Apple TV2 will not update

Been trying to update my Apple TV2 for two days. Always tells me it cannot update at this time. Try again. Is there somethng different about how to install this update?

I just updated my iPhone 5 and iPad2 to iOS7 and was delighted to hear that Apple TV is also being updated. However, when I go to Update on my Apple TV 2 it tells me that my Apple TV is up to date even though I am running version 5.3. Any work arounds or do I just wait until the Apple TV tells me that there is an update. BTW I rebooted the Apple TV.

Restoring didn't put version 6 on my AppleTV, but, I used the first method: "choose Settings > General > Reset, and then click Restore." It did delete all my settings though other than that no change.
So you are saying "Restore the AppleTV software to current version software" will only work if you connect your apple TV directly to iTunes?

So, my ipod touch is running 5.1.1 and is slow and sometimes unresponsive. According to Apple it will not update to iOS 6. It is a 32GB, 3rd Generation. I want the new features but it's making me mad. I do not want to jailbreak. HELP?!

For the slowness:
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore.
If when you choose restore you get a message that the device cannot be found, download the file below
Apple TV Software Restore 5.1.1 (2nd generation)
Apple TV Software Restore 5.1.1 (3rd generation)
Then hold down the option key while choosing restore and select the downloaded file when prompted.

Apple TV3 and TV2 will not update to 5.2

Same problem that seems to happen with every update. Brand new Apple TV is stuck at "Step One of Two." Same with old Apple TV 2. It will not update via wi-fi or ethernet cable. It will not update via iTunes. iTunes reports that the downloaded file is corrupted. Downloading the software at mirror sites and trying to use iTunes to update from the downloaded file also gives a report that the downloaded file is corrupted. Downloading 5.1.1 and attempting a restore from that file just hangs. I ran that all night with no progress.
Both Apple TVs display severe artifacts on the screen, including screen freezing while the sound continues -- even on completely downloaded movies. The movies are basically unwatchable.
Apple has been unable to fix these problems for years, now. I have an extensive iTunes movie library which is worthless because DRM prevents watching the movies using any other device. The way I see it, either give me an Apple TV that actually works or refund the money I spent on my iTunes movies.
Between this and the stupid MacBook Pro wi-fi problems I may never buy an Apple product again.

OK. I solved my issue. Before changing your address on your Apple ID, you MUST be signed out of iCloud and iTunes on your phone! If your old email keeps reappearing on your phone (and is grayed out), you'll have to go to your computer and change address back to the OLD address. Then, go back to phone and either (1) sign out or (2) remove the iCloud and/or iTunes apps which are opened - (which you'll be prompted to use old email address to verify). Finally, go back to computer and change email address back to the new one. You'll then be able to set up apps on phone using the changed email address.
Ugh, it took a while, but it worked!

I have an earlier version Apple TV and I have tried to update it several times using several methods. I am connected to the internet via ether and not wireless and teh signal is good. I can stream without any issues ever. the update is downloaded fine but not installed. I get a failure to update message. I have tried to updat normally, restore, reset, etc...... I have no more ideas.

Whilst using airplay my devices constantly disconnect. I am trying to update my software on my apple tv as it says there is an update available but it will not work.

Intermittant issues are often a result of interference. If on wifi try ethernet. Make sure router is up to date. Go to istumbler (Mac) or netstumbler (PC) to get a report of the network, look for signal strength and noise.

Apple ID will not update apps.

Hello, I have a strange problem with the App Store. I had an old Apple ID filled with apps that I would like to update on my ipad. When I go to the apple store and press update it asks me for the password to the Apple ID. I type in the password and all the apps that need an update have a circle with a blue square in them which means its downloading. But before any app can get any progress done the downloading sign goes away and it says update again without any error message. I am currently running ios 7.1.2 on an ipad and I am sure it is the Apple ID because the ipad updates all the other apps I have on my other Apple ID.

Pages, Numbers and Keynote have never been free on a Mac until the advent of Mavericks. Prior to this they were paid apps. These apps didn't come preinstalled on your Mac as free bundled apps. They may have been preinstalled because whomever bought the Mac, bought the iWorks apps at the same time.
The Apple ID of the person who bought the apps in encoded into the licensed copy that is downloaded and that is the only Apple ID that can update or redownload an app.
There is more to the story. Who originally set up this Mac? Do you find the iWorks apps in the Purchases list in the Mac App Store when logged into your Apple ID? Do they appear when logged into your father's Apple ID?

Had to update the credit card on my itunes account. I did and this was done correctly. But my apple TV won't update to the new credit card. I have rebooted, have downloaded the latest software. so therefore I am unable to purchase any movies, etc.

Apple Configurator will not update

Apple Configurator was downloaded by different user and now i am unable to update. I'm thinking i should delete the app and reinstall on my mac book pro but, I dont want to lose the image files that already exist.. Can anyone give me some advise?

Deleting the app won't cause its files to be deleted. Back up all data before making any changes.

If you account is disabled, you would need to contact Apple at 1-800-275-2273 to speak with account security. They will need to verify your information and then they can enable your account. This is the only way to enable a disabled account

That is the highest you will be able to go with 3g. You need 3gs or 4 to go any higher (multi processors and more memory needed). Version 4.2.1 marks the end of your updates for that device.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
