Apple TV YouTube account log-in

I just got an Apple TV and am having difficulties logging in to my YouTube account. It fails every tedious time. Wrong name or password. The same "wrong" name or password I successfully used to log-in on all my Boxee Boxes, and my WD TVs. Is there some trick that I am missing here?

I would restart the Apple TV in this way, and then log into you tube via the settings in the menu.
Restarting your Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation) using the onscreen menu
If you have Apple TV software 5.0 or later installed, you can restart your Apple TV using the onscreen menu. To restart your Apple TV choose Settings > General > Restart.

I had the same problem with an "upgraded" youtube account. i.e. ages ago I must have pressed the upgrade button and integrated it into Google. I login via a gmail username. This account behaves the same way as a new google/youtube account.
My hardware is Apple TV 3 purchased around April 2012 in Australia
spent hours trying all sorts of remedies nothing worked e.g. :-
- enabled two factor authentication in youtube
- create mobile application password
In the end the answer was simple, turned off all the above and reverted the account to it's basic settings.
Create a channel in the account and it started working

Establish a Google+ channel. Then be sure your ATV has the latest update. This worked for me last week.

My YouTube account is connected to my Gmail account. I never set up a second YouTube account with a username, etc. When I try to log in to the AppleTV YouTube app, it says "this type of account cannot be used." I'm not sure what the issue is. Can anyone help?

You have to go into your Gmail account settings.
Then Security.
Then turn ON 2-Step Verification
Follow the instructions to link a cell phone to your google account. They will text you a secondary code and once you've entered that your 2-step verification will be set up.
Then you should have the option on the bottom of the page to add a device. Call it apple tv and then it will generate a secondary code specifically for your Apple TV.
On the Apple TV itself, ultimately I think you have to enter just the first part of your e-mail address (before the @gmail.com) as your Youtube login username.
Then you should enter your gmail account password.
Apple TV will tell you it is incorrect.
Then, retry and enter the long secondary password that google generated for the apple tv.
That should do it.

Do you have Google 2 stage authentication turned on?
If so, you wont't be able to use your normal google password, but will have to instead generate an "application specific" password for the iPad YouTube app in the google security settings section.

I am having a problem with my youtube account, as since updating to iOS 8.3, the other day, every time I go to my youtube account and click on anything there by opening up a tab, it always goes to the youtube app and then goes back and opens a new tab. Everytime I have updated, it seems to get worse not better. One other thing that happened that has not been fixed yet when I updated a while ago, was that when you have many tabs open and go back and forth between them, it aleays reloads and does not stay the way you left it. If you delete the YouTube app you will not be affecting your YouTube account. You can always reinstall it & see if that fixes the problem.
As far as Safari pages reloading between tabs, I have also noticed the issue after iOS 8 on my iPad 2. Updating to the latest iOS on older devices can see a degradation in performance within certain apps due to the limitations of those devices.

What exactly happens when you try setting up your Cox account on your Nokia 1020? Do you get any error message? Also, do you have other email accounts set up on the phone? If yes, are you getting the same issue with the other accounts?
Setting up an email address requires a mobile data or WiFi connection. Try testing it by visiting websites using the mobile browser. You may also try deleting the internet cache of your phone by going to Settings > Applications > Internet Explorer > delete history before re-setting up your Cox email.

invalid BUT when I get on my Imac and type in the EXACT same username and password I'm able to log into my account ??

Are you typing your Username or your email account? You can't log into the YouTube app with your email account, only your username.

If the old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then you can go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your ID back to the way it was.

I can get YouTube on my Apple TV, but it won't let me use my YouTube account (created through my Mac), on the Apple TV. I'm stumped.

The two are incompatible, HDMI is a digital signal and VGA is an analog signal. You need a monitor with a HDMI port or a DVI-I port, these are both digital signals. DVI-I gives the best output.

Yes sorry, I can see that from your question title. Are you in the US? Ifv so movie redownloads should be available, but I believev some studios aren't onboard.
In iTunes, go to the Store home page - on the right in Quick Links is there a Purchased/Purchases section? If so check if you can download the movies from there.
If you can't see them go to expresslane.apple.com and raise a support ticket for iTunes store, asking them to enable download via iTunes.

If i make a new Itunes account/Apple ID and I log into it on a computer and sync it to my phone, will I loose all the content on my phone?

I used to share an Itunes account but I recently made my own through my phone. I have all my stuff from my phone backed up on the computer on my old Apple ID/Itunes account. I want to back up all my current content on my phone to my NEW Apple ID/Itunes account but I'm afraid things will erase if I try to do so. How can I do this and still keep all the content on my phone currently?

You can't back up iTunes store content to a different account on your oomputer.
