Apple TV will not let me play a rented iTunes movie... Help

I Keep getting a message that my "device does not support protected movies" or something rather when I try to play my rented movie. I have paid for the rented movie. Please help.

Is your monitor HDCP compliant? Refer to your TV manual if unsure.
Make sure HDMI cable is secure, try a different port and cable
If you are using an adapter (i.e. not a straight HDMI connection) that will not be supported.
