Apple TV via iTunes

I'm profoundly Deaf and I'm wanting to buy an Apple TV I have one question before I actually buy it..
The TV programmes, movies (both buy and rental) do they all offer subtitles or captions?

Ah that clears the fog a bit however since I'm in New Zealand, and I cannot buy TV shows on the NZ site. I'm keen on buying or hiring movies, how do I know if a movie has subtitles? - As it isnt on the description part?
Am I making sense here? - Its like actually going into a DVD store and picking a DVD cover but looking at the back to ensure it has subtitles.. Nowdays, 25% will have subtitles

Adding Movies to Apple Tv via iTunes Problems !

    I recently purchased an Apple TV, I am trying to Rip some of my DVD's and put them into iTunes. I have done it with a few DVD's using Handbreak to convert the movies to the proper format and it worked great ! The problem is after doing this to a few movies, now my system is very slow, I keep getting the Spinning Ball in iTunes when I go into " Get Info " to change a few things ( Add Artwork or Clean up the title ) and then I have to force quit iTunes, because it stops responding, When I view my Activity Monitor, I see that " Kernel_task is using 837.9 MB of Memory and Handbreak is right behind with 656.3 MB of Memory.
    Other problems that I am having is when I put a movie in iTunes it either wont play at all, plays all black or plays with no sound, but if I open the file from my Desktop Quick Time will play it just fine ?
    I ran Disk Utility from the start up disk ( restart and use command R ) the disk was fine, but there was a lot of permissions that need to be repaired, which I did.
   iMac 2.7 w/ i5
    OSX 10.9.1
    12 GB Ram
    1T Mac Hd with 363 GB free
   1T external HD that I use for Time Machine with 17 GB Free.
    Apple TV 3
    iTunes 11.1.3
This is more of an iTunes question, but I am thinking maybe others who use ATV may have had a similar problem and found a fix.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

This is not an ATV problem and frankly is treading on very shakey if not illegal grounds.
Discussion of ripping DVDs is seriously frowned upon in these forums.
I would suggest looking elsewhere for issues with ripping.
For issues with importing media and getting it to work in iTunes, post to the appropriate forum.

Can I access playlists on my Apple TV via iTunes in the Cloud without iTunes Match?

No, as iTunes Match puts your full library in the cloud. Otherwise it is simply just the purchased music. The playlists reside in your local library.

Can i use my computer speakers while watching a movie on apple tv via iTunes?

I have a Boss desktop speaker system that i have connected to my Macbook pro, i was just wondering if i watch a movie from my Itunes library via Apple TV2 can i use the computer sound instead of the TV speakers? It looks like the answer is to log out of iTunes and then back in. That allowed Rentals to show up in my Movies Library. I rebooted about three times which didn't work. I closed the application and restarted it many times which didn't work.
The solution was to log out of my username and then back in. That worked.

How are photos accessed from Apple TV via itunes

I seem to be missing something. Having configured Apple TV (newest generation) and iTunes 10.0.5 on my iMac (10.8.4) for home sharing, (almost everything) works fine besides one thing: When it comes to photos, my iPhoto (9.4.3) libraries are accessed sort of randomly. Sometimes I can't access "albums", sometimes only the "photos" section of the library. Maybe the reason is that I could not do an important configuration. The Apple TV manual says: 'Make sure the photos you want to share are selected. In iTunes choose Advanced > "Choose Photos to share," and then select the photos you want to share.' But I can't find an option like that on my iTunes (German version, though).
Could someone explain the underlying mechanism to me and tell me what to do, please.

OK. Homesharing settings have moved in that case, you can now find them in the File menu, rather than the advanced menu.

Unable to reset 3rd gen Apple TV via iTunes

3rd Gen Apple TV started flashing. Screen is completely black, so plugged in to computer at present as Apple suggests, but there is nothing on iTunes as shown to allow me to reset the Apple TV. Any suggestions?

Did you follow the steps? Unplug all cables, connect micro usb, then power.

Make sure you are connecting directly to computer, not a keyboard or USB hub. Try a different cable

Error (-3212) cannot access the apple store via itunes

I'm not a machead, but my daughter is and she is struggling to use iTunes on our 4 year old HP desktop. I tried to figure it out, unsuccessfully. I subsequently spent about two hours - getting thru to, transferred around and disconnected, back and forth - and finally speaking to some fellow half way around the globe at the Apple Support Line. He asked me a few basic questions and suggested that I uninstall all of the apple software as well as Quicktime, and install the newewst version. Spent another hour messing with that and a couple of restarts later - It's the same.
iTunes works fine, as it did before. But when you click on the iTunes Store, I get this error message "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. An unknown error occured (-3212). Make sure your network connection is active and try again"
The connection is fine - Qwest DSL - very quick!
I walked thruough the recommendations from the help menu - to no avail!
Any suggestions?

You don't use Airplay. You set up Home Sharing on both and under the Computers section of AppleTV you'll then find it under Movies (or Rentals if rented), assuming it's in a compatible format.
