Apple tv2 not streaming from home library

Trying to watch movies from my itunes library and nothing will stream to my Apple tv. No video will stream at all only music. I've tried to itunes logout and login fix and that won't work. I keep getting an error after about 10 seconds of video. Please help !

Your router may be not fast enough or there is too much interference (it may be between your computer and the router or the router and apple TV).
Assure your router is 802.11n or at least 802.11g with good capacity (it must not fallback to 802.11b)
If the movie has a higher bitrate than your router is capable of delivering that won't stream at all.

My photos are not streaming from my iPhone 4 to my iPad 7.  The settings are correct and it always has before I had a recent holiday in Cuba. Those photos didn't stream and now new photos since home in Vancouver, Canada are not? Both are updated to IOS 7.1.2

Hmm... It looks like they are gone forever now then. I can't think of any other way of getting them back apart from restoring from an iTunes or iCloud backup. Somebody else might be able to help but I think they're gone forever. I don't know why they were wiped from your iPod but it could be something to do with security. In the future I would recommend syncing to iTunes or iCloud to prevent it from happening again. You can always make a reservation at the Genius Bar and see what those guys can do because it seems that they are still there, they are just 'hidden' from view. http://concierge.apple.com/reservation/gb/en/techsupport/

  • Prevent computer sleep when Apple TV is streaming from iTunes ...

    Hi,
Is it possible to prevent my computer from going to sleep when my Apple TV is streaming from my iTunes library ?  I was told that I can watch a port to see if there is data  streaming through it.
What is the port used for this ?
    Regards.

    Hi Chris,
My computer does not go to sleep in response to the system preferences's setup.  It has always been like that since I bought my iMac.  I have submitted this problem to this forum many times and was never able to find a clue.
I don't have any other problem with my iMac and it works great.  I also didn't want to go through a full reinstall.  In order to get it to sleep, I wrote a little handler script that monitors my computer's activity.  It looks at specific apps or processes and monitors their activity.  If none of these apps or processes have been active for a specified amount of time, the script forces my computer to sleep.
When streaming is pushed from iTunes to my Apple TV, iTunes is then acting as a server.  I can see if it is using CPU.  I monitor it's activity and put it to sleep when the delay is expired.  When streaming is pulled from my Apple TV, iTunes does not use my CPU and I don't know how to monitor this specific «pulled streaming».  I hope that this better explains what I am trying to do.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Why does the password of Apple Id not paste from the clipboard at the Ipad?

In most apps, you can't paste into the password field. It's a security risk.

  • TS3989 Why will some pictures not stream from iphone4s to ipad2,pictures taken before and pictures taken after have ,but some won't

Why will some pictures not stream from iphone4s to ipad2,pictures taken before and after transferred ok but some won't.Any suggestions

        1.    Photostream only syncs photos over Wi-Fi, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi to begin with.
        2.    Photostream only syncs when the camera app is closed, ensure it is closed.
        3.    Photostream only syncs when the battery is above 20%, try recharging the device
Try disabling photo stream on your device (settings > iCloud), restarting your device and then re-enabling photo stream.
If this doesn't help you may need to reset photo stream. You can do this at icloud.com by clicking on your name in the top right corner and then the advanced settings in the pop-up dialogue box that appears.
Note: disabling photostream and re-enabling it will result in any photos that are currently in the photostream album on your device, that are older than 30 days old, not being added back.

  • Why Apple does not support from Iran? And why not open a store in Iran?

Why Apple does not support from Iran? And why not open a store in Iran?

You think this is an injustice?
I think that injustice relates to rights that are not honored or respected, and I think we can agree that in no circumstance, human, civil, political or legal, is having or owning an Apple ID, or any other consumer item, a right.
Why should this happen? ...Iraq ... Afghanistan....
I believe that Apple, and most American companies, would love to have access to every market in the world, and Iran certainly (or at least, potentially) represents a larger market for Apple products than many countries in which they do business. So, given the choice, they'd be there.

  • I can not see video on my apple tv when streaming from my ipad

Curious what I can try.  I am trying to watch a vidoe off my ipad using apple tv and all I get is the audio.  I am streaming from Amazon Prime.

--Not sure if they still do but Amazon Prime used to block video Airplay, only transmitting audio  I thought they'd changed this but that may have been another provider.
Is your Amazon Prime app up to date?

  • Apple TV not streaming all iTunes movies

I have been using ATV successfully now for about 8 months. In the last 60 days, ATV only recognizes about half of the new movies I add to iTunes. I use Handbrake in exactly the same way on each movie but when I stream my iTunes library to ATV, it only recognizes a portion of them.
Oddly, I can play all of the movies in iTunes, Quicktime and even my iPod.
This problem has been driving my nuts for 2 months now. any advice is greatly apprecaited.

    Hello!
I have a similar or the same problem... Rip all my movies with Handbrake Tv setting!
But I have different movies that doesn't stream at different days... And some days it works fine!
Here's a solution for you... When a movie doesn't stream (because it says that Apple Tv doesn't know the file) I start syncing the movie instead! But you don't have to sync the whole movie, just start it for some seconds... Then I try to start the movie again at the appleTV and now it works fine!!
Seems that it knows the file when you syncronising the movie but not always when you stream it?? Weard... Cause I can sync all my movies but from time to time I can't watch some movies that isn't on the harddrive on the ATV.. But try to sync it for a few seconds and then start it even if it isn't finnished syncing!!
Hope you understand me and good luck!!

  • ICloud Match not streaming from my iMac

Perhaps I am missing something obvious, but my matched Itunes songs won't stream from my Imac. I can only play songs if I download them. I am able to download the songs, then play them, but I thought streaming was possible from desktops (i.e. non ios devices). My MBP streams plays/streams my non-downloaded Itunes match songs without a problem. I tried turning match on and off, checked there are no parental controls etc. Thanks for any help out there.

  • Airport Extreme/AirDisk Apple TV - Not streaming...

What is the "chain of command" within an AEX/AirDisk AppleTV environment?
I've got my media drive (external usb) connected an Airport Extreme so that my laptop can access the media wirelessly. I have iTunes setup to use the external as it's library. There have been no problems with my laptop accessing this rather large library wirelessly (>150gb).
AppleTV, however, will not stream this content. It's been trying to load for over half an hour now.
Is data streaming from the external to my laptop, and then streaming again to AppleTV? Shouldn't APTV use my iTunes/laptop as more of a control panel instead of streaming the data twice?
Any tips? 40gb is not sufficient for my library - i want access to all of my media. Yes, I am on an N/G network, so it's less than optimal, but I've been able to stream this media withiin a G network before.
    Thanks

Alan just called me and we spent 30 minutes brainstorming about this, so I simply must try to put up the stuff we came up with
Firstly, I only own a Mac Mini and an Airport Express. I am relatively new to the Mac community (although have been a huge fan and have followed the tech side of it for a long time), but here's what we came up with.
In a nutshell, it is round-tripping from the hard drive, to the laptop, back to the airport, and then to the AppleTV. How'd we come up with this? Stop me at any point if I'm wrong... assumptions:
    - Airdisk uses samba to share the hard drive over the network with any Mac connected to that network.
    - Airdisk is available to any mac that is properly configured through regular IP (say, it's a samba share that's located on the IP of the router - your mac is already connected to the router, so it connects to the drive at router_ip/sambashare)
So at any point further, the Airdisk is just a dumb file server located on the Airport Extreme that serves up USB drive contents (I don't mean "dumb" in a derogatory sense, more than it was designed to do the least possible, for efficiency, such as a dumb terminal).
The AppleTV, however, finds "sources" as other iTunes libraries. Judging by Apple's previous implementations for such things, they are using Bonjour (aka Rendezvous, aka multicast DNS Service Discovery), to discover basically iTunes libraries (using the same discovery suffix that iTunes uses to find other iTunes instances on the network, say ".itunes.local").
So since the hard drive is not advertised as an iTunes library, it won't be directly found. Instead, AppleTV finds the iTunes that's running on your laptop. It starts streaming content from that iTunes library (again, from your laptop). Your laptop in turn needs to collect the content before sending it over to AppleTV. It does this, again, over the network using Airdisk.
So essentially, you have a packet follow this path:
AppleTV requests for content from laptop (packet travels through Airport extreme to laptop)
Laptop requests for data from Airdisk (packet travels from laptop to Airport)
Laptop receives data from Airdisk (packet travels from Airport Extreme to laptop)
Laptop sends received data to Apple TV (packet travels to Airport Extreme, and then to the Apple TV)
So essentially, while you are streaming a movie with a lot of content, the packet is going roundabout to the airport extreme, and then to the apple TV, instead of going directly from the AE to the ATV.
Does that make sense? Essentially, there's all this roundabout overhead for the packet to travel.
I could TOTALLY be wrong. I would love it if Apple chimed in and proved this theory wrong
But I think this is ok because the functionality to make the AppleTV stream directly from Airdisk is easy to add, by just patching the software. All you'd need to do is have samba shares as possible sources, instead of just other iTunes instances. You'd still be getting stuff from an IP address. You'd just change the protocol.
Anyway, I hope this didn't get too convoluted. I'd get Alan to make up a picture. He's the graphic designer. I'm just a gearhead. (Used to be "PC Guy" turned Mac guy the moment I found out OS X had a Unix underbelly 5 years ago)

  • IMac not streaming from Match, says cannot find location

I have most of my music on an external harddrive which was connected to my iMac. All those songs are uploaded or matched to my Match. I have unplugged the harddrive (since my iMac does not like firewire and will freeze, another issue completely) but now my computer will not stream the songs from my Match that were read through this computer. Songs that were uploaded/matched through my old work computer play fine on this computer, but it seems to be looking for these songs as if they were still connected to the harddrive and completely ignores Match.
I have turned off Match and turned it back on to rescan and it's still doing it. Everything plays fine through my iPhone 5.
Am I just not understanding how this works or am I doing something wrong?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

iTunes Match does not change your local library without specific instruction.
So your local library will look for Songs on the original 'now disconnected' drive.
It is very important that you make a full secure backup of your original Song files, once complete, try the following:
    1.  Create a Smart Playlist with the conditions, Location is 'on this computer' and Media Kind is music.
    2.  Select 4-5 Songs as a trial and delete the local Songs.
    3.  They will vanish from the playlist - find them in the library and play them (they will stream from iCloud).
If you are content, you can remove all Songs from the playlist, leaving a library that will look to the iCloud for these Songs.

  • Streaming from home with DSL

I am wanting to do some streaming from a home network that has a d-link 655 router, DSL connection, Server 10.5.5, QTSS and QTB. I get things to work well from within my house, but can't seem to get it to be accessible from outside the house. I've attempted to create a virtual server on the d-link and opened the ports 80, 7070, 8000, 8001, and 554 that was redirected to the internal private ip of the server. Didn't seem to work when a friend tried to access the stream using rtsp://ipaddress_of_dslmodem/video.sdp (I have a static ip address for the dsl modem).
I would be interested in hearing from anyone that has successfully configured the d-link dir-655 router to enable sending streams out from a private home network.

I have had some problems too. What I have found that seems to work for me. At least in some way, is to set the forwarding ports under the Advanced tab.
Under the Port Forwarding Rules I have added my own application name QuickTime Streaming and added the ports 7070, 1220, 554, 8000 to the TCP field and the ports to the UDP field. It won't take the suggestion of 10000-65635 so I just gave it a large range. I did have to disable my torrent port at 51413 however so you might have some conflicts you'll have to resolve before enabling this.
I also have my system set to be under the DMZ'ed feature. This means your machine is naked to the Internet by most standards. You may or may not want to use this for that reason alone. The risk is entirely yours to determine.
Another thing you may want to do is set up a Dynamic DNS for a host name. There is a feature within the router that will allow you to choose from one of several providers and instead of having to use your IP address (which - depending on your ISP and service package may change) you can use a domain name. I have done this as well.
It's too early for my bum-like friends to be up to test this with me but it seems it works. I do have two machines running my setup. One sends the video feed via wireless to another machine on the network and that machine has a streaming server installed to broadcast it to the Internet.
    Hope that all helps.
