Apple TV Unable to recognize Home PC (Home Sharing)
Before it would take no more than a minute for my Apple TV to see my computer if either iTines or Apple TV had just booted. Now my Apple TV never sees my computer, Not in "Home Sharring" app nor from Settings -> Computers on Apple TV.
My Setup is as follows:
Win 7 PC
Firewall Disabled
iTunes 10.7.0.21
3rd-Gen Apple TV (5.1)
Wireless Connection
Linksys E4200 Router
2.4GHz/5Ghz Modes
I've tried rebotting computer, toggling "Turn On/Off Home Sharing (accountName)" from Advanced dropdown in iTunes, changing between 2.4 and 5GHz bandiwdths on both PC and Apple TV, rebooting router, rebooting Apple TV, restarting "Bonjour" Windows Service, upgrading router firmware.
The only thing I could think of that's changed recently from my Setup is that I've ran Spybot's "Immunize" feature, nothing else comes to mind past that.
Is there anything else I can try with my Apple TV, computer, or router?
Yes. 5.1 is the latest and my Apple TV claims I have the latest version

I have turned on home shareing on both imac & apple tv but apple tv won't recognize my imac. the display just says turn on home shareing.
I managed to get to work once after I downloaded the latest version. It picks up the network ok, movies and music work fine.if firewall in router or on the computer is not letting the shared lib be avaible then you need to change that

Hi, I'm having trouble with my Ipad 2. I was recently playing a game and my ipad just shut off on me. Then when I turned it back on it was stuck on the Apple Logo and it won't go to the home screen at all. I plugged it in my itunes but I don't know what to do from there. I left it charged hoping the apple logo would dissappear but it didn't and now for some reason the battery is always dead. I really need help. Does anybody have any suggestions? Please.
Did you try rebooting the iPad? You will need to have some battery power for this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

My iPhone 4S on iOS7 is stuck on Apple Logo, and it goes off, then back to Apple Logo again for hours. Pressing home button together with sleep button does not help. Plugging the phone to Mac and restart does not help either. What do I do?

Thank you for your help in advance.Restore iPhone with iTunes on computer. Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer with USB cable. Hold both Home and Power buttons until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode, usually about 20 seconds time of holding both buttons. Click the Update or Restore button that iTunes offers.

Start with the simple things. Reboot your router by removing all power for 15-30 seconds. Then, as Knells suggests, reset the phone by holding the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears. Plan C is Settings/General/Reset - Reset Network Settings. None of these will cause data loss, but the last one will erase your WiFi passwords.

Did you do a full power cycle of both computer and phone?
Sorry but for phones I have no clue.. but I did find it failed to connect at times and you need to clear out all the old names.. full power off and on again and things suddenly start working.
Laptop can be same.. but apple has specific hardware testing available.
Look at doing tests.. or take them to an apple store and get both tested.
Is there other device still working fine on the home wifi.. have you power cycled that as well. -
My 2nd Gen iPod is "unable to connect" to our home network.
I recently purchased a 2nd Gen iPod touch, but when I try connecting it to out home wi-fi network, I encounter a problem.
The wi-fi screen opens fine, and allows me to select our network. I enter the password - and then I have a problem. I've double- and triple-checked the password, and I know I have the correct code. But when I enter the code, my iPod comes up with a message that tells me it is "unable to connect" to our home network.
I've looked at other posts, and checked the troubleshoot tips for wi-fi connectivity. Nothing has worked.
Our network router is plugged in, and functioning. Every other device in the house can connect, and access the internet. My iPod is the only one encountering an issue. After unplugging and reconnecting the router, and reseting the router and the iPod's network controls, I have literally no idea what to try now.

But I also have a 2nd gen touch and when I have trouble with it...this may sound stupid but I go into WiFi in settings and turn off wifi. I then force restart by holding down the home and power buttons until the screen goes black and you see the apple logo again., then release. When it turns back on turn wifi back on and try to connect

After installing IOS 5.1, I am unable to double click the home button and access the camera. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Does a fix or work aroud exist?
I just updated--my Camera is a disaster. Yes, I know how to turn (and position) the Camera now. However, every photo I take is UPSIDE DOWN in the Camera Roll OR Photo Stream. Even worse, a number of my Apps (Weather Underground, for example) are ALSO now upside down. Has anyone here experienced these serious orientation problems after this update? I've read the 'Manual' and its as if it doesn't exist. However, if I leave the Apple site, customer complaints about orientation abound...

If I have to load the same apple id on all devices to use home share, does that preclude each device from using a second apple id and does that constitute a separate Itunes db or something?

Only one of your libraries needs to use your iTunes Store Apple ID for home sharing. Your other computers can use their own ID for iTunes, so long as they use the same ID as all of the devices on the network for home sharing. -
I have an apple tv 3 but when i use Home Sharing from my Windows Laptop the Apple TV shows all my music on the TV but it will only play 1 or 2 songs and then stops!!! Annoying, so I have to re-start iTunes on my Laptop and it will play 1 or 2 more songs then stops again!!! still annoying.
Can anyone assist me with this issue?

Next, plug the Apple TV into your computer with a micro-usb cable (most phones today use these) and start up Itunes. It should detect the Apple TV in recovery.
After that, hold down Option on Apple or Alt on Windows and click Restore. This should open a window that allows you to select the software update you want to apply. Select the one you downloaded earlier.
It will then go through the restore process, which takes only a few minutes, and then you will be able to plug the Apple TV back in to your display and set it up again.
I recently ran into a similar issue with a bunch of these things and after restoring them all to the previous software version they are working again. -
I have an apple id for my ipod touch at home. My company is planning to issuing Ipads. Should I use the same apple id on the ipad for those apps I purchase and would like to use on my work ipad?
Yes, otherwise you will have to pay for those apps again. If an app is purchased by one Apple ID, he/she will be able to redownload it again for no cost (note: this does apply to songs, but NOT to movies).

I have never previously had any problems with Home Sharing, I have always found it to be completely reliable as advertised. I have 2 computers in the house, (one MacBook and one Windows Desktop) connected to the same Home Sharing account, connected to the same BT Home Hub 4. My situation is that I have nearly 2TB of data of which I would like to share with the home wirelessly, in my mind the desktop is the logical place for this to be shared from.
When running, iTunes on this desktop broadcasts to other iTunes libraries, but no other iOS devices or Apple TV's connected to the same Home Sharing account cannot see it.
I have tried turning Home Sharing off, and then turning it back on, closing iTunes, restarting the computer, going to Network and Sharing Centre and unticking IPv6 in the network adapter properties, even completely wiping the computer and reinstalling Windows 7.
One of the Apple TV's in the house was recently purchased by my parents with the promise from me that everything would work seamlessly... so far it isn't and I am frustrated that the Apple technology that I have come to rely on isn't working as expected.
One thing that has occurred to me upon writing this is that it is a very large amount of data, and I have not attempted to share this with another computer that is currently working and broadcasting it's Home Share fine.
I am sorry if I have ommitted any important details, any further questions don't hesitate to ask. I would be so grateful of any suggestions, my parents are depending on me.I have found with AppleTV that it is the IPV6 on the computer you want to access is the problem. The issue is that Homegroup on Win 7 or Win 8 requires IPV6 to work, but AppleTV won't work with IPV6. (So maybe double check you have IPV6 turned off)
So you have to make a choice - Homegroup or AppleTV.... but you can't have both, until Apple brings ATV up to date. (crazy that it does not recognise IPV6 - c'mon Apple!)
You can set up sharing individually in Win 7 or 8 and have the ATV access files that way.
Having said that, there is always the exception.. I have an old HP home server running Win8 and it services ATV - but is part of the Homegroup... have no idea why it works on both, but no other machine on the home network will talk to both ATV and Homegroup at the same time!
