Apple TV2 with B

I have a pair of B&W MM-1 connected directly to my Samsung TV. Now I am considering buying an Apple TV2, but I cannot figure out the right way to connect my MM-1s.
What is the appropriate way to connect them if I:
Still want to be able to use the MM-1s together with my TV.
Want to use the Apple TV2 for playing music through my MM-1s using airplay without turning my TV on.
Do not want to move cables around all the time.
Can I somehow take advantage of the USB-port in the speakers?

If your network doesn't have wifi, connect your devices by Ethernet, wifi is not a necessity and indeed Ethernet is always the best way to connect things on a network.
An ad hoc network created with your iMac cannot be used with the Apple TV.

Apple tv2 with macs and PCs

i recently ran out of room on my MBP to store movies/iTunes. I acquired a PC and i'm wondering if i set up this PC and store movies on it, will the apple TV be able to play the movies?

As long as it's accessing the same network and using the same apple id you should be fine

Home Sharing with Apple TV2 Broken After 4.2 Update

It looks like I have some company with at least similar issues. This is very frustrating and support was no help.
ATV 2 worked just great with Windows 7 64-bit and iTunes library until the 4.2 update was loaded. Now ATV 2 keeps telling me to turn on home sharing on a computer but it's already on and iTunes is running, I'm using iTunes 10.2.1.1 and Apple TV2 with latest update 4.2 (2060) and connection over WIFI. Home Sharing is enabled on my computer and ATV2 using the same Apple ID and password. I can get to YouTube and the iTunes store from my ATV 2 without issue.
I've attempted many solutions from what I could find online but no luck:
1. Turned off/on home sharing on both the Apple TV 2 and in iTunes (multiple times)
2. Re-entered my Apple ID and password on both ATV 2 / iTunes
3. Restarted iTunes and ATV 2
4. Restarted the DSL modem/router (ZyXEL PK5000z)
5. Turned the firewall completely off (Norton Internet Security - firewall is off in router)
6. Restored ATV 2 over WIFI
7. Reinstalled iTunes
8. Changed my Apple ID and password then reset in iTunes and ATV 2
9. Renamed my itunes library
10. Disabled QoS upstream/downstream protocol in my DSL modem/router
11. Restored ATV 2 through USB connection in iTunes. This worked for a few minutes but after I turned off ATV 2 and later tried again it was back to it not working...
Any other ideas?

Well, I tried a few other things and one worked but again just the first time I tried connecting to the desktop PC with iTunes. I flashed my router with the latest update and the ATV2 could see the iTunes library and I was able to play media. Later in the day I was going to show off to my daughter that I had fixed it and, to my dismay, no go. I tried opening the suggested ports but no luck.
I then tried loading iTunes on a Win7 laptop and it works perfectly with the ATV2. Both the laptop and the ATV2 are connected to the router wirelessly while the Desktop is connected to the router by Ethernet. Not sure if this is part of the issue as it sounds like this didn't work for others. The only other difference between the laptop and desktop is that the desktop has Win7 SP1 loaded while the laptop does not; now I'm scarred to load it though I don't think that's the issue. All in all, a very vexing situation. Hopefully Apple comes up with a solution soon.

Can I control my Apple TV with a Samsung Smart Touch Remote?

I am trying to control my Apple TV2 with a Samsung 7 series Smart Touch remote. The Samsung universal remote options do not seem to work, nor does the Apple TV apear to be capable of reading inputs from the remote through the Apple TV 3rd party remote setup.

I do not know if anyone else noticed this. I have a Samsung Un55hu7250 and the above solution worked with one exception.
If you add it as a "Home Theater" type system then, you cannot tell the TV to use your actual home theater system for the volume control.
If you instead, On your tv got to system/device manager/Universal remote setup. Then choose blue ray device and type in apple. Select Apple, do the power on test, then select "no it didn't work". Then it will ask you to enter the model number of the Blue Ray device. Type in "Apple" in the search and it will list Both Apple1 and Apple2 in the device list. Select Apple2 and then you will have an Apple TV that is configured as a DVD Player so you can tell the TV to control the volume via the Home Theater system.
Net result, I have one remote again finally with Apple TV, Samsung TV, Dish Hopper, Sony BD, Antenna TV and surround sound. (Only if you are using the optical audio out to the theater system)

Airplay on iPad has just stopped working with Apple TV2

As of today, Airplay on my iPad with Apps that were working (eg TED, ABC iView) transmitting video and sound to Apple TV2 has ceased working. When the Airplay logo on the iPad app is pressed it remains white, not changing to blue as it normally does.

Thanks for tip. Rebooting iPad fixed it. Apple TV seems very sensitive to connection issues. I have normally have no issues with my iMac, iPod, iPad, and Airport Express connections

I Purchased an Apple TV2 last week and have been unable to get sound on my LG PLasma TV Model # 42PG60UD and need help. There is sometimes a little static noise. The actions I have taken so far to resolve are
Tried Apple TV in 4 different HDMI slots on TV
Confirmed cable I was using was OK by testing with DVD Player, DVD recorder, X Box, WII. Sound and picture OK on all
Tried 2 other HDMI cables with same results as above
Unplugged everything so only Apple TV was plugged in to television.
Altered audio settings in Apple TV and television as per other discussions on this subject. Dolby on/off/auto. 16 Bit. Dolby or PCM on television.
Confirmed Apple TV2 OK by testing on another television.
Tried using optical digital cable from Apple TV to television.
Apple tech called me to run through and could not solve and suggested i return the unit.
The unit works well. Can play video, view youtube, watch trailers, watch photo slideshows from Itunes etc just cannot hear anything.
Any comments appreciated on settings, configuration etc

IPhoto with Apple TV2 on HDTV?

IPHOTO is organized but can it be seen in the same organized way with Apple TV2-HDMI to HDTV?

Just open up iTunes on the mac with the photos you'd like to see on ATV2. Click on the "Advanced" menu, then on "Choose Photos to Share...". From there you will be taken to a menu where you can select which albums you'd like to appear on ATV2.

Are all tv's with hdmi inputs compatible with Apple TV2?

I am considering purchasing a new TV. My older model Sony TV, even though it has an HDMI input, is not compatible with Apple TV. Do I have to take my Apple TV to Best Buy and plug it into every TV I look at to determine if they are compatible? Does Apple publish a list of compatible TV's?

I receive an errror message telling me that my HDMI connection is not HDCP compatible. You might try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for a 30 seconds. If that doesn't help try using another HDMI cable.

Running a computer 24/7 is not ideal and one area where AppleTV1 was better in that you could store content on it's internal drive.

Itunes jams with Apple TV2

Hello, ever since I updated itunes to newest version it keeps jamming.
I would start my apple tv2 and click movie library, music, or whatever to join home sharing and apple tv2 would just sit there loading, I would have to come back to the computer and click on itunes and have to force quit it and restart itunes, this would go on for a few attempts and finally will work, but very frustrating.
Is anyone else having this problem?
Is there a way to fix this?
Or just wait for apple to come out with a fix?
I left windows because of problems like these, things just not working, hope apple isn't going in this direction.
Everything worked fine till I upgrade itunes about a month ago or so.

It should remember the credentials.
Have you unpowered and restarted the device?
May also be worth resetting the AppleTV settings and configuring from scratch.

Homesharing not working with my Apple TV2

I can't get homesharing to work. I type in my username and PW in iTune, I authorized my computer, but then Apple TV2 keeps telling me I need to turn on Homesharing on my computer? What's the deal?

After much groaning I think I have finally figured this out. My Apple TV worked fine for more than a year, then after an update it kept losing home sharing. I finaly noticed that this coincided with my computer display going to sleep. So after some investigation I changed my energy saver settings to NOT put the hard disk to sleep whenever possible. That seems to have taken care of it. I don't know why Apple couldn't figure this out.
