Apple unable to deliver my first iMac !

This is quite a bad first impression. After having been convinced by an Ipod Touch, I decided to become a switcher (and thus start a process that would have kicked out all windows based PC from our house) and ordered a promising iMac 27 i7 with 1To and SSD disk.
Paid with credit card on 26th nov (black friday, 100 EUR off the expensive stuff) and due to be delivered on the latest today...
As you can guess, we have been waiting for the baby... and ? NOTHING !
French customer support has just informed us that the box is in Ireland !!!
I was sure that this never happen with a MAC neither (no blue screen, no virus, no... no problem !).
I am indeed upset and my sons will probably make fun of me and my switcher attitude.
I can even not cancel the damned order as it has been shipped (at least, not yet).
Guess what has said the Apple girl ? OK, sir, you did indeed your part by paying the money, we are not to be blamed, it is the forwarder who is guilty (UPS). So what ? At least, a discount or any additional features would have calm me down.
Am I the only one or Apple is not becoming to big to run ?

Well, Roger, I suppose according to your message I am not supposed to give a further reply (argh too late !). Firstly thank you and so, I do apologize as I was probably reacting too quickly.
Well, I can feel you're "Apple" minded but in my world, product or service are to be delivered on time. I thought it was even more the case by Apple (which indeed commit to deliver on the latest today). Never, I could tell to a disappointed customer that I am not responsible, it is my forwarder : they have have chosen and dealt with UPS, not me ! Apple claim free delivery, but no delivery at all !
I was willing to switch because I can't take more from Windows world but since I started to dig in, I have heard also quite many issues by Apple stuff, from yellowish screen to riplocked superdrives, or useless Iphones !
OK, after all, perfectness does not exist... ouch, I have paid close to 2800 EUR, almost 3500 USD !!!
For further question, I promise, I'll go through the whole forum first, such as compensation for late deliveries...

There is no problem about using one ID for iTunes, iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match, and another for iCloud and its email and syncing facilities. This way you can all use the same iTunes account but have separate emails and calendars etc.

    Query by serial number
Apple's warrenty database will identify the type of Mac you have.  Your serial number is securely sent, but you get only the name of your machine.

Or will I have to buy a new iMac to get all these new updates ??
It would be a shame if I did because my iMac is only 6months old if that ..
Kind regards Simon Trott Apple user and proud of it

We're not allowed to speculate on future or rumoured Apple products, but we all know there'll always be newer tech coming along.
The iMac you have is an excellent machine, be happy with it and get a good few years use out of it. By the time your machine is slowing down, whatever comes next will have been updated numerous times.
    I had the 2011 i5 27" delivered about 3 weeks ago. It's a cracking machine

I have purchased music, apps, or books with multiple Apple IDs. How can I get all of this content onto my iOS device?

First, you need to copy all of your purchased content so it is on the same Mac or PC with iTunes. This computer should be the one you sync your device with. For more information on how to move your content, see these articles:
Mac:  iTunes for Mac: How to copy purchases between computers

Next, authorize your computer to play content with each Apple ID in iTunes. Once your computer is authorized for all your content, it can be synced to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

  • Hello.  I just bought my first Imac.  Each family member has created an account.  My question is: can each account/family member create their own imesssages, so that each family member can imessage privately?

Hello.  I just bought my first Imac.  Each family member has created an account.  My question is: can each person use imessages privately when logged into their account?  instead of everyone seeing everyones imessages?  is there a way to do this?

I believe the short answer tot that is "yes" however I recommend you contact AppleCare to find out You have 90 days of free AppleCare telephone support when you buy any new Mac. This is the ideal time to begin using it. I'd also recommend that you purchase AppleCare, it will extend your 1 year warranty to 3 years and offer you 3 years of telephone support in addition to other services. You can locate the correct phone number in your part of the planet (Calgary, Canada??) by clicking Contact Apple for support and service

  • Why can't I use the spacebar on my Apple bluetooth keyboard to wake my iMac?

I'm pretty sure I was able to use Apple's Bluetooth keyboard to wake the machine before. The only solution I have so far is use the power button on the back of the iMac to wake it and worse, not letting the hard drive sleep in the first place. Neither of these options suit me very well.  Anyone have a suggestion?
    Thanks!!

    Hi iNstaPro,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iMac isn't waking from sleep reliably, I'd try these steps from our display troubleshooting article:
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.

  • ?, How do I get Apple tv to show on my imac in the devices list?

How do I get Apple tv to show on my imac in the devices list on itunes?

This is only possible with the first generation Apple TV, as you can sync items to it. The second generation Apple TV does not do this.

  • Just bought my first imac!

    Hello all,
I just purchased my first imac. I got the higher end 27" iMac. I'm a little nervous about even opening the box lol, because it is bigger than it appears to be! I'm afraid that it might not fit on my desk. I am not totally new to Mac I work on them at school, but this is my first time owning one so I will be jumping in with both feet. I have a few questions please.
First off I have been searching for a good first time imac owner group or blog but can't find anything current. Can anyone point me to something in this regard? My experience with iMacs are basically turning them one and opening an app to work in. Also, how sturdy are these computers? I want to put it in my bedroom as I have four little ones running around the house and I don't want them knocking it over. I just have a little desk that we had in my son's room for his laptop and im not sure if it will be a good fit. Third I only got the 8g ram with it. I plan to be running Adobe products like Photoshop and Illustrator. Will the 8g be enough to run these programs or should I plan on getting more?
Thanks and I'm real excited to be owning an iMac of my own! Been wanting one for years and finally got it!
    gmdoggies

Hi gmdoggies & welcome to the ASC.
I'm no expert, but I can tell you this. Unless someone with a higher level rating (than that of yours truly) tells you otherwise... you WILL be needing more RAM if you plan on using Photoshop.
It's a catch-22 situation as you could add more RAM yourself later, but that would void your warrantee w/Apple. If I were you I would refrain from adding anything (3rd party software; confidential personal information; etc... to your new machine until you speak w/ an Apple Store Representative regarding the matter of having Apple installing more RAM for you so as to NOT void your warranty. There may be a certain window of time for you to consider the options available to you... I can't speak for Apple. I'm only a volunteer as we all are here. If I remember correctly, Apple used to have a policy that you could upgrade a basic warranty within a certain period of time to an extended warranty (3 years). I would imagine that an "Apple-sanctioned" memory upgrade may well be a considerably shorter period of time. Don't worry as others here will chime in here to help you. I'm sure that they are typing away as I type away. It's all good.
Yes, Apple has a high profit margin; notably on their RAM. But if you wait till the warranty runs out (as I did) and added more RAM yourself (as I did) you would be saving a good chunk of money. The rather ominous caveat here is that to void your warranty is a risk; a big risk. If Apple allows you to bring your machine in (within a certain amount of time) & have them upgrade the RAM contingent on their willingness to do so whereby you keep your warranty intact then I would seriously consider that alternative considering your wish to use Adobe Photoshop (versus Adobe Photoshop Elements). As far as using Illustrator, I cannot speak to that as I have no experience w/that or with Photoshop. It is well known that Adobe Photoshop needs plenty of RAM. I'm sure that someone here within ASC can chime in on that.
Now, there are two levels of warranties available. The basic warranty and the extended warranty. I have no idea which one that you have. I did not spring for the extended warranty with my iMac which continues to work fine for 6 years now. I quadrupled my RAM about two years ago without a hitch. Whoa! What a difference that made; it was like I bought a new machine!
Then again, when I was in college I got an awesome Apple G3 Tower with an extended warrantee and it needed a new motherboard within a few months. Yikes! That took an Apple Store about 3-4 weeks to replace (the motherboard, not the machine). So actually the extended warranty meant nothing but peace of mind for the next 2.5 years. But then again, I needed that peace of mind at the time.
A rule of thumb for many people re: warranties vs. extended warranties is if the machine in question works fine for a reasonable length of time, then you probably have a dependable machine. What is a reasonable length of time? You have to determine that yourself using due diligence & absorbing feedback from others. Much like any investment you need to weigh the risks.
The good news is there are lots of helpful, knowledgable & experienced members here in the ASC to get feedback from.
    Best Regards,
    mm~

I am curious as to why you repeated your question twice both in the subject box and in the discussion box?
In answer to your question, have you tried using
    Disk Utility?
       1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
       2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
       3. Click the First Aid tab.
       4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
       5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
       6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.
Then, if you can, reboot to your internal drive and repair permissions.

  • As soon as I send my messages they say unable to deliver but then 2 seconds later it delivers. Idk what to do

wwhen i send a message to someone it says that it was unable to deliver but then 2 seconds latee it delivers. It's really bothering me and I don't know what to do about it . Help......

    Hey there gentiana1,
It sounds like your phone is not sending messages until a couple of seconds after you tap Send. Since they are going through it seems like your network and (for iMessage) Apple ID information is correct. I would start by quitting the Messages app:
iOS: Force an app to close
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Regards,
    Sterling

  • Apple unable to replace broken power adaptor?

The power supply for my 1 year old Macbook Pro just stopped working. I think it's just wear and tear, so I have no problem paying for a new one, but when I contacted my local certified Apple retailer (Humac), they told me, well, basically, that I was f*ed. They told me that Apple couldn't deliver power supplies for the Macbook Pros - even the Macbook Pros they were displaying in the store were using power supplies for the smaller Macbooks!
My questions is; how can it be that Apple (and their certified retailers) can be selling (pretty expensive) Macbook Pros, knowing that they wont be able to replace a broken power supply?
Does anyone know of somewhere I can buy a power supply? It's urgent! I can't work without power!
In the store they advised me to borrow a Macbook power supply from a friend until Apple could once again ship the right power supplies for the Macbook Pros! What nerve!
PS: This is written on a Windows-based PC. Imagine the pain...
