e-mails, and the option to change my e-mail address. The boxes are not checked but I still get marketing e-mails. -
iPad 2 froze while updating iOS 7.0.4. When connected to PC & iTunes get the message in recovery mode, must restore. I have followed the steps to restore and still have the iTunes screen showing and iTunes still does not recognize device.

Purchased movies on Apple TV not showing in iTunes
I have video (purchased TV shows and video made in iMove) and purchased movies on an Apple TV (gen 1). In iTunes, I can see the audio recordings and both purchase and home made video but NOT the purchased movies. I really hate to purchase movies and place it on a hard drive I cannot back up.
1) Why can I not see the purchased movies?
2) Is there a way to back up the hard drive on Apple TV other than through iTunes?Why can I not see the purchased movies?
Because they're not in the iTunes library. Control-click the Apple TV in iTunes and choose Transfer Purchases.

I was curious as to why, when I received my "Welcome to iPod and iTunes" email (after registering my Ipod Nano), the email shows 3 different serial numbers...
I only bought 1.
Just wondering...You can check your Junk/Spam folders, sometimes the e-mail gets sent there. Also, double check that the primary e-mail address in your Apple ID account is hers. If none of this works, I suggest to wait it out, sometimes it can take up to 24 hours!

Using Touch ID for App store when you have seperate Apple IDs for iCloud and iTunes
My wife and I each have a new iPhone 5S. We share the same Apple ID for iTunes and the App Store.
In addition, we each have our own unique Apple IDs for iCloud. This enables us to use iMessage to text to each other.
Can the iPhone 5S be setup to use the Touch ID for iTunes and App store purchases when there are separate iCloud and iTunes ID on the same phone?
Currently, I can unlock my phone using the Touch ID, but the App store requests me to type the password to my wife's and my shared Apple ID whenever I wish to buy an app. I am not given the option to use the Touch ID.
I do have both the iPhone Unlock and iTunes & App Store set to "on" here: Settings > General > Touch ID & Passcode > Touch ID
How can I use my current setup so I can approve App Store purchases with the Touch ID?This is the screen that pops up when I attempt to purchase an app. It does not allow me to use my Touch ID.

Downloaded 8.1.3 and my 4s iPhone shows and iTunes logo and 30 pin connector
I can't open my I phone 4s after the download. I just get the screen with the iTunes logo and a 30 pin connected with an arrow pointing to the iTunes logo. I held down the button on top of the iPhone and the screen turns black. The Apple logo shows up a few seconds later and then the screen goes black again. How can I get my backup out of the " cloud" so I can restart my I phone. This happened several years ago with an up date. I have a factory unlocked iPhone with t-mobile cellular. could this be the problem? Before the update my iPhone showed "no service" for cell on the top left of my screen. My question is, will I have to reset to phone?

Max resolution and format for Apple TV from imovie and itunes
I use iMovie '09 to make movies from my HD 1920x1080P camera that I SHARE to mobile me, itunes and for use on Apple TV via itunes.
I am trying to figure out the max resolutions and formats.
If I SHARE from imovie with 960x540 it goes right into itunes and shows as an HD movie on the Apple TV
If i export from imovie in 1280x720p i can drag into and play from itunes however it doesnt show up on the Apple TV? i thought the apple TV supported 720p? is the format wrong? when you export it comes out as .mov and when you SHARE it comes out as .mp4?I have been struggling with this for some time. We have great HD cameras, and fairly capable consumer grade video editing capability with iMovie; but we have limited HD viewing opportunities other than a computer.
Apple TV does play it in 720p provided you meet the specs below - perhaps your 720p movie exceeded these specs. You see, there is 720p, and then there is 720p with serious Mbps.
At least for me, when I export at 720p @ 5Mbps the viewing is jittery and not smooth. I guess it is too much processing, although it seems to work fine when it is a downloaded movie in HD, just not an iMovie production.
So, I just use the 960x540, which is clear and smooth, and wait for the day an improved Apple TV hits the market with the processing power to smoothly handle 720p and beyond. I have a big (100") screen, so I can use all the resolution I can get to keep that large of an image sharp.
The alternative is to use a Mac mini and route through HDMI to your TV. That does a good job but is more expensive (triple) the ATV.
