Apple TV Would a Ethernet/HDMI cable work in boosting the HD signal when watching or downloading rented films?

I have a Apple TV which is about a year old. There is a new type of cable on the market. This cable is both Ethernet/HDMI. This cable will boost the signal for both HD and a 1080 television. At present Sky, will work with this new type of cable? Therefore, I was wondering if The Apple TV will also support this new type of cable?

No one here (we are all users like yourself) would know what Apple's plans are. Not sure what the advantage to this cable would be to the AppleTV.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    It's do-able, but I don't think it's a great idea.
    DVI
Some users with DVI have managed to get their TV's to work with DVI-HDMI cables. DVI carries no audio, so alternative connections need to be explored to enable audio. DVI doesn't necessarily support HDCP as well as other standards used by HDMI (which may or may not be an issue)
    Analogue
There are hardware converters that will convert HDMI to various other types of output, however there are some issues with doing so that you should be aware of.
    HDCP
HDCP compliant converters will not allow you to watch HDCP protected content such as that from the iTunes Store. Non compliant converters exist but we cannot discuss them under the Terms of Use for these communities.
    Resolution and aspect ratio
I'm not aware of any converters that will scale the output from the Apple TV, any TV or projector which is used will need to be widescreen and support resolutions of 720p (Apple TV 2), 720p/1080p (Apple TV 3)
    DAC
DAC (Example Only - Not a recommendation or suggestion that this is suitable in your circumstances)

Anyway, with the introduction of ios 8.x, apple stopped supporting older a/v cables. You need to get the latest a/v cable with the correct firmware. There is a little chip in the a/v cable. go to the apple store. Buy a new cable. Verify the cable works in the store.
some people report success with a full factory restore.
    Re-boot ipad.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until a red slider appears, then drag the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.  page 128 iPad user manual.
force power down if the above give you trouble.
Hold down both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button. Ten seconds or more.  Hold until the Apple logo appears.

Restore to factory settings by loading the latest version of ios that your machine will support:
Do a full backup of your device.  Twice is best -- cloud and computer.

  • HT2646 Does the HDMI cable get connected to the TV or HD receiver if you have a Bose surround system

In setting up apple tv does the HDMI cable get connected to the HD reliever instead of in back of the tv when u have a Bose system?

Your best bet is to connect the AppleTV's HDMI to the Bose and the Bose HDMI to the TV. You could connect the AppleTV's HDMI to the TV and the AppleTV's optical to the Bose but optical (S/PDIF, specifically) does not have as much bandwidth as HDMI so you'd potentially have lower quality sound (from what I've read...I'm not an expert on audio).

I am trying to use the brightness adjustment on a grayscale photoshop CS6 file.  The preview shows the adjustment working and changes the brightness, but when you click to apply the change, it does not apply the adjustment.  I have run into this problem before, although rarely, with some other files over the years and with earlier versions of CS.  I would like to know how to overcome this problem?

Make sure you are viewing your image at 100%. At smaller views, pixels and layers and the way they interact are approximate interpolations and won't show you the actual pixel-for-pixel changes.

Take it to Apple and ask them to fix the physical damage the water caused.

  • "I have a 5th generation time capsule. All of my wifi devices (iPhone, iPad, macbook) worked fine until the other day when everything but my laptop stopped receiving a wifi signal.

"I have a 5th generation airpot extreme. All of my wifi devices (iPhone, iPad, macbook) worked fine until the other day when everything but my laptop stopped receiving a wifi signal. I shut down my Mac, unplugged the modem, router, let sit for 10 seconds, started it up and 'presto' everything worked.  Then yesterday all but the macbook stopped receiving wifi again.  I tried the same scenario as the other day but nothing.  I reset the airport extreme to factory settings and still nothing.  Is the airport extreme not working?

If it was not working the Mac would not get a signal. Restart the IOS devices and reconnect to the network

iTunes download is extremely slow or not working, am I the only one experiencing this, iTunes download is extremely slow or not working, am I the only one experiencing this?

I do not have a solution, just the same complaint.  ***!  !    I just used the iTunes store 2 weeks ago and now, after reviewing everything they asked for including ID/Pass/ Account Info etc.  I can't even get into the store.  I have tried asking at the Mac store and it has all been to no avail.  I was perfectly happy with iTunes before all of this ********... seriously what is the issue with iTunes?  They ask me to upload a new version (with no system specs anywhere that I can find on the page)  and then say it can't utilized because of system inadequacy.  It is exceedingly frustrating.

Set the bookmarks to be unsorted, or maybe "sort by added". Use the Views menu in the toolbar in the bookmarks Library window.

I have a iMac desktop and a macbook pro laptop I work mainly on the desktop but when i go away for work I take my laptop. Is there any way to make it automatically back up to mirror my desktop? Like when I update a file it updates on there too, if I install software it installs on there too etc?
When I first got the laptop I syned it to load with all the same software etc but it hasn't continued to sync
    Thanks

    I use
    Chronosync (http://www.econtechnologies.com/pages/cs/chrono_overview.html)
    and
    Dropbox (https://www.dropbox.com/)
Both work very well. The former I use for manual, one-way synchroniziation of (nearly) entire systems. The latter for automatic syncing of very active directories through local and shared online storage.

  • Would an S-Video cable work for iPod to TV Viewing?

I know apple recommends to buy this cable.
However I really don't want to pay $20.00 when or if I can use an S-Video cable. I have an Apple iPod dock that has an S-Video port on the back of the dock, and I was wondering if I wanted to view pictues or videos on my TV... could I just hook up an S-Video cable to the dock, change iPod to TV-On, and be able to watch my stuff on my iPod on my TV? Or would I need Apples special cable?

I use an sVideo cable on my dock and it works good. I also use a stereo plug to rca plug y cable to get sound from the dock to my tv. Radio Shack carries these audio cables.

  • What does the Apple TV add to an HDMI cable?

    Hello
This isn't meant to be a facetious question - just a genuine enquiry:
Now that the Apple TV doesn't have a storage drive anymore (I believe), what advantages does it confer over simply connecting a MacBook Pro to a TV with a MiniDisplay Port to HDMI cable?
Of course, I realise that a cable isn't a viable option for a desktop computer and as far as laptops go, it isn't as aesthetically pleasing but I am genuinely interested to know what would be the purpose of having an Apple TV?
    Thanks for your help..

..........Am I correct in saying that the Apple TV only gets it media by streaming from the computer or mobile device rather..........
No, that's incorrect, there are a number of services the Apple TV connects directly to the internet for. Indeed it would be fair to say as the Apple TV has developed the number of internet services have grown and in many cases now users see their primary use for the Apple TV as a gateway to these services rather than an extension of their iTunes application on their computer.

  • My thunderbolt to hdmi cable worked once but then stopped

so i bought a thunderbolt to HDMI adapter and it work great but when i took out the hdmi and put it in my console id didnt work when i checked if it would work with the adapter is didnt so this adaper stoped working a broke my HDMI cord

Hi, how did you solve your problem? Im having the exact same issue.
"When connected to the TV via the Thunderbolt-HDMI cable, a blue screen briefly appears on the Macbook. However, when looking in System Preferences/ Displays, there is no trace of any external screen. Many of the forums I have read say there should be an "Arrangement" tab, but this is not appearing on mine."
plus the cable works on my boyfriend's Macbook Air, which is an older version than mine.
I have the Macbook Air Version 10.8.4, bought July 2013 (newest version).
