Apple TV Wi-fi problems

I have Apple TV 3. The first month I had it, I had no problems. But some time around update 6.1 I started getting "An error occurred loading this content" message during videos. Sometimes it says my Apple TV is not connected to network. And sometimes it just goes back to home without any errors.
When I use ethernet connection no errors occur. But it can't be a permanent option for me. So I have to figure out the wi-fi problems.
Today I tried connecting both my Macbook and Apple TV to Personal Hotspot connection on my iPhone. I had no issues then either. So it shows that I have a problem with the wireless connection on my router.
But I'm not sure what has changed since the first month that I had no problems. Tried changing channels but it didn't help. Router place hasn't changed. Tried power cycles, reboot, restart, restore (also restore on iTunes), going back to factory settings on router. None of them helped. Both devices have latest firmwares.
Not sure what to do next. Any ideas?

I have an Apple TV Gen 3 (Rev 2) that I bought 8/2013, that had just stopped connecting to the wifi network yesterday. I followed the instructions laid out for troubleshooting in the Apple TV Support website (reset, restart, upgrade the software, and got new router) and none of them worked. Then, I found out that Apple offered some king of a "Replacement Program" on some of the Apple TV Gen 3 models last year. Unfortunately, the model I have (look at the bottom of the unit - warning, you likely will need a magnifying glass to see it) was not listed in the models specified (see this thread Apple TV (3rd generation): Replacement program).
The Replacement Program was initiated on April 2013. The model I had was a later model (8/2013.)  I would think that they would have fixed this problem by then! Of course the wifi broke right after the warranty had expired - like always! Brought it to Apple Store/Service center today, to the "Genius Bar" people or whatever they want to call themselves (barely true), made me wait for over 2 hours and said the same thing that I already know. They didn't make any considerations about the fact that my model was a later model although not in the list made last April 2013. Then, they want me to pay $59 to get it replaced. Apple wants my money again and will not get a cent from me on this one.

    Owning 2 iphones with one Apple account has = Sync Problems.  iTunes is thinking my old iphone 4 is the same phone as my iphone 5C.  When I plugged in my iphone 5C it auto synced my 5C to iTunes and it wiped my 5C and restored it to the same content as is on my iPhone 4.  This is a big problem since my 5 year old has been using the iPhone 4.  It's all Mickey Mouse and Backyardigans.  (Total photo/app/contacts loss)
    I was able to update the 5C and restore from a 3 month old backup that is actually the content from the 5C but now when I plug in my 5C it wants to "setup as new phone" or "restore from backup"  What's going on?  I'm afraid to choose either option.
    How can I get iTunes to see these devices as 2 and not one?
    Can I use my Apple ID on both phones still or is this the problem?

    They were both displaying the same name in iTunes.  I changed the name of the iPhone 4 before the 5C was plugged in but it still went ahead with syncing it to the 4's data.

    Which TV do you have.
    You may wish to try the following:
    Press and hold the menu and the up button simultaneously on the remote for six seconds, the Apple TV should then begin to cycle through the various resolutions available to it at 20 second intervals.. If you see a picture appear up on your screen, use the remote to scroll down to the OK option and select it.

    How is your iPod configured to sync content from your iTunes library? Any error messages during the sync process? 
    You may want to reset warnings on the device by right->clicking on it under Devices and choosing Reset Warnings.  Then resync the iPod to see if any alerts appear.
    Is this the same computer you normally sync the Nano with?

    Tell your wife to get her own Apple ID. If you do not want continuity/handoff to work with calls, on both devicesgo to Settings==>>FaceTime==>> Turn OFF iPhone cellular calls.

    My web page uses a Java Applet to allow my visitors to replay chess games; the Chess Viewer Deluxe applet was written by Nikolai Pilafov some time ago and has been working properly for some time (until recently). I don't monitor this part of my site regularly so I am not sure when it began to fail. On his web site [http://chesstuff.blogspot.com/2008/11/chess-viewer-deluxe.html] he has a link to check LiveConnect object functionality (which fails for OBJECT tags). His recommendation is to "seek platform specific support which might be available from the JRE developers for your platform".
    I have been getting java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: ZeroApplet.class and java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: JavaToJS.class crashes with JRE version 1.6.0_26-b03-384-10M3425 VM executing a Java Applet. Until I checked the LiveConnect object functionality, I was unable to identify the source of the console error messages. This does seem to be the smoking gun.

    I just went up to check the LiveConnect object functionality page AND IT WORKED THIS TIME! I must confess, this is very mysterious. I will do some more checking and reply here if I can determine why it is working now (and more importantly, why it didn't work before).

    Apple isnt here. this is a user based forum for technical questions. The solution is to restart, reset, and restore as new which is in the manual after that get it replaced for hard ware failure. if your within your one year warranty its replaced if it is out of the warranty then it is 199$

    Try restarting your router as a first thing, this sometimes works for me.

    For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices. 
    That all works.
    It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now.  They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
    I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.

  • TS2090 Apple TV mirroring - sound problem. Tried everything. It's ****.

    I'm feeling totally exasperated. I've tried every 'solution' to the inherent Apple TV mirroring sound problem. Why don't Apple just fix it?? All I want to do is be able to view my computer video with sound when i want to. I don't feel that I should have to spend up to and over an hour trying repeated combinations of turning things on and off, entering code into Terminal, etc. EVERY TIME THAT I TRY TO MIRROR THROUGH APPLE TV. It's ridiculous, aside from the cost of buying the unit, I had to upload Mountain Lion despite the fact that my new (Early 2012) imac should have been on spec. That took hours and it still doesn't work. Very dissappointed, Apple have lost my brand loyalty for such an obviously fixable thing. ( I don't think that they read these comments). hope this makes you think twice before buying.  Yours, m

    I found a fix for this problem thanks to a friend of mine who I can only assume did a little research online!!
    The problem I had was having AirParrot once installed, and after the recent 10.9.2 update, the third party app messed up the way Mirroring was working..
    Here is the fix:
    1. Open Terminal in /Applications/Utilities.
    2. Run these commands respectively:
    sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/APExtFramebuffer.kext
    sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AirParrotDriver.kext
    sudo rm -rf /Library/Extensions/APExtFramebuffer.kext
    sudo rm -rf /Library/Extensions/AirParrotDriver.kext
    This will uninstall kernel extensions related to AirParrot. Other solutions around the web being posted are missing the extensions within /Library/Extensions.
    3. Enter your administrative password when prompted.
    4. Restart your computer.
    I tried it once again and it worked like a dream!!!

  • TS3623 Apple TV movie streaming problem

    Hi Folks
    When playing movies from my computer to Television via apple tv they play for 2-4 minutes the disappear leaving me to have to switch itunes off then back on again but after another 2-4 minutes the same thing happens. Any Ideas?? I've rebooted, reloaded and followed all the Apple stores suggestions but nothings working.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
    You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
    Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
    There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first.
    You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

    hi there, now here is an intresting problem i have with my apple bluetooth mouse. the problem i have is that if i turn off my mouse and then turn it on, it wont connect to my powerbook, so inorder to connect it, i have 2 options, the first one is to turn off my bluetooth on my computer and then turn it on again, then it will find my mouse, but it doesn't work everytime, sometime i'll have to let it off for 5 minutes, now my other and most effective option is to go and try to browse my mouse, as soon as the bluetooth tries to browse my mouse, everything gets connected. now here is something else that i found too, if i turn off my bluetooth mouse off, and then try to connect my mobile phone with the computer, i get the same problem, infact i get an error on my phone. I can eventualy connect my phone back if i turn off the bluetooth off and back on again. this is very weird and i need your help. thanx

    Pardon if this sounds like a smart-a.. answer, but the solution is, don't turn off the mouse!
    I leave mine on all the time. Even at night when my iMac is snoozing. The mouse uses almost no energy when idle. I gave up on rechargeable batteries about a year ago, because they only lasted a few days. Now I just use normal new batteries and they last anywhere from a couple of weeks to a month, depending on usage.
    Unless there's some other reason you're turning it off?

  • We live in an old Victorian House and have virtually no connectivity on the second or third floor using a  Linksys System, will the Apple Aiorport solve thge problem ? do you need sattelite stations on each floor?

    Any advice on Airport solving our second and third floor WIFI connectivity problems welcomed, do we need sattelite stations, ?? do not mind buying the system if it works?

    The broadcast power of all wireless routers is controlled by law, so as you might imagine, devices from varying manufactureres tend to perform about the same. It is very unlikely that an Apple AirPort router would perform significantly better...or worse...than the Linksys device that you have now.

    Yes, probably at least one per floor and possibly more, depending on the thickness of the walls in the areas where a wireless signal will be needed. Since you already have a Linksys router, and it is always best to use products from the same manufacturer on a wireless network, it would probably make sense to check with Linksys to see what they suggest as additions to your current router.
    It would be a excellent idea to have an IT professional come out and survey the house and take some measurements with test equipment to propose a system that is right for your needs. That will likely save a lot of headaches (and money) down the road.
