Apple TV wont Stay on 1080p

Hi Ive recently updates my Apple TV to Take 2 and its completely up to date with the latest version.
Everytime i set the Apple TV video settings to 1080p it accepts and it works fine, until i turn off my system (Amp/TV). The ATV obviously doesnt actually shut down.
When i go back to watch the ATV it automatically jumps back to 720p, and the setting in ATV have changed.
Im connecting the ATV to a New Sony Amp via HDMI. Could the Amp be forcing the ATV to change ?
this is the only thing i can think of.
If anyone has any info that would be great!
Thanks
Daniel

This is (probably) the result of the pain-in-the-arse copy protection technology known as HDCP. It is designed to prevent anyone from having access to an encrypted, full-resolution digital version of protected content (by tapping into the HDMI output and capturing it on a computer, for example.) In reality, it just gets in the way of legitimate users.
AppleTV, like most HD-capable devices which can play protected content, will only allow 1080P output when HDCP is verified to be active. If there's the slightest doubt about it being active, the device(s) fall back to a lower resolution. Some TVs, some signal paths, and especially the AppleTV seem to be very particular about 'approving' the signal path. When you shut off your TV/amp, then turn it back on, the AppleTV is not able to verify the HDCP, so won't 'allow' the 1080P resolution.
I finally gave up and just keep mine at 720P.

  • Screen Cracked and replaced, now phone wont stay on, and now i cant get it to turn back on

about 3 days ago i dropped my phone and the screen cracked.  Although it was cracked it still worked fine with no issues and the new ios6 was installed prior to it breaking.  I brought it to a iphone repair store where they fixed the screen.  After a day i noticed the phone just turned itself off so i put it on the charger and returned and it was working.  ever since then it has now shut off randomly for no reason, battery was either fully charged or more than 50%.  I hooked it up to my computer to restore it today and it seemed to work for about 3 or 4 hours until it started to turn off on its own.  i would restart it and it would work for a shorter and shorter period of time until now it wont stay on at all.  i plugged it into the charger and it goes through the apple powerup screen and when it turns on it says searching for network in the top left corner.  when i press apps and such it is very laggy and it eventually freezes and the screen fades to black and the cell phone turns off.  I cannot get it to stay on now, even when it stays plugged into the charger...HELP PLEASE!!! is this an apple issue or something the repair shop may be responisble for?????

The reapair shop is probably responsible. And now that you took it to a third party and not to apple store, Apple will not touch your phone at all. So you will probaly have to buy a new one or go back to the reapir shop and hope they can fix it.

  • My ipad 4 is frozen not charged wont stay on and has a dark grey keyboard that wont go away not charging

my ipad 4 is frozen not charged wont stay on and has a dark grey keyboard that wont go away not charging

    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

  • Apple tv wont play full songs

My apple tv wont play full songs durring shuffle mode. Its really frustrating because it is completely at random. I reset and restored and nothing seems to be helping.

MOV is a container, the codec and specs inside need to be compatible as well. Depending on what software was used for the conversion, that may also be a factor.
    See below
H.264 video up to 1080p, 30 frames per second, High or Main Profile level 4.0 or lower, Baseline profile level 3.0 or lower with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats

  • Screen wont stay lit up can i fix this already tried reseting it solved problem but returned

screen wont stay lit up on i pod touch already tried reseting it. problem samed the next day

If you stillhave the problem after restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod you have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IMac G5 wont stay asleep

I have just recently restored my iMac and am having the same issue with sleeping as I did last christmas when I got it; It wont stay asleep! I called AppleCare last year and they had me delete some com.autowake. something something in the system folder and I don't remember what it was. Since I don't have AppleCare anymore, I don't know what to do.
Does anyone know how to correct this?

I called AppleCare last year and they had me delete some com.autowake. something something in the system folder and I don't remember what it was.
It was probably the file com.apple.autowake.plist in the folder /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/.

  • Itunes purchase wont stay off my phone

I'm running iOS 7 on an iPhone 5s. Old song purchases wont stay off of my phone. I've unselected 'show all songs', 'automatic download', etc... I've logged off from iTunes app, and re-logged on. This technique has made the songs "go away", but once I shuffle songs or connect to bluetooth, these songs reappear. I cannot figure this out. Any hints?

    Hello simplyamazingyu,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:

    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
    Restoring your iOS device
Connect your device to your computer.
Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes. Select the Summary tab, and click the Restore button.
    Click Restore.
iTunes may prompt you with a software license agreement. If you click Agree, iTunes will download the iOS software file (.ipsw file) before restoring.
After a restore, the iOS device restarts. You should then see "Slide to set up". Follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant.
If needed, restore your device from a previous backup.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • QUAD G5 wont stay on!

I have one for you.... I GOT a new Quad .. for 3 days it was fine.. never went off once. Then I powered it off one night.. next morning powered it on. .it lasted 3 mins or so.. and went off. I tired to get it back on.. no avail... left it unlplugged for 30 mins.. went back on for 10 mins.. then off. I rang Apple.. it kept doing same thing.. on then off after a few mins. They said send it back for a repair. The Repair shop ran it thorugh every test they could find, hot cold starts overnight for 4 days.. nothing! They couldnt replicate the fault!
I get it back today.. same thing.. on.. and off... Its NOT tripping the power, but it wont stay on more than a few minutes.. then goes off.. and you have to let the PMU reset... and then power on.. 3-10 minutes.. boom off!
So I took it home, no problems! Ok must be the power at work, so I got the place re-wired, and got a 2 grand kick arse UPS with 2000 W loading, and power filtering, sinwave harmnic filtering you name it... (spent thousdands...) and guess what... same BLOODY problem, it wont stay on for more than a few minutes. I have swapped out power boards, just had only the mac and 23 screen connected, same problem. Yet away from here it seems ok.
so NOW I have asked APPLE to come out here at work, and tell me WHAT IS WRONG, as electricans cant figure it out, I cant figure it out. This quad has been total crap! Anyone got any ideas at what the **** is going on here???

    Hi Grant
Have you looked in the system logs to see if you've got things like thermal runaway detected will shut down or overtemp detected. it might be worth looking in your logs just after the next narcoleptic fit and posting what you find. Also any thing with PMU that being for the power supply.
I had a dual 2.5 with thermal runaway that had to go back.
Some basic stuff you have probably already eliminated like removing any third party ram and even additional hard drives etc.
Sounds wierd about it working away from the office but many here have had the experience of the behaviour not being replicated when tested by apple or being intermittent.
if you have apple coming out to you then I'd get as much background stuff done as you can.
The ususal drag of backing up the hard drive or cloning it then zeroing it with disk utility and doing a re-instal. Checking behaviour before Instaling your apps, one at a time, to eliminate software as the issue.
When they come you have a list of stuff done that points to a hardware issue.
If you have had this issue from the start then it's really a DOA issue. If you can find something difinative then you can just ask them to class it as a DOA and get it replaced.

  • Mac Mini 2011 wont stay online

Mac Mini 2011 wont stay online via ethernet nor wireless, all other apple products are connecting fine

Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
Restart the router. Many problems are solved that way.
    Step 2
Change the name of the wireless network, if applicable, to eliminate any characters other than letters and digits. You do that on your router via its web page, if it's not an Apple device, or via AirPort Utility, if it is an Apple device.
    Step 3
    Run the Network Diagnostics assistant.
    Step 4
    Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Enter the name of your wireless network in the search box. You should have one or more "AirPort network password" items with that name. Make a note of the name and password, then delete all the items. Quit Keychain Access. Turn Wi-Fi off and then back on. Reconnect to the network.
    Step 5
You may need to change other settings on the router. See the guidelines linked below:
Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    Potential sources of interference
    Step 6
Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    Step 7
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Contact Apple Support or an Apple Store if you have one near you. Your battery needs to run through the diagnostic test. You can also try to put the device into Recovery mode as well and rsetore the iOS software, and set up the device as new. Follow this article on Recovery Mode:
