Apple TV unit dead?

Attempting to view a rental movie from Itunes store. Was able to view the movie trailer fine. After inputing cc code , I lost all video and audio from HDTV, Verizon Fios, Marantz A/V reciever and Apple tv. I unplugged all componants, now have restored all except Apple TV.
Apple tv unit shows a steady green front panal light, however, I cannot view anything. No menu. When any button on the Apple remote is pressed, the green light will turn off then on. Any ideas before I return the appleTV to Apple?

Your Apple TV may have become paired with another remote. Hold the remote close to and pointed at the Apple TV, hold down the menu and Rewind buttons together for 6 seconds or until you see a broken chain icon on screen.

Apple TV is designed to display content on a single TV only. Although it has component and HDMI outputs they are not independent and, as has been pointed out already, HDMI will take precedence over the component video.
You will need two Apple TVs, one for each TV, and you can then sync both with one computer either with the same content or with different content selected from a common library in iTunes..

I don't understand the ONE AT A TIME lament, as it's pretty easy to email more than one at a time. Have you tried to and been unable or didn't know that you could?
As for no one receiving, well .... first, review how you're trying to do it and, as a check, email some to yourself. That will be a good first check.

Control multiple apple tv units with 1 remote app

Is it possible to control multiple apple TV units with 1 remote app on an iPhone/iPad? I have apple tv at home, set up under my own personal apple id. I have an apple tv unit at work which I want to use, but that uses our work apple id. can I control both units without having to log out of my personal id and then log into the work one?

On the ATV menu itself there is an option to name the ATV.

HT3180 My Apple TV keeps showing on the TV screen a white cable coming from the Apple TV to ITunes. There is nothing at all coming from the Apple TV unit itself - no flashing light, nothing. We have connected to the Apple computer - no success.

My Apple TV has been working perfectly until last night. It now shows on the TV screen a white cable going from I Tunes to the back of the Apple TV. When we connected this to the computer using a micro cable the Apple TV isn't showing anywhere on the ITunes sight. When a search is done it doesn't come up at all. It's as if the Apple TV is dead. Not sure what to do as this was the last attempt at restoring its settings as per instructions.

Did you follow the steps exactly? Removing all cables, then connecting via micro usb. If you have a 3rd gen device you need to connect the power following micro usb.

It's a little speculative until Apple release a fix or more users find the same issue, if your Wifi is OK it may be worth switching it back to that since the issue above seems to be on ethernet only.
You could also use wifi diagnostics to see if the wifi using channels that overlap with other devices.

Whatever the 'router issue' is you need to either resolve it or try another router. You can't know if the Apple TV is faulty if the supporting network is not working correctly.

Exchange program for older Apple TV units

My wife and I are proud owners of multiple Apple TV units for several years now and have always highly recommended them to friends and family as a means for watching content on existing TV sets. To our disappointment—especially with my kids—we recently discovered that YouTube functionality has been removed from all prior generations of Apple TV units. This is quite upsetting as viewing YouTube content on our TVs was a major benefit to Apple TV ownership. We now face an unfortunate decision of whether to purchase replacement devices. We hate the idea of shelling out more money just so we can gain back functionality that was taken away from existing purchases.
Can I visit my local Apple Store and exchange our current Apple TV units for newer ones?
Also, what's to stop other channels/apps from being discontinued in the future?

Unfortunately, there is no such exchange program available to you. I know it probably won't alleviate all your displeasure at the current situation, but as I understand it, it is Google that have made the decision not to support this old app and there is little that Apple can do about this.

You need OS X 10.7.5 or later. Most likely you can upgrade OS X on your iMac. You already have 10.6.8 and access to the App Store. If your computer qualifies to run Mavericks, then that is what you would upgrade to, otherwise, you would upgrade to Lion.
Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.

Can i connect two tv's to a single apple tv unit?

My hdtv's are uniquely located in same area of house, only 1 in basement/family room the other in the living room. I have a hole in the floor, behind the living room tv, already running wires between the two. The wire length is less than 20 feet. Now, I have two separate receivers for both tv's. Is it possible to connect one receiver using the HDMI and the other using component video cables and optical/coax audio. I definitely can place the apple tv box in a central location to achieve this. This would enable the purchase of only one apple tv unit for both home entertainment systems.

AC is corret you can do that. It might work a bit better for you if you use a wired connection vs a wireless one for the ATV's.

I'm having the same issue on Apple TV 3. I can play the content on my computer, iphone or iPad but I can't on my Apple TV. I just bought Guardians of the Galaxy via my Apple TV and the purchase went through but when I try to play the content I get this error. However I tried renting a movie and guess what? I can play rentals just fine. This is only effecting Apple TV. Not just movies though, I can't play my iTunes music either. This is BS it's been going on for days now. Tried resetting the appletv to factory defaults and reconfiguring it and nothing.
I Want acknowledgement from apple that there is an issue and they are working to resolve It.
it's a shame, since Steve Jobs passed I've noticed a decline in the quality of work that Apple does. Not a fan of the Post-Steve Jobs UI's that seem to be only half thought-through either. Why do I enter a URL in what appears to be a raised button in Safari on Yosemite?
Apple better tighten their **** back up or soon the quality will be more on par with what you would expect from Windows or a PC.
